    Bathroom remodel
    Pendar Y.

We were extremely happy with Amir and his crew for our completing our Kitchen and Bathroom remodel on time (in fact, they finished a week earlier) and on budget. We interviewed several contractors before finding A Master through Yelp. Asal quickly made an appointment and Amir came over to assess our project. We wanted to completely demolish and remodel a 70-year old kitchen and bathroom and had a pretty good idea of what we wanted to change. In addition, we were removing a major wall, upgrading our electrical, and refinishing all the floors. We were also on a tight 2-month deadline. Amir listened to what we wanted and sent us an estimate within a few days. Amir's crew started on the same date as was mentioned in the contract, and were on-site every day, including Saturdays. They were so quick that we had to be on our toes to make sure the material they needed were shipped and ready for them at various stages. They were also very accommodating and patient with our slightly tricky Ikea kitchen and appliances, custom painted Ikea kitchen cabinet doors, and our various tile vendors. Occasionally we would spot something that wasn't done to our liking, or based on what we had talked about (e.g. one shower niche instead of two) but Amir and his crew were always willing to redo it without any complaints. What I really liked about this experience was: * They started and finished on-time. * Amir was always responsive. He always called back or texted on the same day we tried to reach him. * A Master took care of all the permits and city inspections * Amir was transparent about anything that required additional charges What to keep in mind: * As stated in the contract, you are supposed to provide all the finishing materials, including things like grout that is easy to forget about or overlook. Make sure you ask Amir early on to let you know exactly what you need to buy, so you don't have to buy them in a hurry when the crew needs something you forgot to get. * It's always a good idea to regularly check the progress of the project by visiting the site. While Amir communicates with the crew on a daily basis, he's not always there himself, and occasionally small things may get lost in communication. Checking the work yourself regularly ensures that you can catch it if it happens. Overall, I can't be happy enough with our decision to go with A Master. Renovating is always stressful. So it's great to know you're working with a team that is reliable and is going to finish on-time. We're already planning to work with Amir on another project for our house soon, and I can't recommend him highly enough.

A master construction had done our home addition of 490 Sq (a bathroom and wet bar) and some change of orders (worth 20k). We had quotes from a few construction companies, including contractors referred by our friends. None of them were convincing me enough to do the project (The quotes were either too high or too low with many unknown areas). Although it took me a while to meet Amir, he was reasonable and flexible enough to work with me. The whole project took three months. It could have done earlier but a city inspector's schedule was backed up due to the busy time of the year. Each step of the work process was done without any major hassle. Most of the crew members were courteous and their working skill was professional. I checked the process of the work every day. If I find some issues to make correction or have questions, I communicated with Amir through texting which was the fastest way to get his response. We had a slope issue from concrete work done by Amir's subcontractor. After we discussed with Amir and his subcontractor, they redid the some area of walkway with the better slope that prevents water from entering the breezeway of my house. Although Amir and I had some disagreement on some issues during and after the work, I appreciate he tried to work it out with me in the end. After two months of the bathroom remodeling work done, I called him because I couldn't open the drainer cover in the shower room. When I called him, he responded me right away and fixed the problem. Overall, I had a good experience with a master construction and satisfied with the quality of the workmanship. I will not think twice to call him for the next project.

Our experience with Amir and Reza was nothing less than excellent. With a kid in the house, we wanted a contractor who would finish the work ON time, and in budget, and they DID. Here are the positives: - Always on time. ALWAYS - Always finish work on time - Always keeps customer first - I added many change orders, still the whole project was finished on time - Always in budget (though not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for) - Awesome tile work - Very trust worthy crew. Nothing left my house without my permission. - Very very courteous workers - These folks were the best of all - Demo guys Eduardo and other short guy - Abhrahim - Tile guy - Ali - Electrical guy - Carlos - General work guy - Both paint guys - Always clean up after everyday's work. The best part is that everything is scheduled perfectly to happen one after the other, without wasting any time. So there definitely is pressure on you as a customer to get all the material on time. The only complaint I have is with his HVAC guy, as things were not very smooth with him(compared to how things go with Amir). All in all, a very good team to work with if you are looking for good quality work, on time, in the estimated budget. If I have to hire a contractor for any work in future, I will definitely give it to Amir again.

    Kitchen remodel

Having had to deal with several non-responsive contractors, Amir and the A Master crew were a breath of fresh air. We were looking for a contractor who would do a complete remodel of our apartment's kitchen (floor to ceiling), paint the living room, and remodel our bar. Amir offered us a good estimate for labor/base materials, and worked with the cabinets and counter top materials we picked out. A Master is also certified to work with Dekton surfaces, which was important to us since we needed a white countertop that was stain and heat resistant. Amir did a great job with the planning, and project management and finished within the time frame he originally quoted us. Most of all we were very happy with his responsiveness to our questions. I generally got an answer back quickly whenever I texted with a question. We would use A Master again for our remodeling and would recommend him to others.

