I recently visited A Taco Affair in Little Falls and was quite impressed. Thirteen years of living in southern California has made me a bit of a taco snob, so when I saw the menu, I had some doubts. Tacos in L.A. are generally not fancy. Well, they can be, but for the most part they are street food made by people that have been making it for generations. The best ones are simple, but huge in flavor. Usually, they consist of freshly made corn tortillas, your meat of choice, a bit of onions, tomato and cilantro. Add a bit of hot sauce and that's it. The tacos at A Taco Affair are not that. What you get are tacos with a modern take on traditional flavors and some rather unexpected ingredients. For the most part I liked it. At $5.75 for a single taco, my first reaction was that it was too expensive, but I was wrong. The tacos are big and piled high with ingredients. On this visit I just ordered one, and I was satisfied. Two would make for a filling lunch. On Taco Tuesdays they offer 3 for $15, which is a good deal for tacos like these. The taco I ordered was their take on an Al Pastor taco, my favorite meat for a taco. It included marinated pork, pico de gallo, queso fresco, green cabbage and pineapple habanero aioli. It was honestly hard to tell how the al pastor itself compared with the traditional version I'm used to because the other ingredients were piled quite generously on top, but when combined it really made for a delicious bite. The flavors all came together well, and I enjoyed it. I did find it a bit hard to eat. As I mentioned, the ingredients are piled high. I think I will try a different taco on my next trip though. The restaurant is a nice place for a quick meal, but since all the tables are the high bar-style kind with high stools I wouldn't want to spend a lot of time sitting there. For the food they're serving though, it's fine. The employees were friendly, attentive and welcoming. Overall, I'm on the fence regarding these tacos. The flavor was good, but part of me feels that for something based on simple street food these are a bit over-engineered. I will definitely go back and try another taco and some of their other offerings. I recommend you give A Taco Affair a try and see what you think.

Tacos are delicious! The warm taco tortilla is corn which makes is amazing for someone that is gluten free! Music ambiance is great! Place was busy and customer service was excellent!

I love tacos so was looking forward to trying this spot. I called in my order of the shrimp po boy and the crab fritter tacos. It came to about $12.75. When I arrived I parked on the street nearby. I walked in and gave the lady my name. They gave me my food and I paid and left. When I got home I ate and the crab fritter taco was not a fav. I didn't care for the taste but the shrimp po boy taco with the sauce was very good. I will definitely return to try other tacos.

Found this restaurant at Wayne for lunch. It's an open concept restaurant where the tables are far away from each other. The place was clean and the staff was friendly. I saw I need to vegetarian options on the menu, when I inquired about any additional items Brad was nice enough to suggest that I could customize a taco on my own. I asked for his recommendation and he made the most amazing to who I have had in a very long time. I'll call dad or taco affair vegetarian special, they could totally put it up on their menu. Overall food was fresh and delicious. Ordered items: 1. Taco affair vegetarian special - 5/5 2. Bánh mì taco - 3/5 - a bit sweet for our liking 3. Bean fritter taco - 4/5 4. Green rice - 5/5 5. Truffled Yuca fries - 5/5 The staff was professional and friendly and meal was delicious, would recommend this place to anyone looking for a taco experience in the area.

What the inside lacks in dacore is more than made up by the inventive, delicious food they make. I make it a point to follow Taco Affair on Instagram because of their ever changing special tacos, sides, and hot sauces! I've seen some of the most inventive combinations here over the few months I've been going (pork belly tacos, pork shnitzel tacos, meat ball tacos) and they're all amazing! The chorizo hash is deliciously savory and zesty and the spicy Korea is very good but very liquidy Oddly enough this place has my absolute favorite fried chicken. Their country fried chicken taco in a lettuce wrap is to die for! With crispy chicken, zesty and savory jalapeno creme sauce and thick cut bacon, you can't go wrong! I definitely recommend trying the Mexican street corn and churros (with run chata dipping sauce of course!) for those who have never been! In addition, it is a little know fact that this place is BYOB.

My boyfriend and I tried 6 out of the 13 taco options, all on corn tortillas: Pork Al Pastor, Chorizo Hash, Po Boy, Smoked Brisket, Sesame Tuna, and Korean BBQ Pork. We also got the Churro Ice Cream Bowl for dessert. The Smoked Brisket and Korean BBQ tacos and the Churro ice cream bowl were delicious. Everything else, nothing to write home about. The Pork Al Pastor was extremely greasy and the others either had seasonings/sauces that didn't blend well together or they were too overloaded to get all the ingredients in a single bite. I was especially disappointed with the Sesame Tuna taco (Rare Ahi Tuna, Napa Cabbage, Scallion, Pickled Mango, Smoked Hoisin) - an extra 50 cents for rare ahi tuna that didn't taste all that fresh. Among the 3 I had on my plate at the time, I made sure to bite into that one first to taste the freshness of it before it got warm from everything else. I'm also not so attracted to the price of $4.75 for a single taco lol. But to end this review on a good note, I liked the atmosphere and the fact that there were big paper towel rolls at the tables.

