We purchased tickets for A Petrified Forest as last minute plans on Halloween night not sure what to expect and we were really blown away. Parking is free and and so is the short tram or bus ride to the event. The experience begins on the ride as you're greeted by the bus driver; (Ours was named Splatter and his energy set the mood for the night) and his assistants who may give you a fright as they give you the lore/theme of the houses and their names. The premise of this event changes every year, and after our experience we are excited to see what they cook up next year. In the front yard of the event there are many food trucks to choose from, some with themed menu options, a few shops with an array of goods, and a DJ playing some Halloween classics. This area is a relatively small but we never felt crowded, and we're able to find seats at tables to eat, despite it being Halloween Night where we expected a peak number of visitors. The smaller area also guarantees that you'll have many encounters throughout the night with the scare actors who roam this open space. Screams from guests filled the air sporadically all throughout the night. The houses were extremely impressive. There were 3 free houses included in your ticket and 2 experiences where you pay for an extra ticket. These tickets also work as fast passes to the houses. We found that the lines went by quickly. The houses are not so much houses as they are trails through the wooded area in the event lot which added a lot more to the fear factor than your typical indoor haunted houses. Every scene was filled with props and scares. It was obvious how much effort was put into the designs of the sets. This year's premise to put it simply was an abandoned mall and the houses reflected that. What really made this night for us were the employees. This experience was very interactive and the scare actors all had great attitudes. They were in character but when we had questions about the event they answered us seriously and it showed. The treats I tried this time was the Puffy vampire brownie and the mini donuts with strawberry and blueberry drizzle. The donuts were a bit dry but the glaze was delicious. A local haunted house trail offering 3 haunted trails and some other options available as well. Their system works well for managing the large amount of people who attend and it's always a fun time. This year, they did a haunted day ride that was a bit lackluster. The theme was a bit confusing and the interactive portions didn't go over quite well with us. We felt that the price of $15 additional was a bit much for what we got. However, we were very pleased with the three trails. The prop design is always wonderful and the scare actors do well. Our favorite were the toy store and the video game rental. The bayou one was just alright for us. A great value and the staggered entrances are always nice for a personalized experience. read more

