My husband stayed at Skyline for 3 1/2 weeks following an extensive spinal fusion operation. We were both impressed with the care he received. The nursing staff and CNAs were attentive and caring. The physical and occupational therapists were excellent and he had PT/OT every week day and sometimes on weekends. The facility itself is lovely and the food was great. I am interested in moving to Skyline but can not believe they had a sales rep call me who does not know the basic facts about your institution. Honestly - she does not know how much the buy in is and if a percentage is returned to my heirs after my death. Honestly - If I am to give you over One Million Dollars, you need to do better on your end. PLEASE have some respect for your clients! My husband and I were in a bike accident when our tandem bike's front tire had a blowout and we hit the street hard. He escaped with minor injuries but unfortunately not me, I had to have pins inserted to hold my pelvis together, plus a total hip replacement. I also had a broken collarbone and 5 broken ribs. After 11 days at Harborview Medical Center we found Skyline thanks to recommendations from condo neighbors. We were amazed at the quality of care I received. I was at Skyline another 32 days. For the first ten days there I couldn't even get out of bed. But the Physical Therapists and Occupational Therapists were outstanding in working with me, bit by bit, to start moving. It was complicated by my broken collarbone, so I could not use a walker. Holding a coffee cup was the maximum effort I could use my arm for. I also could only put 50% of my weight on my injured leg. That didn't stop them from finding ways to help me learn to get out of bed, then stand, then walk with a cane in a way that still protected my arm and leg. 3 weeks after the accident I still hadn't gotten out of bed. After 4 weeks I started to walk with the cane and the skills they provided. 5 weeks after the accident the doctor cleared me to use both arms and legs with no limitations, and the PTs and OTs quickly got me walking 50 feet one day, then 100 the next, and so on. 6 weeks from the accident and I was ready to go home, and able to walk so well that within just a few more days I could walk without the walker, using the skills I had learned. In addition to an absolutely fantastic rehab team that worked with me six days a week (on many days for two hour-long sessions), they provided me with caring nursing staff and a staff doctor who spent one hour with me on our first meeting -- who gets that anymore? -- and unhurried visits several times after that. Skyline also provided a private room, a very clean and pleasant environment, and meals that were far, far above the usual institutional standard. With fairly limited things to look forward to each day, it was comforting to know that there were meals coming that I was actually excited to have served to me. As I slowly got stronger I was able to walk on the wide carpeted hallways and then outdoors on the several terraces that overlook the city. The fourth floor one was particularly nice as it has an extensive flower garden. In my month-long stay I never encountered anything but competence and a caring attitude. I don't recommend having an accident like mine, but if you do you will find Skyline a terrific place to recover your health and confidence in yourself. It will long have a special place in my heart. read more

I've worked in healthcare for 23 years and I've been a patient at a couple of nursing communities and without a doubt this is a superior community. I'd recommend them to anyone who is looking for retirement, assisted living, memory care, rehab, nursing home or as a career. read more

I've never given anyone a one star review but I'm sorry to say that Terraces of Skyline rehabilitation unit certainly deserves it. While this is a lovely facility with a beautiful view, the poor communication between departments is almost laughable if it weren't concerning a loved one's health. They made mistake after mistake after mistake. I have written a long detailed email to the manager and if I am somewhat satisfied with their response I may give them two stars. No communication from them yet. I'm not surprise! If I were you I would keep searching for another facility. read more

I reviewed Skyline when my mother stayed here. Somehow my one star review has dropped off the reviews. Clearly Skyline pays Yelp to filter reviews. I saw the pretty ad in this mornings Seattle Times. "Simply Beautiful." It is a beautiful building, that is true. The food is good. BUT The care my mother received for the less than 2 months she stayed at Skyline cost us over $30,000 above the cost of the high monthly fees. Buyer beware. I would not recommend Skyline for anyone with confusion. They are not set up for dementia care and are so worried about getting closed down again they will insist you pay for private nurses of dementia patients, even on the full-service, "locked" floor. read more

