I applied for help but was told I did not qualify because I didn't enclose tax returns I don't make enough money to file taxes - my only income is social security and a small pension that covers about 60% of my private health insurance - apparently that disqualifies me from getting any kind of help So yeah - thanks for nothing Swedish

It's not the closest to me but I will gladly go to them moving forward for all anesthesia testing. The office staff was great, they took care or kept an eye on my father for me as well. My only complaint is the discharge was not what I'm used to, it worked out in the end but in a normal situation this would've lowered my score by a star, for me it was great but if it was a loved one it would not have been.

I have discovered that Swedish does not handle the billing for emergency room Doctors, Physician Assistants, or Nurse Practitioners. The billing service is performed by an unrelated entity called "Seattle Emergency Physicians Services." PROBLEM: I have never received any billing statement or detailed invoice from you; please email both to me. I've already reached my out-of-pocket maximum for 2025, so I shouldn't be responsible for any medical costs related to my emergency room visit. HORRIBLE PATIENT EXPERIENCE Since I have never received any billing from your office, I do not have (1) a client number or (2) an account number when I tried to set up my profile and provide you with my medical insurance information. (See pasted copy of your website below) This is completely unacceptable. Why wasn't my personal and insurance information provided to your office by Swedish Medical? As a responsible person, I have spent countless hours trying to ensure all my medical bills are paid. Swedish Medical provided me with different phone numbers for "Seattle Emergency Physicians Services." I kept calling and was on hold for over an hour each time. I spent three hours at various Swedish Medical facilities (Broadway and Cherry Hill locations), but no one there could help me. I was told again to contact your office. Now, I am on the phone, waiting once more for someone to answer. Swedish Medical and Seattle Emergency Physicians Services should be ashamed! How could a disabled or elderly person navigate this extremely fragmented and poor-quality billing service?

It had a comfortable bed and clean restroom. And the thermostat was controllable (I usually like my room very cold at around 62 degrees or so). The nurses were extremely helpful and I have to give each of them a shout out! Noelle, Derek, and Jessica. I was not planning to be a difficult patient but I felt like I kind of came one unfortunately. I was in extreme pain from time to time and I couldnt always stay chill and cool. The nurses were quick to understand my needs without me having to speak too much or too loudly (I had a bit of trouble with after the surgery). They really went out of their way to help with my specific needs. The food wasn't bad but it just felt like food that used to be served on airplane back in the day. Compared to hospitals like Overlake, VM could really step up in this department! Also the administrative staff seemed a bit confused and disorganized. However, there is one main person (Kristina) that coordinated and resolved all the loose ends for me and she was extremely helpful. Overall, I felt well taken of care of at Virginia Mason and the surgery went well. Huge thanks to Dr. Sternbach and his surgical team. Check out the view from my room!