Since the email posted on website doesn't work. To whom it may concern, After purchasing tickets for my family of four on Saturday evening, we were extremely disappointed with the venue. It was extremely crowded and almost claustrophobic. There were lines everywhere. We waited in line for over an hour and were unable to even do one walk. Lines for food trucks to even get a beverage were 10 people deep. I understand this was probably one of the busier holiday evenings, but with that being said there should've been a limit on capacity. We spend almost 3 hours parking and waiting in line without one petrifying moment. Left with $183 hole in my pocket. I have no plans to return next year. OK now where do I begin...this is located a bit outside of Orlando in Altamonte Springs therefore you might think of skipping it since it's bit out of the way from the main theme parks with their own Halloween events. Well I urge you to make the effort. This is hands down my favorite haunted house venue thus far in Florida. No one haunted house was better than the other. It had everything that any scary and spooky jump scaring, monster having haunted house can have. I was pleasantly surprised since we were told it was a bit childish...I think mainly because it does not serve alcohol so be prepared for that but when I went through all houses, I understood why. Wasent scary at all, went cause my coworker made it sound like it was better then HHN. I should have known better but I still went. It wasent what I was expecting at all. It's dirty as hell ( my feet were disgusting when I got home). They had a few vendors. Too pricey for the experience I thought. I got charged $43 to see three trails. My friend got charged over $50 for the same thing ( so she got over charged).They had a DJ which was nice. The bathrooms were potty which of course gross even though there was a person there at all times to not cause any disorder but still gross. NEVER AGAIN! I am bit late in writing this review, but I better get it out, so you folks know what to expect in October 2022. If you plan to come here, do not procrastinate; free parking is scarce; the alternate option is paying $10 to park in the Mexican Restaurant lot next door. Doors open at 7:30 pm, the ticket booth closes at 10 pm Wednesdays and Thursdays, and 10:30 pm Fridays and Saturdays. Long lines WILL form 30-minutes to an hour before staff opens the doors. You can order tickets ahead, which speeds up getting inside; however, the haunted trails do not open until dark. There is some excitement while waiting in line; Zombie-like characters run around with chain saws scaring the hell out of everyone; it definitely gets you in the mood for Halloween. There is a "fast pass" built into the ticketing system to minimize overcrowding the trails. Upon entry, the staff marks your card with a color (red, yellow, or green) and you are allowed to enter the haunted trail if your color is displayed on its indicator. Again, there is another line to wait in before entering and if you are in a large group like 10, I recommend dividing the group up to enhance the scare factor. I also recommend getting in the front of the group if you want to get the best experience possible. The Petrified Pass ($29.95) gets you access to all three trails one time each, so wait until it's dark before you go, but not too long because lines fill up fast. The park offers several other ticket options with perks like the Petrified Pass + Backstage Tour $42.50, and Full Wrath Pass + All Access $48.50, but no option where you can access trails more than once, and this is where the experience is lacking. While on the Haunted trails the staff does a great job scaring customers but they are limited to their little area. I wish there were more characters on the trails, at times your just walking expecting someone to pop up but nothing happens. A HUGE FYI - do not wear your best clothes, heals, or anything fancy for that matter. There is soft dirt everywhere you walk; if it has been raining, it will be mucky out here too. In addition, there is Cypress moss hanging low enough to leave you covered in chiggers, so be careful. If you are planning dinner, do that first then come here, then go home to clean up. You will not realize how dirty you are until you get back into the light. The main yard has several vendors selling local art, t-shirts, and food. The Zombie-like characters are also running around with chain saws and doing photo ops. We have been lucky enough to see bands in the main yard during our previous visits, but this year (2021) they hired a DJ instead. All-in-all, A Petrified Forest is a good value for the money. We were looking for a different options other then HHN's this year and some friends suggested Petrified. For $25 (plus $2.25 processing fee if you buy online) you can do all three trails. They have designated parking areas. None were more then a few minute walk, but they do offer a "terror trolley". We saw people outside Ruben's Tires selling parking spots, even though there were plenty free spaces still available. The free lots can be confusing, especially at night, so these guys were taking advantage. We arrived 15mins before opening and there was already a pretty long line. There are two separate lines. One for prepay and one for those needing to buy tickets. Although ours was longer as soon as it was opening time we walked right in, while they stood in place, so buy your tickets online. You DON'T need to download an app or print your tickets. You have the option to screenshot the QR code and save to your Apple wallet. Before opening scare actors come out to get you hyped up. Also, someone came by to check our tickets and hand us our pass for the three trails. This made the process a lot smoother. There were cops at the entrance controlling traffic, but I still didn't like the way they handled the "security check point". Before opening someone walked down the line with a wand metal detector. This should be done as we're walking in. They have a color wheel to decide who can go in the houses when. Our color was red and it was already on red when we walked in so we went directly to the first trail. We were told after our first trail, we could fast pass to the other two. They actually try and time out each group so you're not all going in at once. With all three trails we were alone for a bit, but eventually hit the group in front of us, no matter how slow we walked. This is the same with HHN, so no fault on them. Huge props for the production of the trails. I would've never guessed it would've looked this realistic. To enter one of the trains we had to sit on a bench and get swung around. Another we had to sit in boat. There were actors swinging over our heads, tons of real looking props, lots of scare actors. They really did a good job. They had a live DJ, food trucks and merchandise stands outside the trails. It took us an hour to do three trails. We had a good time and definitely got our money's worth, but it still doesn't compare to HHN. read more