Well, from my recent experience I was sharing something I had not encounter anything like this before, I have been a CNA myself, a nursing student and currently working as an MA. My "complaint" regarding the thread title of "mouthy rude CNA's" on 7th floor On 6/28/19was in reference to being I was there to help her and told her that client, "patient" of theirs, needs two persons for moving, because it's written on daily board, Patient needs adjustment on bed properly due to her inability to adjust her body on her own, so I called CNA's and both were African American, to be specific, not that I'm racist and unfortunately I don't have their names, second one was very rude to the point she didn't listen to my request: when I heard them saying let's put her to wheelchair, I thought they were going to help patient back to bed properly so patient can sleep little more it was only 6:00 am and patient was falling a sleep after restless night, but they decide to take off her bed sheets and blankets, leaving patient with no options but to leave on wheelchair without anything to cover, I had to look for blankets I couldn't find any in room, and I had to pull a t shirt that can at least cover patient so she don't get sick, that's common sense to me if I were a CNA working in health center, I asked please can you put patient back to bed once the beds been made, since she wasn't able to sleep whole night, due to her involuntarily body movement throughout nights leaves her with restless sleep, None of them respond to my request, so I thought may be it's their way of saying OK, and I went to bathroom while CNA's were present in room and upon arriving to my client room, I notice patient was on wheelchair all by herself falling off the wheelchair, sleepy and with no blanket, shivering, and bed was undone, no sheets available, nor blankets, I was shocked! I wait for quite a bit to see if the CNA will return to continue taking care of the patients with bed sheets and blanket, while patient was falling off the wheel chair, but NO, I had to finally go and find RN because there are no point asking that CNA anything, because she ignored the first time, she doesn't even respond to you nor does her work properly keeping in mind that patient safety is number one for any health or medical facility employee, no matter what else is going on, that's what you been paid to do, but it really saddens me to see such CNA's that just show up to work and no intention to help patient and listen to their core problem and help, instead ignoring and leaving patient in unsafe position or places that could lead to legal contradiction. I spoke to RN and she said oh they are with other patient, I said this is not the First time i've been requesting since, they clearly ignore what I've request after explaining not to leave patient on wheelchair and so they did anyway, and now patients is falling off of wheelchair falling asleep, After 15 minutes, same two CNA's showed up with unhappy face, I ask her the one that was very rude in the beginning, that "please do not leave patient by herself on wheelchair next time, unfortunately," she told me in condensation tone "don't yell at me," I said I'm not yelling, and then she walked out while yelling on the hallway, it surprises me, you're the one is angry and instead of saying sorry, because I could have gone to complain lack of competency on her behalf and attitudes toward her job was strongly weak and her gestures of how she treats and talks to patient including their family members is none to zero, I feel unfortunate to have encounter such terrible experiences that morning. I have been working in hospital settings myself for a while and I know this isn't how you talk to patient caregiver, patient family and patient herself most importantly, due to patient being unable to speak or navigate her thoughts, I'm the patient voice, that's all I have to say, I feel this is very important to me to able to express my thought and experience of that unfortunate day, she was very offensive to me and yelled at me when at the end I requested her saying "please next time can you not leave patient on wheelchair" no blankets, and while patient was falling asleep, I could have taken patient to bed but it was two person assistance, so I need another person to move patient to her bed, but then there's no bed sheet nor blankets, it was a worse situation I have had encounter, I'm sorry to tell you my bad experience over at your health center, but I think every one should share theirs observation so it doesn't go unnoticed or next patient doesn't need to go through the treatment that we receive, she came off to me like I was a numb skull who had never been a CNA before, Thanks so much for listening! read more

My Mother has been at the Terraces for over 100 days now, she has been very ill with cancer, pneumonia,bone fractures and more. I travel from North Bothell into the city to visit Mom almost every day. Skyline at the Terraces is a beautiful facility adjacent to Skyline Retirement in downtowns firsthill neighborhood. With sweeping views of the city, water and the Olympic mountains. The staff will meet you with a smile and always helpful at the reception area( Cheryl) and valets. The skilled healthcare floors 7 & 8 have the finest staff members that treat each and every patient with kindness, compassion love and dignity. Nursing staff is the finest most capable group of indviduals.that treat each patient with love and devotion to care for them. , and nursing aides are the BEST! Dining room has a stunning view for the pleasure of the patients and their family and friends, coffee and tea are always available at all times. The cooks and Candice do a wonderful job in menu selections, food prep,choice, and taste. Physical Therapy, Adrienne and Misty cant thank you enough for you loving care and helping Mom so much, even helping curl hair and makeup application. Lily, Social Worker, you have been so helpful to our Mom and our entire family, open communication, care review meetings, arranging for all the medical equipment for her discharge and so much more. Megan, Carrington and Jennifer, I am eternally grateful for all the days and weeks you sat with my Mom holding her hand, calming her down speaking softly massaging her legs and just plain "being there' for her, it takes a special devoted group of people to love their jobs and their patients so much to take the time to spend with them. Truly devoted employees full of love .Lastly will miss Julie (Clergy) you brightened so many of my days, loved your power of positive thinking and the stories.... Fahima and Andria will miss you and your smiling faces and talking family. LPN: Katie, I cant even thank you enough for your long days and nights, weekends, Christmas Eve, calls you made to me with your concern and willingness to try new medications and help our Mom who was in such terrible pain. My mom just spent 48 days at Skyline under hospice care for a brain tumor. From the time I (unannounced) came in severely stressed and sad about finding a place for my mom to live until her death today, every staff member was kind, competent, and clearly the top of his or her profession. Cheryl, the concierge, was kind and compassionate from day one. Matthew, my mom's morning aide, is a gem. His focus was always on my mom. By singling them out I don't mean to say the others' care wasn't as good; it was. Those were just the two that I was in contact with nearly every day. My mom had the best care. The place is immaculately clean, appointed beautifully, and has a great view. It is the furthest thing from a traditional "nursing home" that I can imagine. I cannot recommend more strongly Skyline for its nursing care. read more

