Hands down most fresh and delicious carrot cake I have ever had!!! 5 stars for the cake and great service. I however do not recommend the chili. I'm a big chili fan and the vegan chili I did not like one bit. Also their tuna is freaking delicious and their substitute for ranch is great. Vegan and vegetarian friendly for sure! Update: I have given this little store a second chance after learning of new ownership. I've been in at least four times now and find the staff extremely helpful, and the pre-packaged foods much improved. I have yet to try an entree from the kitchen, but every time I've been in the cafe seating was well-populated. They carry a large variety of Three Twins Ice Cream, including Dad's Cardamom (my personal favorite that I can't find anywhere). I wish them much luck and success in this area. Longtime customer even back to West Alabama days. Came with my family Wednesday for the Wednesday Lunch Special. First of all my son ordered Burger Plain and Dry and it was piled up with Red Onions/Pickles and Lettuce/Tomatoes so we had to have it redone! (he dislikes onions/pickles). As soon as we received the other two plates both had cold meatloaf and the large mashed potatoe serving (always previously) was a little scoop only. The restaurant has very healthy food options and the food is freshly prepared. The only catch is to eat healthy you are spending a little bit more than if you ate non-organic/healthy foods. example 2 dinner entrees were respectively $11.99 and $12.99. We love going to Movable Feast as a family! Such delicious food and healthy options. We are actually sitting in New York at lunch talking about how much we love MF right now. We do however think that the decor is not indicative of the food quality. We vote to downsize your vitamin product section and to invest more into the restaurant and the decor! Old Mexican roof tile and cowboy posters should be swapped out with more modern, natural elements. A Movable Feast could be the Tiny Boxwoods of the Villages if it just upped its aesthetics game a bit! We love your staff as well! read more

Food is good, however, A Movable Feast began as customer service, health-oriented, and let's empower and educate individuals. The last couple of times I've been there and asked about ingredients, it seemed the owners/workers/servers were irritated and agitated. The ingredients were not visible and when they had to call to ask the baker of the goods, there was no answer to my ingredient questions. I just discovered this. Apparently my husband has known about it for years. We moved to Spring Branch and I wanted to try something new but post Harvey some of our spots closed early so he pulled in here instead. It's a little grocery store that also has a cafe and bakery with a juice bar and lots of options for any diet. I tried hibiscus iced tea, vegan chili with a pita bread triangle ( satisfying but I did have to add Tabasco in their for my tastes) , vegan choc cupcake ( very moist). I had to finish my husband immunity juice - it had carrots and apple in it and the Serrano in their was too strong for him but went perfect with what I ordered. He got checked Chicken tacos and really enjoyed the vegan cupcake too. ( it's big enough to share). We sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful garden. read more

I visit the restaurant often, and I buy many items from the store bulk department. I probably visit A Moveable Feast, 3 times a month. I used to go to the old location, inside the loop, quite often. Items to try are the Macrobiotic Plate with Buckwheat Soba, the Chicken Sandwich (husband orders, because it's one of the normal items), the daily special, the Rainbow Trout, the hummingbird cake, the pre- packaged salads. I have only had one bad experience, and I believe they must have fired that girl. It would be nice to.see the wheatgrass back on the menu, but I'm probably the only person ordering it there. Yes, I have been told they were not able to get it; however, I happen to work in the business and know that's incorrect. I meet people here often, if I can get away with it. It's a healthy neighborhood place, next to the pet store, and I hope it stays open for many years because I do plan to continue to patronize this establishment as long as I can get away with it. Additionally, it you enjoy specialty items that are offered at places like Whole Foods, but do not want to drive over there to get it, this is a place for you. They are on par to more expensive than WF, but the neighborhood can support it and it's more convenient than anything else, so I will keep picking up my random items when I'm in need. The bulk herbs department is my favorite part of the store. They usually have whatever I am looking to purchase, and the woman who works there during the day (she has worked there forever, and knows me by sight), is helpful, knowledgeable, and always very friendly. The cashier whom I placed my order with was not the warmest person. She was very short and quick with her answers and did not crack a smile once. I did not feel welcome nor will I ever return. On top of her cold demeanor, she mumbled when she talked and I had to ask her to repeat herself. I ended up ordering what I THOUGHT was vegetable soup, only to drive back to my office and realize it was a chicken vegetable soup. The young women working the counter are as inviting as an unseasoned block of tofu. They do not greet you, let alone smile or say "thank you." They barely look up when you place your order and the only thing they know how to say is, "Is that all?" It is almost as if they are being forced to work. If you want to eat something healthy that actually tastes good then this is the place for you! Now I'm not the type of person that craves vegetables (the main way I consume them is via juice/smoothies), but my go-to here is the veggie quesadilla. It doesn't even taste like you're eating vegetables! It's flavorful and filling! But if you want some protein, don't worry they have you covered. I will sometimes add the chicken which is juicy and adds extra depth to the flavor. The rice and beans are a little bland but if you mix them together with the pico you'll be alright. I can't speak much for the other food because I love the quesadilla so much that I mainly come here specifically for that. This is also one of the few places I don't mind eating alone due to the hominess and laid back atmosphere. Everyone I've encountered here is friendly. My personal favorite part is that it's not just a restaurant but a health food store. The food items you can find cheaper elsewhere but they also have organic and natural medicine/supplements which might be more difficult to find, even at whole foods. I'm a younger hippie, and I really like the old-school hippie vibe of the cafe and store. Their vegan chili could fool some meatheads. The staff is nice. But. For a health/natural food place, they could do a little better on vegan options in some categories. None of the dozen-plus baked goods were vegan. There are many vegan or vegetarian menu items, but some sections totally lack vegan options - no vegan salads or sandwiches! How about a tempeh or tofu, avocado, and tomato sandwich? They have those ingredients for other dishes. This place was almost empty during prime dinner time, and I know there are hungry vegans in Houston who would love this space if the menu were jiggered just a bit. I would definitely still recommend it as a vegan-friendly place, but the menu could use some updating. You can get vegan chili, guacamole, a veggie patty, vegan tacos, macrobiotic plate, or tofu/mushroom fajitas. This place has a great Memorial location, large airy cafe space, pleasant staff. Hi, I've been going to A Moveable Feast for many years! It's a Houston Landmark! It's very down-home and feels like you've COME HOME; not pretentious at all! There's an outdoor area with lots of tropical plants, and one afternoon I sat there with a friend while it drizzled rain, and it was cozy and intimate. Inside is great, too. There are many loyal customers who arrive for lunch. I am vegan and could eat a bathtub full of the vegan chili. YUMMY! There are loads of non-vegan options, also. Great menu, and healthy juices. I always find something new and interesting for my kitchen, or something heavenly like the Cashmere Blueberry Pomegranate Hand & Body Lotion I got last week. It will make you SWOON! I absolutely love coming to this place! The staff is so knowledgable and they have an amazing selection of herbs and essential oils. The music is very ambient and calming. They aren't pushy in the sales tactics but make sure you are acknowledged and taken care of, which I like very much. It certainly beats going to a corporate health food store where most of the kids who work in those places are working their way through college or reading PC books about globalism and recycling and don't really know what's up. Natural and organic, but not exactly the greatest. I went here on a whim to try their tuna steak sandwich, but opted for their Cranberry Walnut Chicken Salad sandwich instead. The chicken salad was good, but on soft bread? It threw it off a LOT. It was just a mess of sogginess. It would have been better if they would have served it on a toasted bread. A co-worker suggested this place for lunch yesterday, and I was eager to give it a try since I had never heard of it before. I had been in the same parking lot on multiple occasions, but I have NEVER once noticed this place in there - it doesn't stand out unless you are looking for it. The place is part health store part restaurant, so it is unique in that sense. When we arrived, it was not busy (11:30ish), but the line was quite long by the time we got our food. I ordered to the salmon and avocado sandwich, which came on focaccia bread and side of blue corn chips, and it was a pretty solid sandwich. All the pins were removed from the salmon, which a lot of places seem to not be able to accomplish, and the avocado and lettuce were both fresh. I believe the sandwich cost just under $12, so it wasn't bad. I didn't feel like I was about to bust at the seams after eating, not did I feel hungry, so it seemed to be the perfect size. This business is a dual café and supplement store, and under new management. The café space is very open with a tile floor and wooden tables and chairs. There are booths around two sides of the room and they have WIFI. It is a casual and homey place - not too fancy but clean and comfortable. You order at a counter and they give you a pager to let you know when your food is ready. There is a covered outdoor patio that is shady with a garden on one side (a nice spot to sit and quietly enjoy your meal). The new management is working to upgrade, paint, and repair. I love that they are keeping the original atmosphere while putting it in good shape. If you are a vegetarian this place is like heaven. There were so many options. I love the spinach and mushroom enchiladas and my husband is a fan of the vegetarian chili. They do have items with chicken, beef, and fish, but you can be sure they use meat raised with no antibiotics and that they have not added trans-fats. They have daily specials like Elk Burger with home cut fries or Kale Salad with a nut crusted goat cheese patty. They also have some delightful daily soup specials. This is a small neighborhood place served by friendly and helpful staff. The prices are reasonable, the service is very good, and the food is good and prepared in a healthful way. read more