If you want a good Halloween scare without scaring your wallet, then this is the place for you. They offer three trails for only $25 per person or you can do two trail for $20. (You're going to want to do ALL three trails!!!) Parking there is an additional $10 and they also offer free parking down the road. It's within walking distance (a few blocks), however, they have a cute Spooky Trolley that will take you to and from your vehicle which is awesome. You can purchase tickets in advance or right there the night you go. I recommend getting there a little before they open because the line does get pretty long. Now don't worry, you'll have plenty of scares while waiting. They had actors coming out in scary masks and using chainsaws while you waited in line, to get you ready for what was to come. All three houses were great. They are creatively done, actors are impressive and if you startle easily (like myself) you'll scream a lot and have fun. As an alternative to Halloween Horror Nights, we went last night (the Thursday before Halloween). We didn't buy our tickets in advance because we did not know what time slot we would be arriving in. It was about $27, plus tax and a $2 credit card fee, so this ends up being just a couple dollars cheaper than buying online with the processing fees. This was a great experience. Since it was a bit away from Orlando it was busy, but not as busy or touristy as Halloween Horror Nights. Halloween Horror Nights is HUGE with lots of space, scare zones, gift shops, food and such. This is a bit different. A Petrified Forest comprises of three scare trails. The experience you get is a mix of a trail and a haunted house. There are plenty of props and themes inside each trail. The props and setting was REALLY cool. At some parts it was like you were walking on a real Florida trail following a path (with tall treets switchbacks, Florida sand, twigs, dirts, etc.), sometimes crossing a bridge. And, at other times it was like you are going through a haunted house. The first trail/house was my favorite. They let each group go separately so you get a bit more of a unique experience than you would at Halloween Horror Nights. The lines are also significantly shorter than Halloween Horror Nights, so you will be in/out in about an hour. The props were amazing, the characters were real. Come here every year and the haunted houses are just so amazing. I've been to Halloween horror nights so many times, and A Petrified Forest totally beats all of those attractions (in my opinion). The haunted houses are long (5-7 mins inside), the actors are REALLY good, the special effects are top notch, and the layout of the houses is just unbeatable. I always end up losing my voice from the amount of screaming I do! This year - Here's House I would rate the houses based on scare-level: 1. The Human Experiment 2. The slaughter house 3. Island of Dolls The first 2 were so so good and lots of "scary" moments. The island of Dolls was just ok. It has the coolest layout with bridges and water, but not as many "jump out and scare you" moments. Okay ... so I had fun at the Petrified Forest. Being my first visit, I read through the Yelp reviews prior to going and I honestly didn't know what to expect. Some people loved it, others ... not so much. Me? I liked it. My friends had a good time too. Parking was easy but confusing if you don't know where you are going. The website did tell us that we could park at Adjectives market and ride the trolley over. We ended up driving past it and turning around because there are tons of other folks making a buck in their parking lots. These folks have the signs and glow sticks waving you in ... so, I can see how some folks were confused. No biggie ... we just made a u-turn and parked at Adjectives for free. We also opted to walk there as its just a few blocks away. This is much faster than riding a trolley. We had also purchased our tickets online, for both trails, (there were two), before arriving. This saved a lot of time! There was a pretty long line to the side of us for people needed to purchase tickets. Once inside, we had out tickets stamped with a color. This color lets you know when its time to get in line for a trail. You know this because there are two color wheels that get turned to the color groups when its time ... and the DJ announces these changes as they happen. Oh yes, there is a DJ! The night we went, there were people dancing and having a good ol' time, which added to the fun. (With the two color wheels, each one is located at a specific trail entrance. So, know which trail you are lining up for when the time comes. We didn't realize this until later. Derp. It was fine though because we were doing both. Also if you are doing both trails, once you come out of one trail, you go directly into the next one without having to wait for a color group again.) There are a couple of food trucks