The piercing place I went to pierced it too short initially and when I asked them to help me with the infection, they still didn't give me a long enough bar. In a last ditch effort before taking it out, I found Rockstar and they were available super last minute. He worked with me patiently and professionally. I promised to come back. Today was the day I came back and after he returned my call, I headed over for yet another awesome experience. I downsized my conch and even bought more jewelry for my lobes. I was super picky and had such a hard time deciding exactly what I wanted but Connor went above and beyond to help me. He searched his entire inventory and by the time I finally was satisfied, almost 2 hours had passed! I wasn't an easy client due to my indecisiveness and my lack of knowledge about my piercings, but he never once made me feel rushed or silly. **PIERCING WAS JUNK AND PIERCER HAD BAD ATTITUDE!!** I went into the shop and got a tongue piercing and had to take it out because of complications. At first the piercer seemed chill and the piercing went smoothly, I didn't start experiencing problems until the next day. The way he pierced it was on an angle so the piercing sat deeper on my tongue but really close to my teeth on the bottom (I also have a bottom retainer). From the first few days I noticed it wearing down my retainer as I can feel the wire now, I thought it would be fine and go away but later on, but my bottom teeth started becoming more sensitive as the days went on. When it came time to downsize, I went to the shop and they were closed for 2 weeks due to the rising cases of COVID so I went to a different shop and they told me because of the piercings position, it was going to take longer to heal, potentially cause more oral/dental issues then normal, and 2 different piercers advised to remove it, so I did. When I called this shop and asked for a refund, the piercer said a refund is off the table because the other shop was "talking shit" about their shop and I shouldn't have listened to them, there was nothing wrong with the piercing, and it was my choice to take it out. He also had an annoyed attitude the second I said I wanted a refund and DID NOT want to help me at all, seemed like he really just wanted the money and did not care that the piercing caused me issues because it didn't cause him any issues. read more

I went to this place to get a commemorative tattoo of my Hawaiian vacation and Laz did NOT disappoint. Not gonna lie, the location is shady AF, but the yelp reviews were good so I went in anyway. I know this is kind of a long review, but if you're planning to get a tattoo in Hawaii, this will be worth the read. There is a reason why this tattoo shop has all 5 stars! This is the perfect typical tattoo shop located in downtown Waikiki. Our first impression walking down to the alley between 2 bars was not a good one. But, I learned real quick not to judge a book by its cover. My wife and I were on our honeymoon and we had the intention on getting tattoos that were the same idea, not matching. When we first came in we were greeted by a tattoo artist by the name Lazarus. After talking to Lazarus for a few minutes, he seemed to know what he was talking about. We showed him our ideas and he measured our calves. After a little bit more talking he gave us a quote and we were satisfied. The shop minimum is $80, so if you want something small you might want to go somewhere else. After about 30 minutes in the shop, we put down a deposit and we walked back to our hotel. We started looking at reviews of the shop, and they were all great about the shop. But, there was nothing on Lazarus except one vague, "Lazarus did a great job!" Quote. We looked up some more reviews on Facebook of the shop and a little more research. There was very little information on Lazarus. But, we already paid the deposit and we were scheduled for 2 o'clock the next day. We came to terms in just trusting that Lazarus knows what he is doing. The next day we showed up at 1:30 and Lazarus was just finishing up the drawings. After about 15 minutes, he came downstairs to show us his drawings.....boom....perfect. Both of them. Exactly what we both wanted! Not a single thing changed. He finally brought us upstairs and I was first on the table. I forgot to mention, this was my very first tattoo. I got myself a little worked up at first, but once it started it was no problem. Lazarus, the wife and I were all laughing and having a good time the entire time. About an hour and a 1/2 went by and I was done. I was finally able to see it, and I loved every last line of it. What an amazing job. The wife's took a little bit longer because of coloring and a little more shading. But, Lazarus kept us entertained the whole time. After it was all said and done, we tipped well him and parted ways. My first tattoo looked awesome, the wife's tattoo looked awesome and I couldn't have been more pleased. Lazarus, if you read this, thanks again! You did an excellent job, and these Alaskans will be back again! read more

I've been a "body art" conservative all my life with the basic earlobes pierced since I was 2. Now over 30, I decided I wanted a nose piercing! Living in Waikiki, there are actually many places nearby, so I asked around to my friends, and yes, came to this site to check out reviews. This is about puncturing my body, after all, so I wanted to feel like I made a good decision about the place. To be honest, I was so determined to get this piercing on a specific day, and since Rock Star is open on Sundays, they were the place!! Conor was very kind, understanding about my wishes, and made me feel like although he had done this a thousand times (which was reassuring), that he was taking extra care with me to get the placement exactly where I wanted it. To sound a bit cheesy, it made me feel special. I was very happy when I left. My body ended up reacting to the piercing a bit, so I had to go back twice within the first month to have Conor check on things and make a few adjustments. Both times he was quickly available, calm and reassuring, and of course, fixed things at no extra charge. This part of his service is what stands out to me even more than the original piercing. After everything had healed nicely and my nose was cute and sparkly, I stopped in again just to let Conor know that I wasn't back for any problems and that I was 100% pleased with the final result. Some years ago I had my navel pierced, but took it out upon my move to Hawaii as a teenager. Now, some 10 years later, I decided it's time to get it re-done. After searching google and Yelp for reviews of piercing shops in Honolulu (preferably in town/Waikiki, but not a requirement) I was surprised to find much fewer piercing shops than I expected. Some shops had good reviews and good prices, but most also had at least one horrible review which steered me away. All signs kept pointing back to A Rock Star in Waikiki as the place to get pierced. The three dollar signs suggest the price may be a little more, but how much more can it be? 5 bucks? 10 bucks, no biggie. I decided to head down this evening after work. Fortunately, there was no line and I was the customer of the hour! The nice girl at the desk promptly greeted me, inquired what I wanted done, and did the typical paper work (one page, name/address/read/sign, easy!). A couple minutes later we headed back to the room. The room doesn't have granite counter tops or marble flooring, but it is clean and the chair is comfortable! While I didn't officially exchange names with the piercer, looking at the pics it is the man Conor himself. Very cool, easy going guy. Marked me up, and after giving the OK that it looks good put the needle and jewelry through. Quick and relatively painless. My questions on aftercare, and questions about some other piercings, I have, were all answered. Couldn't be happier or expect more from a piercer or shop. The price for the standard navel with a plain (silver) curved barbell was $65, excl. tip. (a double jeweled barbell = $70). Admittedly there are places that will do the navel piercing for $50 or so, you are FAR better off going to A Rock Star Tattoos & Piercings, the extra few dollars will be WELL SPENT (just read the reviews and experiences of the other places and compare to this). I have been looking a good tattoo shop in Hawaii for a while and read a lot Yelp review. Finally, I found a really good and professional tattoo shop in Waikiki. First time I walked in the shop honestly I felt a little bit nervous, but after couple minutes to talk to Conor and Laz I felt they are really friendly. I had a really ugly tattoo with me about 10 years, it looks bumpy and some area had thick scar after two to three times of laser treatment, but it didn't remove so I gave up. I have been thinking to cover it long time, but I just want to make sure I can find a really good tattoo artist and a good pictures I will never regret this time. After I share my concern, I showed Laz some pictures and tell him my ideas, and very soon he already can tell me how he will did my coverup and describe to me clearly. After about two weeks, I went to the workshop and he showed me his sketch, I was surprised and really really like his sketch and he was really patient to discuss the colors with me for a while and also he add a lot details in my coverup tattoo.
