There are truly not enough words to explain how beautiful our wedding flowers were on 3/12/17! Valarie was the florist included in our Wedgewood Jefferson Street Mansion package. She was very pleasant to work with and has many years of experience. She has a very thorough meeting with you to understand your vision. Our flowers were beautiful and the colors were perfect for my overall vision. She also beautifully decorated our cake and made the ceremony background of my dreams. The reason I took off one star is because almost all of my bridesmaids had flowers falling our of their bouquets before the ceremony and we were scrambling to find pins to push the flowers back in place. Also my moms corsage was too large for the elastic band and would just flop over so we ended up having to tie it to her wrist with string to stay in place. I'm a pretty hardcore DIYer, and when I was planning my wedding, I decided that I would make all of the decor and my own bouquet to save money. Well I had no problem assembling the centerpieces myself, they turned out perfect. My bouquet on the other hand.... was a disaster. I wanted a hand tied bouquet, pretty casual, tied in ribbon, with a locket tied to the outside (pictures of my grandparents were inside of the locket). I panicked and called Valerie at A Love's in Bloom 8 days before my wedding. I described what I wanted, what flowers I liked and what I didn't like, and she said she could absolutely do that for me, and make a boutonniere for my husband, at a pretty reasonable price. I met her at her house a few days later and gave her the check. The morning of the wedding, I went to her house to pick up my bouquet and boutonniere. Everything looked perfect, the locket was even placed just as I asked for. After the reception, I looked at my bouquet really closely and realized it was made using one of those floral foam bouquet forms, it wasn't actually the full stems tied together. If I knew she was going to do that, I would have just done that myself. I wanted a genuine hand-tied bouquet, not one with the flowers just poked into foam. But it looked beautiful, and no one noticed but me. I found Valarie through a wedding blog that said she is one of the best value florists in the Bay Area and she lived up to all expectations. I had a specific vision for my wedding (thanks to Pinterest) and Valarie executed it perfectly. She is professional and accommodating to work with and the flowers arrived on time and beautifully at the hotel where we were getting ready and at the venue. I wanted a more vintage look for the wedding so I spent the entire year scavenging every Ross, thrift store, and HomeGoods in the Bay Area. I provided the jewelry box centerpieces and candelabras and everything was set up the way I wanted it. Though the wedding was in SF, I went out of my way a bit to search for A Love's Bloom because her prices are very fair. I was quoted obscene prices with florists I consulted in SF and San Jose because I imagine some people have disposable income. We weren't looking to ride on an elephant or magic white horse with a throne of roses. We wanted something timeless and elegant and Valarie was perfect. Valarie rocks. Really. I don't know much about flowers other than the basics, so I didn't have the clearest of visions of what I wanted for my wedding. I sat down with her at a local coffee shop 2 months prior to my wedding and we looked at pictures to get ideas--which was super convenient. I didn't have swatches of fabric with me to show her what my colors were, but that didn't matter. All I said was "Just make it pretty," and she certainly did.