with delicious junk food ready to fill you up. One of my friends got some french fries with meat and "cheese" on top ... none of us were sure what it was but he LOVED it. We had time to order as it took about 25 minutes for our color group to be called. With all the people there, this was actually pretty fast! We didn't mind waiting at all because there is so much going on before you go to the trails. In the big party area, there are also scare actors hanging around. So, there is a lot going on and you don't realize you are waiting. As for the trails, out of the two, one was definitely superior and we wish we would have done that one twice instead of the other. This trail was The Family's Swamp. It was great! It was dark, there were distractions and surprises, a cool special effect with lasers, lots of scares and it felt longer than the other one. We were really impressed. The other trail was called The Hunted. With this one, we didn't really understand the concept and there weren't as many scares ... which was weird because in this one they could touch you if you wore a "beacon" necklace. I don't know, maybe we hit it at a low action time? It also felt shorter than the other one. So, if people just did this one trail on their visit, I can understand if they didn't enjoy themselves as much. The Family's Swamp was definitely the one to choose if you could only do one. All in all, I had a really fun time. This type of event is "homegrown" and has more heart than the corporate Halloween events many of us in the area are used to. (Saying that, I do enjoy those as well.) Being "homegrown" is a big part of its charm and is a great compliment to all the other Halloween events going on around Central Florida. First time coming to this event and it was a decent experience. I arrived on a Saturday night around 830pm and the entry line was super long wrapped around to the Wawa gas station. It moved pretty quick and then you go through a 'security' check. We purchased our tickets online so we went straight in. There were three trails and each had a fast pass lane and a regular lane. The fast pass lane made no sense to me so I had to come read the reviews on here to understand them somewhat. Nonetheless, lines weren't horrible once you got the fast pass. The trails were very dark and it can be hard to see as it is in a 'Forest'. The scares were good as they only let small groups in at a time and not a giant Congo line. The props are not the best compared to theme park spooky events but it is definitely a worthwhile budget scare. Parking is free at Adjective and surrounding stores. Their color system limits the number of trails you can enter and it's a money-grab to buy the low quality food and drinks while you're forced to wait. Some of the scare actors get a little too close and even touch you on the nights when it says they aren't supposed to which probably would bother some people a lot. Wanted to give a higher review, but here is what transpired. Let's start with the positive: Able to get the tickets online - easy transaction although you have to download an app in order to show the electronic tickets at the entrance, otherwise, just print. Line at entrance moved pretty quickly for a Saturday evening - we went Sat, Oct 12; staff at entrance friendly and able to answer our group questions. Trails are fun, very creative, longer than expected, good props. Now for the not so positive - Parking is limited. People working the trails not respecting our personal space. I don't want anyone on my face - literally screaming about 1 inch from my face and was angry how they were behaving with my teenage daughter. The house of Dolls was fine, but not the other 2. Who you hired?? When I saw what they were doing, I Immediately covered my face and instructed my kid to do the same. When I asked to please not to yell or to get off my face - the people working on the trails were more aggressive. I really wanted to push one guy that was working on one of the trails with a school bus and another one with a pig face. They touch us and were not respectful. Make me angry just to think about it because I have a teenage daughter and she was not happy. It didn't matter if we said something on our way out, they didn't take action. Seems based on another review, it is a common behavior. The trails although well prepared, they are a bit dangerous - terrain not even and not enough guidance on where to move from one place to another. We got there early and 1.5 hrs later the crowd was out of control. Immediately after completing the backstage tour, we were out of there not without informing the lady leading the tour what had transpired. I am sure they do nothing. Advice to management - you need to protect not only your staff but also your patrons. Please train your workers just as well as you are good as given instructions to paying patrons on what or not to do. read more

