A master construction helped us to do the 500ft front yard extension (2bed&1bath). We are very satisfied with his work. A few things stand out most: - perfect scheduling: they finished the work in about 2 and half months, faster than their original estimate and much much shorter than estimate I got from other contractors (typically 5-6 months). - Reasonable price and excellent budget control: Amir quote us the reasonable price -- not the lowest one, but definitely not highest one either. We didn't pay a penny outside of the agree upon build out. He is also flexible on minor changes and give us fair quote for modifications. We decided to hire another contractor to install floor, thought that it would save us some money -- but we regretted that choice even now -- the contractor just kept coming up new extra fees and charges -- and it turned out that we paid more than Amir has quote us and the job is not totally finished after 2 weeks. - We had to live on site through the whole constructions. We found his workers hard working and polite. We plan to have Amir to do our kitchen remodeling next year and we have recommended his services to my family and friends. read more

I read Mike F's review of A Master Construction and it matches my experience exactly. Overall, A Master did a very professional job and was willing to accommodate nearly all of our specific requests, even when made on the spot. The price was fair and without exception the employees and subs were top-notch, sometimes doing more than asked when they realized that the work would not look its best otherwise (for instance, one painter repainted an entire wall that was outside of the project area because he could not have made the paint match otherwise, another used wood and paint to match the look of an outside wall to cover an ugly but necessary electrical junction. Communication was fairly good, with Amir calling most afternoons to tell us what would be done the next day. Schedule-wise there were some issues, but not any worse than is typical in the industry. I think they over-commit sometimes. Amir was good about letting us know when there would be an off day or two. Mike F's other points were right on. You should make sure that you have full agreement on what is included in the contract. To his credit, in some cases Amir provided things that he was not required to, but in a few cases I felt that some items were implicitly included that were not done. As with Mike, some of the subs used our equipment, perhaps they thought it was Amir's, but nothing was taken. After my first very successful project with Amir (kitchen remodel, see first review), we tasked him with another bigger remodel project: replacing of the furnace, adding central air conditioning, replacing a large single-pane window (16ft wide) with a newer sliding door into the backyard, replacing two more windows in bedroom and bathroom, fix stucco in the garage and completely paint it, and replacing the garage door with a self-closing door. Our house was basically a complete rebuild from a 1941 bungalow. We expanded the existing footprint by more than double and also added a detached garage. Amir was the absolute best! We bought the house in February 2014 but were not able to complete the drawings/permit process until a whopping 7 months later-- by which time a substantial amount of our resources were used up by paying rent + mortgage+ storage. The contractor we had planned to use could not fit us into his schedule so we were in a bind-- I found Amir and contacted him immediately. He was very quick to respond and had an appointment to come out and see our house. We broke ground 09/2014 and moved in at the end of January! Everyone he has on his team was courteous, responsible, and just very good at what they do. the craftsmanship that went into our house was much better than many of the new construction track homes we have seen. They did everything for us from completely demolishing the entire old kitchen, to building the new kitchen from the ground up (electrical/lighting, appliance installation, backsplash, countertops, etc.). We had a 500sq ft addition. Selected A Master because they had good reviews on Yelp and they were the cheapest. A Master did a great job for us and we are very pleased with everything. There were a few issues but we expected it. Just set aside 10% of your budget for those unexpected issue. Try not to drill down on the smaller details and think of the big picture. It will save you lots of grey hair. Anyway, here's why A Master worked for us. A Master is a general contractor. They do a great job if that is all you are looking for. They are not architect or designer. We came to them with architecture plan and city permits. They buy rough material and build per plan. And very fast! They were done within 2 months from foundation to framing and roof. Our whole project took 5 months mainly because of delays of our cabinets and finished. When we had our mats ready, A Master scheduled the crew to complete it very quickly. Another benefit for is we did our job during a slow season, November to April. Not sure how it will be during peak summer months. I worked with Amir exclusively, I refused to work with his office assistant Asad. She is not very customer service oriented. And for that reason, I deducted a star. I still have more project to do and will be using them in the future. I just completed a popcorn removal and full house interior paint job with A Master Construction. Amir has been great all throughout the project and has not only completed the job beautifully, but has even finished it earlier than scheduled. If you are looking for a great general contractor with reasonable prices, look no further! We were trying to avoid any work in our house for years since remodeling