I had a wonderful experience with A.R. Glass. Eddie repaired the torn screen on my sliding glass door, in addition to adjusting it so that it would finally close properly and lock. He also replaced four glass panes on three windows where the seal was broken and fogging up. His measurements were perfect and the new glass looks amazing. He told me that the frames were in good shape which was relief as the windows are 24 years old. Eddie cleaned the glass, tightened up the locking mechanism, and left no trash or debris behind. Eddie has a great work ethic, takes pride in his work, and is a nice person. He also responds quickly and his prices are very fair. Highly recommend. read more

Fast, professional, and fairly priced -- a rare trifecta in Washington, DC. Some charming youngsters blew out the outer pane of one of our windows with high-powered fireworks. A.R. Glass Repairs gave me an estimate based on a picture I sent them and had a guy out to take measurements within a couple days (since it was just the outer pane, we weren't in a huge rush). In a week, the new window had been ordered and installed for the exact price quoted. I had tried calling other glass places, and they didn't even pick up the phone. This is my first yelp review, but I feel extremely compelled to leave it. I would not recommend A.R. Glass Repairs. They did not maintain a professional flow of communication with me (in fact they ghosted me for 6 weeks after providing payment in full), misled me regarding wait time, and were generally discourteous, showing no flexibility to remedy the unreasonable long wait times. You cannot trust the representations they make because they will ultimately deflect any responsibility or accountability to factors outside of their control. On March 11, Eddie came to my home to inspect my windows. He took the old parts, rendering my windows useless, advised on the number of parts required and indicated that they would arrive within 2 weeks. I paid in full at that time (although I was lectured after the fact about how I only had to pay 50%). Two weeks later, on March 26, by the time the parts should have arrived, Eddie called me to tell me that the parts were delayed by five weeks. In that call, I asked if he could explore alternative sourcing options, and he said he would. I also asked if 5 weeks was the absolute latest timeline for delivery of the parts, which he confirmed. Eddie and the Company then went radio silent for nearly six weeks, despite repeated attempts to contact them via phone on April 3, April 15, April 25, and May 4. On May 4 (after my last attempt to reach Eddie), some other company rep emailed me and then ensued an additional month of back and forth via email about how the parts were still delayed. On June 4, nearly three months later, Eddie came to perform the repair and charged me an additional $177 (on top of the $531 I paid in March) for an additional part, which was apparently not ordered but nevertheless necessary. And, when asked about why it wasn't ordered, he had the absolute audacity to tell me that maybe the window wasn't broken at the time since "it's been months" -- a stark reminder of the time that I had waited and discontinued any use of windows, which makes his hypothesis implausible. In summary, the customer paid the price for A.R. Glass's incompetence and misleading statements and displayed zero remorse, understanding, or a basic level of empathy. To top it off, when I tried to negotiate my position, and told him I would leave a Yelp review, Eddie (who is likely over 6ft tall) told me -- a young, barely 100 pounds single woman -- that he felt threatened, while ironically threatening to undo the repair. He is probably going to reply to this Yelp review with a bunch of reasons why this wasn't his fault and how I'm somehow to blame. read more

Two of them shattered a couple days before we were having some family over, and we didn't want to postpone their visit because they were carefully quarantining prior to coming to ensure we'd all be safe from covid. I had 3 handymen visit and nobody knew what to do. Eddie was able to come the next day after I posted an inquiry on Yelp. He wore a mask and gloves, he was polite and professional, and I also had a really nice conversation with him. He got my glass panels fixed quickly and efficiently. He even gave me some advice on another window/screen issue I had. And finally, I was able to pay via Zelle, which was very convenient. These guys made my ancient vinyl windows look new again. I live on a Historic District block in Capitol Hill, and any new windows I put in will cost thousands of dollars *each* between permits and custom build and installation to meet the historic district requirements. The house I bought somehow has all vinyl windows, half of which were fogged up, cloudy, mildew-y, or streaky. Eddie and co came and measured, and a couple weeks later replaced all the failed double pane glass for less than what it would have cost to replace a single window. Basically they just removed the sliding part of the window, took out the old glass, put in and sealed new glass, and popped it back in to the existing frame. I had been in an absolute panic over deciding whether to pay thousands of dollars for all new windows and installation, or living with gross, foggy windows in my new house. They may still be vinyl windows, but they look like new and are back to being energy efficient. Plus they were friendly, professional, and COVID-cautious. 10/10. read more

