My kids cried during their first trip to the dentist... and now they get excited to go! We've been going to Dr Guymon and team for my kids' whole lives and we've never been disappointed. The newly expanded office and team are just as great as before. I love entering the whimsical forest and seeing the woodland creatures. We try to go early so that the kids can get game time on the ipads. Their "dentist shirt" is the one item of clothing that they never lose because they get so excited to get a 2nd token for prizes. My 3 year old has been to the dentist for cleanings multiple times already, but this was definitely the smoothest experience! She started off fearful and crying but they quickly got her calmed down and cooperating with the hygeinist. They were very gentle and patient, I was so happy with how easy the experience was for everyone. Dr Guymon took us on as a second opinion and was so much more conservative with procedures that he saved us from getting crowns as well as fillings preemptively before my 5 year old probably needed them. Wowwwww - what an awesome dental office for kids!!! I booked my daughter's first dentist appointment here because of the amazing reviews and when we opened the door, my daughter smiled and laughed because she thought it was a playground! The decor with the wood floors and little play area with grass, books and toys is every baby/toddler's wonderland. All my daughter wanted to do was play and crawl but we were called back to one of the dental chair rooms to answer a few questions. All the employees were so sweet and the assistant noticed that all my daughter wanted to do was play so she brought in a few toys and books for her to play with in the dental chair room. Of course, the little one cried when the dentist came to check her teeth, but even the dentist was super patient and sweet. My daughter started crying because she wanted him to pick her up and he picked her up and held her. I didn't feel rushed and he wanted to make sure all my questions were answered. It was a great first dentist experience. When we checked out, they give your child a small toy to go home with. What kid would be scared of going to the dentist after this?! Man, I remember I hated going to the dentist when I was little. I would run away from home just because I was so scared. I cannot put into words my gratitude for Dr. Guymon and his team. My toddler fell and broke his tooth on a Sunday afternoon. I'm talking half the tooth missing and the other half hanging out. I called him and he met me within the hour to assess and extract the tooth. He explained everything he was doing and made the procedure as comfortable as possible for my son and the parents. Tatum Pediatric Dentistry is an amazing pediatric dental practice! Dr. Guymon and all the staff there are friendly, professional, kind and very calm which is important for nervous little people! My daughter was apprehensive about the whole experience as she needed quite a bit of work done. Dr. Guymon came up with a plan and explained the whole procedure thoroughly and before we knew it she was done with everything and she was super happy with the outcome! My daughter asked me at the height of her nervousness how I could be sure no one would make a mistake .... I explained that they had an awesome 5 star review on Yelp and I had heard great things so that was a very good sign she was in capable, caring hands. When she started waking up from the anesthesia one of the first things she said was "is my tooth gone!?" ... I said "yes!" ... she replied "wow! I didn't feel a thing! I want to give them 5 stars!!" ... then she added "wait why can I only give them 5 stars? ... I want to give them 10 stars!!" So technically this is a 10 star review!!! My daughter also said "I like this dentist a lot I want to keep him as my dentist!" Also we can't forget to give Dr. Stoker the anesthesiologist 10 stars too as my daughter thought he was amazing as well. First time she had ever had her doctor carry her to her car. So far we are loving it here. Great staff, everyone is super friendly and helpful. They have a very cute little play area for the kids in the reception area as well as iPads. The office is nice and clean. The first visit we had my daughter definitely didn't want to be there (but that is to be expected) but Dr. Guymon was still able to clean her teeth through the crying. We have been back since and no crying, she did great! The previous dentist we had didn't even check her teeth because she was crying just said ok looks good see you in 6 months.... Not ok! WORST customer service EVER. I brought my foster children in to be seen for exams - having given the office their insurance information at 9am and again via ppw by 10:30am. We showed up for our scheduled appt at 4:30pm. The STAFF didn't verify benefits until AFTER I arrived for their appointments. They said our newest placement's benefits were apparently not activated yet and they wouldn't see her - though coverage is listed ON THE FORM I GAVE THEM! The front office woman didn't do her job until after we arrived and we were SENT AWAY because SHE CALLED THE WRONG AGENCY TO VERIFY INSURANCE COVERAGE! Foster children are insured by through a specialized