Because she wasn't completely off the payroll, according to the MBAs and accountants, she was not offered an MD, PA, or ARNP as a replacement...only the choice of 1 of 4 residents. I do not recommend seeing Joshua Lumsden, PA-C…read more It's important to know ahead of time that he is white and has tribal tattoos and dreads. I am not judgmental about tattoos and self-expression, but I am judgmental about cultural appropriation. I am white, trans, queer, and disabled. I have worked in medical settings for years. I was referred by another provider due to his expertise in working with complex patients. The good: This practice has 40 minute appointments. The space itself is beautiful. I was able to access trans healthcare and the provider was knowledgeable about trans healthcare. He follows up regularly via message. Now, you must be thinking: "That sounds pretty good! Why one star?" I thought it was great too. Unfortunately, things got very strange. First, whenever I said "no" to him, or asked him to do the tasks of his job, such as re-checking his notes or our previous messages before making me repeat myself multiple times via message because he didn't check, he told me I sounded irritable or angry. He also told me I needed to trust him more after we had only met for one appointment. I believe that trust is earned, not given, especially in matters that involve my body and sensitive topics. Demands for trust, combined with an inability to respect a "no," are huge red flags for me. He was overly focused on my feelings and my purported lack of trust, often saying things like "I hear your frustration" in contexts where that wasn't what I was feeling. Over time, I became more afraid to disagree for fear of being painted as angry and distrustful. I tried multiple times to address the issue directly with him. In the past two weeks, he began to message me way too often, including ideas for treatments for issues I hadn't asked for help with. Some of these, like diuretics, are directly contraindicated for me due to my other health concerns. I began to ignore his messages, as I don't have the time to address concerns I don't have or are not the most important to me right now. Although all of this was weird, I didn't switch to a different provider because many medical professionals do things like this. They make weird suggestions sometimes. Few are open to feedback. Unfortunately, the reality is that I need medical care, no matter my personal feelings about a provider. I don't feel like I have to love my PCP for them to provide adequate medical care. I was also scheduled for a pain appointment that he suggested that I was looking forward to, as my pain has not been adequately addressed over the past ten years, in part, due to medical transphobia. A few days after I ignored that weird message and the day before my pain appointment, he messaged me to let me know that he was canceling my pain appointment the next day and removing me from his panel because he decided he was not an appropriate fit. I asked why and received the following response (edited for space): "I did a review of records and notes and put a lot of effort into understanding your case. It is that work to understand that is the main driver of terminating care. The complexity is probably better served by a board certified internal medicine physician. My own work style and neurodiversity means that I am likely to forget things and need reminders. You've expressed frustration about this, and I do not want to continue to frustrate you. It wasn't an easy decision, and I apologize for letting you know a day before the visit. Even so, it is important to me that I disclose my limitations and be honest when it is not a good fit." I don't have a problem with medical professionals practicing within their scope, but the timing is suspicious. I had given him my medical history two months before, so he had time to review it, and we had talked about the complexity of my medical needs. I had also been specifically referred by a trusted provider because of his experience with managing complex medical care. I also have ADHD. It is not my job, as a patient, to be the accommodation plan for his disability. Especially when I am not capable of being that due to my own ADHD. As a medical professional with ADHD, I can definitively say that it IS my job (and his) to take good notes, proofread, and double check my notes in order to meet the requirements of my job while also having ADHD. Anyways, now I am left without a PCP in the middle of dealing with complex health issues. Trans-competent PCPs are hard to find, add chronic illness and it's basically impossible. It is incredibly difficult to start over with a provider when you have chronic illness. Given all of this, I believe that Joshua Lumsden more interested in unquestioning compliance and unearned trust than in providing medical care. I believe that he lied about his reasons for terminating me as a patient because I had the audacity to have boundaries and reasonable expectations for my care and our interactions. I believe he has a lot invested being a "good ally" and acts accordingly.

Seattle Roots has undergone a lot of changes from when it was Country Doctor over the last couple years and I've since had many frustrating experiences with front desk staff being disorganized, uninformed, dismissive and even blatantly rude. I understand the intense strain Covid and the ever-changing state of the health care system has placed on health care providers and clinics over the last few years, but I'm so disheartened and confused by the increasing lack of care at Seattle Roots. I highly urge other patients to research and seek care elsewhere, if they can. I understand there's not a lot of options for low income people.

I called as a prospective patient to ask basic questions about annual skin screenings and insurance referrals. During the call, I was repeatedly placed on hold and given very limited information. When I then asked if there was anyone medically trained I could speak with to clarify what services would be appropriate, I was told, "No, there isn't." The response was brief and offered no additional explanation, which came across as dismissive and made it difficult to determine whether to schedule preventive care. Here is Why: 1) I booked 3 weeks in advance, long line to be seen. This is understandable and common though. 2) I arrived 15 min early and filled in the paperwork online prior as well. It took me over an hour and a half to be seen!!! I had to ask the front desk if there was a problem before she called the medical assistant who then promptly came out to see me. 3) The medical staff asked me many of the same questions I filled out online and in paperwork after arrival. They never looked at any of my paperwork prior. Why did I fill out everything twice then?? 4) Although the doctor was very kind, they weren't even able to give me my basic prescription because they have a "blanket rule" not to prescribe my medicine! Now I have to wait another 3 weeks to be seen somewhere else, miss another day of work, and go this entire time without medication in hand. If they have this blanket rule then why schedule me to begin with??? What a waste of time and bad management. Worst experience at a doctor yet... avoid coming here if you can...