This was a while back before my first daughter was born, but then my daughter was born and I never actually wrote the review. When we bought a house, we were told that the windows needed to be repaired. While hugely pregnant, I reached out to get quotes from different companies, who were explaining why I needed to fix X and redo Y and the quotes were adding up quickly, but they kept telling me that since it's for the nursery, I'd have to do it. Then someone from A.R. Glass repair came out and just fixed the windows. They needed a small tweak that I didn't know to do on my own--but they also definitely didn't need the massive repairs the other company was claiming. You can trust this company. They're trying to build a reputation for doing honest work well, and I just don't see why you'd want to call anyone else. read more

I am deeply unhappy with the very sloppy job Eddie and crew did installing window panes. The glaze has holes, is not smooth and is all over the glass. I paid him alot of money to do this job. He disputes that its a bad job and says I should just paint it. I relied on the good reviews on Yelp so need to set the record straight. I'll change this review if he returns to the site and fixes it. Although now he's saying he's too busy. Update: When you hire an expert to do something you are relying on their knowledge and there is a level of trust. I did not approve of the sloppy job upon review but Eddie assured me it would "dry" or look better once painted. However my contractors saw it and said it was the sloppiest job they had ever seen. I paid Eddie $1,000 for this job. I hope he prioritizes it and returns to fix it. I'm not sure what other option I have since he required payment upfront. read more

Our neighbor shot our window with a BB gun, and we got several quotes to repair it. A.R. Glass Repairs came in around the middle, but they were friendly and responsive. Once we settled on them, they were quick to schedule a measuring appointment and then quick to install the glass once it was ready. They sent us an invoice with an online portal to pay, which was nice. The window fits perfectly and looks great- you'd never know it was ever replaced. Very pleased with this business, excellent same day service at a fair price. I needed someone to come take a look at our broken glass pane in a very old basement crank window. The window wouldn't close all the way and we broke the glass trying to push it back into the frame in order to shut it (to no avail). Yesterday at 8am I called a different company who didn't come out til almost 9pm, only to tell me he was so booked up he wouldn't be able to do the work for 3 weeks. Don't know why he even bothered to come, as I clearly told him over the phone this was an urgent repair. Wasted both of our time. So this morning I called A.R. Glass Repairs. Eddie arrived within an hour of my call, gave me a reasonable quote and proceeded to do the work immediately. He replaced the pane and then spent over an hour trying to finagle the window into the frame, which I'm sure he hadn't factored into his estimated labor cost. Eventually he got it and did not charge me anything for the extra work, even though I asked. He also did a lot of the work outside in the pouring rain. Eddie was very friendly and professional. This is not a QoS review. I reached out to A.R. Glass Repair about two years ago to replace a sidelight window that shattered. Customer service was very friendly and prompt. I was quoted approximately $500 - $800 claiming that the door would need to be replaced as well. I was told that the sidelight itself could not be replaced, the entire frame would have to be removed. I wasn't about to replace my entire door/door frame for what I truly thought was a matter of just replacing the glass. Of course I am no expert but did think best to get another quote/opinion. All Glass & Mirror - located in Annapolis. Not only were they able to get the job done w/o requiring the replacing of the entire door/frame but they were prompt & the job took less than 40 mins - total cost $307! I inquired for a quote about the broken glass on my door. I should have went with my gut because Eddie wasn't friendly or personable whatsoever. When you're in a business, customer service is everything and your business should reflect that, especially if I'm allowing you to enter my home. I had to send him a text to confirm the date and time for my appointment which was between 12 and 2. Eddie sends a text asking if he could come early, however I wasn't available. Eddie then decides to come to my house without my confirmation prior to the appointment time we agreed on. I asked for him to come back at 12 (our schedule time slot) since my husband wasn't present. He gave me the thumbs up and looked aggravated. Needless to say, Eddie never returned and I won't be using his services. UPDATE: The problem is you came unexpectedly without confirmation. I was having issues with my phone hence why you never got a response from me. My phone was not accepting calls or texts during this time. You assumed I was being rude which wasn't the case at all and also assumed I didn't want you to return. I told you nicely to come back during our scheduled time. I was home waiting and would never tell you to come back if I didn't want the work done. If I were a service provider, I would come during the scheduled time. After some very quick responses, Eddie came by for a free consult on some window screens I wanted installed. We had tried a make-your-own screen kit but had trouble fitting it into the windows. I just assumed we got the wrong kind. He could have told me it was X amount to do it for us and I would have just gone with it, but Eddie immediately revealed the (now fairly obvious) method of popping the screen we made into place, and didn't charge me a dime.
