I would definitely come back here for another piercing. The studio is very clean, professional, and knowledgeable. Kirakira is located in Restaurant Row, and they validate parking with purchase (not sure if there's a minimum). This was my first time here, and even as a walk‑in I only waited about 10 minutes. You can also book online or call ahead, which I highly recommend because they were pretty busy. I had Kylie, who I later learned is the owner and head piercer. She was very upfront about pricing and gave honest feedback about which styles would complement my ear and which wouldn't work as well. After I chose my earrings, I waited about 15 minutes while she sterilized everything. She then brought me into a private room, removed my old piercings, and placed the new ones. Before I left, she made sure I inspected everything and was completely happy with the placement. I spent about $480 for four earrings ($400 plus a 20% tip). I'm extremely allergic to nickel and poorly made jewelry, so quality is a big deal for me. It's been about two months now, and I've had zero issues--no irritation, no reactions. The price may seem high to some, but the service, professionalism, and quality of the jewelry make it absolutely worth it, especially if you want long‑term wear and proper healing. Kirakira is located inside the Kirei Kollective, which is an adorable and welcoming space. They offer validated parking in the Waterfront Plaza parking lot. Kirakira has a great selection of beautiful, dainty jewelry (more can be seen on their Instagram). The staff is super responsive and appointments can be made easily online. I've received a stacked lobe piercing from Tonia and had a great experience! I've spent $110 for the service ($50 for 1 lobe piercing, $50 for an upgraded jewelry piece, and $10 for the saline spray). They accept cash/venmo if you'd like to avoid a credit card fee. I'm so happy I found this location, and I'm planning on another visit soon! read more

