Dr. Tran has been absolutely wonderful! I first came to her with lower back pain that affected my ability to sit comfortably and walk for extended periods of time. She took the time to do an X-ray and designed chiropractic sessions that were very different from the adjustments I had in the past. She focuses on electrostimulation therapy and ultrasound treatment, and she is incredibly thorough in explaining every step of the process. Even when my back was aching badly, she always managed to fit me in for emergency sessions on very short notice, which I truly appreciated. On top of her expertise, she is so easy to talk to. She is always bubbly, kind, and genuinely attentive. She remembers details, treats you like a friend, and still maintains the highest level of professionalism. I have recommended Dr. Tran to four of my colleagues, and we have all had nothing but positive experiences. I've been to various chiropractors over the years due to suffering from back issues as of a very young age. Getting older and suffering from other injuries I've sustained I've learned a lot about what I I want in a chiropractor. Someone who is thorough, listens, does xrays and isn't focused on just doing an adjustment and getting you in and out of the office. I originally found this office for my husband who was having back issues because I had a chiropractor that I had been visiting. I needed to find someone who accepted our insurance so we could both go and wasn't too far away. I came to the visit with my husband and after watching him receive his treatments and adjustments I scheduled my own appointment. Today we are on our 5th visit or so and we are very happy with our visits and treatment. We both signed up with a 16 visit plan for each. Dr. Teri is very down to earth as his her staff. I was very comfortable with her, talking and laughing about everything. She was very thorough in our assessments and every time we come in for an ultrasound treatment and adjustment we leave feeling much better. The office is small but nice and clean and they do their best to keep customers separated due to Covid. I have never been to a chiropractor office where the office hours are 9am-6pm Monday through Friday where the door isn't open or have a real person answer the phone. You can't make an appointment with anyone and you have to wait for computer to email or text you back for appointment. This is very inconvenient for someone who needs to talk to someone. This office seems like the convenience is for the doctor and staff rather than for patients. Maybe if you actually get started at this office, then you understand but for someone new, terrible way of communication. Definitely not recommend regardless how good they are or could be. read more

I had less than a stellar experience here. I came here during COVID-19, just yesterday, June 30th. The office was definitely older - there aren't any Yelp photos that really portray how it looks in person. Yes, there is clear windows up. Yes, the intern had her mask on. Yes, I had my mask on. No, Dr. Tran did not have hers on. I felt uncomfortable but didn't make a big deal of it because maybe if we had ours on, it would be ok. I did not see any signs that said masks were required in her office, but I may have missed that. She ran out of ink printer so she wrote on a piece of paper a place for me to write my name, birthday and to sign that would authorize an x-ray. Ok, not a big issue but definitely the first thing I noticed. I was then asked to do a full range of motions while her intern, Eden, assisted. I'm not against teaching on the job, but would've liked to be informed if that was the case. Just a simple, "this is my intern Erin, I'll be teaching her in our session today". Eden then assisted me in the next room asked that I take off my top and lay face down for my treatment. She gave me an ultrasound on my back and then Dr. Tran came in to finish off the treatment. The door was closed when Eden gave me my treatment, however Dr. Tran left the door opened the whole time she treated me, which was incredibly shocking. If another patient were to walk straight down the hallway, they would 1) be able to see that I'm getting treatment 2) regardless of whether or not they can see anything, I'm half naked on a table. The office is fairly small and the chance of this would be highly probable. There were only 3 of us in the office and I'm sure I was the last client before lunch, but that does not excuse it. Her intern called for her at one point and I remember she just screamed out "what?" which was incredibly rude. (In the middle of my treatment) Dr. Tran never once told me what she was doing to my back as she pressed these little tools into it. Then proceeds to tell me that I'm in a lot of pain/have severe back issues. When she realized I didn't respond, she goes "patient" to address that she was