program called CMDP... these people were calling AHCCCS. I kept telling them that insurance coverage isn't through AHCCCS. This could have been avoided if the woman chose to do her job and verify benefits before we arrived - we could have gone through all of this and I could have had the agency call them before our arrival. The FORM i gave them AT THE OFFICE had the verification phone number right on it but she refused to call THAT number. I kept telling them that they were calling the wrong agency and that the form says that if they are in contract with said agency (which they were) they MUST accept the form as proof of coverage. They didn't. They refused to listen to me, acted as though I had no idea what I was talking about... They said I had the option of paying out of pocket which was completely unacceptable... And then we were asked to leave. The woman was incompetent and RUDE! DO NOT GO HERE! You will receive better treatment and service somewhere else. DO NOT GO HERE - I can't stress that enough. The office staff can make or break the practice - and this woman is reason enough to AVOID it and seek treatment elsewhere. I have no idea whether or not the dentist is good because I couldn't get past the HORRIFIC office staff. I know for a FACT the insurance agency called them the next day to talk about what took place with us. She had to "re-educate" them on policy which included HOW TO VERIFY COVERAGE. I am beside myself on how rude these people were, and they have yet to call and apologize for how they treated us and for sending us away. The woman who was "verifying" benefits should be FIRED! If for nothing more than refusing to call the number to verify benefits that was listed on the form - just like you would call the number on the back of an insurance card to verify benefits. I used to do that job and I can't believe how someone could be so unable to do what they were hired to do. Literally, it was ON THE FORM I GAVE HER and she still couldn't figure it out. Not to mention, it SHOULD have been done BEFORE we arrived for our appointment. And then to have realized you were wrong but NOT MAKE IT RIGHT is inexcusable. I was going to drop it but they replied to me on google trying to make it look like my child didn't have the coverage THEY KNEW she had, especially after talking with the CMDP representative. LOW! Amazing first time experience with our 14 month old son. The lady at the front desk was super welcoming & kind. We arrived 20 minutes early to our appointment we had to wait about 5 minutes to go in. The dental assistant was very friendly pointed out all the rooms they had by this time my son was already crying he was scared. We get to the room and my son doesn't stop crying the dental assistant I wished u removed her name. She kept her cool and tried to make my son comfortable and gave him a tooth brush and kept giving him stuff to stop the crying it didn't work. But she did her best and was so patient and informed us the procedure asked if we had questions. Then the dentist came did the procedure gave us options on how to hold baby so he would be comfortable informed us everything he was doing. Overall we are so happy we found them we will be coming back. We felt welcomed and they actually care for kids and have patience which is a huge plus! read more

Yesterday was our first visit to Tatum pediatric. It was my daughters first dental appointment. Dr. Guymon and his staff were fantastic with her. The office is very welcoming and friendly. Dr. Guymon and his staff interacted with the both of us to make us feel more comfortable. He and his staff are very caring. Everything from making an appointment to checking out was seamless. When you enter the office the kids have a tree house area with books. Their are some mounted ipads on the wall with seats for the kids. They contain plenty of applications / games to entertain the kids. My daughter loved it and it was hard to get her to leave! At the conclusion of the visit the child is given a token which they redeem for a prize. Our visit ran very efficiently from check in to check out. This office is the best! First of all, they let me book both my kids' appointments at the same time (ages 5 and almost 2) which is SO convenient. My son was a little nervous, but his little nerves were assuaged as soon as we walked into the sweet and friendly front office. Both my kids went running for the giant playhouse and then to the iPad station nearby. The whole office is immaculate and so cute. Since it was our first visit, we were given a tour of the office before their checkups. Once my son laid on the exam bed, they turned a movie on for him on the ceiling to watch during his cleaning. He loved it! Dr. Guymon came in afterwards and explained that my son would need some work done (I knew that coming into the office) and made sure I understood each procedure and gave me options for my son's care. His approach is very much about working together towards a solution, which I love. My almost 2 year old daughter also got a cleaning, which I was dreading. She's a runner and a feisty redhead, but she actually did great! Dr. Guymon was quick and taught me the best to brush her teeth, which we are starting right away.