had been a very unpleasant experience for us. It is difficult to find a great company, a lot of construction companies don't return your calls, the ones who show up forget to provide a quote.. Sounds familiar? Our experience with A Master was the complete opposite. I called their front office and they picked up the phone. There were able to set up an appointment for the same evening although they had a very busy schedule! Amir looked at the work needed and we received a very professional and detailed proposal in two business days! They said that they would be able to start the project in a few weeks and finish in 3 weeks. They also answered all of my questions in a very timely manner. (we had a lot of questions.) They started the project on time and finished it on the date they promised. Did I tell you that they finished the project on time although several other things came up during the project and we increased the work by 60%? :) Amir has a very polite crew who are dedicated to delivering quality work. They took the time to ensure that we are happy with the work rather than rushing to move on to the next project. Amir employs the experts in each area. We lived in our house for 3 years and then we decided to add on to the square footage of our house. We added about 1500 sqft on the second story and completely remodeled the existing downstairs. Everything was brought down to the foundation and rebuilt again. All this was done in just 5 months. Most of the other contractors were quoting me around 8 months. His speed of execution was one of the main reasons for me hiring A Master Construction. Main points about A Master Construction: 1. Amir attains the speed at which he executes mainly by the size of his crew. At any day he would have atlas 10 people working on your project. Most of my second floor framing was completed over a weekend by some 10-15 guys working together. 2. Amir schedules the inspections way ahead of time and that keeps him on track with all the timelines. 3. He accomodates most changes without much hesitation. No project can execute without changes and he understands that. I actually appreciate some of the changes that Amir suggested himself. 4. He owns up to the mistakes that his crew made and makes corrections without additional charges. 5. His finishing guys are really good specially the flooring, tiling and painting guys. 6. His plumber is a bit slow and his electrician has a bit of an attitude but what really matters is they do a good job. 7. The Amaster team is thorough and professional. They were very prompt in returning my initial calls for quotes .We had a couple of consultations at the job site and the interaction was smooth and professional. The office staff (Asal) was very efficient, prompt and courteous while working with us. They were open to us making a multitude of edits and adding details to the contracts. They started on time and finished just over the estimated timeline which was due a couple of hitches with the scheduling of the city inspectors and such. When issues were raised in the initial inspections , we asked for Amir to be there for future inspections which he did. Any additions were easy to add on since their change order process is pretty simple and efficient. Their team of workers are polite and courteous and very prompt. Towards the end of the project, there was a bit of miscommunication since based on their instructions we started dealing with folks in charge at the job site but based on my experience it is best to deal with Amir directly even if the issue is trivial irrespective of how busy he is. We also found another issue after most of the finishing was complete which I think could have been caught earlier . But I must add that after the project was complete and the payments were complete, there were a few issues that popped up and when we called them, they sent over their team member to fix the pending issues. My husband and I desperately needed to remodel a dated 1-bedroom unit and the dark, uninviting common areas in a small, Victorian apartment building. We attempted to do it ourselves, but with two young kids, there just wasn't time. With the aid of other yelp reviews, we called and met several contractors to get bids for our relatively small project. Right from the start, it was a pleasure working with Amir. He was on time for our appointment, and he didn't rush me while I showed him what needed to be done and described each and every item on my extensive list. His bid was very reasonable and ended up being similar to that of another contractor. However, his unassuming way and his innate ability to establish rapport earned him our business. Amir and his crew started on time. A week in, we of course decided to increase the scope of the project. He said that he would try to finish on time, but with the additional work, the end date might be pushed out a week. Given that we asked him to rewire the entire unit and tile the back entryway, pushing out the end date seemed more than reasonable to me. Amir didn't finish on the end date...He finished slightly ahead of it. Throughout the project, Amir was extremely accessible and always returned our texts or phone calls by the end of the day if not within the hour (or immediately). He and his crew were respectful and courteous not only to us, but to the tenants as well. If he needed to turn the water off, he gave us several days notice, so we in turn could notify the tenants. There were times during the project, we had wanted something done one way, and it was done another way. Whether it was due to miscommunication on our part or his part, in the end, it did not matter to him. He wanted to know what we wanted him to change, and he changed it to make sure we were happy with the results. No anger, no