talking to me. During my whole treatment with the Dr, we left the door open. My upper body was completely bare as I laid face down on the table for the treatment. There's tissues that covered me however if you were to walk down that hallway (in this small office space) you would see me. I've never had a conversation with a doctor with the door open, ever. Let alone get TREATMENT with the door open. It felt very uncomfortable and unprofessional. At the end of treatment, she left me there with tissues on my back and left the room. I asked for a doctor's note as I told her I could get proper table/chair - she was like yes! Then stopped, mentioned that I had Kaiser and said "that would be $69". If that is truly the case, that is fine but the way it was said seemed as if she made a number up. If you're going to write a review back to explain yourself, just remember that I know she's an established doctor, that's why I came to her. However, I felt that it lacked professionalism. Her husband writes back to all of the negative reviews and states her credentials. They even date back to how their clients purchased through Groupon and how many times they've came and the specific dates. Seems confidential and not needed in a negative review. I've been experiencing really bad neck and back pain. I called my insurance company for chiropractors in my area, and this is one of the places that I was referred to. I'm so glad that I ended up here. It's right next to the old San Jose Medical Hospital on Santa Clara St. near Downtown SJ. It's not in the best area of town, but it didn't matter to me since it was only a couple of blocks from my place. Dr. Teri Tran did an amazing job with my problem areas. She's very nice and explains what is really going on with your body. I had problems that I didn't even know I had, yet Dr. Tran explained it to me in a way that I could understand. After the examination, I got a back massage to help with the pain. Man does she have magic hands! She worked out the knots and kinks in my back that no other masseuse could ever do. She talked me through the massage and explained where each knot was and how or why it was there. VERY relaxing. I'm so glad that my insurance covers chiropractic services. It's like getting an examination and a great massage for a co-pay of only $15. If I ever need another spinal adjustment, or a massage, I'll definitely be coming back to this place. read more

Dr. Tran is the best chiropractor I have been to. I didn't even know about the therapies that she uses before I went to see her and I already feel better after two visits. She uses adjustment, plus massage plus muscle stimulation to find all the places you didn't even know you were hurting. For example, she helped loosen my jaw that I didn't realize was tight from clenching my teeth. I feel sore in a good way after my adjustments and I can tell my back is healing. Not only is Dr Tran very good at her job, she is nice, funny, and a real person. She makes you feel like you matter to her as a patient, which I think is really great. Got the groupon. Been to several chiropractors before and this is the first time I haven't gotten my back or neck cracked.... I had lower back pain and after 2 sessions of electric therapy and massages, I still had my pain. I've had lower back pain before and having it realigned by cracking it always did the trick. What really got me was her asking for a tip at the end of the session... so awkward and distasteful. I didn't notice her asking a tip from the patient before me for both times. So I wonder if she's just targeting Groupon customers? Either way, I won't be coming back. read more

Dr Tran is simply the best in the area for Chiropractic care, Physio Therapy and Therapeutic Exercises. I have been part of a treatment plan with her for about 3 months now. So this review is after several appointments with Dr Tran, and after small treatment plans and consultations with other practitioners in the area. Dr Tran is extremely dedicated, knowledgeable and most importantly genuine in her work. Her work ethic is unparalleled. She has one objective, to get you feeling better holistically. I came in for a neck strain, while helping me with the neck strain she noticed other areas that need work and did not hesitate to work those to get me feeling closer to a 100% holistically. I have as part of the get to a 100% plan been treated with combo, electric stimulation, laser therapy, chiropractic adjustment, muscle work and therapeutic exercises. Dr Tran works to address the issue from all angles and hence the exposure to many treatment techniques. She makes sure you have the education you need before each type of treatment and how it heals. She also recommends exercises and provides basic equipment for at home after care to accelerate healing. This review has been way long over due. Let me tell you