This is a great place to consider getting a piercing done! Clean, knowledgeable, and a friendly-calm vibe. The jewelry selection was nice and varied too - lots of great options and styles (I was looking for 14 kt piercings). Appointment booking and consent form completion was all done online. Walked in without an appointment yesterday looking to get a double helix piercing and I was immediately helped by Mel. I told her it was my first time getting a helix piercing ever and she was super supportive and made me feel extremely comfortable. She also told me about different places that would work for my anatomy and made sure I loved the placement of the piercings before it was done. Overall, the piercing was painless and quick and she told me exactly what was happening when it was happening. Any questions I had were answered positively and the process prior to the actual piercing (picking jewelry, talking about what I wanted, etc.) went super smooth! I came to Kirakira just this afternoon to get a hidden helix piercing and had the best experience! I asked a million questions and the staff was very knowledgeable and patient. Keep in mind that the price of the jewelry can be a bit steep depending on the style you want so just be prepared for that (not their fault at all, they're very transparent about pricing!), but the quality is great and I haven't seen similar designs anywhere else. Both Izzy and Kylie were so helpful and kind to my friend and I. We've never been to kirakira before and I'm a super anxious person when it comes to piercings, tattoos, lowkey everything and anything but they made our first time experience here really pleasant and comfortable! We walked in today (but you should schedule appt online! lol) so I'm grateful they had time for us. It's one of the best and most trusted places I would go for any piercing. I have had about four. It's like every time I visit HI, I have to stop by. Such a cute shop!!! My 17 year old wanted a septum piercing for her birthday. I didn't want to take her to a tattoo shop so I researched a bit to find a place that she'd be comfortable in. Kirakira was PERFECT!! Their spot is located at the Waterfront on Ala Moana Blvd. (the old Restaurant Row) right across Ruth's Chris. The shop is adorned with pink, flowers, and a cutesy kawaii feel. Mai was super nice and welcoming. The piercing itself took less than 10 mins. They had their pets roaming around which was an added bonus because we love animals BUT don't be mistaken, their shop is extremely clean and hygienic. This place is small and cute, located within the Kirei salon. The girls in the front of the salon were nice and pointed to the piercing waiting room. And let me tell you this, I was amazed by the solid gold jewelry selection from multiple brands. A gold girlie's dream. Anyways, let me tell you about the experience. Kylie was so helpful, I gave her my budget and she gave me a variety of things to choose from, in the end, I got a titanium nipple bar for a reasonable price. For my first time, that sh... was spicy! I needed to have several of my face piercings replaced, and after a disappointing experience with another studio in Kailua on Kailua Road, I went in search of a new piercer I could truly trust. A quick online search led me to KiraKira Piercing Company, and from the moment I saw their website -- and later stepped into their beautiful studio -- I was impressed. The atelier has a youthful, stylish energy, yet feels warm and inviting, almost like a little salon de beauté. Even though the studio was bustling with clients, Mai Kayano managed the flow effortlessly, scheduling my appointment the same day and welcoming us back the next. She even encouraged me to bring my teenage daughter, who also wanted a few piercings adjusted -- a thoughtful touch that meant a lot. Mai's service was nothing short of excellent. I've been wanting to go here for a while because I got my nostril pierced by Kylie last year and I really liked the experience that time, so seeing that she had her own shop now made me want to go even more! I booked an appointment for a flat, and my friend tagged along to get a pair of lobes. Their booking site is very easy to navigate and they even give instructions on how to book if you'd like multiple piercings or want to bring a friend. Each piercing option on the site gives you the base price (with standard jewelry included) and how long the piercing process will take. I only booked one 30 minute session and this was perfect for both my friend and I! When we came in we sat in the waiting room and filled out our consent forms, picked out our jewelry and were informed if there were any additional costs for each jewelry piece. I chose a 3 gem cluster for my flat which was an extra $35 (worth it!) and my friend got the regular ball-top jewelry. The standard jewelry is made from titanium, which is great for me since I'm allergic to sterling silver and don't heal well with steel, and some upgraded jewelry pieces are made from gold. Our piercings were performed by Tonia, and the entire process was clean and quick. She cleaned the areas before piercing, all the needles were brand new out of the packaging, jewelry was sterilized, gloves were used, and she cleaned her piercing tray in between my friend and I. She marked where our piercings would be and let us check it to make sure the placement was good, then got right to piercing. My friend was done with his pair of lobes in about 10 minutes, and my flat was done in about 5! The overall vibe of the shop is very cute, everything is pink! I loved how quick and easy the process was. Tonia was a great piercer to have, she was very friendly and made all of us feel super welcome. I will totally be coming back for my downsizes and jewelry changes. There were a few dogs in the shop when we came in as well, not sure if they're there all the time but they were very friendly and cute. Kylie has been my piercer for all of my piercings!! I've gotten 9 piercings with her and counting. She's knowledgeable about her work, including accurate heal times, how a piercing might affect your symmetry and aesthetic, and whether or not a piercing is suitable for your anatomy! She's even honest about if she thinks a piercing is going to have difficulty healing (which she's always been accurate about). I intend on making my ears as busy as possible so I'm going to be working with her for a long time as my piercings heal! I'm incredibly glad I found her, and didn't just go to someone who would pierce me willy-nilly just because I asked and have the money for it LOVE Kylie! I came in as a walk-in and a non-kirakira. They brought me in right away and understood my situation. I wanted to downsize my helix and make sure my piercing to make sure it was healing well or if there were any concerns before doing anything. Mai was so helpful and answered all my questions. Fast forward about six months later, everything was fully healed when the ball on the end of my piercing fell off. I couldn't get it back in on my own, so I drove back to Waikiki. They helped me right away, no questions asked. I'm also really happy they moved to Kaimukī. The new location is much easier for me to get to and the parking situation is way better. She will ask you for your ID, make you sign a wavier, she will bring you back to the room, cleans the area of your choice, marks the spot where she will pierce and will ask you if you like it or change it. Then she will have you sit or lay on the chair bed, and then she will do her piercing magic. Very quick and smooth experience! Pain level for each piercing: Top Navel 8/10 Earlobes 1/10 Daith 6/10 Rook 6/10 There's no body jewelry there for you to buy, she usually defaults with the plain surgical steel ball and bar. It was super odd, i've never had a piercer ever be so unfriendly. a few months later i went to my usual piercing place to get new jewelry and kinda talked about the Ink Pit to her. she knew who i was talking about because i guess Lisa "botches" her clients and has a reputation of it in the piercing world. my flat jewelry from the Ink Pit was so long but i thought it was okay, and my usual piercer said she was surprised it healed because it was too long to safely heal. i usually don't have trouble with my piercings, but this was so painful and hard to heal. as soon as i got a shorter piece, it stopped hurting and looks great now. their starting jewelry is terrible. this place is cheap and quick and im sure Lisa was just having a bad day when i was in there, but there are much better places to go. and remember, there's a reason why it's so cheap.

Been wanting to get a honu ink'd to remind me of where I came from... where home really is. Everytime I go back, I run out of time or just didn't want to give up the beach day. This time the whole fam was IN... when I explained my design concept, both my wife and daughter wanted their own version, still honu themed. da Scene: Determined to get this done done during the 16 day visit back home on Oahu, I did my research early and narrowed it down to 3 spots initially. After some dm's, email exchanges and finally some voice calls, it was Lai @ Tattoo Hawaii who I connected with most, so we scheduled an in-person consult and then our sessions, with 2 days left on our trip - only lost 1 beach day (it was a perfect one too). da Service: Every contact before our session was courteous and replied to promptly. I did have to be insistent on Lai doing our work, even if it meant spanning multiple days. His work on social media and Yelp! most connected with me. At our consult he explained how he would approach my design concept and adapt it to my wife and daughter. Lai was confident he could get us all done in one afternoon/evening session. The shop is tucked away on the 2nd floor of a little building on the corner of Kapiolani and Piikoi... parking is a challenge, so arrive early to wait out a spot. The shop is comfortable and can accommodate 3-4 artists working, with friends looking on in support. da Work: Kai was up 1st as hers would be the least complicated. She went with 3 petroglyph style honu, each about 3.5" diameter, ink'd fairly heavy - vertically on her upper arm, pretty classic design. She has several tattoos already and was surprised that Lai didn't work with a stencil... he simply free-handed the design with several pens, directly on your body. He's a very cool, confident cat, laid back and within minutes has you chatting it up like you went to high school together. I went next as my wife wanted to see how mine's worked out to help solidify her concept. Lai drew a honu/dragon/shark tooth design on my upper arm and I said "go for it". 2.5 hours later I was stunned at the fine details he added to the shark's teeth encircling the honu shell, as well as tribal accents in the honu, while incorporating the dragon profile. It really was satisfying to see my concept executed closely, while adding style and depth, bringing it to life. Carla was last up and really wanted to stick close to what I had done... just smaller and wanted the dragon to "pop" more. As you can see, Lai nailed it... however subtle, the dragon does appear more prominent on her piece. da Wrap: Really happy all-around, already thinking about how to add to it, maybe add color, grow it further down my arm, how to add to the story. It's a very personal thing and I really suggest you take your time to research and find the right artist. I'm confident that you'll find the right one at Tattoo Hawaii. We were there most of the day and saw several folks and artists' work, there was actually one guy there the whole time getting a large whole body piece worked on with a manual tattoo tool, that's an investment! HUGE shout out to Lai for making our sessions so enjoyable and comfortable... When he found out it was my and my wife's 1st work, he said he was honored to be 1st... such a humble guy, great disposition. We'll see you soon brother!

