I thought I submitted an inquiry directly to a senior facility near me. I immediately received a call from an "expert" from A Place for Mom who then connected me with another "expert" who referred to himself as an "expert" several times. I gave him my 1st name, established I was doing early leg work from my parents, then gave him their 1st names. Then things went very bad. I did not want to give them my parents' last name (or any other info) at this point. I got a lecture on why the info was necessary-so he could get the credit when I found a suitable residence for my parents. I tried to be nice, explaining I was just starting to gather info, submitting only the 1st inquiry to a particular facility when he called. I asked how A place for Mom received my form bc nowhere on the facility's website did I see a reference to them. He then scolded "When an "expert" offers to help, most people just say 'Thank You'." They even rang my phone at 8:30 a.m. on a Sunday. This place does not respect boundaries. They push aggressive contact instead of offering real help. I would not add any star if possible. This business (APFM) is a scam. There is so much information APFM does not disclose when trying to convince you to sign up. After signing up as a provider agency, most of the referrals they sent me were fake (AI voicemail, inactive numbers, no feedback, etc.). I paid $580 for 10 referrals, and they billed me another $176 a week later, even though they told me I wouldn't be billed for the upcoming month because I signed up towards the end of the previous month. Then, when I asked for a refund, they categorically refused, stating there is no refund, which they never mentioned when I asked in the beginning. When I called the contact person who convinced me to sign up, she never emailed or called back again. However, she used to call or email me all the time before signing up. APFM is a group of thieves operating behind the scenes, stealing from businesses in the early stages to get clients. They text and call repeteadly from all over. I have texted the agent to remove my name, but no immediate result. I have no intention to leave my house as I take care of myself. Absolutely the worst waist of money! Not only did they not live up to their iron clad promises the only placement would have stopped her Dyalisis care in two weeks, which would end her life. Then even as promised if they couldn't find someone under $3200 per month... they promised they would refund the intake fee!! Then a week or so later they claimed they never assured that and refused to since they sent us a listing two hours away where we couldn't visit her! Don't waist your time or money with these generic email list that have outdated info out of the area! Never more disappointed than with these crooks!! Zero stars, but had to give one!! read more

I was attempting to gather information on rates for nearby independent living places for my Mom. She likes where she is but they continue to raise rent so she wanted to know what else is out there and asked me to assist. Searching online it seemed as though most places were unwilling to be upfront with their rates and insisted on a name,number and email to even consider revealing cost which I am reluctant to do. After much time spent and every inquiry seemed to be funneling me back to A Place for Mom, I reluctantly tried a help chat online. I asked for Independent Living Facilities within a 10 mile radius, studio or 1 bedroom and the amount she wanted to spend. Very simple question, very straight forward. The help chat person demanded my telephone number. I said any info they want to provide could be sent to the email address I have them. They insisted on a telephone number which baffled me because I was chatting online with them so they already had record of my phone. I repeated they could text info to the number we were chatting on or email me. No telephone calls. Then they said they needed to send over a document we needed to sign to allow them to assist us. I said no. There is no law in any state that requires a potential consumer to sign a document to be able to access rate information. While still trying to get us to sign a document for them, they repeatedly tried to get financial information as well and when I wouldn't tell them anything tried asking how much rent she was paying currently. I told them it's none of their business and that they way that they conducted business was predatory and disgusting and I told them to remove all info they taken from me and to never contact me again. This was over a week ago. I am still getting emails and phone calls multiple times a day at all hours of the day and night demanding that we sign a document. I send texts back to each number that continues to call telling them to not contact me yet the onslaught continues. Either they ignore do not contact demands or their technology conveniently let's them bombard you with phone calls while not accepting any return contact. Do not give them your contact information, here is the process in my experience... - they basically do what you can get from an internet search (in my case they had ZERO personal knowledge of the facilities), - then send you an email list based of that search, and contact all the locations with your name and tell them if mom/dad end up there they are owed payment, multiple communities told me they were worthless and wished more people knew, - you do the work to vet the places and make a decision that is best for your loved one, without their help as they really add NO value, - they contact you repeatedly and do not stop via, txt, phone and email trying to determine where your loved one maybe living so they can demand payment from that community... about the only value they "may" add is letting you narrow your list down by your budget but some communities list it others it takes a call...I found a MUCH better non-profit in Atlanta for mom that actually knew all the places and was a huge help selecting what was the best fit, I was happy to donate to them because they added REAL value... read more

I have spent 2 days trying to contact Memory Care facilities in Sequim, WA and all internet searches end up with a Place for Mom or its subsidiaries as the tel #. only 1 advisor called me back after multiple, multiple "intakes" with AP4M and that advisor, though nice, had nothing to offer since his network did not have anything but 1 place. AP4M offers terrible customer service. I am beyond discouraged and disappointed. Do NOT use this monopoly if you are trying to place a loved one. read more

I wish I would have read some of these reviews before I contacted this place. Whatever you do, do not give these people your phone number. They will call you none stop even if you tell them thanks but no thanks. Plus, all they do is give you names of facilities you can get by doing a simple internet search. I told Michelle at a place for mom that we were having family issues with my mom and we were putting everything on hold. She asked what was happening. I told her it was a family matter, she kept asking, I finally told her it was none of her business and if I wanted to start the search again I would contact her. A month later, her comes Michelle again on my phone. I reminded her that I told her to stop calling. Before we hung up she started asking again all kinds of personal questions about my mom. This place doesn't do anything, they just pass out your information to local facilities that again you can get with an internet search and then relentlessly call and e-mail spam you even when you ask them nicely to stop. Oh yeah, you'll also get millions of calls from the local facilities they give your number to. Just do a search yourself and tour a couple places, a place for mom does nothing for you and they will harass you to the end of the earth which is the last thing you need when you are going through this difficult time with an elderly parent. I got a list of 5 group homes in my area. as I read the reviews I noticed most said place for mom hadn't been to the site since 2012. with this concern I wasn't sure how accurate the reviews and info would be. the consultant scheduled 3 appointments for me, but I had to cancel them and reschedule on my own. I didn't get help past that, other than calls asking if I had found a place. the place I decided on was on my list, but they kept saying a place for mom should be helping me know more about what I needed to provide, etc. I'm happy with the group home, but the effort from a place for mom was minimal. I'm sure the fee to the group home was a lot more than the service I got. and the group home saiid a rep had been there in the last 12 months, which is great, but caused me some worry before my visit. read more

What a miserable experience using this so called service. Told the woman MULTIPLE times what we needed yet she referred me to four places, none of which met our needs. What we did get was endless phone calls trying to convince us we didn't really NEED a unit specifically designed for wheelchair users. Wheelchair accessibility just means you can get through the door. Whole different specs which we made abundantly clear. Do not waste your time, you can do much better on your own.
