We kept hearing how good this place was and everytime we drove by the parking lot was always packed. So we finally decided to give them a try. The bacon chips were really good, and all of the other food was pretty tasty. I got the brisket melt, it had great flavor. My boyfriend got the burnt ends and said they were really good too. Let me just say I went with a friend about 2pm. We ordered the rib special and the burnt ends. Our 4 sides were hot potato salad, beans, cheese corn, and cold potato salad. Wow the smoke ring was beautiful on the ribs, they were juicy and tender. The potato salad was great ranking as one of of my favorites of all time. The burnt ends had perfect flavor. I'd definitely come back not just for the potato salad. The sauces were great, first was housewife sweet but mildly spicy. The second and third were mean mother in law and sweet sister the first was suitable but not as spicy as expected and did not have the flavor of mad housewife. Sweet sister was just and honorable mention in comparison to what we chose. read more

I'm not a big fan of BBQ. I'm very picky about meat and sauce. Most BBQ joints I don't care if I ever return again (that includes you Jack Stack). I'll be back to this one. I liked all three of the sauces...sweet sister, mad housewife, and mean mother-in-law. I had the chicken and pulled pork. Enjoyed both. Tasted someone's brisket and liked it also. The French fries were great. Loved the cheesy corn. The baked beans were too sweet for my taste but still good. Only downside, and this really isn't just this joint, is that the soft, white half slice of bread was buried under the moist meat. It turns to mush. I enjoy a nice toasted piece of Texas toast that isn't under the meat. Many items are sweet here, you've been warned. The medium and hottest sauce were nicely spicy. The sweet tea was very good, and not too sweet. There was a great amount of good for the price. I couldn't clean my plate, and I'm a champion plate cleaner. read more

A Little BBQ Joint - Interesting decor - Barbeque Near Me - Independence, Missouri

Been here 3 times now. The last trip was my final time. I can't really say I was impressed any of the 3. The first 2 times I went with a work party and the last time I grabbed a pound of brisket on my way home. My overall impression on the trips I had were that the sides were amazingly average, even sub par in many respects. The beans are literally a dessert. They are zero savory, all sweet. The ribs are big and meaty, but woefully short on flavor, and they are tough, chewy and still have the silver skin on them. Just not a pleasant eating experience. The burnt ends (which I personally think are the absolute staple of a bbq joint's cooking chops) are simply not good. They aren't salty and crunchy and fatty and umami like a good burnt end should be. They are dry and uninteresting and sad. That poor pound of brisket that I took home when my wife was out of town was dry, flacid, flavorless and could have been sown together and used to resole the bottoms of my deteriorating sneakers. It's just not good. In fact, I believe that I much prefer just about every bbq place I frequent exponentially more than this one: Plowboys, Jack Stack, Smokin Guns, Arthur Bryant's, Zarda even which I'm not crazy about, any of them are truly head and shoulders above this poor little bbq joint. read more

This was our first trip in. Service was horrible, unorganized, and spotty at best. Our food came out fast. Server checked in us immediately and then not again for about 20 minutes. Cheesy corn was disgusting. Complained about the food and service and was still handed a full bill without a replacement. We will never return. read more

Great food! Wonderful service. Burnt ends are to die for. If you are trying to eat low carb here, it is doable. My wife has to eat low carb for some health issues so she ordered burnt ends,coleslaw and the corn side dish. Such a satisfying meal and nice vibe. Wow! Great BBQ, great setting, an all around winner. On the basis of other reviews I went with the burnt ends and was not at all disappointed. Sports bar feel to the place that makes it a particularly inviting place for a Sat or Sun afternoon during football season. Our family used to pick up takeout here a few times a month. A few weeks ago, we got food that was so salty that it was inedible -- and none of us are sensitive to salt. My husband called to let them know about the experience. The woman who answered the phone took his name & number for someone to call him back. No one ever called. We're not willing to go back and drop money there since they don't seem to care when they disappoint their customers. We drive all the way down to LC's now to get BBQ. read more

Passing through on a road trip and wanted bbq while in the state. The barbecue I had (ribs) was GREAT!! The meat was tender and flavorful even without adding any sauces. I had the potato salad and coleslaw with, and both were really good, coleslaw wasn't too sweet or heavy on the mayo like most others and the potato salad had a great flavor that required no additions of salt or pepper to offset the blandness I've tasted elsewhere. This is a great place. The owner and staff were friendly. The food was awesome, we had the bacon chips, brisket, ribs, burnt ends and sausage. It was all great. My wife and I were in town for a Chiefs game and found this place. We absolutely loved it. As soon as you walk in you feel welcomed and relaxed by the atmosphere. Highly recommend the bacon chips for the appetizer with some cold brew to start it out. Hot potato salad and their fries are top notch!!! Now to the main reason you go to a bbq joint....THE BBQ!! First o all, I have to say we love coming here to eat, have some drinks & have a great time! But today was definitely an exception! I have never felt so humiliated! Apparently, some of the music I had played was not appropriate and if I had known that I would have not have played it! It's funny because I have played that music there before. We not only heared the staff literally talk sh!t and mocking us, we were also approached by whoever was in charge and they way he handled the situation was very inappropriate. All he would've had to do is talk to us & let us know that those songs we're not "appropriate" and they would be skipped & it wouldn't have been a big deal. Needless to say if your looking to have a good time this is NOT the place to go to! Especially if your looking to play music that is apparently not approved by who's in charge and their mood that day. In good faith & the staff that served us we left a good tip.