pointing fingers, no raised voices, no price adjusting, just this is where we are, let's fix it. I've talked about how easy it was to work with Amir and his crew, but I have yet to touch upon the quality of their work. Daniel, his tile guy, did a superb job with the shower, the kitchen floor, and back entryway. Sam, his electrician, wired up tricky circuits and was extremely knowledgeable and fast. His granite guy (I apologize, I don't know his name) did an amazing job with the countertops. Carlos, Mohamad, Miguel, and Oswaldo did an awesome job demolishing and replumbing the kitchen and shower, hanging drywall, mudding, sanding, installing kitchen cabinets, installing picture rails, crown moulding and baseboard. Now, the unit and the common areas look simply beautiful. The day after they finished, Amir called me and said that if there's anything that needs to be fixed, just call him, and he'll send one of his guys out. I really appreciated that and know that he was being sincere and meant it. Near the end of the project, I said to Amir and Carlos, "You probably hate us by now," and Amir shook his head smiling and said, "No, no. It's important to us that you're happy." A huge thank you to A Master for doing a fantastic job on my hardwood floors and master shower! Even though they were already extremely busy with other projects, their team was able to accommodate my timeline and they somehow even finished everything earlier than expected. All of their pricing estimates for the various parts of each project were competitive with what I've been quoted elsewhere, and they never cut corners on anything, always making sure that everything was done with quality. This was my first experience with hiring contractors to work on my home, and I'll definitely be calling A Master for all my projects in the future. Here are some things that I've learned that will make the experience go as expected: - Going in, you definitely want to have a solid idea on exactly what you want so you can convey it to the head contractor as soon as possible. They schedule different teams to work on specific days in advance, and any changes will slow down the project timeline considerably. Because of this you'll also want to make sure that all the necessary finishing material is ready for them when they need it, so do your homework ahead of time on what you want to use so you can buy it as soon as possible. - Their team works fast, almost too fast! Once they are done with one part of the project, they will quickly move on to the next. You will want to make sure to check in on everything a couple of times a day just in case you need them to change anything, as they will not stop to get your okay before continuing on. - Call or text the head contractor at any time of day with any questions or concerns, he will always respond immediately. It's definitely better to let him know your thoughts as soon as possible to make sure that everyone's on the same page. I also wanted to give a big shout out to Abraham, the guy who did the tile work for my master shower. He really went above and beyond, working long hours to get the shower tiled and grouted exactly the way I wanted. I'm very impressed with how detail-oriented he was in putting in the effort to measure everything out so precisely, making all the tiles line up as perfectly and as beautiful as possible. Our first remodel and my family and I were looking for a good contractor like others. We had about 4 contractors come out and were still not happy with performance. Some never called back others took awhile to get back to us. Found A Master on Yelp and gave them a call. Right away, I reached a person at the office and they set up a quick consult. My wife meet Amir and he was very professional and to the point. We received his bid and it was below and competitive with other contractors. We were impressed with his follow up and consult and decided to give them a try. The project was slated for three weeks and we could not believe they could finish in time. We had a total bathroom redo and replacing of carpet to wood floor. Oh well we trust Amir and his crew. Well let me tell you, the first day Amir brought a huge crew to demolish the bathroom and carpet. They were punctual and professional. They did quick, clean work. Amir would come by and oversee the operation and keep in contact. He was a stickler for keeping everything clean and running. We were already impressed. During the reno, we found termite damage in the bathroom. A Master was quick in giving a solution and at a minimal extra cost. We were happy the work was done correctly and to last. AMaster Construction and Amir did a great job with our home extension project. We did an extension on our house (added 1 bedroom, 1.5baths and extended the foyer). Of course I did my due diligence in getting estimates from different contractors. But AMaster came in with a lower bid and shorter time span for completion. Amir said it would take 3 months but they actually finished it in 2 months and 10 days! This was huge for us, a large family of 6! Amir from the start has been a great guy to work with. Most of the workers (and there are several involved, from the people who lay down the foundation, to the roof guys, to the plumber etc) were good and knew what to do. Amir is the quintessential, stay on task Project Manager, always had tasks completed much before the several inspections. From getting permits to following with inspectors, they did what they needed to do, without us worrying about it. You need to set your expectations with them and keep an open line of communication so that they know if you are not happy with something. Amir is quite understanding and will fix it for you. Reza, you are a good guy, cleaning up after the crew, picking up last minute