I have to admit, after reading some of the Yelp reviews, I was hesitant about bringing my dad to…read moreAlcott. A friend of mine had a good experience there with her mother, though, so we decided to give it a chance. I'm glad we did. My dad stayed at Alcott for about 4 months, and overall we had a very positive experience. The nurses, caregivers, PT, and OT staff were wonderful with him. They were patient, attentive, and genuinely caring toward my 90-year-old dad. Most importantly, he left much stronger and in much better physical condition than when he arrived. One thing that really stood out to me was how clean the facility was. There always seemed to be someone cleaning, and the staff truly tried their best to care for the residents. I know people complain about the food, but realistically it's hospital-style food, and they have to prepare meals that work for elderly residents with different health needs. We ended up bringing some of my dad's favorite foods whenever we visited, which helped. I also want to give a special thank you to Ms. Fern from Social Services. She was incredibly helpful in guiding me through the process of finding an assisted living facility for my dad, and she even followed up after his discharge to check on how he was doing. That meant a lot to our family. My dad was lucky and ended up having great roommates who looked out for each other, which was really sweet to see. Thank you to the entire Alcott team for taking care of my dad and helping our family through a difficult time.

On multiple occasions, I've asked simple questions regarding my family members well-being or care…read moreroutine and have been met with rudeness, dismissiveness, or even raised voices. Most recently, I was spoken to in a tone that felt condescending and unprofessional, which was upsetting and completely uncalled for. I fully understand that this is a high-stress environment, and I always try to be respectful in my interactions. However, I believe every family deserves to be treated with courtesy and dignity--especially when advocating for a loved one's care.

I wouldn't even give this physical therapy clinic one star, and I would never recommend it to…read moreanyone. I went there for treatment for both of my knees due to arthritis. Initially, the physical therapist--who turned out to be the clinic's owner--planned to treat one knee at a time on different days, and I continued with that routine. They scheduled me for two appointments on September 2nd and 4th. On September 2nd, I called to reschedule the September 4th appointment to the afternoon due to personal reasons, but they said there was no availability that week. So I canceled the September 4th appointment and went for my September 2nd appointment as planned. However, when I arrived, a staff member told me there was no appointment for that day. I showed the note I had for the appointment, but the staff continued to check the schedule on their computer. They spoke as if I were lying to receive treatment despite having a confirmed appointment. Eventually, the person who took my call told me to wait, and I had to point out to the staff member who claimed there was no appointment that it was their mistake. On that day, the massage performed by the owner was so rough that it felt like they were taking out their frustration on me. When I got home, I noticed bruising on the treated area. On September 9th, I went for my appointment as usual, but the owner said, contrary to what I had been told before, that they could only treat one side at a time instead of alternating knees. The owner tried to treat my bruised leg, and I reminded them that previously, each knee was supposed to be treated on different days. However, the therapist insisted that treating one side at a time was the clinic's rule. I stopped the treatment on my bruised leg, and the therapist exchanged looks with the staff member I had confronted before, as if they were saying they had succeeded in getting rid of the patient who pointed out their mistake. Most of the staff were also not very friendly, with only a few exceptions. The "treatment" consisted only of massage and exercises; there was no electrical therapy or ultrasound treatment. I have been to many physical therapy clinics, but I have never experienced anything like this. I will never go back and would never recommend this clinic to anyone.

A sign near the receptionist's desk reads, "I've learned that people will forget what you said,…read morepeople will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel. - Maya Angelou" Everyone at Genesis Rehab Therapy certainly lives up to that motto. In general, you get assigned to a different therapist after every other appointment or so. That way you get slightly different approaches and instructions, which might confuse you a bit initially but ultimately gives you a choice on how to do your exercises while at home or at the gym. The therapists I was assigned to most frequently were Danielle, Justin, and Jason. All of them are helpful and compassionate, with a good sense of humor. Jason is especially knowledgeable and attentive. After you put your keys, phone, etc. in a little basket, and after you wash your hands, you do your exercises while enjoying a view of the Hollywood sign, the Griffith Observatory, or a photo of Arnold Schwarzenegger, for extra motivation. During, and even after, your set of therapy sessions, the staff is happy to answer any questions you may have about how to continue exercising on your own. Everyone at Genesis Rehab Therapy is determined to make you feel better by addressing your therapy needs with great care. I highly recommend you put your trust in this team of skilled therapists.
