wow what a place!! Inside the MCI airport, sits this cute lil BBQ place. We decided to share a few things including the cheesy hog fries and the Mac Daddy. Both were delicious!!!!! I am not a super fan of BBQ but i was pleasantly surprised. The server did not know much about the beers on tap. Besides that, the service was quick and good. Food came out within 5 minutes of ordering. I would absolutely come back here!

I had previously tried Meat Mitch's Leawood location and so I wanted to show my family the restaurant while we were waiting in the airport. It fully lived up to the other location! We ordered two dishes, The Mac Daddy and the Cheesy Hog Fries. Both were extremely delicious. The Mac Daddy had super tender, melt in your mouth burnt ends with creamy and flavorful Mac n cheese. The Cheesy Hog Fries were insanely packed with flavor, they were surprisingly sweet. The food came out almost immediately after ordering and had a bunch of sauces to try. Overall it was absolutely amazing. Only issue is the server was not familiar with the beers, which is not a big deal at all. The tables are a little too tightly packed together.

Updated review. I don't love the BBQ or the sauces here. Not great, just marginal. However, the smash burger is pretty good and the brisket chili is FANTASTIC!! Today, our server, Timothy, was super fast and efficient!!! It was a completely different experience than the last two times I was here. I hope they continue providing quick and efficient service.

Got a brisket Sammy before I got on my flight. I tell you what it was one of the best that I have had in awhile. I really like the buns they have there. They are very soft and kind of like buttery. Not flaky and fluffy like a cheap hamburger bun. It came with tons of brisket on it, bbq sauce and some onions I think. That brisket Sammy was awesome!!! It filled me up for my 3 hour flight. The coleslaw was amazing too. It was creamy and tasty and even had some purple onions it it that made it pop and have a spicy flavor. I got the order to go and took it to the bar just outside of the restaurant. I would definitely come back here the next time I am at MCI.

I was a little skeptical of eating BBQ at the airport, but the food was good. The brisket and burnt ends were not dry. The house BBQ sauce was tasty. I didn't eat much of the sides, but the beans had a unique flavor. Service was quick, as you would expect with folks needing to make their flights. Glad to have this option instead of fast food or some chain restaurant. Good job Mitch!

Fantastic selection of Kansas City barbecue without ever leaving the airport. The flavors are authentic, portions are solid, and it's a must-try if you're passing through. Perfect way to get a taste of KC before takeoff or after landing!

Airport location- Got the ribs and a cocktail. Ribs came with two sides- I chose the Cole slaw and baked beans. Was very filling and portion was generous. Satisfied my bbq craving. Service was outstanding. Julie took good care of me.

Immediately greeted and sat and told who my server would be while handing me a menu. My server gave me just enough time to let me look at menu before asking my drink choice. The flow of the restaurant is open with great corner floor to ceiling windows and a view. I order the "Wanderlust" drink and I highly recommend very refreshing and great flavor. The food of choice was a three meat platter of brisket, pulled pork and jalapeño cheese sausage. Sides were Mac and cheese and beans. The sausage is fantastic!! The pulled pork was dry and needed the sauce choice from the 6 on the table brisket a little on chewy side but still would purchase again. Both the greeter and server reminded me no turkey. Overall a good experience and will repeat when at the Kansas City Airport.

I've always heard that KC had the best BBQ, so I had to try it after finding out I had a layout here. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to leave the airport, so airport BBQ would have to do. This spot was reasonably priced for an airport and the staff was very friendly. One of the servers even sat down and had a conversation with me. That's the first time that's ever happened to me . I have to admit, I don't eat a lot of BBQ but I can say for sure that these briskets were the most tender I've ever eaten. If airport BBQ is this good, I can't imagine how good the iconic KC spots will be. A must try if I ever visit again.

Mini side is equal to a Super side at this location! That is, the so called Super side is really a mini.

Great food. Questionable pricing. Got a mini BBQ baked beans and a Super creamy Mac & cheese. They both came in the same size container. Other menu pictures clearly show a larger Mac & cheese.

convenient, yummy, and quick service! it was one of the only food places open at the airport for our super super early flight in the morning so we ordered their super bowl. there wasn't anywhere sit in the place but ofc the airport had tons of seating elsewhere. the portion was large and shareable and the food was hot and fresh. the jalapeños might've been a bit much for that early in the morning but it was very good. hoping to try their lunch next time!

