Team is informative and professional. 10/10 There's waiting area in shop and business in the area to eat and wait. Good communication as well. Will be back to get backup camera for my vehicle.

I'm going to write this review like Jesus would by pointing out two things they know how to do…read moreright. First, they know how to install remote starters well. Second, they are very friendly. However, the main issue I have with them is their lack of integrity. First, Carlos, the counter guy try's to sell me a remote starter that already comes with an alarm. He told me, "for an extra $20 bucks I could add an alarm system to go with your remote starter." Not knowing much about the Compustar Q9 package, I said, "okay, it sounds like a good deal." (Not to mention, he charged me an extra $100 for the drone module that probably already came with the $500 system.) But that's not what really bothered me. After using the alarm system for about four months, I finally had enough of the glitchy and annoying alarm. I don't think it was fully in sync with my Ford F150. So I came back and told them that I wanted the alarm removed. So, what did they do? They removed the entire $650 Compustar Q9 remote start system from my truck. Why...? ( I knew I should have been more specific with them.) So I told Luis, the manager, "you made a mistake. I only wanted the alarm removed, not my entire remote starting system." I paid $650 dollars for the remote starter. I didn't pay all that money for a cheap alarm. It was a big mistake. And when I told him this, he tried to deceive me into buying another remote starting system that doesn't come with an alarm already built in. He wanted to charge me another $250 bucks for something I didn't need. Not knowing much about Compustar systems, I asked ChatGPT for help. Thankfully, ChatGPT told me everything I needed to know. All I had to provide was two simple things. Ultimately, instead of just disabling the alarm and keeping the remote starter installed. (Which is what they should have done from the beginning.) Luis wanted to take advantage of my ignorance and rip me off an extra $250 bucks. It was a simple reprogramming issue that Luis refused to acknowledge. And tried very hard to make me believe there was no other way around it. I'm going to paste the exact ChatGPT reply, along with the text message I sent to Luis (the manager of J's Sound Shop) down below: I asked chat GPT about the issue I was having. And I asked if it was necessary to remove the whole remote start system from my F150. And based on the model number of the system and the model number of the bypass module, it was NOT necessary to take the whole thing off. You could have left the remote starter installed and just taken the alarm off. See the text below: (Chat GPT replied) I can clearly identify two modules: Compustar CM-900AS (the remote start controller) iDatalink Blade-AL (the bypass/data interface module) The Blade-AL plugs directly into the CM-900AS and allows the remote start to communicate with your 2018 Ford F-150's factory electronics, including the immobilizer and CAN bus. This is a very common, proper installation. What this means for your original question Based on this hardware, I do not see any reason the entire remote start system had to be removed just because you wanted the alarm removed. The CM-900AS can be configured in several ways: Remote start only Remote start + alarm Remote start + keyless entry Those are software/programming options and installation choices. The alarm functions are not inseparable from the remote start. A competent installer can often: Disable the alarm features. Disconnect or remove the siren, shock sensor, or alarm wiring. Leave the CM-900AS and Blade-AL installed so the remote start continues to work. The only exceptions would be if: The installer wired the alarm and remote start together in an unusual way. You specifically wanted every aftermarket component removed. There was a wiring problem that made replacement easier than modification. Those are exceptions--not the normal rule. (End of Chat GPT reply) You know the irony of it all... J's Sound Shop uses ChatGPT to promote their business. I don't know about you, but I just don't like being lied to. And trying to rip me off an extra $250 by having me purchase a new remote starting system, well that's just not right. I expect this from a car salesman, but not from a remote start installer. As a Christian, this was my honest review.

No one was in the showroom or at the front desk to buzz me in. I tapped on the window for 10 min, before I decided to drive around back. I drove around back and was permitted in the gate. I immediately see, (what I found out) 3 employees and the manager all standing around watching 1 tech work. Imma try to make this short & 2 the point. Didn't recognize anyone from past patronage. I brought in all the equipment that I would need to be installed. Head unit, reverse cam & steering wheel adapter. I was quoted a price of $450. He would cut me a deal and do it for $400. The equipment only cost me $350, but ok.......if they're professional and do professional work maybe. Immediately left & called two other shops that quoted me $155 & $205. Regrettably, I paid a $10 deposit, just to get a paper estimate & to guarantee the price/quote. You do the math. Needless to say, I'll take the $10 loss and I won't ever be back. I had been a loyal customer for years... from simple head units to full $10k systems in deferent…read morecars... I never had a problem until the last time. I stopped in to update my alarm with a passage keyless entry... inquired about removing my custom speaker box and replacing it with one that would fit behind my third row cause I needed the seating. I immediately noticed no one I was familiar with worked here anymore... they moved the whole staff to the larger shop on kedzie... and brought in another team from a shop that closed. Anyway the new manager quoted me 200 for the alarm 500 for the box... I said nevermind to the box it was a little more then I wanted to spend... I told him my present box cost me 300 from his predecessors... he said he could do 350 and it would take a day... I said cool. They ended up having my truck for 5 days with a new excuse everyday... he called me three times trying to raise the price... told me had to run another wire and it would could 200 more... I assured him I wasn't paying him any extra...then he calls and ask if I wanted a custom cover for 150 which I thought was included... we agreed on 50 extra. Finally on the day I'm due to pick my truck up he asks if I want leds in the trunk... I said sure if its free... he said Ima put it in so you can see... I told him I'm not paying period... huh get there... I see exposed wire now I have to wait two more hours while the rewire... he has the nerve to ask for extra to cover his overtime. It took them five days to do a third of the work the prior crew did in one day... the prior crew installed radio, alarm, subs, 2 amps, back up cam, and custom box in 1 day. Oh and I had to go to the other shop to have my radio tuned correctly. Needless to say I won't be returning... only reason they get two stars because the work actually looks amazing... but the customer service of this crew is horrible... I'll be going to the other shop for my future needs