items and being very polite with the customer. The only time was towards the end when we felt a little rushed but otherwise I would DEFINITELY recommend them to anyone who wants a referral. I purchased my house in Newark, CA, in December 2014. The house needed a lot of work and I set my goals on getting the kitchen and master bathroom totally re-done, skylights and sun tunnels installed, an overhaul of the electrical panel, new recessed lighting throughout, and paint in the living areas and the ceilings throughout the house. Amir's crew was able to do all this - and more - within 5 weeks. They started work at the beginning of February, and I moved in during the first week of March, 2015. I had asked my realtor to recommend contractors for my remodeling project. In her shortlist, she noted that A Master had done an "amazing job" with a property she viewed in San Jose. That proved to be a very good pointer to what was to come. I made initial contact with Amir in mid February, 2015. I sought bids from him and another contractor at the same time. Amir promised the bid within a week but turned it around in 2 days. The other contractor promised it in 2 days but took more than a week, and I kept on having to prompt him to get it. The other contractor's scope of work was confusing and difficult to follow; after a lot of time reviewing it, I concluded it would probably exceed Amir's bid by about 30%. By contrast, Amir's bid was very straightforward. Nevertheless, the key thing to note is that A Master Construction bids are "inclusive" bids: anything not listed -- even if you thought you talked about it when outlining the project -- is not in the quote. So you need to be clear about every line item that you want to have done before work starts. But with that caveat, A Master sticks to the contract and their numbers are very competitive. Although it was clear from my first phone call to A Master that they had a lot of projects ongoing, Amir worked hard to get my project scheduled quickly. I can only say that I was impressed with how fast Amir's crew works. Things I thought might take days, were reduced to hours. It was very clear for the duration of the work that Amir's crew work hard and are very diligent. They were also courteous and professional. I never had to worry whether they would be on the job when planned. As the project unfolded, I realized that I needed some closets redone. I asked Amir to quote me. It was "no problem" to do that and he provided me with a revised contract. Amazingly, the extra work was folded in to the other matters ongoing. On the various occasions that I spoke with Amir's subcontractors, they spoke highly of Amir and A Master - freely offering that they were happy to work for Amir and glad to work for someone who has such high standards. Amir is also very knowledgeable about fittings, materials, fixtures, and what works and what does not. So, on several occasions when I had questions about a choice of material, or a positioning of an item, Amir provided either a common sense answer or a good suggestion that worked well aesthetically. Every job needs a style consultant. I write this -- two months on from the job's completion -- so I have had a chance to test everything out that A Master did. Not only does everything hold up, I like the finish. There are a number of ways that this proves true. First, at each step in the process the City inspectors approved the work that A Master had done. Second, for a few lingering loose ends at the end of the job, Amir made sure to send his crew back to finish everything up. That meant that I did not have to keep calling to get small things finished: I want to stress that A Master followed through on this without any questions being asked. And that is despite that fact that my location - Newark - is quite far out for a lot of the San Jose-based crew. Third, the finish is overall superb. The pictures tell the story, and it should be apparent that Amir's crew have been trained to produce high quality workmanship and are expected to do that. This is something that I value, and as it can be done, then it should be asked of any contractor. Although I don't expect to do anything so major again soon, I will happily seek Amir out if and when the time comes and ask his team to work on my house again. After a major project like this is done, you have to reflect on what you will tell your friends. Everyone has stories of remodeling projects that were chaotic, ran over time, over budget and were sloppily done. So most people have bad stories to share. If you want to be the exception, and tell your story that the work was done quickly, looks great, and was on budget, with no mess left behind, you should give Amir a call. We hired A Master Construction for remodeling our Kitchen. The quote from Amir is fairly priced. We received other quotes less than A Master Construction, but not sure those are reliable. We feel the A Master Construction is reliable and committed. They started the job on the promised date and finished well within the committed period in the contract. They also recommend cabinet and granite stores to us. The team is professional at work, but It's always recommended to regularly check the progress of the project by yourself. Amir and Reza were always responsive for a phone call or text messages. . Reza visited worksite on a daily basis to check the progress. They agreed to do our last minute changes with additional cost. We decided it was time to do a full kitchen and master bath remodel. For the kitchen, we also wanted to knock out a wall and add a new patio door for access to the pool area. Exactly, what we wanted was a little vague because we have never done anything like this before. After looking for contractors, we signed up with A Master