I said I hadn't gotten an email, maybe because they hadn't spelled my email address correctly. I spelled it again v-e-r-y c-a-r-e-f-u-l-l-y. No paperwork. So I went to the office. I asked to fill out the paperwork then and there, and they gave it to me. When I turned it in, they said someone would review it and call me to make an appointment. Did they? You guessed it. No call. So why would a doctor claim to be taking new patients when he really isn't? Is it some quirky insurance thing? I just don't get it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ P.S. The day after I left this review, his office called me to schedule an appointment. Needless to say, I declined. So I guess he is taking new patients (at least when prompted by a Yelp review). But then why the runaround???

As others here have noted, one never feels that he's in a rush to wrap up his time with you and move on. He takes time to engage in a conversation with you, to listen to your concerns and questions, and to address them thoroughly. For me, good communication is the most important quality I look for in a primary care doctor, aside from a basic confidence in his/her competence. Dr. Killian has helped me better understand my various medical issues and articulates his treatment goals and methodologies in an exceptionally thorough and understandable manner. I have a fantastic cardiologist who is also an excellent communicator, but I have often found myself with Dr. Killian explaining and helping me understand my heart issues more completely than I would listening to my cardiologist alone. He is thorough in integrating test results and other information from the cardiologist (and other specialists) into my patient records to maintain a complete understanding of all my ongoing medical issues. I could scarcely ask for more than that. His group practice, Red River Family Practice, is well-run, and I have encountered very few of the office/administrative frustrations I have at similar group practice offices. Reading some other less-than-positive reviews here, I'm reminded that no single physician is likely to be the right fit for every patient, each with their unique concerns and expectations. That said, Dr. Killian is a perfect fit for my priorities and expectations, and his competence and professionalism provide a rock-solid foundation to support those preferences. I knew I was hurt but didn't know how bad, and he took PLENTY of time and answered all my questions before recommending that he place 3 pins in the joint - my risk at that point was a displacement which would require a full replacement - I'm 48, no thanks! During surgery he went the extra mile as well - Titanium pins, and only three tiny incisions, when he could have done a much larger incision. He is an absolute professional, with a great personality and sense of humor. Is he busy? Sure - great docs are always in high demand. My recovery was perfect and he was very attentive as I healed. I would go back and see him in a heartbeat. Two years later my dad (72) was struggling with problems from a hip replacement from 5 years past - done in Dallas and using the now known faulty joint. I sent him to Dodgin who instantly gained his trust and admiration. My Dads surgery was very complex, as he had lots of damage from the bad joint - it actually took two surgeries and many hours to fix (known as a revulsion) - Dr. D told us he would heal slowly and may always need a cane, but he actually walks without one, and recovered very well. I credit Dodgin with the talent and care that took care of my Dad - there are many that would have rebuilt the hip with other more extreme measures. Dodgin had the skill to get it done right. I have never sensed him as arrogant, but instead confident - the way I want my surgeons (and pilots :-)) to be. He is caring and attentive, and yes, pretty busy. I am happy to wait a bit for the best. I would recommend him to anyone. He is top notch.

I waited months for my appointment, only to find that the doctor was unable to open Longhorn MRIs during the visit because she doesn't know her access code. She was able to login into longhorn but didn't know how to zoom or view the images, battling with her computer keys. This was very frusterating because why am I here if you cant even open and read MRIs?? I was told I would receive a follow-up once she gained access, but its been 4 weeks and I haven't heard anything. She stated that my EMG results from another provider "chart did not match the summary" and she made an order to go redo it! I sought a second opinion at UT, where I was told the results were, in fact, consistent. She prescribed me medication and warned me that it might cause alertness and difficulty sleeping. However, I experienced the opposite effect and became extremely sleepy and miserable all day. After two weeks of being drowsy, miserable and ignored and chasing, I finally received a response via EMAIL stating that the medication would cause sedation --contradicting what she originally told me with NO further guidance!!!! I asked if she can prescribe me something else?? and its been 2 weeks.. GHOSTED AGAIN. It has now been four weeks, and I still have not received an after-care summary, any update regarding my MRI, or guidance about adjusting the medication. Communication from the office has been a depressing degrading nightmare. The first week was the hardest nobody was answering the phones or calling back, my follow-up appointment was delayed from four to five weeks as a result. It also took nearly two weeks just to receive information about accessing the patient portal, which does not even allow direct messaging with the doctor, you must go through the front desk via email! I noted "prefer not to disclose" under ethnicity on my intake forms, but she asked about the origin of my last name. This made me uncomfortable and makes me wonder if this extreme neglect is due to racism because I do not understand the good reviews. When you are dealing with a medical issue, every single day matters because it could bring you closer to getting better, yet I have now spent 4 weeks being ignored, without guidance, medication, just sitting here wasting time!!! This is no way to treat people who are vulnerable!! This place wasted my time off of work and money. Thank god I made a back-up appointment with Ascension neurology.