if you're looking for a chiropractor that's literally got your back- then Dr. Tran is the one. I first went to see Dr. Tran in April of 2019 with a kink on my neck. I always knew I had bad posture, but when I started doing more therapy I found out i had a bulging disc. What a pain- literally. I was always in consistent pain (prior to chiro). My goal was to have a healthy back so I could weight train comfortable and push myself to higher PR's. I am 8 months into therapy and today it hit me- I am in 0 pain. I went from a high 10 to 0. I can't even believe that I for once feel "normal". I swear if you want someone who loves what they do, and really cares for their patients; YOU GOT TO GO SEE Dr. Tran. Another plus- physically my posture has drastically changed. I no longer look hunch and have gain so much Strength. I am sure she accepts a lot of insurances but even then her prices are super affordable. Do not use this business, I just got a bill today after more then one year , I call them ,they told me is for my deductable ,I first purchase groupon ,it is a bait to get you in ,then they said say more treatment is needed ,I given my insurance ,the doctor told me it is fully cover then I start more treatment ,I never know that there is a $60 dollars deductable ,which is cheaper and better to go to any professional place. When I call today after more than a year ,doctor told me " it is my responsibility to take care of the deductable " ,I would have bought one more groupon if I was told on the deductable ahead of the treatment . This business is clearly a ripe off ,want you to get more treatments then send you a bill more than a year later . Make sure you have them write down no balance or deductable . It's been 3 years since my last review, time for an update! I've continued to see Dr. Tran at APIC therapy center due to her excellent treatment of my ongoing ailments from neck pain to foot adjustment. Dr. Tran is very knowledgeable and goes into great detail to explain what is causing my ailments and how to avoid reoccurring injuries. I continue to get amazing results and usually one or two sessions gets me back up and running. I highly recommend Dr. Tran for any of your chiropractic needs! This is my 100th Yelp review! Yayyy! My back was in pain and I needed to find a chiropractor to get relief. I have a chiro that I go to that I love but I wanted to find another one that's closer to me. Luckily for me, there was a Groupon for A.P.I.C. Therapy Center for consultation, exam and three adjustments with sports massage for only $60.50. Here's the Groupon: https://www.groupon.com/deals/apic-therapy-center. I called for an appointment and was able to get one for the next day. A.P.I.C. is located in downtown San Jose off of East Santa Clara Street. Fortunately, it's in a building that has free parking (bonus points). I arrived at my appointment early to fill out paperwork. The first thing that happened during my visit was to lay on the mechanical traction machine for about 8 minutes. It was amazing. It's like a chair massager (that you sit in for a pedicure) but you lay flat on a bed. The rollers go up and down your spine to loosen you up. After the traction table, I moved to another room to get an ultrasound and electrical stimulation for 5-10 minutes. It was interesting...this is where your muscles get zapped with electrical pulses. The next part was my favorite: getting the sports massage/myofascial release. Dr. Tran really got in there. Her hands are magic. She kept checking to make sure the pressure wasn't too much. It was perfect. I could feel my muscles loosening up. Right after that I got my adjustment. She uses a tapping instrument to do the adjustment. I wasn't used to the technique since my other chiropractors use their hands to apply a controlled, sudden force to a spinal joint. After my adjustment, she put Biofreeze all over my back. I was soooooo relaxed and my back felt great. Yesterday was my 2nd visit. My back feels so much better. The tightness on my right side is going away. The pain has definitely subsided. My lower back pain has diminished. I can lay off of the ibuprofen that I was constantly popping. Many thanks to Dr. Tran for her expertise and awesome personality. It has been a long time since I have had an adjustment and a great massage. After a great weekend of camping (and sleeping on a rock) my back was pretty tore up. I used Yelp to find a massage place close to work and found A.P.I.C. and Dr. Terri Tran DC. I made an appointment and was able to be seen in less than 2 hours. When I got there, I had to fill out all the obligatory forms, however wasn't bad. Dr. Tran then took me into an exam room and did a complete history very quickly..then some x-rays and checks...then to the massage table... I don't know how long I was in there...or how long the massage was, but right now I'm the most