First off guy in the front Robert Serna is extremely disrespectful since I walked in he was extremely disrespectful and loud telling me that he doesn't have time to go back and forth me and to leave his shop, all I wanted was a explanation why my pan was damaged. As I am walking away he has the audacity to say to me "poser ass" "Get the fuck out of his shop" and that I didn't know who I was messing with cause he is a "Houstone" Gang member as he rolled up his sleeves and told me to step outside so he can show me. I have video evidence. I asked for his supervisors number and he gave me a card with a number and said "he's going to tell you the same thing no point" he was correct person I spoke to couldn't even apologize for the situation instead just said I will talk to him. Worse customer service I've ever had from an auto repair shop. I had to keep calling to check status of my repair. Javier Garza did not communicate when the work on my car was done. I had to pay for an extra day for my rental car because he sat on his butt. I had to call my warranty group to verify what Javier told me because I had a feeling he was not doing his due diligence. I was right. In addition, when I picked up the car with my toddler in tow, I still had to wait because he had not yet been paid by the warranty group. Imagine coming from the car rental company with a sleepy 2-year-old, carrying a heavy car seat, and waiting around for 45 minutes. You really need to read reviews in their entirety BEFORE selecting a company for expensive services like transmission repairs. A Plus Transmission on South Shepherd has earned a life customer and I recommend their services to my closest of circles. I own a 2013 VW Tiguan with around 60K miles with a current trade-in value of about $6,300. I owe $8,500 so I am basically upside down with valuation. Pretty awesome situation (nope) to be in when 2nd gear starts to slip around. A Plus Transmission on Shepherd was the third place I brought my car to for a consultation. Going forward, it'll be my first for all car related matters - no questions asked. I have trust issues with mechanics and after my costly experience just only 3 weeks ago ($2,200) with a radiator replacement, I knew I should shop around for quotes. The word "transmission" is super terrifying - it's associated with big money and big money towards this car makes no sense. I like to select businesses via Google and Yelp reviews. I'm all about supporting my local people and reviews have helped me find my masseuse, dry cleaners, my favorite ramen hut - once I find a place, I'm in - that's it, I'm a lifer. The mechanic industry is so slimy, I found it difficult to sift through the non-bullshit reviews. When I ran across A Plus Transmission, I thought "Psssssht! 4.6 stars = no way!" In my mind, there is no possible way for a mechanic shop to have high reviews. "Bullshit," I thought but I figured I'd try them out. When I got the call from Javier, my stomach sunk - it was the worst scenario. My torque valve got too hot, fried the liquid, and caused the pistons to grind creating lose metal fragments to sprinkle about the casings. Javier invited me in to show me and explain what happened AND how to prevent it from ever happening again. He introduced me the Master Transmission Artist, Rowen, who would be performing the repairs. Both Rowen and Javier gave me tips and tricks for regular repair and maintenance - how to keep my vehicle out of the shop. If I had my way, they'd have a meet and greet happy hour every quarter of year where they discussed frequently asked questions. Some of the things they were telling me, I'd have no clue ever existed. I've learned infinitely more about the way vehicles work and how to care for them in this one experience than I have in my lifetime. Despite the name, A Plus Transmissions, they offer all general mechanic repairs to include regular service maintenance. Let me say something that makes sense, if the transmission of a vehicle is one of the most expensive items to replace on a vehicle, you might want to follow a Master Transmission Artist's advice as to how to care for a car and what fluids to use. First I called for a quote; I called other shops and got a quote for a rebuild somehow this shop believes it could be a small problem I "may not need a rebuild". Ok less problems less money let's do business. Turn into a $600 inspection if you don't want us to fix the problem, turn into a $2600 rebuild if you do. So you mean to tell me you earned my business convincing me the damage may not be as bad to the total coming out $1,200 more than being quoted at other shops. Ok strike1. Second I was promised financing; I was denied all financial options so I made a payment that would cover the labor of the car $900. Then directed to in-house financing which I was denied because I didn't have collateral. Ok cool I'll pay it off myself before the month is over with. Strike2 Third my belongings were touched; I returned today and opened my door and everything from all of my compartments were pulled out and placed on my front seat. At this moment I immediately wanted my car back! I asked Robert what was going on with my car he said "we just need to put the seals on" this and that "but it's ready!" I asked him again he didn't want to repeat his self so he asked what was I asking I was asking "why are my things pulled out in my car?!" He said "for security reasons". Never‍in my 13+ years of having cars serviced has my belongings been pulled out of their compartments and placed on my front seat "for security purposes". Strike3 just do the job you were paid for, that I couldn't get financed for, and return my vehicle. Approximately one year ago, I drove my 2017 Audi Q7 to A Plus Transmission because my car was pulling when I drove up a hill. A Plus performed an assessment and said I needed a new transmission for $16,000. I paid the $16,000 and just received my car back a year later after lots of headache. My car now is barely drivable, has six different warning lights going off continuously, and smells like death. Because of all the warning lights, the car also will not pass the state inspection. On top of the $16,000 for the new transmission, I also had to pay for a rental car for a year while I waited in my car. The fact that I drove my car into A Plus a year ago without a single warning light going off and then received it back a year later in severely worse condition is unacceptable and appalling!!! Even the battery was removed (it's under the floorboard oddly) and half way installed so that the passenger floorboard is sticking up over an inch out of the floorboard. My car is now completely worthless, unsafe, and not legally drivable. Thanks for all of your help in wasting my time and money. It was my mistake for going here in the first place, so hopefully others can learn from my extremely costly mistake!! read more

