A Latté Love Coffee House: Southern Bourbon Caramel Latté
    LaDonna G.

Review #88 Location: 91 Monroe Ave, NE, Piedmont, OK 73078, off Piedmont Rd S, inside the same Bldg shared with The Pristine Salon & Spa. Use the far right door to enter and the coffee shop is the small space in the right corner. I walked in and saw women getting hair done, etc and thought maybe it was only drive thru, but they do have a small counter space and area to order inside. Facility/Bldg: It's in a dark and medium grey wood Bldg with beige brick trim and looks like a farmhouse. They have a covered patio with comfy chairs and a small table to sit at. You can go inside to order or use the right side of the Bldg to use the drive thru. I went inside and the two women were nice and helpful. They have some of their coffee mugs you can purchase. Coffee: They use Trinity Blend espresso and Grounds 4 Compassion local coffee roasters. They offer iced, hot, or frozen drinks, typical coffee drinks or fountain drinks. Non-coffee drinks like hot chocolate, chai or green tea, lemonade, and numerous syrup flavors and milk options. I got the Southern Bourbon Caramel Latté frozen/blended and it was great as it was 103 degrees out. Parking: they share the parking lot with the salon so there are spaces but the salon gets busy so you may have to park in the neighboring business lots or off the street. Hours: Sun-Mon: closed; Tues-Fri: 7am-12pm; Sat: 9am-2pm. Starting 16 Jun their summer hours increase and Tues-Fri will extend til 2pm. Company: The owners are Lucas and Ceeja Malmkar and they love to create new seasonal flavors of drinks. This is their brick and mortar Bldg, as their coffee truck/trailer business did so well they opened the permanent location. There is a different Yelp business page for the mobile coffee truck/trailer business based in Yukon, so use that one to review the mobile trailer. Obviously they go beyond Yukon for the mobile trailer based on requests and their business needs, but Yukon is the base location. Posted on Thurs, 10 Jun 2021

I was attending a neighborhood block party and this drink truck was on site. It was very hot and all I wanted was a great glass of unsweetened iced tea. They delivered all the above. Hit the spot. I am looking forward to checking out their shop when I am in town next time.

Good coffee and flavors but has to be the slowest coffee shop I've ever been to... like obnoxiously slow.

Went once and didn't know what to order. The girl working was kind and helpful picking out something I'd like.

I've even "cruised" past ordering spuds or cookies in the past because I didn't always think the value was there. With this newer location, though, I may need to rethink that. On this visit I grabbed a to-go order of two spuds and two cookies. My wife wanted the Turkey Spud and I tried the Baja Spud with chicken. The first thing I noticed right away--the potatoes were huge! Honestly, some of the most impressive sized spuds I've had from City Bites in quite some time. My wife's Turkey Spud was loaded, easy to see the generous amount of turkey piled on top. She was happy, which means I was happy. My Baja Spud, on the other hand, looked good but didn't quite deliver the same way. It felt light on the chicken and a little heavy on the sour cream. The flavor was fine, but the balance of ingredients wasn't what I expected, especially compared to how well-topped my wife's potato was. Thankfully, the spud itself was large enough that I could share with her and still be satisfied. Now, the cookies. I've been vocal in the past about how City Bites cookies have gotten smaller with less icing, which was disappointing since their Pumpkin Cookie has always been a personal favorite. This time I was pleasantly surprised--the Pumpkin Spice and Snickerdoodle were closer to the classic City Bites cookies I used to love. Bigger, better, and more in line with what they should be. A perfect sweet ending to our meal. Overall, I left impressed with the portion sizes and especially happy with the cookies. The Baja Spud could use more chicken, but between the generous potatoes and the nostalgic return of the cookies, this location gives me hope that City Bites is stepping things back up.

The sandwich was delicious and low cost, which makes me want to try another kind in the future. They also offer baked potatoes which sound really good in cooler weather.

Barbells & BBQ - A Hidden Gem in a Food Truck!…read more What a fantastic and unexpected stop for dinner! My wife and I stumbled upon Barbells & BBQ while discussing where to eat, and I'm so glad we did. Sometimes the best meals come from unplanned detours, and this one did not disappoint. The menu is straightforward, but that's exactly what makes it shine. Instead of overwhelming you with endless options, they focus on doing a few things exceptionally well -- and it shows in the flavor and quality of every bite. My wife went with the Brisket Nachos, and they were phenomenal. Perfectly smoked brisket layered over crisp chips, cheesy goodness, and all the right toppings -- easily a dish I'd return for again and again. I chose the Brisket Sandwich paired with their Brisket Beans, and both hit the mark. The beans were some of the best I've had -- smoky, rich, and hearty. The sandwich was loaded with tender brisket; next time I'll just ask for a little extra BBQ sauce, but it was still a fantastic meal. The passion behind the food is clear, and even the owner mentioned they hope to make this spot a permanent home for the truck. I certainly hope so too -- because for a food truck, this one is at the top of the list. Lucky for me, they're only a few miles from home, which means I'll be back very soon. If you love BBQ, do yourself a favor and track them down -- your taste buds will thank you.