I remembered because I got an e-mail from A Petrified Forest a couple days ago, and some friends and I have been talking about Haunted House experiences recently. I've never had issues with any sort of haunted house or trail until I went to A Petrified Forest. I went to A Petrified Forest last Halloween as I was living in the area for a short time, and my roommate and I heard about it. It was typical, two haunted trails and a waiting area with two people roaming around to scare you. On one of the trails, they were handing out special glowing necklaces to people who said they were okay with being touched. I *DID NOT* take one! But they touched me anyway, and when I tried to say something about it, they laughed, felt egged on, and decided to touch me some more because they got a kick out of me being upset! Then in the outside waiting area, the girl who was supposed to scare you came up behind me and tickled the back of my neck with her pigtail braid. I very calmly turned around and said "You're not supposed to touch me." She laughs at me and says "I didn't touch you, my hair did!" Like... what the actual hell?! So I told her and her coworker that they better not touch me again and the guy she was with PUSHED ME. So my roommate and I up and left. It was extremely disrespectful and unimaginable. How do you not properly train your workers, and how can you possibly think this behavior is okay??? read more

This was my first time visiting the Petrified Forest. I have wanted to visit for years and I'm glad I was finally able to make it this year. I think going early on in the event schedule is definitely the way to go as the line waits were virtually nonexistent. My friend and I were also able to walk thru 2 of the 3 haunted houses by ourselves and at our own pace. I loved that! I can't stand waiting hours in line at the theme parks only to be rushed thru in an unending conveyor line of people. The houses and the scarers are just as good, if not better than the parks. The actors actually interact and respond to what we're saying, which was awesome! It cost a lot less to get in too. The place is very family friendly and although there was only one food stand, it was affordable and it met our needs. I plan on coming back again next year. read more

I always look for great haunts in Florida and though A Petrified Forest is a bit out of the way, it was worth the trip! I met up with Orlando Elite, Cipriano and the two of us went together. There we bought a 2 house experience. We started with the 2nd house first. Sylvia, a friend saw us there, and pushed us through - she's one of the event organizers. We had a blast. She also threw us into a behind the scenes tour, which, given that Cip and I are haunters of the first order, we had SO MUCH FUN. This is an out door haunt, so Make sure you bring your bug spray if you're going early to mid season. If it's warm, the bugs will be biting. Make sure if you do the lights out experience - the eclipse night, that you hold onto your glow stick. It's so much fun that way. These folks have fun with their roles, the corn maze was a good spot of fun, and I know how hard they work. THe stilt walker and the clown out front are good friends. The snake is real! We heard about this from some friends at work and were expecting a Haunted House, after getting there we didn't know what we were getting into. Once you pass through the gates it is like a carnival/party atmosphere. There were food vendors, merchandise, and a DJ playing music keeping the crowd entertained while you waited to enter one of two trails. Then when your turn was called, the real treat began. The Haunted trail was partially in a structure and outdoors which made it very interesting. At one point I found myself in the forest seperated from the group staring at one of the zombies hiding behind a tree. This trail was truly fun. The trails both had alot of creepy areas lots of scare character. The skin room was creepy. The DJ was good they had food, dance floor. The wait was a little long but it was a saturday. Had a good time with my friends here, but it was almost more comical than scary. Trying not to compare this to one of the larger venues like Halloween horror nights and such, but it is almost worth the money to spend going to those type of places to get real scares and more bang for your buck. We chose to do the double trail which came out to $29 with online tickets. I must say the wait times in line were not long at all and it was pouring rain outside so we really appreciated not having to wait that long. But once we got inside, I didn't get scared once on either trail. I pretty much just laughed the whole way through. It is probably not something I would do again, but I'm glad I tried it out. read more

My absolute favorite haunted house so far that I am willing to drive 1hr 40 mins for. $27 for both trails, cash only. You get pushed into a trail in a closed coffin. Other trail you get pushed in riding a mine cart. Both take group photos in start of trails for $5 each. We walked thru a school bus, corn maze, swamp, etc. It's so good its like your walking thru a movie set. Theres a band & carnival food. Trailer bathrooms available. I love it so much it's become an annual traditional for me. read more

I heard about A Petrified Forest last year on 106.7 and wish I had went. This was my first year going and I thought it was amazing. Having been to HHN multiple times that was the standard I used and A Petrified Forest exceeded that and some. I loved all of the trails, having a live DJ in the waiting area made the wait enjoyable and the scare actors that roamed the lines were awesome as well. If you are looking for an event I'd say it is worth even an hour+ drive, you will not be disappointed. I am definitely a fan and will continue to come ever year! read more