PROS: 1. Starts on time. Finishes on time. As promised. This is HUGE plus! Probably the only thing home owners worry the most about! I have heard of horror stories but never experienced one (thankfully!). 2. Workers worked real hard and there were no shortcuts taken. 3. He is in this business for customer satisfaction. 4. His was the lowest of the three quotes we got. CONS: There are no real cons but I want to highlight some points just so it will clear any confusion (at least for people like me who were totally new to remodeling). He brings labor. Period. Don't expect anything more. You are expected to measure, plan, design and buy everything ahead of time. If yours is a busy family with no time to stay around and monitor everyday, tough luck! Work gets done irrespective. Decisions are made on your behalf to keep things moving. And that is the way it should be! So if you are picky about small things, stick around during the process and provide instructions. I learnt my lesson. I would hire Amir again for future projects.

    After kitchen remodel

We did a kitchen remodel including tearing down a load-bearing wall and bringing all the electrical up to norm. They were able to start the project at an earlier date than expected and the work was done in less than 30 days even though they had allocated 45 days. Amir has great vision on how to organize the project and he keeps everybody on a tight and well organized schedule to keep the work moving along. There was very little downtime between major tasks which we appreciated as we were living in the house during the construction. We were very impressed by the quality of the people that work for him or that he subcontracts to. They were all very professional, did excellent work, paid great attention to quality and any details and never left before completing the task for the day. We also appreciated that they always told us what they were going to do and asked for our input before doing anything to avoid surprises. The construction site was always left as clean as possible at the end of the day. This is the first time that we do any renovation and had heard many horror stories. Fortunately, we found the right company to do the work painlessly and as the photos show the results speak for themselves.

Vlad was very responsive,…read morecommunicated clearly throughout the project, and stuck closely to the agreed scope of work. My main concern was that the work became rushed toward the end. The biggest issue was with the polyaspartic garage floor coating. Properly stripping and sanding the broadcast flakes is one of the most important steps, and unfortunately it wasn't done thoroughly. There were multiple sections inside the garage where flakes were left protruding enough to catch on a mop, and the outside concrete slab extension was never properly sanded along the edge before the final coat, leaving a rough, unfinished appearance. I ended up spending a couple of days sanding those areas and applying another top coat myself. That same attention to detail was missing during the smart lock installation. The installer was clearly rushing, dismissed my suggestion to check the manufacturer's instructions, and insisted he knew what he was doing. The lock initially failed its self-test, and although he made a few adjustments, I could tell he was still rushing through it. Frustrated, I told him to leave it and that I would finish it myself. After they left, I discovered the lock wasn't working properly at all. I ended up removing it completely and reinstalling it over the weekend, following the manufacturer's instructions, modifying the door so the deadbolt could fully extend without friction, installing the correct strike plate, and getting everything working as intended. To Vlad's credit, he offered to come back and reinstall the smart lock properly and to inspect the garage floor after I raised my concerns, which I appreciated. That's why this is still a 4-star review instead of a lower rating. Overall, I would work with Vlad again because of his communication, responsiveness, and willingness to stand behind the job. That said, next time I would make sure every agreed detail is documented in writing, and I would not make the final payment until the garage floor had fully cured and I had the opportunity to do a complete walkthrough with Vlad. Since you can't walk on a freshly applied polyaspartic top coat, the floor couldn't be properly inspected until after it had cured, and by then the issues with the finish had become apparent.

I found The Affordable & Licensed Handyman through Yelp because they had great reviews so I was interested to see how much their service fee would be for a simple job when I was looking for a plumber. I needed a license plumber due to home insurance requirement to do this installation or I would've done it myself. They were responsive when I talked to them through Yelp projects. I was shocked with how much I was quoted because it was almost double the price of the automatic shut off valve device I paid for. So I had to confirm that the price that was given to me was just to switch out the bad unit with the new one. They didn't have to do anything else like run new pipes or replace anything else. When I communicated to them that the quote was high, they asked how much did i wanted to pay. I thought they would try to be more reasonable since the name is The Affordable. I give them a range based on the prices from other plumbing company that I reached out to and they couldn't do it which I understand they can set their own prices. Maybe for big projects, they'll give more of a reasonable price which is why they have great reviews on Yelp but just to replace a bad automatic shut off valve with a brand new one, I think it was overprice so I used another plumbing company where they were very reasonable on the price.

Writing this now because I just saw an outlet underneath the sink that's not at all mounted to the wall and was reminded of how ridiculous this whole ordeal was. They'd come maybe 2 times a week, maybe less, sit in the driveway and wait for each other for a while, and they'd always forget what they were supposed to do. Then they'd say "ah ya we remember now, gotta go to Home Depot" and take another 1-2 hours. The pace of work was incredibly slow. When they were redoing our kitchen, we came home and saw that the main handyman had bought cabinets for the sink that opened straight into the fridge and stove, so you could barely open them. It was on a corner, so clearly a corner / lazy Susan cabinet was needed. Delayed the job by however many days. They cracked the sink they put in, and there's carvings in the countertops from where they messed up with sloppy cutting. When they installed the AC window units, they stained the window panes, sink, and the outside of the house with the insulation foam and didn't attempt to clean it until I asked. They didn't get much up; still stained. They didn't put calking around the countertop they put in behind the sink. There were a bunch of other times where similar things happened that I had to ask them to redo it or do a part of the job they'd missed.
