They work under Darwin's leadership and have always been great about responding quickly to our work orders. They take the time to listen and always come up with solid solutions. We've seen a big improvement in the maintenance team over the past few years, and it hasn't gone unnoticed. Not long ago, our air conditioner broke late at night--around 10:30 PM. Justin Chapman, the Security Manager, jumped into action right away and made sure we had a cool, comfortable place to stay that night. We appreciated how quickly he handled everything. The care, quick responses, and genuine concern from the staff are what make Regency Oaks feel like home.

I dropped in randomly many times and it was endless reassurance my father was in great loving hands. The people there are absolutely wonderful from top to bottom. They genuinely care and try to provide the best possible experience while trying to keep things affordable for the residents. My father was getting every dollars worth he is paying and a whole lot more given how expensive today's world is. It really was wonderful to see that my father was in great care and at a great place with a wonderful team that care with all their heart! Extremely clean facility as well!

The staff--from Abby to Grace and the entire team in every cottage--deserve recognition for their attentiveness, compassion, and support toward both residents and family members. The cottages are consistently clean and well maintained. Meals are nutritious, balanced, and served on time every day. Even when I was away for the summer, I felt confident knowing my mother was in good hands. The staff communicate regularly about residents' health and behavior, sharing both positive updates and any concerns promptly. My only suggestion for improvement would be to ensure better management of personal clothing items, as they were occasionally misplaced or taken by other residents. The director, Dawn Grady, is a horrible human being who only cares about filling the place and residents are dying due to neglect. I regret sending my mother to Pacifica Bellair for the 8 months that she resided there, ending up with a huge hematoma that bled for two weeks. One of the residents, a little old lady that lived in the same cottage than my mother, was sent to the hospital with maggots in her legs and private parts. She died in the hospital. This place SHOULD BE CLOSED and Dawn Grady should not be working with our fragile loved ones.

The only thing she could afford at other places was a shared room that was tiny. The social worker we had knew the folks at Heron House. They worked with us to get Mom a private room at a price we could afford. Sherry, Marybeth and Courtney have all been really great to me and my Mom. The staff is consistent without a lot of turnover. Mom has her favorite nurse-Tequila who really makes her laugh and her favorite tech-Brittany who is very sweet. The all day dining room is a huge plus as the residents don't feel they have to hurry or they'll miss a meal. The homemade soups are amazing by the way. Heron House may not be the newest facility but the care they give their residents is genuine. I have found them to be responsive, caring and kind.

Unfortunately, a couple of years ago there was a change of management, and now the place is called The Preserve and is as pricey as ever, but the level of care and service has dropped off significantly. There are still lovely and capable people working there, but the management has cut back on the number of staff, such that for much of the day there's only one person on duty per floor, and if that person is on break, it might mean one staff person might be asked to cover *two* floors' worth of residents. (That's what I observed last time I visited and was shocked.) So if more than one person needs help at the same time, it can mean a lot of waiting. And old people often do need help. My elderly relative fell, and no one responded to her call for help for over half an hour. They also wake up some of the residents at 5:00 a.m. (breakfast is at 8:00 a.m.) because they don't have enough staff to wake everyone up at 6:30 or 7:00. So some people get woken at 5:00 a.m. or 6:00 a.m. and then they sit around waiting for breakfast time. The quality of the food served at meals has also declined dramatically. And I also noticed that some of the group activities that used to all be led by staff members are now being led by residents instead (e.g. song hour). I guess eldercare is a for-profit business. The Preserve has attractive grounds and a very nice building. I have no idea if other places in the area are better run. Having seen this place provide such better service in the past, I can't help finding all these developments really disappointing.

The nurses and staff are horribly overworked and understaffed. People come here from the hospital, often taking new drugs and with new problems, and they just shove oxycontin in them for pain and ignore the problems. Staff was nice when I was around, but the moment family was gone, my parent would be left for hours unchanged and unattended, until they had soiled their clothes and the bed or wheelchair. Repeatedly. The food here is inedible. They told me they were working on it, but in the weeks we were there, it got worse and worse. When my parent had a backslide on PT because of surgery, they gave us one week to get out. I know that this is normal, but it is not right. Ultimately, I'm glad we got them out, they are doing much better now. But the people at Palm Garden were not kind or caring.