I work in the senior living industry as a PTA (physical therapy assistant) and Skyline is really knocking it out of the park as far as quality of care goes. There's great communication among the care staff and any concerns are addressed and solved immediately. Really good work being done here. read more

We came to find skyline due to an accident my mother had on a cruise ship. She had emergency surgery and to recover we were told to find a some place in Seattle to rehab. We spent many hours researching all of the services in Seattle. I found skyline, and what a blessing it has it has been for my mother and my family. The care, the rehab, the beautiful surroundings, and the people. I can't say enough about the staff. They have truly touched our lives forever. read more

I was in the Terraces to recover from major colon surgery. The facility is spotless and the staff members are great, very caring and professional I couldn't eat very much at the time but what they brought me was fine and well presented. I've had other friends recover at this facility and they are all very high on it. read more

I was at Skyline to receive rehab after surgery for a broken hip. When I saw my ortho surgeon after two weeks, he said the physical therapist, whose name is Chris, had not followed his orders. When I approached the director of rehab, she suggested it was my fault and when I talked with the pta, she blamed the md. The pts, Chris, also committed a HIPPA violation with another patient. This facility is not for someone who needs rehab- it's a snf and they probably do well with sick elderly patients. There are some wonderful nurses and Lily, the social worker, is excellent. But I would look elsewhere for a facility who is committed to following doctor's orders. read more

The Terraces at Skyline YELP Review I am writing this YELP review during "National Nurses Week (May 4-12, 2015), to give the staff of The Terraces at Skyline on Capitol Hill in Seattle (WA), stellar recognition! Last month (April 2015), I was a "short-termer" resident at the Health Care Center, following total hip replacement surgery. The decision to have Skilled Nursing Rehabilitation care for 3-weeks before going home after my hospital stay has made all the difference in my recovery. I was concerned because I live alone and wasn't comfortable handling all that is required post-surgery for medical monitoring, physical/occupational therapy and daily living once I was at home. At Skyline, Registered Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants were on-point 24/7. I was pleased that my surgical incision was kept clean and germ free, there was on-call assistance for getting in and out of bed, and monitored in-take of medications. Having nutritious, well-planned meals three times daily including snacks was so appreciated. Meals were tasty with menus that gave us (residents) lots of choices. The meal schedule allowed us to eat in our rooms or in the dining room with other residents, family and friends. We enjoyed a breath-taking view of West Seattle, Elliott Bay and downtown Seattle. When it was time for my discharge I felt much more confident because my overall well-being continued to improve while in such a pleasant environment. As a resident, I had sessions with well-trained, knowledgeable Physical and Occupational Therapists on a daily basis to help me work through the post-surgery hip and leg pain. We used focused exercises and equipment, appropriate movement activities, and treatment methods to strengthen my hip, lower back, and leg muscles. I learned how to use the necessary "tools" (e.g. sock aide, leg-lifter, a reacher and lifted toilet) that individuals with hip replacements must use daily during recovery, and thereafter! Everyone on the Health Care Center staff worked as a team, and combined efficiency with kindness making sure residents' medical needs were taken care of. I never felt neglected or isolated, and there was always a balance between the respect for my privacy and the health care routines that were necessary. I was pleased with my private room which had a landline phone, in-room bathroom/shower, free-standing clothes closet and windows that could open to fresh air. Even additional patient services were available (e.g., clothes were laundered upon request; and the paperwork for a temporary Disabled Parking Placard was completed before I was discharged). Friends and family could visit often at various times throughout the day/evening. The nurturing atmosphere made all the difference with my healing process. I participated in two Health Care Conferences, one shortly after I arrived and one at the end of my stay prior to discharge. This patient service delivery model allows residents to involve family and friends in their holistic recovery plan. During my conferences, the Skyline Terraces Social Services Coordinator and the Head Nurse Liaison, as well as the PT and OT staff participated in the consultations which helped move my healing forward in a comprehensive way. I am grateful for their support. Likewise, my family and friends felt secure in knowing that I was in good hands. The Terraces at Skyline has my highest commendation (5-Star Rating).