When you arrive remember to fill out the paperwork provided. This could probably be streamlined if it were made available online. Regardless, you can reach out to the shop via social media or even the shop's webpage too. We took multiple breaks on my last visit. What started out as a request for a pueo turned into a session to catch up since pre-pandemic and get back in the chair. Lai free handed the entire piece. I wanted a poly style piece with Lai's style and that's what I got. Very much appreciated for attention to detail. Reach out to the shop via social media and if you want specifics like cost and time, you better be specific about your request too. (i.e. size, color, design, etc). There are so many shops on Oahu and Tattoo Hawaii was the only one that gave me an accurate cost and time frame, not to mention some awesome conversation. Highly recommended and thoroughly enjoyed!

My daughter got a beautiful red flower (we knew red ink tends to fade faster), and I got a beach scene with palm trees. Both tattoos came out lovely, truly 5-star-worthy work. The reason for my 3-star review isn't about the artwork but the experience afterward. While my daughter was in the lobby, the staff were admiring her tattoo, which was nice to hear, but then the conversation turned to comments about how the red ink wouldn't last and other remarks that weren't so positive. We completely understand the nature of red ink and appreciate honesty, but it's not great to overhear that kind of discussion right after getting a tattoo. For many people, including us, tattoos often hold sentimental meaning, they represent moments, memories, and people close to our hearts, even if we don't always share that story out loud. So, a little extra sensitivity goes a long way. Overall, the artistry and quality of the work are top-notch, but I'd just recommend being mindful of conversations when clients are still around to hear them.

All of their jewelry was stored in plastic containers where the employees were just digging through, without gloves (SO unsanitary), to find the jewelry that the customers wanted. I wanted titanium flat backs because I'm allergic to sterling silver and I don't heal well if it is pierced with steel. The girl who pierced me looked through all the containers before finding 3 gold colored titanium flat backs with silver colored titanium ball toppers. The piercing process started out okay, she cleaned off the area, although not very thoroughly, and marked where she was going to pierce and let me see before she started the process. I don't think they sterilized the jewelry before they pierced me either, even though different, ungloved, employees were digging around in the jewelry boxes just before. She opened a new needle and started on my lobes, these were pretty smooth. The biggest issue came when she started on my mid helix. Told me take a deep breath and she pushed the needle through, then went to guide the jewelry in, but could only get it HALFWAY. I heard her whisper "oh shoot" under her breath before proceeding to try multiple times to push the jewelry all the way through. She asked the other guy, Jay, for help and they both stood there pushing my ear around for a solid 3 minutes before the jewelry was fully through. It was a while before the piercing was done, I could feel the blood on my ear slipping around while he essentially tried to repierce it with the jewelry. Neither of them used a clamp, or even a tube to catch the needle as it went through to the other side, just used their hands which I could feel were slipping off my ear. To top it all off, my mom told me after that they used the same needle for all three of my piercings, super unsanitary! I've gotten thick cartilage piercings done before this (rook, nostril, helix) and I have NEVER had an experience like this. I will not be coming back here, not even for my jewelry changes. The only good thing I would say about this experience was that the lady at the front was polite and friendly, and the girl who pierced me was also nice, I just wish the process of the actual piercing was a bit cleaner and smoother. I hope nobody else has an experience like this, and I hope my piercings don't get infected.

I had talked to him over the phone and required a deposit fee of $50 to hold our appointment date and part of the payment. We paid a total of $350 because mine was small and my boyfriend had a bigger one and he even got us big bottles of water to hydrate with. I was definitely happy with his tattoo. I liked the vibe inside. They played music and it was cool with ac inside. The parking however isn't all the great. I had to park in the back. It gets full fast. I highly recommend these guys.
