    Burnt Ends with 2 Sides

The sides are amazing! I do not think the Burnt ends were fresh and they were very greasy. I still ate it , because the meat was flavorful, but it was almost like a beef jerky texture and very dry. The bbq sauce was good. I would go back

Trying a new place near the Truman home in Independence. Great classic vibe. All the booths are actual bench seats from classic cars. Two thumbs up. Great service and food!

Me: Hey we're heading to A lil' BBQ Joint for dinner. Want to meet us? My friend: Sure, what's the name of the place? Me: A LIL' BBQ JOINT! A Little BBQ Joint displays decor that sets a down home tone for a barbecue outing. Don't come here looking for too many frills. The table tops were unique. Not something I had ever seen before, at least at our table. It was sort of a large shadow box with cars, sort of old school. The service was nice. Our servers were attentive and we didn't have to wait long for our order to be taken. While the food looked appetizing, flavors disappoint, save for standout fries. Overall, a mixed bag - with potential for improvement.

We stopped on a Sunday for dinner. Place is very neat with a kind of a garage feel in the bar. We elected to eat on the deck on a nice fall evening. We all ordered beers that were served with a cold glass I got the sausage and pulled pork. My wife got the brisket and our friend the burnt ends. We got the pea salad, hot potato salad, Cole slaw, corn, and Mac n cheese for sides. We all shared our sides. They had three homemade sauces on the table. I tried and enjoyed all three. I thought the burnt ends were a little dry along with the sausage. The pork and brisket were good. Our waitress was friendly and provided great service. Enjoy KC style BBQ.

The ladies were funny, and the service was solid. Thanks! The environment was clean and eye candy with the trucks, trains and cars! FUN! The BBQ was good, and the sauces were fun. I had the Tuesday special, which was pulled pork and sausage sandwich with fries! Fun stop! Thanks!

As luck would have it, I had to run an errand near the area and my decision was made. First off, the entrance isn't where you'd think it would be. The order window was closed and I noticed people going up to the deck to get in, so up I headed. The place was actually spacious and comfortable, it has a Caribbean vibe to it. After much consternation, I figured I'd make it tough on them and opted for the Reuben. As some somebody who has had many Reubens at the place where they were invented, Omaha's Blackstone Hotel, I can be a tough judge. This is definitely the best place to get one in KC, so I know that I'll be back for more. I even liked the bread that they used, it set it apart from other sammiches. And the service was great, so I'll be back.

Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and our food came out quickly. I ordered a turkey club while my dad got one as well, and unfortunately we both had the same issue. The turkey was on the dry side, and it was sliced much thicker than I personally prefer. I tend to like a thinner deli-style sliced turkey, so it just wasn't my favorite sandwich. My mom ordered one of the salads though, and honestly it looked better than my sandwich. It was loaded with fresh toppings, and she said the ranch was excellent. If I come back, I'd probably skip the sandwich altogether and give one of the salads a try. Overall, I can definitely appreciate what they're going for. The prices are fantastic, honestly unheard of in present day, and that's the main reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 3. It's a true local spot, and I wouldn't mind giving it another chance to try something different from the menu.

Again there is little personality to most locations these days yet the functionality and the ability to clean quickly is at a premium. The Staff - I had the good fortune to interact with several of the staff members this time. And ALL of them were extremely nice, kind, and friendly. They went out of their way to check on me several times and remind me that I could get a refill on my drink. They gall at the checkout even offered to bring me the desert that I had on rewards that was set to expire soon. Some of the best Customer Service I have seen in a while. - 5 stars. The carhops came right up to our window to take our order and were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The menu is surprisingly large for such a small place. We ordered the Wiz Burger, chicken nuggets, tots, onion rings, fries, and Brown Cow root beer floats. Prices were very reasonable, which was a nice bonus. One thing I really loved was the option to order their homemade root beer in an ice-cold glass mug (which you return when you're done). It definitely adds to the nostalgic experience. Our favorite items were the crispy tater tots, the chicken nuggets (which were more like mini chicken strips), and the root beer floats. The Wiz Burger was definitely unique, but it wasn't a crowd-pleaser in our car. It's made with loose meat mixed with onions, pickles, and cheese, which may appeal to some but wasn't our favorite. I'd definitely go back to try the chicken sandwich, pork tenderloin, or spicy buffalo dog. The food itself might be closer to 3 stars, but the unique throwback nostalgia of the carhop era bumps the overall experience into 4-star territory. It's a must-try-at-least-once kind of place.
