All the staff truly care about the residents and their families!! I visit quite a bit and everyone I've encountered is sincere!! I come to realize in my many years that no one is perfect, but when many people that are strangers truly make you feel like your family and go above and beyond to accommodate you from transportation, to meals, to nursing needs, I KNOW OUR FAMILY MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE!!! In many respects, I believe one could achieve a higher level of individualized care by staying in a hotel, hiring private nursing assistance for activities of daily living, and arranging services independently. While the facility presents itself very well from a marketing and sales perspective, I found the actual resident experience to be disappointing. The food quality was consistently below expectations, staff responsiveness was often lacking, and meaningful medical support appeared limited. On numerous occasions, I observed staff members who seemed more engaged with their personal cell phones than with resident needs. One incident in particular left a lasting impression. I witnessed a resident collapse and attempted to assist. I was instructed not to intervene until emergency medical personnel arrived. Fortunately, the resident recovered, but I was troubled by what I perceived as a lack of urgency, compassion, and clinical preparedness among some members of the staff. The activity program also fell short of expectations. Many activities appeared simplistic and offered little intellectual stimulation. There were occasional musical performances that were enjoyable and well received, but these were the exception rather than the rule. I also found the administrative culture difficult and, at times, unwelcoming. Residents who do not readily fit into the established social environment may find themselves feeling isolated rather than included. My overall impression was that financial considerations often seemed to take precedence over resident satisfaction and quality of life. Prospective residents and families should understand that this is not a hospital or a comprehensive healthcare facility. Those requiring significant medical oversight may find that the level of support available does not meet their expectations. Given the fees charged, I expected a substantially higher standard of service, engagement, and responsiveness. The physical plant is attractive and well maintained. Unfortunately, in my view, the quality of care, administrative responsiveness, and resident support did not match the appearance of the facility. For an organization that charges premium rates, the value received was, in my experience, difficult to justify.

This is a really calm atmosphere, all the staff and caregivers are very friendly. Ever since my Aunt moved in, she is never alone unless she wants to be. She settled in quickly. I like the friendly environment, the nurses and administrative staff is very good with her. It is great to see her now engaging in activities to keep her active and doing things she likes. She loves the entertainment. The staff and caregivers are so great with her and are able to get her to take her medicine everyday. She loves the meals and loves being able to sit and eat with friends. Her room is very nice and because we were able to bring some of her own furniture, it feels like her old apartment. The Executive Director Lisa McDonough is the best at keeping me updated on her progress or any health concerns. She is the best. I highly recommend The Terrace at Chestnut Hill for anyone who needs assisted living.

The Executive Director was horrible and I filed numerous complaints against this facility about neglectful things that were observed (with proof). Overall, when visiting there wasn't much life to the facility or much participation with residents from family members...the last straw was when the makeshift closet fell and they blamed my aunt and her dementia. They bagged up her items and left them that way for over a week...check on your loved ones if you decide to place them here. Brightview is absolutely one of the best facilities in the area on all levels. I have been throughout this facility and it is spotless! Clearly there is lots of attention given to cleaning because every public space, the public restrooms, and residents rooms emanate clean!! As you check in you will be greeted with a warm smile! Every single staff member who has been at the front desk has been very pleasant and helpful. I love that the activities area is right by the entrance so that visitors can experience bingo, song time, trivia games, or interaction with school groups with the residents! Such a pleasant welcoming area. Residents' apartments have a feeling of "home" and reflect each individual, which is what you want. I have watched the health care team provide care for more fragile individuals. It's clear that the staff members want only the best for their residents. They have responded to concerns and answered questions. If I had to go to a facility I would choose a location like this one