If you are expecting TacoBell style tacos, head back to middle school kid. Street tacos? Nope strike two! What we have here is something unique. I think open faced burrito would be the best description. This joint has highly engineered flavor profile forward deliciousness wrapped in a corn tortilla delivery system. Yea that was a word salad, but the best way I can describe what I just ate. Each "taco" is very well thought out. I ate 3: the fried chicken, the el pastor, and the Korean BBQ. I can bore you with a play by play of how each taco had a balance of crispy, sour and sweet without being greasy.. but you really should just get your yelping ass over to this taco affair and try it for yourself.

I don't think I have ever used the phrase " train wreck" in a review before. This place is a train wreck. It's the terrible disaster movie you can't keep your eyes off of. I honestly don't even know where to begin on this overpriced, overhyped restaurant. Ever see the Costner movie "Water world"? An extremely hyped movie that went on to be one of the largest busts in cinematic history. That type of hype. The tacos were tasteless and bland. All those toppings and my taste buds were begging for something, anything. This place needs new cooks, someone who knows you need just a little salt. I got the dry, tasteless brisket tacos, the overcooked rubber shrimp po' boy and the burnt to a crisp crab fritters. The wife got the fried chicken, which like my crab were so over cooked and burnt. If it was fried, it was a greasy sloppy mess. The rest don't even matter because they weren't even notable enough to remember. The churros- decent but again overcooked. I ate 2 and the wife could barely eat one. "Overcooked grease logs" is how she described them. The saving Grace, the Mexican street corn but then again, it's impossible to mess that up. Their heart is in the right place, it just doesn't belong in the kitchen. Skip this one.

I don't like giving negative review but this was by far the worst experience I had, I ordered fried avocados, which seemed to be fried again for reheating and was filled with oil, it was inedible, even after trying to soak up excess oil in napkins. I love tacos and i have never seen one normal taco, for 6$, taco was just okayish and in po boy taco shrimps were again filled with oil and rubbery in texture, had no flavor of shrimp whatsoever. Churros were also disappointing, had big lump of uncooked dough in center overall super high priced taco for a below average experience. I was surprised since I checked reviews before ordering, not sure how they have high ratings

LISTEN LISTEN LISTEN!!! This place was a great find. My coworker and I were on the hunt for really good tacos and this place came up on this radar. When you walk in, you are greated by an amazing staff. Everyone was so helpful and didnt mind answering questions. (And I had alot) what i really enjoyed was how innovative and unorthodox the menu was. The tacos are too die for. My favorite today was 100% the Korean BBQ pork. This is a taco with kimchi and a ginger sesame aioli. Who even thinks of this and then makes it into a taco. Not I, but i am glad that they because I could have licked the plate. I think i might have licked it when no one was looking. Lol (Dont judge me. The churro with that Rum chata cream cheese will do something warm to your heart. It is the perfect balance to round out your taco meal. This is a quick fix if you have a sweet tooth. They a made fresh to order.

Flavor was good but why was it not hot, not even warm! The guacamole tasted good and fresh. The tortilla chips were my fav kind so happy about that. I also got a burrito and again, disappointed. At least it was hot but like 75% rice, 25% protein. No cheese, no crema and no salsa like the menu says and I think there was a teaspoon of pico de gallo in there too. I've never been to a Mexican restaurant where they don't serve you salsa on the side or on the table, this was crazy. Positives, the tortilla was good and so was the rice, both seemed homemade. But come on - this totally ruined my first experience.

Dark times.). Apparently there was also a sidewalk sale going on in Upper Montclair so it was definitely on the crowded side when we wandered over but we were still able to secure parking about a block away. Deliciously uneventful. Despite the congestion in the surrounding area, Playa Taqueria wasn't too busy - there were a few people seated outside, but otherwise we were able to walk right up to the counter and order. My favorite part of this experience by far was that Playa let you kind of mix and match/build your own. I'm very picky when it comes to Mexican because I don't like crunchy shizzle in my food (which is kind of a calling card of the genre) so a lot of times I'm out once pico de gallo or whatever automatically gets involved. Despite several items not being to my liking in the official quesadilla description, I was able to pivot and order a very basic version of it, with just chicken, cheese and a guac add-on. (After making an enormous deal of ordering off menu, the woman behind the counter listened to my order, nodded slowly and said, "...so you want a chicken quesadilla." I may have blown the situation out of proportion.) The quesadilla was very good. It was definitely made to order, so it came out several minutes after my chum's meal (a bowl of nachos or something that was housed quickly). It's not a formal restaurant by any stretch so the disparate arrival times to me aren't a big deal, especially when you're getting a better quality meal being made right then and then. It was a LITTLE too cheesy for me (absolutely dictionary definition nitpick), and it's wild to me that queso is one of the typical ingredients in this dish; I can't even imagine the cheese overload in that scenario. But the chicken was very flavorful and I was pleased that the guac was a legit portion (an item in my experience where you really have to pull teeth to get more than a very small spoonful, even if you're already paying extra for it). The restaurant (at least the front end) was being handled by a handful of young women, all of whom were very nice. The one at the register who dealt with my order specifically deserves top marks for dealing with my high maintenance behavior capably and ably. I also didn't think the price point was too bad - the obvious chain comp for me would be something like a Bubakoo's, which is definitely a step or two below this and really greasy. I think you're getting better food for roughly the same cost, which I'll always take in a heartbeat. I can't recommend the Town-Wide Yard Sale this year, but I do recommend this place.
