Slice above has many great pizzas that are unique and delicious! Unfortunately, the greatest of them all, The Motherload, has seen better days. Its comparable to a deluxe or supreme pizza. This pizza used to be without peer! It was truly the MOTHERLOAD! However, the current version is just better than Doninoes or Papa Johns but not without equal. Years ago, this pizza was very heavy with toppings of every sort. We used to order it with spicy sauce and sit on a summer night eating it and sweating our *sses off! It had so many toppings it was super filling and we could rarely finish it in one sitting. Then, it began to get inconsistent, frequently missing this or that topping and maybe more than one. As time went by it became what it is today, consistent, with fewer toppings and definitely not the heavy weight it once was. The price has remaned pretty much the same. The glory days of the MOTHERLOAD are long gone! Now its just another deluxe. Better than some. If the owner reads this he should, restore the Motherload to its former Glory and charge more if necessary! He says nothing has changed, but I used to pay for these, so I know it has. We still frequent Slice above, their pizzas are generally good but the MOTHERLOAD name should be retired, because it no longer is! Call it maybe the 1/2 load or something. I ordered a simple Margherita pizza, which is straight off their menu. There's straight up no sauce on it, the tomatoes were rancid, and other than the twang from the tomatoes, it was flavorless. I would call to get my money back, but judging by these reviews, it seems the owner won't take/return calls anyway. First let me say that I live in Westlake and took the 30 minute drive to Strongsville to pick it up, that's how much of a fan I am of A Slice Above. I grew up in Strongsville and have heard from friends that this is THE SPOT for Pizza in Strongsville. Luckily when I started dating my girlfriend a year ago, she was living in an apartment down the street and I finally got to try it. The restaurant is a small pizza shop on Pearl Road attached to the Office Bar (where I have never been before) and the parking lot is small and cramped as is the restaurants lobby. It seriously looks no different than any other small business shop but this place means business. There are so many different combinations but we like to stick to the normal or what I thought was normal. I traveled there last Friday night to pick up a medium "Death by Pepperoni" pizza, a dozen garlic wings & a 2 liter of coke. I was quoted a 30 minute wait for pick up and it was ready when I arrived. After making it home, it was literally pure bliss. The pizza itself is wonderful. A great traditional sauce, a little more than normal cheese and lots of pepperoni and FULL slices of BACON make this pizza awesome in every bite. Did I mention the crispy and chewy crust?...Outstanding. The garlic wings are really the star of the show, my girlfriend swears that they are her absolute favorite wings. They are large, meaty and drenched in garlic butter. It's a fat kid's dream. Stop what you're doing now and get pizza and the wings from here. The slice above is a relatively hidden takeout pizza joint in the Strongsville area. Overall, their pizza is decent and they are relatively quick. It is a bit on the pricey side though. However, they have a list of specialty pizzas that I would rate a little higher (like a 4). They have a list of unique pizzas and combinations that makes it worth a trip just to taste the funky combinations. An example is the Twister, which is pretzel, soft pretzel, and nacho cheese (picture below). This is one of my favorite pizzas in Cleveland just because it is out of the ordinary. Worth ordering if you're into going against the grain, but not ideal for your typical cheese or pepperoni pickup. read more

So yesterday I ordered 12 hot wings, celery with ranch dressing. Once I got home I realized they forgot the celery. The wings had no sauce on them and looked dry. So I called the store. I explained what happened, and the employee who refused to give me there name just kept taking me in circles and gave me a big attitude. I then asked to speak to a manager "Don" He was the same way, and refused to correct the problem. They never offered to give me the celery that I ordered, and seemed to careless about what happened. Also on a side note, this place has had multiple health code violations, including employees coughing and sneezing, and not washing there hands. Another violation having raw chicken sit out on the counter to thaw. Broken floor tiles, holes in the wall, dirty coolers. Should I go on? This all can be found on the board of health's website. That's all disgusting. This will be the last time I go to this place, there customer service sucks. I will made sure friends and family don't go here. read more

Stopped here on the way home (Lorain County). Ordered Death by Pepperoni and a white (Bianca) Pizza, along with a Slice Over (personal sized calzone). All were very good! The crust on the pizzas had a great doughy crunch to them. The Bianco Pizza was my favorite: just the right amount of garlic butter and cheeses. Ladies and gentlemen this is the best pizza in the state of Ohio. Arguably the best around ! Prices are great and the pizza is out of this world. The dough is always baked just right, The cheese is amazing and always has the cheesy pull, Pack in a flavor that will make your head spin! The slice over is another great thing too! I'm not really feeling the other Yelpers on this one. I'll comment on the food quality first and then talk about customer service. We ordered a pie for delivery to our hotel room, and chose their signature crust, because, when in Rome, right? We both found the crust to be somewhat thick, but not chewy or interesting texturally. Both the sauce and crust were bland, and the whole thing could have used more salt, something you won't usually hear me complaining about. I would characterize this pizza as Dominos level pie, and would not order it again based on the mediocrity of the food. When I called for delivery I was quoted 45 minutes to an hour. After an hour and 15 minutes had passed, I called and got the same guy who had taken my order to ask where our food was. He was not helpful or even properly trained to handle this simple exchange, but assured me, apropos of nothing at all, that my food would be there shortly. After another 20 minutes I called again to let him know I was really not happy and was wondering what they would do for me. I also suggested that perhaps he should call the driver to find out what was taking so long, something he was not well trained enough to come up with on his own, and unwilling to do once I brought it up. Again, not capable of handling a simple customer complaint. Then he carried on a conversation with someone in the background, explaining everything but getting nowhere. During this whole thing, the delivery guy showed up with the pie, and, since I couldn't get the attention of the person I was on the phone with (he was still talking to someone more capable perhaps? We'll never know), just hung up. No one called me back to check on how everything was or offer me anything at all. Abysmally bad customer service and bad pizza. Buh bye. read more

This is, by far, the BEST pizza I have EVER tried, and that includes while I was in Chicago, New York City, San Francisco, and even ITALY. The crust is the perfect blend of chewy on the inside and crusty on the outside. The tomato sauce has just the right amount of herbs and seasoning so that it complements the toppings and cheeses. Their specialty pizzas are also AMAZING (our favorite is the "Where's the Beef?", but we also have a fondness for "Honey Bee", but you really can't go wrong with any of them). I especially like the friendly atmosphere--seriously, EVERY, SINGLE person who works there is always friendly and upbeat, and they remember their customers.