relaxed that I've been in years. Dr.Tran knows all the pressure points and which muscles are buggin and takes care of it...definitely she was a true "gem" to find...do yourself a favor...go see her. I was able to get a next-day appointment at APIC Therapy, which was good, and bad. Good because I was in pain. Bad because my experience was less than stellar. Being a stay-at-home-mom, I needed to bring my toddler (contained in their stroller) for the appointment. Having never been their before, I was surprised when the doctor who treated me (I don't remember her name) started asking me medical information from her desk while I was seated in the waiting room. There was no one in the waiting room, but the receptionist was there, and I wasn't sure who else was in the back of the office. The doc did ask if we could start the appointment in the waiting room, because I had the stroller. I appreciated her asking, and agreed. For the adjustment, we made our way to the back room. I saw that there was no one else in the office or other 2 rooms, but was still taken-back by the first encounter. The rest of the appointment was short - ultrasound therapy (which did crap in my opinion) and a small adjustment. There was no real discussion of what was happening in my body, how to prevent it, follow up appointments, etc. I was less than impressed with this appointment - it wasn't my first time at a chiropractor's appointment. I felt like I needed to give them the benefit of the doubt, because I had brought my kid - because I didn't have a babysitter for a 15 minute appointment, but having now found a different chiropractor in Campbell who works around my needs (bringing the kiddo along) and really investigates the problem, I know it was just this doc & this facility. I personally won't be recommending APIC to anyone. read more

Refer to previous one star reviews regarding insurance double billing. Do not use this insurance fraud practice. They have some arrangement with insurance that seems to waive the deductible according to my insurance provider and I do not owe them any co pay or deductible. Yet they constantly send bills over a year after treatment. Despite my sending documents and proof that I owe them no money, they keep sending the same generic response. I would keep away from this unethical practice and will be reporting them to California medical board if they don't stop harassing me. read more

I am extremely grateful to Dr. Tran for all her help. I had severe lower back pain and could not sit for more than 10-15 mins. I even couldn't sleep on my back. I visited Dr. Tran for her help and she was so nice and professional in dealing with my situation. She gave me therapies, massages and exercises which immediately started to relieve my pain. In a couple.of weeks I was able to sit for longer and felt better. After 3 months I was able to sit for longer and was able to work effectively at my office. Now, I am able to run at a medium pace and sit for 2 - 3 hours continuously. Dr. Tran not only a great Doctor, but also an excellent professional and person. She completely understood the situation of the patient and keeps them motivated to do exercises and maintain proper posture and sitting habits. I would highly recommend Dr. Tran. read more

I've been going to Dr. Tran since March having severe back and neck pain. I was in so much pain I could not sit up or take deep breaths. I was holding in the tears when I finally got to her office and she managed to subdue the pain drastically. I was finally able to breath properly and sit up straight. At the time I was working at a company where it required heavy lifting as a result my lower back was compressed. My neck lost its arch but that's from how I constantly look down. I've improved drastically since then even childhood issues have been improving and will continue to come back. Honestly, I was skeptical about chiropractors but just after my first visit I knew I was in good hands. I don't like her adjustment technique. By that I mean that she doesn't do the adjustments by hand she uses the impulse adjustment instrument. I went there and got x-rays and the whole deal. And I felt like she really exaggerated my condition.She told me she would need to see me for 3 years starting at 3 times a week. She also said I had moderate to severe scoliosis. Aside from that she told me that I was between Phase 1 and 2 of Subluxation degeneration (Spinal Decay). My boyfriend suggested I seek a second opinion and I am glad that I did. I found a chiropractor who really educated me on my condition. And it ended up being not really as severe as she led me to believe. read more

