Vince and his guys; Bryan, Luis, Franklin and Giovany are absolutely amazing. Vince is super responsive when it comes to random ideas and changes and is great at giving input in regard to his professional opinion. He informed us that the paint and sheen would not be ideal for toddlers as well as the flexibility to changing the color half way through the job. Although the job took longer than expected, the work was meticulously done and the boys were so friendly and professional. In addition he was able to have a great drywall professional come and patch some very large holes in the wall, and quote out a basement project. He even had some flooring recommendations, (yup, this was a gut project). They are more than just paint, they are pretty much full service. I would definitely recommend them if you like a job done right. read more

Contacted Vince years ago for an estimate but went with another company. I went back to him about a month ago because I remembered his estimate. He painted almost my whole house, inside and out. Gel stained my stair railings, and just finished staining my pergola. Glad I held on to that old estimate and kept someone who ended up being a big piece of our home renovation. vince is so nice but they did such a bad job on the paint of the house! there are still so many paint chips from the prep around the house that it will be a year before I get them all picked up randomly. They didnt cover so many little areas so you can see the original brick trough the paint and worse is they were supposed to paint the metal a black color and did it the same color as the house and then charged me $2500 extra to do it the correct color. Here's why we will not recommend Vince or A State of Paint. 1. Poor / No communication and Poor scheduling -The owner did not communicate scheduling or the next steps after payment. After not hearing from anyone for ten days, we contacted the owner. The painters do not notify the customer they are on their property, which could be a liability. They left our gate and garage open, which could've caused theft. When I mentioned it to the owner, he replied that we should've mentioned in the beginning that we wanted to be made aware of them entering our property. (See attached for details on this) 2. No clear expectation of what was needed from us, the client, vs. what his company would provide. For example, the use of extension cords for power washing, the use of our water, and the use of our trash bin. We could not use our bin because all the painting material was in our trash bin. Therefore, we had to hold off on emptying our trash as we are not allowed multiple bags on trash day per HOA, or we would have to pay. 3. The work listed in the estimate was not the job done. The power washing was done at a minimum, but there was no sanding, scraping, or removal of chipped paint on the home built in 2007. Several areas of our house were not painted in the original color. Paint drips on the window that was not cleaned. Once we notified Vince of the unfinished job, he sent his painters back out to complete the job. Unlike his other clients, Vince did not want to come to inspect the work. 4. The service provider demonstrated a clear lack of respect for our property, resulting in damage. Our spigot was broken, and our foliage was stained with paint, causing the plants to die. This disregard for our property is clearly visible in the attached visuals. 5. Trash was left on our property for us to clean/remove. One bucket and seven paint cans, all empty, were left; empty water bottles were left in our yard, and leftover tape was left in our plants. When we told the owner, Vince, he agreed to come and retrieve the empty paint for proper disposal but has not shown up. We had to take the empty paint bucket and cans to Sherwin Williams to dispose of them properly. When we contacted Vince about the broken spigot and empty paint cans, his response to our concerns was disappointing. He stated that he has painted hundreds of homes and has never experienced this. No inspections were done, no walkthrough, and minimal communication was done as he did with all the other clients. After reading the reviews, I wonder if Vince and the company treat specific clients differently. This lack of accountability was disheartening. During the last three months, we have had several contractors out to work on our home, and working with them has been a pleasure. We have given excellent reviews. They respect and value our time, money, and property. I can unequivocally say Vince and State of Paint are not one of them. read more

We worked with Vince to paint two homes, repair the trim on one home that was damaged, and repair a drywall hole within the house. He was responsive and his team of painters was excellent. "CAUTION".... BE SURE TO READ THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS not just the positive ones. Everything was great until I got the "estimate" I was surprised that while I requested a quote for work on two rooms, what I received was an estimate that was inaccurate in square footage of ceiling to be redone and linear feet of baseboard to be replaced. This made the estimate low, but left me open to "...surprise the job is significantly higher in cost". When I requested a firm quote with correct job description along with waiver of the 50% upfront the response was that they take on all the risk and I should go elsewhere. I guess they've found a lot of dishonest homeowners. By the way, the estimate didn't include materials which I committed to purchase when I made the request to provide a firm quote. I would have considered a deposit of the estimated materials if I didn't provide them. 50% upfront on primarily labor job locks the customer into all the risk for the contractor not showing up or not doing the job correctly. The contractor can always file a Lein to get their money if they do the work correctly. I do agree that I should go elsewhere and I have. They missed out on this and follow on business. read more

