Edit 2: The owner has not only refused to provide the video but they've also threatened me by telling me they know where I live and that they'll sue me for my review (see attached image). I've never seen this level of unprofessionalism from a business owner. Also, I haven't purchased anything from this business so the only way they would have my information is if they went out of their way too look me up online which is frankly quite disturbing. Brought my Volvo in on Saturday to see if a remote start can be installed in my car. The guy said he had to check to see if my cars compatible so he pulled it into the back of the shop and brought it back like 5 minutes later said sorry he couldn't do it. No problem I said and left but as I'm driving I hear a weird thumping noise coming from the front of my car. i pull over and check and part of my bumper is loose. I pop the hood and all but 1 of the 6 fasteners are gone so front bumper was basically hanging on by a thread. Thankfully I noticed it before I got on the highway where I'm 99% certain my bumper would have fallen off and caused an accident. Also the rubber molding on the driver side was not properly pushed back in but that's not nearly as much of a concern. I do not recommend bringing your vehicle here at all but if you do remember to take pictures of EVERYTHING before they touch your car. read more

Brought my vehicle for a consultation on replacing the garbage Blaupunkt that was previously installed. Told Cal that I just wanted an entry level double din that has Apple CarPlay. He advised me that they had a Boss Elite BE7ACP in stock. I shared my opinion that I felt Boss was Wal-Mart junk, and Cal told me it had a 2 year warranty and that their quality has improved with the Elite series. I spent a few minutes researching others' opinions online, and they were mixed. Some people said that they'd had this model for years with no issues. Others reported issues with it powering down unexpectedly. I am aware that some issues can be the result of a poor install. A loose ground, a bad connection, etc. all will cause issues. Since this is an older car that I rarely drive, more of a back-up car, I rolled the dice. This model only has wired CarPlay which Cal was upfront about, but I don't care. I plug my phone in to charge when I get in anyway, I don't understand the people who will spend $200 more for wireless but that's their prerogative. He was also honest about the couple of Sony units he had in stock, and while there wasn't a great variety on display that's common in smaller shops. They just don't have the room for 20 units on display, although I think they could squeeze in a few more. The unit they sold me was $50 more than it sells for ($200) on Amazon, and I know small businesses use product mark-up to help with their small profit margins. I didn't complain, but if they will install equipment that you buy yourself, that may be another option to save money. An important note: I had been to another install shop in Mokena, they wanted thousands of dollars (literally) to replace the head unit and speakers, stating that they couldn't use my factory Bose amp that drives the 7 speakers my car came with in 2007. They had all sorts of stories about why it made sense to spend $4k to replace a head unit, amp, and speakers in a car whose blue-book value is $1,800. Cal listened to my speakers and explained that the front right tweeter was blown and that he could replace the tweeters and door speakers because they are a component system with some decent Kenwood or Alpine options for about $400 - which I will take him up on. He can integrate them with my Bose amp with no issues. I just need my sound to not to "buzz", I'm not entering car stereo competitions - and he's taking care of that. Cal had a cancellation on the upcoming Saturday and squeezed me in. By the afternoon the work was done and everything works great. It's true that they have only 1 garage, and Cal was the only one there both times I went. I know that presents challenges when he has to leave working on a car to come to the counter for a walk-in. But I wasn't ignored and didn't wait at all. He was attentive and patient and explained everything well. So far the Boss head unit works well and there are no issues. I will update the review if things go south. But most importantly, people should know that my experience with the one employee I dealt with at Automotive Concepts (Cal) was honest, offered options instead of trying to scam me, and executed a solid install. I would trust someone who does this for a career before I bring it to some Best Buy hack who will be working elsewhere in 6 months. read more