Construction. The contract was clearly written and easy to understand, plus we felt we could work well with him which was important because we needed flexibility. During the initial meeting, Amir was able to point out several options which helped us visualize what we wanted and give us some very good suggestions. Before the project started, we had some time to get acquainted with how to select materials. Amir gave us a number of excellent suppliers and places to visit. According to contract, the entire job was scheduled to complete within 30 days from demolition to final inspection. Previous experience with other contractors led me to be somewhat skeptical about this. But once A Master Construction started, they were on the job every day including Saturdays. Several times, there were as many as 10 people on the job at once. In the end, despite adding an entryway closet, a new front door with side panel and frame, picture window, balcony and stair railing, plus many smaller items, everything was done within the original 30 day window. Very impressive. For all of the changes, Amir was quite flexible and accommodating. They were carefully tracked with change orders and reasonable cost. We couldn't be happier with the final result. The workmanship is excellent and the kitchen and bath are quite impressive. We would definitely hire A Master Construction again in the future. read more

We picked A Master Construction, based on Yelp reviews, to replace our carpet/tiles with hardwood floors, countertop/backsplash, window trimming, and painting work. Amir was very friendly to us and we liked pretty much everyone, in the crew, we interacted with. The flooring guys that Amir referred to were outstanding. The painting crew was fantastic - outstanding painting, patching and texturing work. Granite and our backsplash looks great! We love the way our windows look after the trimming work. We had to redo our back yard and after looking for a contractor, we hired A Master. Amir and his team worked out great. Amir suggested an economical way of doing it, which helped us in keeping the project in budget. His team was mostly on time and finished the work as previously agreed upon. We needed to gut and reconstruct three bathrooms in our 1970s era house in Almaden Valley. We discovered A Master on Yelp after wasting several months working with another contractor to try to get our project designed within our budget. Amir quickly gave us a proposal for just the labor on the project. We agreed to purchase all the materials directly. This way we not only got Amir's contractor discount price, but we didn't pay any mark-up on top of that. Furthermore, where the other contractor had steered us to single sources (overpriced) for all the materials, Amir recommended great places for us to shop where we could choose from multiple options and get great prices - for cabinets, vanity tops, tile, plumbing fixtures, lights, etc. Since he often builds for his own account, Amir really knows the best places to shop for everything and we got great prices. The project was completed within our budget after all! A Master has assembled a core team of skilled craftsmen and subcontractors who all are committed to the very highest standards of quality workmanship. Everything they installed was just perfect, extremely consistent, excellent quality. The finished product was far better than any other work we've ever had done at our house. Guests who have seen it are awestruck at the quality. In addition to this quality craftsmanship, his team is consistently clean, polite, responsive and fast. We always felt comfortable with his crews in our home. Amir and his team are totally trustworthy and are all deeply concerned about pleasing the company's clients. There were a few instances during the project where we had miscommunications with Amir - he remembered one thing and I remembered another. Nonetheless, he always wanted what was best for the project. This required a bit of patience and flexibility on my part, but it was always worth it. I would recommend future clients recognize that Amir is very busy and while there may be an occasional misunderstanding, in the end you will be very happy. So be patient. My wife and I are not easy clients, we're hard to please. We are totally pleased by the work done by A Master Construction. My experience with A Master Construction was positive. I had the following work done: - Hardwood floors in the whole condo - New counters and backsplash in the kitchen - Renovation of two bathrooms I'd place the quote somewhere between the median and the third quartile. The contractor who re-modelled my friend's home was about 25% cheaper, but almost every fixture he installed (from electrical outlets, to stairs, to faucets) had some issue or the other and the work was generally quite shoddy, so I decided to go with A Master because of the positive Yelp reviews. I'm glad I did, as working with Amir was very easy. Like a lot of the good Software Engineers I work with in my job, he has a sharp brain and a good memory. It takes him just a few minutes to grasp any requirement, and he delivers. This allowed me to keep conversations fairly short, stay pretty hands off throughout the whole project and get a good outcome. He is also quick and responsive via phone or text. He also seems to have assembled a team of experts who are detail oriented and passionate about doing a good job. From the painters, to the guys who installed the tiles, to the guys who did the counters and sinks, its hard to find flaws in their work. The post project support has so far been pretty good, and they generally seem like guys who stand behind their work. I have no reservations in recommending them. read more