Edited to add: I've left this review as a comment on their Instagram and a Facebook post and both were deleted ‍ Not a good look A Petrified Forest. This place is a disorganized covid nightmare. I went last night and they were WAY over capacity; there was hardly room to move, people were everywhere (like shoulder to shoulder, could barely turn around) and no one had any clue what was going on. There were no official lines, and no employees directing anyone. So it ended up just being massive groups of people smashing into each other for an hour only to find out everyone was in the wrong "line". When we finally found the right "line" (and I use that term very loosely), we didn't even move for almost an hour. We bought tickets for all three trails and laser tag, and ended up leaving after two hours without doing anything except waiting in lines to nowhere. In the end when we finally left they refused to refund tickets (and we were definitely not the only ones trying to get refunded). Do yourself a favor and go someplace else because this isn't it. read more

My fiancé and I live near Disney. Halloween is my favorite time of year and I moved here from Ohio. It felt like Ohio with the set up and weather. Wanting to experience fall haunts and fun, we decided to look for the next level scare. We researched some different things. We've already celebrated with Halloween Horror Nights so we wanted to find something that took our fears to the next level. We debated on Mortem Manor at Old Town because that was near us and someone from work mentioned Petrified Forest. After reviewing the two, it seemed like Petrified Forest had better reviews. It was ranked 31 in the US Top See Haunts and #5 in Florida Haunts. I am very ecstatic, I never get scared and I thought this would be the night! We drove an hour to get there. The parking was efficient and effective. The staff was helpful navigating! Tonight was special because it was a "Total Eclipse" night. They make you sign a waiver because it is less lighting than a normal night and the monsters CAN touch you! They give you a little glow stick to walk through with. Monsters try to steal it which makes it fun and a challenge. Reminds me of Legends of the Hidden Temple. The cost was $38 a person for 2 trails. But with the reviews they had I was ready to pay the price! They had a band, food trucks, bathrooms and merchandise! They give you a color and this tells you when to get in line when the color wheel says it's your turn! How you enter the trails is cool and unique. I thought this is gonna be the best haunt ever! Now the trails did have some innovative techniques that was unique. My favorite one is a laser fog swamp, burglar room with lasers and taser (makes for good jump), school bus, an inflatable hallway and a hallway with strobes and faces. Visually they were fun and made the scares more surprising. I liked that they could touch you. They had props that would come through the wall and that would make you jump. I wish for paying extra for it to be "dark" that it would've been darker and it was very crowded even tho they try to separate groups to make it more intimate. Groups from behind run up and start pushing. I liked the glow sticks so I can use it to see more detail of the Haunts that you wouldn't see since it is dark. But what do you want more... details or scares. I was shooting for scares. We were there for an hour. The trails are about 10-15 min each. It was nice length. Unfortunately though, for the price we paid for two ($76), I don't think it was worth it. I'd rather pay that price or a little more to go to Howl O Scream (never been) where they have 7 houses. I don't think they should charge more for the total blackout Nights but I understand why. I prolly wouldn't be back unless they add another attraction. But almost $80 for 2 trails and driving an hour there and back with gas, wasn't worth the hype. I didn't get scared but my fiancé did. I did have fun and we made memories. Some day I'll find something to rattle my bones! read more

Ridiculous! Unorganized chaos is best words for this joke of a place! They allowed way too many people in at once, waited for nearly two hours for our color to be called only to be told to go stand in another hour long line. We decided to leave. People piled on top of each other with NO Alaska! Covid breeding grounds! Do NOT waste your time or money. You will be refunding our money! read more

I loved the experience! It's fun for people of all ages, however I would suggest parental supervision. A lot of children were running rampant and screaming and we were kicked several times by children running into us because they were frightened. It's pricier but I suggest doing both trails. The first one is ok, but the 2nd one was fantastic and made the trip worth it. There is limited parking and traffic gets crazy so I highly suggest getting there early. The lines get very long and it gets quite crowded. There is food and snacks, there was a live band that was great and the staff kept things pretty organized. It's a fun event, definitely try it out once if you never have, I'm glad we did. It was more fun than Horror Nights in my opinion. read more