The facilities nearby had no beds, so he was going to be over an hour away. We were so hopeful that he would get the care he needed. He had a fractured femur and a catheter. He was at Arden from 8/26 until we were able to get him out of there on 9/18. On my 1st visit there on 8/31, the overwhelming stench of urine was striking. His 1:1 caregiver (paid xtra) informed me that that there had been feces and blood all over the bathroom. When the staff was questioned, I was told that one of the other residents would sometimes wander into other people's rooms and defecate on the floor. Say what? Shouldn't someone be watching them? I asked to see the video footage from my father's room but was told it only records if there is a fall. Total bologna! One would think that it was cleaned up properly but upon my return on 9/5, there was still blood and feces smeared in the bathroom. I found my father in the "common area" with his pants removed and nurses doing an "assessment ". My father kept saying, "help, help, help" until my sister and I went to him and helped to redress him. Mind you, there were residents wandering around aimlessly. One resident was trying to pick up medicine (pill form) that was left on the floor. Thankfully, a nurse caught her before she actually picked it up, but not in a timely manner. Said resident also came over and ate food from my father's breakfast platter. At this time we asked if my father had been weighed. Nope. They went about the procedure to weigh him. He weighed 148lbs. As of 2 days after he was relocated to a much better facility near our home, he weighed 131lbs. I returned on 9/6 and found urine all over his floor because the nurse forgot to "lock" his catheter. No one bothered to clean it up but I did find a nurse to properly reattach his catheter. His 1:1 caregiver was the one who actually cleaned it up, along with the old food stuck to his wheelchair. On to neglect. I called every day to check on my father's condition. Most days I had to leave a message. Most calls were never returned or were returned to a family member who wasn't the one who called. At one point, when I actually got through to the nurses station, the nurse told me she would check and set the phone down instead of putting me on hold. I could hear her saying to someone that she needed info on my dad. On her way back to the phone I heard her saying, "I don't give a shit". She got on the line and said my dad was doing well. I said, " I certainly hope that you weren't saying you didn't give a shit about my father". She stammered and said it was about someone else. Those words shouldn't come out of a nurse's mouth under ANY circumstances! I called another day and was told that my father was doing great, eating and walking around. I asked, "He's walking around?" to which she replied, "yes". I said, "with a broken femur?" to which she responded that she had no idea he had a fractured femur and would notate it in his chart. My father had already been there for 2 weeks and it wasn't in his chart? He also received no PT while there. We had one heck of a time getting them to return calls from the facility to which we were trying to transfer him. Again, I had to call myself and insisted that they call them back and the nurse said she was unaware of any messages or emails to that effect. I could, and did, go on and on but I think you get the picture. PLEASE do not send your loved one to the facility! The care is abysmal and the place is a pigsty. I have to live with the guilt of having my father there for the limited time that he was. I don't want anyone else to have to live through that particular hell.

My mother had failed to adapt to another facility and Arden turned out to be the perfect place for her. During my time there I met many other families in similar situations where other facilities had been unable to "handle" their loved ones, but Arden always had the magic touch. From a day to day perspective the care was superb, the food was good and the activities were varied and covered a wide range of ability levels. Unlike other nearby "luxury" facilities, Arden focuses on what the residents actually need and not what looks nice to the families. The residents who are mobile have free run of the facility and access to outdoors weather permitting. Use of a resident's room are limited as much as possible to keep them engaged in social activities. The professional staff were all top notch, with the facility director and nursing staff worthy of particular praise for both their everyday professionalism and going above and beyond when needed. Also worthy of note is that Arden Courts avoids requiring costly additional 1-on-1 care and will only send residents to the hospital when absolutely necessary. If a resident does end up at the hospital, it is literally located across the street minimizing the need for transport. Arden Courts is currently under the umbrella of a non-profit so as far as I am aware there is no private equity firm behind the curtain pushing to drive down costs. The Cherry Hill facility in particular is also very supportive of family members with access to numerous eat in/cook out activities, parties and field trips. At the end of my mother's journey they offered ample time to wrap up her room and have an open door policy for said family members to return interact with any persons they may have bonded with. Arden Courts of Cherry Hill 5/5, 10/10, 100% would recommend to a friend or family.

While I recognize that the…read morefrontline staff are likely overworked and operating under significant constraints, the administration's failure to ensure adequate staffing levels has led to severe lapses in patient care. My grandfather, who was suffering from dementia, developed severe bedsores--an unmistakable sign that he had not been moved or repositioned for weeks. According to clinical guidelines, individuals at risk of developing pressure ulcers should be repositioned at least every 4 to 6 hours. For sores to become as advanced as his, basic care protocols were clearly neglected for an extended period, causing him avoidable pain and suffering. With my grandmother, there were repeated issues with oversight. On multiple occasions, aides assigned to her care were found sleeping when they were supposed to be monitoring and assisting her. I understand that my grandmother wasn't always the easiest person to deal with--she could be difficult and wasn't always considerate--but that doesn't excuse neglect or the lack of basic attentiveness. Seniors in care facilities deserve to be watched over, not ignored. After she passed away, dealing with the facility to retrieve her belongings was another exhausting and disheartening experience. I made multiple phone calls and finally spoke to a few people who assured me they would leave her things at the front desk for pickup. Not only did that never happen, but it became clear they wanted nothing to do with helping us--despite providing multiple confirmations that they would. All I was asking for was a simple courtesy: to have some of her clothes placed in a bag so we could bury her in them. Being met with indifference at such a vulnerable and grief-filled time was gut-wrenching. Something so straightforward shouldn't have been treated like an inconvenience. These issues point to systemic administrative failures, including inadequate staffing, disorganization, and a complete lack of compassion from management. Families deserve better than to face added stress and heartbreak when their loved ones pass. Please, if you are considering this place for someone you care about, think twice. Seniors deserve dignity, respect, and care--none of which we received here.