Amir and his crew remodeled our kitchen recently, and we are very pleased with the results. They executed fast, without issues and in the expected time. I would underline that service was very professional, and level of execution was of high quality. Amir walked us through the whole process, and recommended very good places where to choose materials from. The only thing we did was to choose and he took care of the rest. The crew was very professional and knowledgeable: Finishes are perfect, backsplash is very well installed, and distances are exactly as planed. They cleaned every day, they were very gentle with us and were ok on doing last minute changes every time we asked. We just completed our North San Jose home remodel project for Kitchen, Flooring, all bathrooms (2 full and one half) and couldn't be happier that we picked AMaster and Amir to do the job. Quote: We only compared one other quote before going ahead with AMaster Construction who gave us a no nonsense straight forward quote with a detailed breakdown of labor and materials. The job: On the first day, a big crew turned up and they went about methodically breaking down the kitchen. Amir was there early morning to check if everything was all set to go ahead. He also made sure we got the permit before they began the work. He used to visit the house regularly to check up on the ongoing work. His crew also checks in with him at the end of every day to give a report. Amazing project management! The crew is very professional and each one is an expert in their domain. They cleaned up each day after their work. The tile guys who worked on our kitchen backsplash and the shower stalls did an amazing job getting the intricate pattern right. And as other yelpers have mentioned, they do work Saturdays to finish the job on time. Amir helped us pick materials when we were initially reeling with confusion about tile/grout/bullnose, granite/travertine/marble or the hundred other options that we had to traverse. As any good contractor, he knows the pros/cons of different materials, which manufacturers are good and most importantly, whether that will look good for your home. Change Orders: We added on a few things once the project began and they handled each change order precisely with the new details. There were no hidden costs or inflated bills. And yes, they still finished the project on time. One thing to note is that Amir is extremely busy and won't have all the specifics of your project but he made it a point to check back on the change order for reference and would either call/text or email you back with the details. They did an awesome job with indoor paint and Amir again helped with picking the colors. As anyone can imagine, matching colors and imagining what the room will look like with literally a million paint shades can be exhausting. Towards the end of the project, Amir went on vacation and handed off the project to Reza his manager. And whenever we had some things to be looked into or fixed, Reza would come in with printout of the list and meticulously go about fixing each one. Now that's paying attention to detail! read more

After A Master did such a beautiful job on my kitchen, I decided to finish off the bathroom. The house is 100 years old and I had already replaced the toilet and sink and put in a vanity with sink. I wanted the old shower-over-claw-foot-tub replaced with just a shower. The shower rod hung from the ceiling, circling the entire tub, and the walls were original lathe & plaster, not waterproof. The new shower takes up the entire tub area, from wall to wall 75". With the help of Dawn from Bedrosians I was able to coordinate the new tile with the existing floor and vanity. Each step of the process was done meticulously and expertly and I am very happy with the result. At the same time they repiped with copper pipe and there is now more water pressure (as well as hot water in the bathroom sink!). Makes me feel like I'd been camping for 7 years. read more

After working with three well-known General Contractors (GCs) on large remodels to a new construction in Palo Alto I was disappointed in the end with my experience. At the beginning each one of the GCs was aggressive on cost, timelines and promised perfection with quality however they all fell below expectations at the end. In addition, charged a lot more in change orders. Amir (A Construction) came recommended by a close friend and I included him in the bid process for a new project (kitchen remodel). A Master beat everyone one on price and timeline by a significant amount. A Masters bid had no bull shit costs, project management fees etc. At first I was worried how he will they deliver the project at half the cost and timelines compared to 3 other bids I was comparing with. I took the risk and signed the contract with A Master. It turned out to the best ever experience I've had working with a General Contractor. He exceeded all my expectations and went above and beyond. He personally provided oversight on the project, his teams worked long hours, project was completed ahead of promise date and exactly at the cost in the bid proposal. In addition, he picked up his phone each time I called him and make himself available for meetings at any time I requested. The quality of plumbling, electrical work, Granite work, framing, painting....was flawless. Amir puts all other GCs to shame and I can't recommend him enough. He is the best in the industry and I'd use him for all my projects in the future. Further, I'd be happy to show the work he's done to anyone who's looking to consider him for a project so they can see it for themselves. I would give him 6 stars for the kitchen remodel. read more

