I am so impressed with this children's dentist office. Dr. Daniella Vasquez is our normal dentist with my two little ones. She is amazing! She is wonderful with the children and has a kind and general manner. So fantastic!! My son has been calm and willing to do the appointment; however, my daughter has been terrified since she started going at the age of 3. They all have been so patient and kind to both her and me. Of course, her last appointment was calmer since she is getting used to going and they were amazing. I have worked the the other dentist on a few occasions, Dr. Logan Mariano. He is professional, expedient and gentle- just like Dr. Vasquez. The dental hygienists that worked with my children have the utmost professionalism and kindness as well. We have always had a great experience. They let me know what areas to work on in an uplifting and helpful manner. I recommend this dentist office to ANY parent! This was a friend referral. We have been coming for several years and my daughter gets very nervous and they are always patient with her and she has more plaque build up than most(a genetic issue she inherited from me) so despite twice a day brushing and flossing she needs a good teeth cleaning every 6 months and they are always gentle and kind wth her. On the two occasions she had a cavity and I did no want general anesthesia and they were respectful of the first time was jus a shot of Novocain that they did so quickly after her mouth was numb she had no idea what happened and the second time the cavity was so small they asked if they could try it without anything and again they worked so quickly my daughter barely knew what was happening and was done minutes later without being numb and able to enjoy the rest of the day. read more

We starting bringing our son to A Small World dentistry when he turned 2. In the beginning, we had a perfectly pleasant experience. The dentists were kind to the kids, made them feel comfortable, and walked the parents through what they should expect. At 2 1/2, our little guy broke a tooth, and had to have the rest removed - yuck! He was a trooper though the whole experience, and they took care of the problem quickly. In the past year, we have been disappointed on a few occasions. We have tried to email them with a question - no response. We later were told that their email address listed on their website doesn't work. Perhaps they should remove it? My husband left a message on a Friday morning that wasn't returned until Monday afternoon - they told him they "forgot to check them". Hmmm. Then, at my boy's 3.5yr check up, they discovered his first cavity (gasp!). Their treatment plan was to put him under GENERAL ANESTHESIA - which isn't covered by insurance - in order to fill it. Seriously?! For a cavity?! I understand that certain children and/or circumstances require such treatment... however, we have a super-compliant child who has no problem at the dentist. The risks of anesthesia completely outweigh the supposed benefits. Since that was the only option given, we were happy to take our business elsewhere. His cavity was filled last week at Phoenix Pediatric Dental - he didn't even need to be numbed and was done within a half-hour - phew! All-in-all, if you are just in need of check-ups, this place is just fine and dandy. But if they insist on over-the-top treatment plans, please get a second opinion! read more

We were just in Scottsdale for Giants Spring Training and my daughter chipped her tooth (like most 6 yr olds, she's a hazard to herself) while playing in our friends backyard on the day of the ball game. Our friends in Scottsdale told us to go to A Small World as that is where their daughter has been going to for the past three years. This really saved us a ton of time and stress as I didn't want to wait till I got back to the Bay Area to see if she needed surgery. We were able to get specific advice and most importantly, peace of mind to relax for the rest of our time on our vacation. Major stress relief! read more

BEWARE of aggressive treatment plans - get a 2nd opinion. Our kids saw Dr. Razuri for their regular 6 month check-ups and we were stunned at her recommendations: several crowns, extractions and space maintainers. Additionally, IV sedation ($$$) was strongly recommended over oral sedation for our cooperative 4 year old. Due to changes in our insurance plan our children have seen several pediatric dentists in the North Phoenix/Scottsdale area over the years, so we have experienced a variety of treatment approaches, but never anything this aggressive. Thank goodness we consulted 2 other dentists - they both agreed that 90% of Dr. Razuri's extensive treatment plan was unnecessary - all that was needed were a few fillings! So not only were our children spared unnecessary discomfort while she worked on their healthy teeth, but we were saved several thousand dollars out-of-pocket since her plan would have far surpassed our annual insurance benefits. The thing that I find most unsettling about this experience is that, had this been our children's first visit to the dentist, we likely would have trusted her. read more

My kids 14 & 11 have been going to Small World Pediatric Dentistry since they were 2 years old. Dr. Vasquez is a wonderful dentist. From the moment you meet her, you will understand. They are amazing with kids. I was so happy how comfortable they make the kids feel when they are young. They speak to every child on a level they understand and let them know exactly what they are doing so your child does not get nervous or scared (we are going to count your teeth, we are going to shine your teeth or make them sparkle). Every seat has a place for the parent to sit & a video for the kids to watch. I really wish I would have had this experience when I was little. I can't say enough about how wonderful this office is. Our daughter had a large cavity so my wife brought her in. She got a teeth cleaning, fluoride treatment, and poor quality X-rays. They neglected to fill the cavity which was the reason for the appointment! I took her to a different dentist who couldn't believe Small World did not fix her cavity. We have been using A Small World dentist since our daughters started going to the dentist (over 5 years now). I do like the dentist and they work nicely with kids. Unfortunately, their customer service has really gone down hill. Over the last several years I have noticed that I have to wait longer and longer for our appointments. At first we simply had to wait a few minutes past our appointment time, but over the years we have had to wait a 1/2 hour or more after our appointment time before we were seen. Since they can do a cleaning in a matter of 15 - 20 minutes I can't understand why we have to wait so long. This last time we had waited 35 minutes and still had not been called back. Because I had another appointment that I had to get to, I asked how much longer it would be, about 5 minutes later we were finally seen. They very quickly cleaned and check the girls teeth, which was great but then they wanted to take x-rays. REALLLY! If we had gotten in closer to our appointment time this would have been possible, but because they are ALWAYS running late we have not had the time to stay and get x-rays taken the last two appointment we have had. There is really nothing more frustrating to me when a medical office cannot manage their time and have some respect for their customers valuable time. I show up on time and expect the same courtesy from them. We will be switching dentist because I simple feel like they do not value my time. read more
