My daughter was having a reaction to the piercing she got at another shop and it needed to be seen. It looked infected, so she found this place and asked me to take her. The first thing we noticed was all the sanitizers and signs asking you to clean your hands and wipe your feet. And the place is not only nice looking on the inside, but immaculate! Gave us a comfortable feeling. We connected with Rosmerry who took us into her room, had my daughter lie down, and she confirmed that the piercing was good but the jewelry, which was stainless steel, had caused the irritation. She removed it, thoroughly cleaned and disinfected her skin, and recommended titanium at a higher cost but safer option. Rosmerry has her certifications on the wall; again a good feeling. She said she loves her job, and it showed. She showed her a lot of jewelry and explained the entire process. We were done within 30 minutes and my daughter couldn't be happier. I of course had to foot the bill m, but now at least she has better quality jewelry that she shouldn't be allergic to. We are fans! read more

My go to place for all piercings. I trust this place for any piercing needs, with my heart and soul! Came here for the first time last year in December with my boyfriend! He got his first ever piercing done here: a side nostril(he plans to switch to a hoop). I got my septum done here by Rosemary, and it healed up nicely! It did not hurt at all when she did it! Was completely unaware the needle went in even! Painless!!! I also got my belly button pierced here in February on Valentine's Day special, with Karen. Belly button also is healing up nicely! As they use high quality jewelry, and all the piercers here clearly know what they are doing! Planning to come back again for my birthday to get a lip piercing. Chicago Ink takes walk-ins and they have many tattoo artists in their shop. I don't recall our artist name. He drew our small design freehand on our forearm. He did a good job at them. I do think it was a bit pricey as we were in and out within less than one hour and I did tip him on top of it which he didn't expect. The atmosphere is great. There is alot of different music playing but it's not distracting. read more

i do not recommend if you want a decent, hand-drawn tattoo. before i start on the artwork, i'll set the scene: the place was underwhelming, dimly lit, and a bit dusty. i went in with a friend to get a memorial piece for a passed on loved one. upon arrival, there were several artists around, but none wanted to work on this small memorial piece. after about 10 minutes, we were connected with one of the artists at the portage park location (jonathan). now, my friend asked for something specific, simple, and meaningful. he showed his references, and gave feedback on likes and dislikes of the references. instead of drawing anything up, jonathan used ai generated artwork for the stencil. he actually said "let me draw this up" and i literally watched him open chatgpt to type in the image prompts. not a single line drawn with his expensive ipad and apple pencil setup. extremely ridiculous and disappointing behavior, especially considering the following this shop has. will be recommending other shops in the area, as nobody wants ai slop on their bodies forever. read more

Horrible experience that landed me in the ER. Went here to get a cartridge piercing. For reference, I had my cartilage pierced five years ago but it developed a keloid so after a year, I removed the jewelry. It has been untouched for three to four years. I told the piercer, Rosemary, that I wanted either a forward helix or another helix piercing but wanted her to look at the previous piercing first to let me know if she thought it would keloid again. If she said yes, I probably wouldn't have gone through with it. She asked to look at it and before I knew it, she had put a bar in the previous piercing and told me it was still open so I should just stick with it. I did not want her to do this and even though she said it was still open, I was in immense pain which I told her. I asked her to stop but she pushed the bar in extremely fast. So without getting consent, she essentially re-pierced this area and damaged the keloid. This all happened on Saturday. I was in immense pain daily. On Tuesday it began leaking fluid and I had swollen lymph nodes in my neck and felt horribly sick. After a very expensive ER visit, oral and topical antibiotics, and a very painful removal, the doctor said I had a really bad infection and if I hadn't come in, I would have risked surgery. At the ER I called and spoke with the manager who told me that he had never heard of anyone getting an infection after a piercing (really?) and if I wanted a refund, I had to bring the jewelry back as he thought it was a scam. If I could give zero stars, I would. From the infection to the absolutely horrible and insulting customer service, I would avoid at all costs. Hopefully this picture proves this is far from a scam... read more

I came in pretty early one Saturday. It's so dark inside I thought maybe they just accidentally left it open but I realized it's a late night VIP club theme. Velvet ropes. Leather chairs. A big "bar" area that provides 80% of the light. I found it really cool that all the tattoo stations were in sections with drapes instead of doors. There was a flatscreen tv outside each, displaying the tattoo artist and a slide show of their work. I didn't get the name of the lovely Spanish women that replaced my nose ring with a hoop. She was a little rough at first (my nose had a bump due to a really bad accident of me rubbing my nose in the middle of the night so I was sensitive) but when she realized I had pain she was much more careful and gentle. Put some tea tree oil on my replacement hoop and I was on my way. She said she had 20 years of experience so I felt safe My bump is gone now, a little bit of bleeding but I'm not worried about it since I had a purple bump to begin with (more so a bruise than a keloid). read more

