Changed light switch and it stopped working on the same evening. So he asked me to pay $900 USD for changing 8 light bulb and replacing 1 switch (that already broke). We managed to negotiate it down to $600. Absolute rip off. I will be checking if he has a Florida license and certainly report his business if he doesn't. In Florida handyman must have valid licenses in order to do any electrical work like replacing electrical switches and to perform any work over $500. I want to leave a fair review and be clear that Manny did not end up having to do any actual work at my rental property. This review is a reflection of my overall experience and the integrity of this business' practices and its pricing model. My tenant told me a window panel came out of the wall, which ended up being not true. The window can be removed if two slider buttons are pressed and the tenant accidentally did that. The sliding window can easily be put back into place. I called Manny's service to originally investigate the issue and overall the communication was great, he showed up on time, and I am happy with those aspects of the service. My issue is that Manny told me the charge would be $150 for the first hour of work, and we both assumed the window actually needed to be fixed. Given that the service call was less than 5 mins and the Manny did not have to do anything, $150 feels like overkill and just doesn't sit right in terms of the right thing to do here. Was it an agreed upon charge? Yes, you can argue it was. Is it fair? That's subjective. Personally, I don't think I can do business with someone longer-term if they think it's right to charge $150 for a visit. On top of that, I was told I was lucky I wasn't lied to about my window being broken and needing a more expensive fix. And for anyone thinking I'm just angry I have to pay, my tenant offered to cover the bill so this is not money out of my own pocket. It's the principle of it all. read more

Manny proved incapable of fixing numerous problems in our house, and frankly has in some cases made them significantly worse. He also has claimed that numerous things are 'unfixable' when the other handy man I hired to un-do Manny's damage was able to fix them easily. While Manny is one of the cheapest handymen in LA, he is also the worst.