i stopped in the automotive concepts 1/16/2025 after explaining to the dude at the counter that my aftermarket radio not installed by them never had steering wheel voice control after installed and i want a radio that does. after going round and round i asked do you have a radio and adapter that does. he says i dont know i have to pull it out and look at your adapter. does he know what the products he sells functions? After doing some research on heated side mirrors and whom could install, I attempted to reach out to a couple of shops within the city to no avail (they would not even respond to a request of quote). I called the shop and spoke I think to Mike (REALLY nice and knowledgeable guy). I came in on a weekend, we ordered the parts, told me it would take a couple of weeks as they are custom, I put a deposit down & left excited as I have been driving my newly purchased FJ Cruiser, into the winter months really missing the heated mirror feature that was stock on my previous vehicle. Got a call while at work, stopped by first in the morning the next day for the install. I didn't realize it would that almost 1/2 a day (roughly 4 hours) to install. That was ma badd. I waited, moved around, got something to eat, etc,. It's ready, we check out everything, I pay the final. OF COURSE now the freakin' weather got better, but it's cool. I will be ready for the next! Now, I'm looking forward to install of a front camera and powered subwoofer. These guys are A+++ Especially, if you don't have the time to do it yourself. These guys have always treated me very well and service has been prompt, friendly, and informative. On two separate occasions, they were even able to take me in hours earlier than my scheduled appointment upon my same day request. Buyer beware. Spent over four thousand dollars at this establishment on my Vanderhall Carmel getting wheel lights,upgraded sound system,alarm and a USB port along with wood grain accents installed. I usually don't post reviews but I am not happy. I have cargo doors that cost me $600 that now will not fit because of placement of subwoofers among other things that went wrong. They have put me off for months and not returned my calls and make excuses when I stop by the shop to inquire. Gave them time and patience and now I am done. Hopefully if you use them it goes better for you but I will not recommend them to anyone. Knowledgeable employees Cons: Slow service, waiting time can be hours only 1 garage (entire staff works on 1 car) Once you buy, customer service declines heavily, no support Decent place to browse, but please do your research and find a place with better customer service. Got a navi hooked up and was told one feature during installation and a whole different story afterwords (buying extra accessories). Now I am not able to update the navi without coming out to the shop and paying $40 per update. Problem could of been avoided if Joe had informed of the piece needed for updates (*vital information). Gave me the choice of either a re-installation of the piece in which I should have gotten at first, but didn't because he insisted it could be changed easily later on. When reality was they just didn't have the cable in stock. Or $40 every update...right. Advice: Find others who have the resources to support before and after a purchase. read more

Brought in my 2013 Nissan to have a new head unit upgrade i had purchased installed along with front and back Hertz speakers and an amplifier I purchased from Automotive Concepts installed, first of all, I would like to thank the guy for installing my parts I purchased elsewhere some places won't do this at all after further inspection of the install, Automotive Concepts did a great job installing all of my new equipment very clean install and i honestly couldn't be happier with the sound of the system I recently had radiation therapy for cancer treatment and lost some of my hearing from the radiation and my old stereo had an aftermarket head unit with the stock speakers I just wasn't able to hear it good unless I had it turned nearly all the way up and it didn't sound too good now with the Hertz speakers recommended by Automotive Concepts my music is crystal clear the quality of these speakers amazing. I look forward to having my alarm, subwoofers and a few other things installed by Automotive Concepts in the near future and I will definitely recommend them to any friend or family member looking for high-quality car audio equipment and a competent installer with reasonable prices. read more

Very disappointed! After having my auto starter installed, I ended up with a signalling problem which is now needed an auto electrical expert to resolve. Took my car to them a year and a half ago to upgrade my stock system for mp3 compatibility. Best Buy wanted a small fortune that required a full system replacement. Automotive Concepts installed a simple direct connect system that was a basic audio jack and the price was about $450 cheaper. Service was great and they were done with it in a half hour. I went back today because my radio was giving me trouble. The consultant remembered me and my car and fixed my issue in minutes. I have nothing but good things to say about these guys. read more

Terrible Service. I went to get my radio looked at, was charged $50 for them to look at it for 5 minutes and tell me it was "broken" and needed to be replaced. I was quoted $350 to get a new radio. I went to my neighborhood mechanic and was told I had a blown fuse. It took $1.50 to replace and my radio works fine. So upset I gave them $50 for 5 minutes of bad service. read more

If I could give it 0 stars, I would...we called them to install a remote start in our car. The worker told us it was in stock and we could bring in our car right away. The second we mentioned we had a groupon, he put us on hold and told us he did NOT have it in stock and that since our groupon was expired, we could NOT use it all. I calkled and spoke with Joe who asked to me stop by and let him look at it. Quite possibly the worst experience I've had with anything auto related -- and this includes shoddy repair work & unethical car salesmen. After doing some price comparisons on remote starts, I decided to go with Automotive Concepts. Worse decision I've ever made. Not only did the price change after the starter was installed (and it would of course cost me more money to have it removed and I'd still have to pay for the unit on top of it), I've had nothing but problems with my car or the remote. The remote itself rarely works properly and my dash gauges are also screwed up. One morning, I went out to my car and after the remote failed to start my car (which is housed in a garage so no moisture or extreme cold issues can be blamed), the radio stayed on. Had I not gone out to my car when I did, my battery would've drained. I've called Automotive Concepts to get my car back in to them to fix these issues but can never get them to return my calls. Fast food/ restaurants etc seem to have such horrible service. I was afraid I'd suffer the same sad experience with everything. I was on the market for some new speakers and had done a little research. I ultimately wanted to find a place that was convenient and open on Saturday. I truly got lucky, stumbling into Automotive Concepts. Sam and his team were informative and courteous. They helped me figure out exactly what I needed for my specific situation, gave me a high-to-low range of costs and got the job done quickly, with great results. There was one minor hickup in the process but I felt that Sam handled the situation professionally and tactfully, which impressed me.
