OM), who was informative, concise, and helpful throughout the entire visit. The treatment was very thorough: he started with a consultation where I truly felt heard, and then moved on to a brief massage with acupressure on my problem areas before performing heated cupping and acupuncture. The results have been highly effective. I was slightly sore afterward, but the immense discomfort I've been experiencing from lower back pain and a torn rotator cuff has subsided. I can actually feel the circulation in my shoulder again, and the stubborn knots in my shoulder blade have finally released...thank goodness! I am a real patient! Dr. Di is a miracle worker, and I'm not exaggerating. I first found him on yelp, when I was desperate for relief from SI pinched nerve feeling. It was so painful I was at urgent care the day before and got very little relief from the pain medication they gave me. I sprained my ankle badly while in the U.S., and I was told it could take a long time to get the CT scans back from the hospital. So I decided to visit this Chinese medicine clinic, and I'm so glad I did. David Di was incredibly hospitable and knowledgeable. He took the time to assess my condition carefully and explained that since the injury was still fresh, it would be better to begin Chinese medicine treatment in the second week for optimal results. He asked when I would return to my home country and thoughtfully suggested getting the scan and further treatment there for better timing. Even though the full treatment wasn't suitable yet, he still carefully helped me with some immediate care for my ankle and provided detailed instructions on how to manage it myself in the meantime. I figured I should establish care somewhere and I'm so glad I did. The office is conveniently located inside the Petroleum Building and it's such a historical vibe. My massage therapist is Richard Lee and he's just fabulous. He uses a mixture of tui na, acupressure, and deep tissue massage, and would adjust based on the different knots in my body. I literally went into the office with a sprained neck from sleeping in a weird position, and to my surprise, it was no longer there by the time I left the office. Richard is knowledgeable and would explain to me the different pressure points, so it's fun to learn too. I was recommended to David by a friend who has been seeing him for years for her chronic back pain. This was my first time experiencing acupuncture, and I knew I needed to try something new after experiencing deep muscular pains in my back, coupled with a recent scoliosis diagnosis. The communication prior to my appointment was amazing! I booked online via his website, and in the days leading up to my visit, I received a couple reminder texts, as well as very thorough information on where to park (bring $5 in CASH). Upon coming into his office, I was greeted by Brittney, who was super friendly and explained all the necessary documents I needed to complete. I arrived really early to my appointment time because I was already in the area, and to my surprise, David was willing to fit me in earlier! He did not have to (nor did I ask to) given that he is client-to-client, but that goes to show his above and beyond service. I explained my pain points and challenges, and David listened attentively during my consultation and was ready to address the issues with ease. I was genuinely surprised by the level of service and comfort--he did some sort of massage down my spinal area and noted the areas that were more painful for me. I typically grin and bear the pain, but he made sure we were communicating with each other so that he wasn't stressing on the areas that were painful. He then did chiropractic-level movements with my neck and back, which ended with a cupping session and then the acupuncture. Throughout the entire service, David was professional, thorough, and light-hearted. I used to see Dr Cathy Ming in N Hollywood from 1989-2002. Her and her husband Harry had a great little shop on Riverside at Lauren Canyon. SHE COULD CURE ANYTHING! She retired at 70 and everyone I knew that went to her panicked. She was generational as Her father was also an acupuncturist his entire career. That is like 130 years of experience and it showed in results. Didn't matter what your ailment was, Cathy fixed it. She was a genius. Since then, between living in Palm Springs, LA, NYC, Boston, and Chicago (and now back to LA,) in 20+ years I have not found an acupuncturist where when you leave the office you feel IMMEDIATE results, lighter, happier, more energy, with tremendously reduced symptoms, and faith that the money was well spent. I found Dr. Di after I broke my elbow last year. I had surgery and had to wear a cast and sling for weeks which created a lot of stress on my opposite shoulder. I have been experiencing pain on my shoulder and neck for 3 days. And I feel numb down my arm from the tension on my neck. My friend recommended Dr. Di in North Hollywood. He examined me and told me how he is going to treat the pain and how that works in my body system. He was very thorough with his examination and treatment; he really took his time to give me the best care. If you go to a western clinic with this kind of pain, they just give you a muscle relax pill or pain killer which doesn't really fix the problem. First, he relaxed the muscle and did hot stone treatment, then he gave me acupuncture. I was a little afraid to get acupuncture because I don't like needles. But it didn't hurt at all. I didn't even feel the needles going in. He also rang some chimes while I was getting acupuncture for 15 mins for an extra relax. His studio very clean, like its brand new, and also nicely decorated. He incorporated features into his space that helped me relax. It was very organized. You can tell he put a lot of thought into his space. First of all, David had a very clean work space. He took extra care in making sure the room was comfortable and relaxing for his patients. Everything from smells to sounds were considered, which I really thought was helpful since I was a bit anxious about needles.