I have been under Dr. Tran care for about a month, and I have improved so much my condition. Since I was teenagers I suffer eventual discomfort in my back. As I was aging, the disconfort was increasing until I finaly could not lay down anymore. When a friend refered me Dr. Tran I was not sleping right for 3 weeks. I had this pain in my low back that traveled through my gluteus and the right leg. I went to her office, we did x-rays and she explained to me what was going on. Imediatly we start the treatment and after 6 sessions I felt 70% normal again. Her humanized care and ability to treat me as a whole body, where every thing is connected (as it should be) impressed me. I had some episodes of pain in the past, which made me look for help, but I did not feel that I was receiving much atttention. I just had some palliative medicine, relieving symptoms, but never fixing the problem. With Dr. Tran, based on what she said and what I have been experiencing, we are treating the problem in its origin. I'm glad that I found her before this had gotten worse. I know if I had not tried something else, I could end up in surgery. Even though I can't ensure this won't happen, I at least feel that I'm doing the right thing right now. I have been very religious with my visits and doing as much as I can in home care, which is important to get a deep change. Thus, I confidently recommend this service. read more

Decent adjustment... insurance fraud, gross over charge and lack of ability to run operations successfully. I went to Teri for recovery from a car accident where the other party was at fault. She took the information down for the car insurance and for some reason also billed my medical insurance. During service, there were many issues with reaching someone and I often left a message with the answering service. Rarely did I get a call back. After receiving payment from the insurance company, I called APIC to verify the bill. No answer. I took the insurance company's payment for their word. I recently received a collection notice on my credit for a $2475 bill however, the insurance company forwarded me the bill APIC sent totaling $1,632. After several calls, Teri has been unwilling to accept payment for $1,632, sent me to an intern who has been there for 2 weeks and says she can't help me. I now have the only negative report on my credit and a gross overcharge bill. Luckily, I'll be able to get this off my score since I have evidence this charge is incorrect but this is a hassle. I booked an appointment with Dr. Tran after a receiving a recommendation to see a Chiropractor from one of my yoga teachers. I've been dealing with a intense IT band and knee pain from over training and no amount of rest and ice was helping. Dr. Tran has been treating me for a few weeks now with therapy and adjustments and i'm already seeing improvements. She and her staff are incredibly personable and polite, they create a fun and comfortable environment for patients. Dr. Tran is great with answering questions and explaining her process. I have a degenerative disc in my lower back and scoliosis. I had really bad back pain and ended up slouching while I walk from the pain. I've seen many chiropractors in the mid west and here in the bay area. I thank God I was introduced to Dr Tran from a friend. She started seeing me 3 times a week treating me with therapy & adjustments. She also got me a back pump to help my spine curve the way its supposed to. I can now walk straight up with no problems & I can wear heals if I wanted. I've been a patient of hers for over 10 years and now I only see her every fews months just to keep my peace of mind. All of these 5 star ratings have me so confused. I saw Dr. Tran and she didn't even introduce herself, and after I explained my pains/injuries and she acted like I was putting her out by going to see her (in fact as I went to undress I heard her say "that's it! I'm done! No difficult patients after 5:00...yeah that makes me feel REALLY welcome and is EXTREMELY professional...not. She also was sighing and asking why I chose to play the sport I did (which I was very successful at, playing through college). She scoffed while I explained it. When she put the first tool on my shoulder/neck/back, she didn't even explain what it was. Luckily, being an athlete I knew that it was a stim machine and I knew that my muscles spazzing and tensing up was normal... she explained nothing and just did her thing... making stupid, conversation about nothing relevant. She then pulled my pants down, without warning, exposing my crack... again EXTREMELY unprofessional.. and without any warning or asking if I was comfortable or okay with that. The ONLY TIME she explained what she was doing and the tools she was using was when she used the device to adjust me. She also got ultrasound gel all in my hair, left paper towel on me and left a whole mess in the room/on the table. The whole visit took about 35 minutes... which I paid for a full consult, 3 adjustments and a sports massage. Yeah right. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL.