Our project scope was two fold: 1. Addition of ~500sf (2 bedroom, 2 full bath) pushing front and side - includes switching garage door from side opening to front street opening, and 2. Remodel existing 2 bathrooms and master bedroom. A 6 figure $ job. Bidding and Awarding Contract: Like most people, we gathered 4 bids during our search for general contractors between October-December, 2013. Amir was the third contractor to call on my list, after finding this company's raving review on YELP, but the first to return my phone call, schedule an appointment, and provide a timely bid (The first two were more established larger construction companies, but due to high construction demand then (and even now), they were very slow to respond....) As first time home renovators of such scale, we found Amir to be very polite, understands his construction business (we consider him young to have such a bustling business), and has good communication with us and his office assistant, Asal, after the first few meetings. We also did check out his references by telephone and physically visiting the brand new construction he just finished back in October 2013. Based on strong and positive references, the fact that he is able to put on market a brand new construction($1M+) in Willow Glen that sold in less than 1 month, has good and timely communication with us, and we want to support young and hardworking owners, my husband and I decided to give Amir our business. Although his bid was not the lowest (out of the 4), we found his communication superior of the 4 and warranty the best. We went into contract in December 2013, and scheduled the construction to start in March 2014. During Construction: PROS: 1. Timing: Amir promised 3 months for this project from schedule start date, but due to PGE gas/electric delay for 2 weeks, we ended up with 3.5 months of construction. We got to move back in 3.5 months!! (sweet) 2. Communication: Amir uses an iPhone, which makes life easier as he would inform us via text when inspections have passed, and when he would need certain items from us. Throughout the 3.5 months, my husband and I kept in communication with him via telephone and text. 3. Material Quality: Amir does not use cheap materials. From my minimal knowledge of construction materials, he uses materials that are up to code and are good quality. 4. Handling Changes by us: Amir was very responsive and fast on dealing with changes/comments made by us. We made several changes to the architectural plan, and a lot of changes in the finishing materials and Amir was able to see it through on time. A lot of pressure on his people but they do it right. 5. Covers all Workmanship: Amir has a large crew that can cover the scope of the project. And are qualified to enable permits to be passed as planned. 6. Adequate heads up time on next happenings: Amir informs us of what's going to happen in construction every few days. either by phone or face to face meetings. We find that meeting up face-to-face with the contractor frequently helps keep the construction in checks and balance. CONS: 1. Tiling workmanship can vary from people to people: We had four bathrooms to tile, including the family room, that required more tiling to fit the extended space. I guess not every tiler has the same experience, since some appear better than others. Overall, tiling workmanship is above expectations. We still have 1 area of shower floor where water doesn't completely flow down to the drain, and Amir was quick to provide solutions and take action. 2. A mistake was made for the public works permit, which resulted in having to re-do a section of the sidewalk 3x. This cost time and $ for the contractor but more so, inconvenience to us. Our front driveway completion was pretty much delayed another month... We gave Amir the benefit of the doubt on this mistake, since he helped us fulfill the move back into the house in 3.5months. After Construction: PROS: 1. When we find something a-mis in the house due to construction, Amir is very responsive to the feedback and would understand what we are talking about before sending his people over to resolve the issue. Overall: As new home renovators that tend to be very hands on and make multiple changes during construction phase, we highly recommend A-Master Construction. read more

A Master construction did a complete remodel of our master bathroom. Outstanding job. The personnel took great care in their work and did everything perfectly. If something was not perfect, they would take it out and fix it. The men were very courteous and took care of the surroundings. They also cleaned the place each day after they finished their work. We are very happy that we chose to go with this company. There are few areas where A Master could do better. - Be open to ideas. We are were hoping to relocate the toilet. A Master was hesitant to do it and kept avoiding the idea. Luckily for them, it worked out that we could not do it due to the structural set-up. We also wanted to use Ikea furniture and A Master was uncomfortable handling it - It would have been nice if A Master created an approximate plan of action. We had to continuously coordinate on location of things as the project went along. It was not efficient - Amir, the main contractor, went on vacation in the middle of the project. That is fine, but he never told us he is going on vacation. His men mentioned it in passing. It would have been nice to have a hand-off to the person attending the project in his absence - A Master has a payment schedule by milestone. I would preferred to write fewer checks. A deposit, x% in the middle and balance at the end - A follow-up visit at the end of the project would have been nice. It would have been good for A Master to make sure everything was done to our satisfaction. It would also have given the company the opportunity to know if we are interested in completing other jobs around our house read more