(It's clearly explained on the .com that you need to bring an ID for guardian + minors; easy breezy). The team made sure my daughter felt special & in the know of what was happening as it was happening and care instructions for when we went home were shared/reviewed. We will be be back for sure and would recommend to anyone looking for a clean, positive piercing experience. Went in as a walk in because I thought one of my piercings had closed and they were able to actually wiggle it through. Apparently it was tight but not completely closed (every time I had tried it would just get aggravated and seemed to start getting some drainage). Can I rate this place a zero? Let's begin, after contacting Reuben for a tattoo appointment he tells me that I need a consultation, which is understandable. I share with him that I live 2 hours away and ask for a virtual consultation and he says he can't due to my project. I oblige and make an appoint for 12/22/2021 at 12:00pm. This appointment was made in the beginning of December and there has been communication as recently as the week prior to the consultation. On the day of the consultation I drive 2 hours to the shop. When I arrive to the shop I check in and run to the bathroom. After coming back to sit down, I was approached by the greeter and told that he wasn't in and would NOT BE COMING IN. Reuben nor did the shop communicate with me that he was not in prior to driving 2 hours to the shop. I text Reuben right away and he responds back with having had a procedure and wasn't able to come in. This is AFTER BEING TOLD HE WASNT COMING IN. He doesn't offer an apology, doesn't offer a date to reschedule, doesn't offer a percentage off. Better yet, the shop didn't offer an apology, didn't offer a percentage off, or anything. They only offered to pass me off to other tattoo artist. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY with this place. As great of a talent their artists have, their lack of professionalism and communication is undeniably the worst I've ever experienced, and that's across ALL business types. So I had my first and second lobes done here. The staff themselves are pretty friendly, aside from one guy kinda glaring at me and saying "..How old are you? You sure you're 18+?" (I look younger than my age, but I provided my ID so uh..lmao) I'm unsure about tattoos, but I don't really recommend this place for piercings. They pierced me with surgical steel which is fine for most people, but some have nickel allergies and can not tolerate surgical steel. I heard they also don't use titanium for initial jewelry. I also remember asking if they carried implant grade titanium (which all good piercers have knowledge of and understand there's a difference between titanium and IMPLANT GRADE titanium) and they didn't even know what I was talking about. My ears were always irritated and sensitive despite it being MONTHS into healing. I asked a girl here to swap the surgical steel for titanium and she didn't even take my measurements, she just put a SUPER small labret in which was clearly not suitable for my ears. This place also recommends tea tree oil which is caustic and should never be used near piercings. An amazing APP piercer at Insight also took my measurements and informed me the lady from Chicago Ink (here) pierced my lobes at different levels so I have to use two different sized hoops. Fast forward 5+ months, my lobes are barely beginning to finally heal properly after finally getting implant grade titanium put in from lovely places like Identity Body Piercing and Insight Studios. They carry high quality jewelry from amazing brands (Neometal, BVLA, Niobum, etc) and are so friendly. I have nothing against this place, and the staff were mostly kind, but they do lack knowledge in the piercing area. Should you get a tattoo here? Sure, if you like their work! Should you get a piercing here? I would advise against it. Try Insight Studios or Identity Body Piercing. read more

i will preface by saying i am not a professional piercer, but i have 15+ professional piercings, and i know generally how piercings should be done. i came in for a bridge piercing, which has now been removed. at the counter i asked how much it would be to use titanium jewelry (which is much safer than stainless steel), and told it would be a $60 upgrade. there is no reason for a basic titanium barbell to be over $45. onto the piercing; she did not measure my bridge, instead just held barbells up to me. these barbells also had 4mm balls, when i would have preferred 3mm, but i was not given a choice. i went to look at the markings i expressed my concerns about how high the markings were, and how long the bar she chose was. she told me it's how it should be done, and the bar was large for swelling room. bridges do not swell nearly as much as other piercings (such as lips and ears). anyways, i ignored my concerns and went on with it. fast forward about two weeks. the piercing was now crooked, and the bar was long enough to be a major inconvenience. so i take it out. on the way out, i see that the bar is externally threaded, which just causes unnecessary trauma to a piercing channel. also, upon removal i can see how uneven the piercing holes are. my overall view is this place would be fine for a simple piercing, as long as you know the risks. anything fancy i would seek out an APP shop/piercer. read more

Rosemary is a godsend !!! She is really my angel and I'm going to her for all future piercings!!! I walked in with a massive bump on my piercing. It was so big, it was bigger than my piercing! I was so self conscious that I cried about it... it's the first thing you see when you look at me. I started to lose hope and didn't think anything could be done about the bump. I researched the best piercing shop in the city and found this amazing place. I was not steered wrong. There I was introduced to Rosemary where she saw me right away , she cleaned the piercing area, popped the bump, treated it with tea tree, discarded my old nose jewelry, put new jewelry in and cleaned it thoroughly!!!!
