This past weekend my plan was to pop into a few tattoo shops to talk to different artists and get a vibe for who I wanted to do my peacock tattoo. I have three smaller tats but this was to be my first larger piece. We stopped into A+ Plus because a friend recommended Kevin. Since it was such a lovely day Kevin was actually sitting outside with another artist, Scott, enjoying the sun. I chatted with Kevin and he said he was booked until July (wow!). My friend and I went in to check out some of the other artists books. I really like Scott's book and as luck would have it his 12pm had canceled so if I wanted to get my tat I could get it right then. Some of the things that appealed to me about this shop is that it is off the beaten path so you don't get a ton of people just hanging out and walking through. Most people were there to either get a tattoo or piercing. Another thing is that all the artists seemed very cool and down to earth. As I mentioned this was my first bigger piece so I was nervous. Scott put me completely at ease. I would recommend A+ Plus to any of my friends and plan to go back for my next piece. Side note- Towards the end I was a complete wuss about the pain, totally whining. To make me feel better Scott told me a story about a large man who balled his eyes out during his tat. I have been to many tattoo parlors and gotten a lot of work done all over Chicago over the years. A Plus is by far the best. Not only was Steve able to help me plan out my whole finished sleeve, but he also was able to help me incorporate the art i already had so it would all blend perfectly together into a finished piece. He made getting a tattoo fun and enjoyable unlike some artists who don't seem to be very personable. When i first walked into A Plus i felt more comfortable in a shop than any other shop I've been too. Every artist is extremely friendly and willing to help out in any way they can. There always seems to be great music playing which makes the place much more relaxing for people who are not as familiar with getting tattooed. there prices are also very reasonable for a tattoo shop and they will be willing to work out money with people who seem to be having troubles, these artists genuinely seem to love tattooing. i Will never go a another shop besides A Plus ever again :) read more

I recently got my 3/4 sleeve started by Steve Civnar a few weeks ago at A+plus. When i first walked in i was greeted by Scott who was busy working on his own client and my first impression of the place was it was a very comfortable and clean environment .it almost didn't feel like a tattoo shop. because from my experiences in going into other shops is like their just trying to get you in and out. it was a very different feeling at A+Plus. I brought Steve in a few references of some koi fish designs i liked, and he just took off with it! He even free handed some of it! i couldn't be happier with my tattoo from steve. He was super friendly and funny too! My experience at A+Plus couldn't of gone any better. I'm a now a life long client of steve's and recommend anyone wanting a tattoo at a reasonable price in a friendly stress free environment to go to A+plus. read more

Very cool shop. I've wanted a tattoo of Betty Boop for years and I finally went to A Plus to get it. I was extremely nervous about the pain and process of getting the tattoo, but my artist Steve Cvinar sat down and talked to me; he totally made me feel completely comfortable and made my nerves settle. It was apparent that Steve isn't at A Plus to tattoo person after person to get as much money as possible, but rather; he puts a very personal touch to his artwork, listens to his clients, and almost read my mind when it came to collaborating on our piece. He cares about your tattoo just as much as you do. The tattoo i got isn't just a traditional Betty Boop image; it has a modern psuedo-anime feel to it and it came out looking banging! My boyfriend and I wanted to get a tattoo one night and decided to check out A+. This is by far the best studio I've been to. The moment we walked in we were greeted. Everyone there was really friendly. Scott Beumer did our tattoos. His work is awesome!! (portfolios are sitting on the front, on glass counter when you walk in). It wasn't awkward at all. He is such a cool down to earth guy that we would deff just go back there to hang out!! Shop min is $60. We both paid min and got really decent sized tattoos. It only took about an hour for us both. I found my permanent tattoo artist!!! ... I set up an appointment with scoot beumer to get a tattoo for my birthday, he was very professional on the phone, wasn't a weird at all... ( tattoo artist can be a little intimidating) but this guy was very cool.He did a Hawaiian flower tattoo on me and came out amazing .!!! this spot is chill, relax ..and has great great great tattoo artist and there very reasonable with pricing !!! i recommended very much !!! read more

Steve has been doing a back piece for me now off and on for about a year. I am flying all the way from florida to have him finish it on the 20th. I took him a picture of the dragons head I wanted and told him to finish the rest of it the way he wanted ,and it totaly is turning out AWESOME!!!!...I get all sorts of people at the beach asking me who does my work and I always tell them its worth the flight to Chicago to check out Steve at A+..Thanks!! read more

I give this shop an A+++! The shop is comfortable, clean and its easy to relax when you are getting tattooed. All the guys are super personable, and really have a tremendous amount of talent. Steve has completed a sleeve, and currently working on a full back piece of mine. He's truly an expert on traditional Japanese art and tattoo style.He really takes the time to research and create stunning detailed work! I wouldn't trust anyone else! read more

A plus is awesomely accomondating. They tattooed my mom and I while we were there on vacation from Alaska. Steve and RIch are awesome people as well as talented artists!! I can't recommend A+ Plus Tattoo Studio enough. They produce great work--remarkable tattoos. I got a little butterfly done in April, and it turned better than I expected. The coloring is perfect--I'm extremely pleased. My friend also got a shark on her back; it looked really nice when it was all healed up. read more
