I just want to say that I would have no idea where I would be right now or what I would have done if I did not find this place going through TSW/ severe eczema. I always had eczema growing up but very small patches that would come and go. But not until I got sick I went to Kaiser and they gave me some antibiotics and I was taking them almost every month for 3 months and then I started to get eczema all over my upper body. I have been doing treatment with Dr. Choi and Dr. Park for about 4 months now and I can't recommend this place enough. I had never done acupuncture or herbal treatment before, but this style of treatment was recommended by my girlfriend. I'm writing this review so that I can talk about my experience with Dr. Park and Dr. Choi. My eczema started in March 2024 when I went to a dental visit to get a crown and the teeth filling and I went back consecutively six times and I didn't know what was happening, but my eczema was flaring all over my skin I went to many dermatologist and I went to the emergency room several times and got prednisone, biologics and topical steroid prescribed to me over the span of eight months. However, my condition got worse. When I got off the biologics (I.e. Adbry) after two months I developed topical steroid withdrawal and bad panic attacks and that's what I had to search for another solution because the prednisone that was being prescribed to me and the topical steroids and the Biologics were not working anymore so I googled some withdrawal symptoms from topical steroids and found out that I had topical steroid withdrawal thankfully I live in LA and I was able to find Dr. Park and Dr. Choi when I was at the worst of my topical steroid withdrawal and they were able to prescribe me herbal medicine with a combination of acupuncture. Hi you guys, I hope this review helps other souls to get better. Everything started in by the end of January 2016 when I decided to visit TY wellness I was feel so insecure about my face. Come to these doctors when you are ready to heal your skin. Dr. Choi, Dr. Hong and Dr. Park are a team of caring doctors who immediately made me feel cared for more than any other doctor I've ever visited. Dr. Choi mostly speaks Korean so Dr. Hong (Alex) translates what is being said, as the three of them discuss the patient's condition. They asked me questions about what I'd eaten, what had been going on in my life, how things made me feel. I was in a pretty depressed state when I found them. The skin condition on my face looked like a red, dry, bumpy mustache and goatee, which I thought was Perioral Dermatitis. I have suffered from allergies and eczema for as long as I can remember. My day to day consisted of taking antihistamines and applying topical creams to manage my symptoms. As I got older I noticed my allergies and eczema getting worse, and every time, my doctors would only prescribe more antihistamines and stronger topical creams (stronger steroids, immunosuppressants). My breaking point occurred in 2022 when my eczema got so bad that it resulted in multiple visits to urgent care where I was prescribed strong oral steroids. My main issue was my scalp. I believe I had some sort of scalp psoriasis. For the last 3-4 years I have always had these red, irritated bumps all over my scalp. They would flare up and get really itchy some days, to the point where it would bleed because I would scratch it. I would sometimes get dandruff too (I had a lot when I first came into the clinic - gross, I know). I noticed that because I was scratching so hard and so much, that I was losing noticeably more hair as well. I was scared I was going to cause permanent hair loss, so I decided enough was enough and I needed to get this treated. They would never really go away, even with zinc shampoo, T-sal, over the counter stuff. I didn't want to go to a western doctor because I knew they would simply ask me to use the OTC stuff or steroid cream, which never really solves the issue but just masks the symptoms. I came into TY Wellness Center with an open mind, open to the idea of using Eastern medicine to help my condition. Everyone working there was super friendly and helpful. When I first met Dr. Choi, we had a consultation and he said I had a lot of heat in my body. He also asked if I was gassy, bloated or had digestion issues. I did. I had all of the above. A few days prior to seeing him, I was VERY bloated and it was so uncomfortable. The first session with him, I had acupuncture done and he gave me some herbal medicine packets which lasted a little over two weeks. I had to take 3 packets a day. After completing two acupuncture sessions and finishing a whole box, I am onto my new box of herbal medicine. I still have a little bit of dandruff, but I have seen probably a 70-80% reduction in dandruff fallout when I scratch my head. My scalp has improved probably the same amount. I find that I am scratching so much less, which in turn has made the wounds and bumps less irritated, red and inflamed. My overall skin condition seems to have improved as well, which is likely due to the combination of my change in diet, herbal medicine and acupuncture. I do want to note that eastern medicine is not a quick fix. It will take time and you have to be patient. I expect that in 2-3 more weeks, my scalp dandruff should be almost completely gone. I'm very glad that I found TY Wellness. I was dealing with a rash that affected my eyes and the area around my eyes and the back of my neck. This rash came on after a very stressful period of time in my life and got inflamed very quickly. My eyes were so swollen in the mornings I could barely see out of them. I went to several different doctors, allergists, etc and no one was able to really help me other than prescribing steroids which I really didn't want to be on long term. After about 7 months with the rash I found TY Wellness on yelp and came to them for help. Both Dr Choi and Dr Park were understanding and very positive that they could help me. They showed me a book that explained my condition (neurodermatitis eczema) and outlined a treatment plan for me. I did 6 weeks of acupuncture and herbal medicine as well as a strict diet (which I was already on prior to seeing them) but I also added in their recommendation to eliminate things that cause heat in the body like hot spice, turmeric, pepper etc. During my treatment I wasn't totally sure if the herbal medicine was working and I did have one flare up because of the heat but I kept with the treatment and am really happy to say that my symptoms are in remission and that the swelling i had in my eyes has been completely eliminated.