Want to give a shout out to JULIE! She was amazing with what she was working with. There were a few items that were unavailable, staffing was short and kitchen wasn't doing the best, but Julie was rocking it! GET THE FRIED PICKLES! They were fried perfectly and ranch was included! I got the smoked fried chicken salad and a few topping were missing; bacon and potatoe stix. The salad was pretty boring and the chicken was cold but had good breading. We also got kids burgers, beware there were jalapeños on it. Not sure why it was added on a child's meal. There was a self service draft beer station, which was pretty cool, didn't use it but awesome feature!

Meat Mitch is good and getting better. In most cases, I can never understand why restaurants don't deliver the same quality when they're inside an airport. At least with barbecue, I know some of the challenges they have to provide to the same level as the home restaurant. With Meat Mitch, it seems as if they are working out some of those issues, and each time I stop here, it's a little better, a little better, and a bit better. Pretty soon, I will be expecting perfection, and then delivering just like what I have become accustomed to. in the meantime, it's as good as you can get in the airport.

For the sides the coleslaw was very refreshing and crunchy, the baked beans had so much flavor depth and the potato salad had the perfect amount of texture. The only thing left to be desired was the jalapeño cornbread it was a bit lackluster and didn't taste much of any jalapeño, the honey butter could've used more honey and a pinch of flaky sea salt. I almost rated this a 1 star. When I arrived, the place was nice and the young man handling front of house was amazing. I ordered a 3 meat plate to go as I had to be home for an appointment. I rushed inside, mouth watering, opened my box. Turkey looked good, pork belly looked good, the brisket... Straight TRASH. It wasn't even sliced. It looked like they scooped up the stringy bits left over from slicing and called it good. Needless to say I was pissed. The turkey was a hair dry, but flavorful. The pork belly burnt ends were good too. The brisket, which is king in KC que, ruined the whole, thing for me. The way the brisket was served, and it was dry of course, made me feel like they just thought "he's getting it to go, so who cares what he gets." Now as many of you who follow me know, I usually give a place a second chance and hope the experience is better the next time. Not this time. I was deeply insulted at what I got for my money. I may as well have gotten a Banquet TV dinner. Everything else seemed on point, but the star of the show was trash, it ruined the whole thing. So no, I will not be going back and this will NOT be on my list of reccomemds I often mention to people who travel to Kansa City. I truly wasted my money. Avoid this joint. There are MUCH better in the city.

While KC is known for their tomato based sauce AB's is known for their pork ribs and molasses based sauce. While Oak is popular in Texas, Hickory is the main wood used here to pair that sweetness with the molasses with a little oak to finish. As one of the most popular/famous BBQ joints in the area and maybe the country the line can be long at times, but generally not time consuming of a wait. Like alot of the big boys they have a great system of cooking and serving. Service is somewhere between big ticket and owner operated. Decor is still gas station with a smoke house, but they have some massive roittiserrie smokers using blast cyclinder design for efficiency. Their ribs are meaty, nice sweet bark, spicy sweet sauce, mellow oqk flavor. The open faced burnt ends are less candy and more charred nuggets, juicy, less unctuous as they grill it to finish. I found their turkey a little dry, could use a longer brine or even better twined to keep tight as the fibers tore too much on cutting making it shredded/shaved rather than sliced. Great sausage, thought I'd have liked some creativity as the smoke doesn't really accentuate it as much as it could if they had other flavors. I still prefer the Texas style brisket as the bark is more pronounced. They even have chicken tenders for the kids which are deep fried, a little overseasoned for kids (yes I had to try it). Baked beans were sweet, thick, rich on the molasses and smoke, but at this point its a bean jam and a little rich. Dirty rice which i thought was a southern thing was fluffy, aromatic, umami, a true side dish. Potato salad was a little dry, potatos were sized all over the place so some were overcooked and some closer to raw. Go casserole next time or get the cheesey corn, but you can't do both, it's too much. The onion rings were crunchy and sweet and went with their sauce amazing. The fries aren't an afterthought and complimentary to their other non brisket/ribs items. Prices are avctually below average, service is quite good, but to me being an OG it really has changed under the new management. I'm not sure i'll need to come here again as this was my 2nd trip here and i'm not sure it's a must eat place anymore. After all the BBQ tours I've done I really do prefer Texas and SC styles and have found other KCBBQ spots that give a better representation of KCBBQ.