I took my 2007 Ford Explorer here after the transmission completely went into "Limp" mode. I spoke with David and decided to leave it for a tear down and evaluation. A couple of days later I was given the bad news, that this had to be rebuilt and how much it would cost. I told them that I couldn't afford that at this time, and asked if I could leave it there for a few days, while I tried to figure out how I could pay for it. I came back and spoke with Eric, where he was willing to work with me, so I told him to go ahead and do the rebuild. I picked it up and within a few days, the "Power-train/ Drive-train" wrench light illuminated. I called and spoke to John who said to bring it right in. They replaced a few things, under warranty, and had me pick it up after a few days. I didn't get a few blocks away, when the check engine light came on. I checked it with my OBII Reader, where I had an error code P0193 & P0193p/d. I called Eric and he said to bring it back in so they could put a scanner to it. He came up with the same codes, but could't figure out why, since this sensor is located on top of the engine. Eric said to bring it back in about 2 weeks for a checkup. All in all, this shop will work with you and seems to be trustworthy, and stands behind their work. This is big for me, because I have severe trust issues with auto repair shops, and these guys go that extra mile to make the experience as painless as these kind of repair issues can be, and rank pretty high on customer service. Right away they diagnosed it and said it needed a transmission. $1500 was the cost ohhhh and they gave me $300 discount because I am a veteran. I took my 2011 Ram 3500 to them for transmission problems and they told me it will be $6800 to rebuild it. That was in November of 2022. I received the truck back and still had the same problems. Transmission fluid coming out the dipstick and check engine light on again.So I took it back to them and they said the transmission is doing the same thing when I first brought it to them. Tell me it might be the computer and corrosion on the transmission wiren harness.So in other words they didn't fixed the problem the first time. So then they tell me that the problem is faulty wires and a clip had broken. They claimed to fixed it. Picked the truck again. They told me to take it easy on it about a week and bring it back for adjustment. So when I was taking it back the check engine light came on and went into limp mode. This was done in December 2022. They tell me it's doing the same thing from the first time. So my question is did they fix anything or they don't know what their doing. And they still have my truck. February 2023. Now they want to try a rebuilt transmission from somewhere else. I think I picked the wrong place to take my truck to get fixed. Someone please for me. $6800 is a lot of money to still don't have your truck back. read more

Last summer I brought my Lincoln Mark LT here to fix the fly wheel, they wouldn't fixed it unless they also fixed x, y, & z so they can "guarantee" their work. They charged me $1585 to fix it. 12 months later (less than 12,000 miles) my truck breaks down again, I get it towed to the closest Mechanic who tells me that my fly wheel was broke, I tell him I just replaced it 12 months ago, the new mechanic tells me that A Plus transmission put a used fly wheel back in my truck. Martin's Garage off Jensen fixed my fly wheel again for $675. The original fly wheel lasted 10 years, the one they replaced it with lasted 12 months and cost me $1585. I do not recommend this place at all. I wonder if x, y, & z even got fixed. read more

So my '82 Datsun 280ZX started loosing power on the freeway yesterday. It felt like the clutch was slipping. I took it out of gear and revved the engine, which convinced me it was the clutch. So, I took it to A Plus. A mechanic diagnosed it. When I asked what the issue was, he told me to speak to the front desk guy (sales). I spoke to him and he told me that he would need to charge me $495 to diagnose the issue and drop my tranny. The mechanic was standing right there and I asked him if he thought it was the tranny and he said that the engine was bogged down. In a pinch, I told them I would leave it with them. Then I listened to my gut and drove my car out of there. What a scam. I drove it to a mechanic I have used before and he immediately told me it was the catalytic converter and will be doing the whole job for less than the "$495 diagnosis" they wanted to charge me. Finding a trustworthy mechanic is tough, but this is definitely not the right place. read more

This place sucks. I took my car in due to an issue that felt like the breaks were sticking. I asked these mechanics to check the transmission and brakes. They sold me a $300 "tune up" that fixed nothing. Then when I took it to a different mechanic, he identified the problem before I could even turn the car off. Said it was the most obvious brake issue he had ever seen and was baffled that these people missed it. I will never go back. They are either crooked or completely incompetent. read more

