The best sauces! I tried em all
    Adrienne C.

When in KC, you have to get some burnt ends, amirite? Meat Mitch fits the bill, famous for their burnt ends and "whomp sauce" made from the drippings. I had the cheddar jalapeño sausage and the burnt ends which were great with the whomp bbq sauce and yellow brick road bbq sauce. Sides fell flat: the mac & cheese was lukewarm and gelatinous, the creamy coleslaw was mostly cream, and they accidentally gave me some fries which I tried and were not bad, but just pretty much average seasoned fries. So, the meat is the star not surprisingly! Another thing to know is they did not tell me that I was ordering for Takeaway and they did not offer me a seat so there was some uncomfortable confusion when the server who section I sat on, seemed ready to cast me out after I just paid $38 for barbecue for one. Ambience is meh, but it's the airport, so I had no expectations there.

This is the Naked and Afraid for $18.50

Just grabbed a bite to eat at the airport location prior to a flight. Disappointed is a good word to start with. I had the Naked and Afraid. I essentially got a crumpled sandwich with mostly fatty burnt ends, a couple of slices of sausage, and a few Jalapeños. It was cool to the touch and lacked the charred mayo. I'm still not sure what the matchstick potato is because there was nothing else on my platter, aside from a couple of pickle slices and a few slices of red onion. My wifey got the Pickled Pig. Her sandwich definitely contained more meat than mine, sadly was also tepid. As for the fried pickles, she finally found 1!!! She added a side order of curly fries, and unfortunately, they were tepid as well and tasted like they were previously heated in a microwave oven. The service was definitely lacking in both attentiveness and geniality. The fact that Kansas City is world renowned for their BBQ makes this dining experience an unforgivable atrocity.

Traveling through KS and stumbled upon this gem. They have table options, however I placed my order at the to-go counter with a very kind and humorous young lady lol. I ordered the brisket chili which was surprisingly really good for airport food. Flavorful and they didn't skimp on the meat. The only complaint was that it was not large enough, I definitely could have eaten double the portion size. Overall really good!!!

If you want some bbq while waiting for your flight, highly recommend checking them out. They do have the option of placing an order to go in case you rather eat at your gate or grab a drink at the wine bar right next to it which is exactly what i did. The young woman working the to go counter was nice and even brought me my food while I was sitting at the wine bar. I think I have my new go to routine when I go to the airport again.

I had previously tried Meat Mitch's Leawood location and so I wanted to show my family the restaurant while we were waiting in the airport. It fully lived up to the other location! We ordered two dishes, The Mac Daddy and the Cheesy Hog Fries. Both were extremely delicious. The Mac Daddy had super tender, melt in your mouth burnt ends with creamy and flavorful Mac n cheese. The Cheesy Hog Fries were insanely packed with flavor, they were surprisingly sweet. The food came out almost immediately after ordering and had a bunch of sauces to try. Overall it was absolutely amazing. Only issue is the server was not familiar with the beers, which is not a big deal at all. The tables are a little too tightly packed together.

wow what a place!! Inside the MCI airport, sits this cute lil BBQ place. We decided to share a few things including the cheesy hog fries and the Mac Daddy. Both were delicious!!!!! I am not a super fan of BBQ but i was pleasantly surprised. The server did not know much about the beers on tap. Besides that, the service was quick and good. Food came out within 5 minutes of ordering. I would absolutely come back here!

Great spot in the MCI airport. My flight was delayed by an hour so I decided to try this joint. This place hit the spot. Even though it's located in the Airport, it still gave BBQ joint vibes. Only thing missing were the community tables. The waitress was super friendly and very helpful. It wasn't very busy so there wasn't a rush and I was attended to in a very timely manner. I was in the mood for a burger so I had the smash burger which was good. It was a perfect smash burger and it was very yummy. This place is definitely a keeper for my stops through KC.

Updated review. I don't love the BBQ or the sauces here. Not great, just marginal. However, the smash burger is pretty good and the brisket chili is FANTASTIC!! Today, our server, Timothy, was super fast and efficient!!! It was a completely different experience than the last two times I was here. I hope they continue providing quick and efficient service.

Got a brisket Sammy before I got on my flight. I tell you what it was one of the best that I have had in awhile. I really like the buns they have there. They are very soft and kind of like buttery. Not flaky and fluffy like a cheap hamburger bun. It came with tons of brisket on it, bbq sauce and some onions I think. That brisket Sammy was awesome!!! It filled me up for my 3 hour flight. The coleslaw was amazing too. It was creamy and tasty and even had some purple onions it it that made it pop and have a spicy flavor. I got the order to go and took it to the bar just outside of the restaurant. I would definitely come back here the next time I am at MCI.

Two meat platter with sliced brisket and burnt ends, BBQ beans and fries
    Richard C.

I was a little skeptical of eating BBQ at the airport, but the food was good. The brisket and burnt ends were not dry. The house BBQ sauce was tasty. I didn't eat much of the sides, but the beans had a unique flavor. Service was quick, as you would expect with folks needing to make their flights. Glad to have this option instead of fast food or some chain restaurant. Good job Mitch!

Fantastic selection of Kansas City barbecue without ever leaving the airport. The flavors are authentic, portions are solid, and it's a must-try if you're passing through. Perfect way to get a taste of KC before takeoff or after landing!

Airport location- Got the ribs and a cocktail. Ribs came with two sides- I chose the Cole slaw and baked beans. Was very filling and portion was generous. Satisfied my bbq craving. Service was outstanding. Julie took good care of me.

Wonderlust drink, pulled pork, brisket and jalapeño cheese sausage with stay hot and whomp sauce combo. Sides of Mac and cheese and beans
    Shayne D.

Immediately greeted and sat and told who my server would be while handing me a menu. My server gave me just enough time to let me look at menu before asking my drink choice. The flow of the restaurant is open with great corner floor to ceiling windows and a view. I order the "Wanderlust" drink and I highly recommend very refreshing and great flavor. The food of choice was a three meat platter of brisket, pulled pork and jalapeño cheese sausage. Sides were Mac and cheese and beans. The sausage is fantastic!! The pulled pork was dry and needed the sauce choice from the 6 on the table brisket a little on chewy side but still would purchase again. Both the greeter and server reminded me no turkey. Overall a good experience and will repeat when at the Kansas City Airport.

And I'm so excited because what goes better with a beer than a burger? My answer is pretty much nothing and thank goodness Burn Theory has got you covered. The special of the evening was a kimchi smash burger. One thing about me is I love anything fermented so, kimchi is one of my favorite things. Surprisingly I had never had it as a burger condiment before so, I was ready to try something fresh and new. It didn't disappoint! It was delicious. The smash burger patty was juicy and had lacey edges just like a proper smasher should, sometimes certain places forget the importance of those crispy edges. Not here! The kimchi wasn't an afterthought at all, it was more than a condiment slapped on top of the burger instead it was piled high and added just the right amount of zippy slightly spicy flavor. The cheese oozed out of the burger and melded with the lacey edges to create an impeccable bite, I'm still thinking of it a week later. I can't wait to try more burger renditions on the menu because this one definitely got high marks. There are other things on the menu as well if a burger isn't your speed but don't expect anything too fancy this is bussin' bar food that pairs exceptionally with a brew.