Don't hire this company. Vince does work on the fast and cheap and leaves you with a mess. 1. Communication is poor. At the consult he did not take notes as a result, many items were missed or misunderstood. A color was supposed to be on an additional wall that was not, things were supposed to be removed that were not. He stated areas that had poor stuccoing, would be smoothed out. None of that happened because his crew didn't know to do it. 2.He does not know or care when primer is required as a "professional" painter. I had a dark gold that was being changed to a lighter gold. He told me priming it was not necessary. Everyone in the industry will tell you it is. When the new lighter paint was applied the new gold paint it was a totally muted, lighter and a completely different color. Prior to the crew arriving, I did a primer test where I applied the new gold paint on white and then directly on the old gold wall. The difference in color was undeniable! When I showed Vince, he told me I had to pay 1100 more since I am insisting on primer when he says NO. He refused to come see it and I had to send photos. AS A CHEAP POWER PLAY, he sent the crew to another job for that day despite doors hanging in my garage and trim needing to be painted everywhere. He said there was no work for them since we were discussing the paint issue. Day 4 and they are still prepping, and doing doors and trim. This job was supposed to be done in 4 days. 3.He hires subcontractors and is totally hands off. He is never here on the job site which is why there are so many communication issues. Also, if he were here, the crew would have been structured. They had no idea on what to do first, second and third. Five days into this, there is not one room completed so items are everywhere. 4.The quality was not great. The lines were not straight from the wall to the ceiling. There are clusters of long lines of drip that was not rolled well. They dripped paint on furniture, floor, hardware and handrails and were extremely slow. My garage has paint smears and drops everywhere. They also don;t put furniture back. Finished on day 8 instead of day 4. 5.Now he is threating a lien on my house. We argued about the amount that should be paid due to adding primer. At first he said he would comp it. I wanted to be fair and pay something. Then he said 715 and then went up to 1,000. I should have had a credit for the paint he bought because it was the wrong color. I thought 500 would have been fair. Now he is threating to put a lien on my house and foreclose me. Now he is sending invoices with loan shark interest rates and says he will do it daily. CHOOSE ANOTHER COMPANY- He is lying in his response. I only have 17 doors and the quote was for 17 and he has threatened me with a lien as of yesterday and sent me a new invoice for 1500 with threats of it increasing. read more

I just bought a home that needs full interior and exterior painting. I told him my window of availability and he suggested a time outside of that window. So I politely said that I wasn't free then but could try to move a meeting to accommodate. He realized he read the email wrong and suggested a new time in the window. Two days later, at our scheduled time, Vince didn't show up. When I called he apologized and said that they are SO busy that he forgot to move the appointment in his calendar. I needed some bedrooms and a bathroom painted, Vince was able to come give an estimate within a week of my inquiry. After accepting the estimate (which was very reasonable for removing some chair rail, drywall repair, prime and paint of walls and ceilings) work started the following Monday. The drywall team did an amazing job covering up where the chair rail was, and it was difficult to get off (tried it myself in one bedroom and swore off it for the others!). Definitely can echo the previous comments about Asher's attention to detail, all four rooms have been meticulously pained in just a few days. He was able to finish our master with vaulted ceilings in one day! He even painted behind the toilet in the bathroom, not sure if he is a wizard or what but I'm so happy with the job. A state of paint painted our entire first and second floor when we bought a new home. The paint job was good. Where it went wrong was clean-up and customer service. I came by late Friday afternoon and the crew was finishing up. You could tell they were rushing to get out. I understand, it's the weekend. But when the workmen were gone and the job was "finished" I was left with a wreck. There were screws and debris ALL over the place, paint drops on my counters and floors, and my white sink was stained with paint - workmen used it to clean their brushes but they never cleaned the sink. I called the owner to tell him that I didn't feel the job was completed because clean-up is part of it. I told him I thought I deserved some money back for an incomplete job and included pictures of the mess left in my home. He fought with me back and forth, wrote me condescending responses, and I have never received any type of refund for the clean-up work they didn't complete. I wouldn't recommend them. Other painters can do the same job and with much better care for their customer. read more

Look, we all want to give good reviews. When our friends and family need help with something, we all want to say, "Hey, I know a guy." or "Yes, I have somebody." Leaving a good review is easy. However, leaving a bad review takes time, energy, causes stress, frustration, and anxiety! NOBODY likes leaving bad reviews. So, when a bad review is left, it is obviously an honestly bad experience! YOU BETTER PAY ATTENTION, because people who have had bad experiences with Vince may not have left a review because it sucks to do so! I advise you to review the bad reviews, as they show consistency. I too wanted to leave a good review. In fact, I had two referrals for Vince prior to him even starting on my house. Mid way through I had a 3rd. Thank God I didn't pass on his information to them. I am not going to give my full experience with Vince (right now) because not only would it be incredibly long, but I also just don't have the energy or desire to waste any more of my life with this company. I will make this as short and to the point as I can! Vince wrote up a contract for one type of paint but used another without telling me. When I discovered it, I informed him, and his attitude was "oh well". He did reduce the cost by the difference but the paint in the contract was more durable and was what I "requested" and initially paid for according to his contract! His crew was to remove damaged siding on my home. According to the contract. They missed several pieces that I had to point out. They did not replace any siding that was more than 6 feet off the ground. They also put a glob of caulk under my window instead of replacing the siding. I complained to Vince and he said I previously agreed that the work was fine, therefore he wasn't going to do anything about it. That was not true! During our pre-work walk through, I pointed out a section of my porch that needed replacing. He included it in the quote. Later when he got frustrated with me correcting and pointing our all his errors, he said he was going to charge me for the section of my porch that was fixed. I then reminded him it was in the original quote and I wasn't paying one penny more! Because of all the issues I had with Vince, and in trying to get the siding under my window replaced and not just plastered with calk, I withheld payment. That's when his horns came out and he threatened to put a lien on my home. I sought legal advice. In the end my lawyer said, even if I won the case, was it worth the battle in having him come out yet again! The answer was NO! I was going through cancer treatments at the time and it just wasn't worth it. I would rather paint my house with a crayon. PLEASE READ THE BAD REVIEWS.