Worst company I have ever delt with, I paid for a transmission on the 4th of july, today is the 22nd of july and it still has not shipped, I am renting a car for the third week in a row, they say 7 to 10 buisness days, it's been 12 buisness days, they called me after I let them know this is not ok and they were rude, customer service sucks, I guess you get what you pay for. If the transmission ever comes it better have the cooler and the converter with it, I have a bad feeling it's going to be wrong. I do not recommend this company to any one, do yourself a favor and use someone else, this place is just horrible. They should get no stars but that's not an option. read more

I would give A+ a 0 star rating if possible! I contacted A+ Tansmission the day before I dropped my car off at the garage. In the conversation I had with Javier I told him I needed a transmission flush. I explained that it was required by my extended warranty with VW before I could move on to the next phase which would ultimately be to fix/replace my faulty transmission. Javier told me it would be $20 for the flush seeing as I already had purchased my own fluid and filter. I had to arrange a ride to drop off my car at the garage the next day. When I dropped it off with Javier I once again reiterated the need to flush the transmission solely to appease my warranty group. We both agreed that it was pointless to do this seeing as how changing the fluid in a slipping transmission only makes the problem worse. He kept on insisting that he could deal with my warranty group and replace the transmission in his garage if needed. I was clear when I told Javier that I had already lined up everything with my VW dealership to fix/replace the transmission, I only needed A+ to flush it. Cut to later that afternoon. Javier calls me to tell me that he has taken the liberty of calling my warranty group to arrange the repairs to be done in his garage. I once again explained that I did not want to have the repairs done in his garage. I solely needed the transmission flushed for the quoted $20 and I would then take it to VW if further work was needed. (My warranty explicitly states that all warranty repairs must be done in an authorized VW dealer or at the dealership in which the car was purchased.) Javier proceded to tell me that he would not do the agreed upon transmission flush because it would only make the car worse. When I told him that we had already talked about this exact thing twice he got all huffy puffy and told me that he wouldn't do anything to my car and told me to come pick up the keys. All in all, it was a huge inconvenience. I arranged a ride for nothing. Lost an entire day of my time that I can't afford to lose. And to top it off got a talking to from good old Javier about how he is in the business of "fixing" cars and not "servicing" them. Realistically, he is in the business of trying to take advantage of people and not listening to his customers needs. He wasn't trying to help me, he just wanted to scam me like a 17 year old girl that uses a Groupon for an oil change and ends up getting talked into rebuilding the entire front end of their car. If I could give this place negative stars I would. I am highly upset. They have disrespected my husband and racial profiles him and told him he must be a drug dealer because, he carries two phones, No sir we own and operate a lawn service. One is a personal phone the other is our business line, after speaking with the Area Manager David, He was informed by my husband that tools were stolen out of our truck after bringing it their establishment to be repaired. They first told him they pride themselves on a 3-day turn around, mind you it took nearly over a week to receive our vehicle back, and had to immediately take it back after only making it a block away to find out that the problem we paid $2100 to be fixed, still persisted. After being called a second time to pick up the vehicle, and bringing it home, my husband decided to go into his tool box for some tools to find that it had been preyed open and over $1000 worth of tools had been stolen along with the box that they are kept in, When speaking with Mr David he told my husband that we need to file the theft on our insurance, I intern informed my husband, that we will not be doing that, that he needs to file on his insurance, as they truck was broken into on their property under their care. I spoke with Mr David and ask what resolutions have he came up with for returning or replacing our property and he told me that they don't plan on doing anything, that we must have left the keys to a LOCKED box I might add for his staff to get into. I told him no we didn't leave a key for the box only the truck, as our tool box, has nothing to do with the repair of a transmission, and if his staff needed tools to complete their job that they had no right to go into the box to get them. He then told me he and his staff do their do diligence to go threw all customers vehicles to see if they have left any property worth any value, in their. I told him he has no right to rumble nor remove any property that doesn't belong to him and he told me to file a lawsuit in which I will be doing. This is not right, for nothing to be done, and to be made to feel like our concern of our property doesn't matter, what may seem no value to Mr. David. Is how we feed our family, and keep a roof over our head. the tools may be nothing to him, but everything that was taken is what is used to keep our equipment up and running. I had an educational experience. Yes my transmission works now. 7 weeks after they started. almost three weeks to get it back the first time. It lasted less than two weeks and had to be towed in. Less than a week after this attempt it was back for two more weeks. Do not ever pay a shop 100% upfront unless you know them very well. I am out almost as much in rental and extra repairs as the original estimate. The Ford dealer would have been faster and cheaper. They appear to do quantity instead of quality. read more
