Both had masks on!) He promptly furnished a quote (he was the second to bid, and was the middle of the three bids). What convinced me to go with them was this: When they came to review the job, I had a reference sheet from City of Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety...and Mark said that they build to a much higher standard, and described including more rebar than the city requires, etc. He also talked about specifically matching the existing wall. His priorities seemed to match ours. Mark had said that they would be showing up at 7AM on the appointed day, and texted me at 7 to tell me that they would be 10 minutes late. I really appreciated that, as I had recently used a contractor who showed up when they chose to show up. Wall Brothers is clearly client-focused. Mark said that the job would be 3-4 days, and it was done in under 3. New wall matches the existing wall (and it's not a standard concrete block size) well. Crew was friendly and accessible throughout the job. There was a small miscommunication that was quickly corrected without incident, another measure of a good firm. Finally, each day, the crew left the site cleaned up. When the job was completed, one of the crew remained to clean up the site, and other than the new wall, you would not know a construction crew had been here this week! I'm entirely comfortable referring Wall Brothers Construction for their concrete/masonry work, and will certainly be calling them again as needed. Photos attached, plus here is a YouTube video that shows the construction of the job, in two minutes: https://youtu.be/_VwNkG6CFtA

They added few rows without paying attention to detail of adding sufficient concrete between them. My mom had to tell the workers to fill in the gaps. Then we had to tell them to fill in the gaps on our neighbor side because we share a wall. They did lazy work. Those areas were not filled at the joints. Needless to say, years later, today I am having issues with the wall. Because of the size block they used, my wall is now leaning and starting to buckle out. The new contractor I hired said this new block that was added is not up to code and it is the incorrect type/size. They should have never used it. Contractor also said many blocks are not set correctly because the joints were not properly adhered together with enough concrete between them. I was charged $1300 to add these 2-3 rows of blocks. And this was at least 7-8 years ago. I feel like I was ripped off. Now I have to tear the wall down and do it all over again because it has leaned to far it can't be repaired. It has to be replaced. Very upsetting especially because I wanted to hire a small local business. I want to support my community. It feels like they took advantage of our lack of knowledge behind wall building and codes. That's prob the worst part.

The situation was disappointing and frustrating to say the least, so I took matters into my own hands and called LA Concrete Works to see if they can fix the job for me. After reviewing the job and settling on a final start date, I could already see that this team was exceptional at what they do. Joe was communicative, ready to answer any question, and very lovely to work with - he is very detailed and came to visit the site often despite their busy schedule. Sydney at the main office was so understanding and a rockstar at keeping me up to date on the plan of action. Luis, Jose, and the install team were courteous, neat, and most of all extremely competent - they know what they are doing and they do it really well. In the end, I got the exact floor I wanted and was able to work with a team who listened to my needs and made sure I was happy with the work. The first person I spoke with made a strong, positive impression, professional, warm, and confident they could handle my project. I sent the requested photos and received confirmation they were received, and was told I'd hear from S., the project manager, within a specific time frame. After that, I never heard back, no call, email, or text. It's a shame, because it sounds like the quality of their work is good, but their lack of communication left me no choice but to hire another contractor.

We found Alfredo on Yelp after obtaining multiple price quotes and could not be happier with the entire collaboration process. He understood what we were trying to do and was able to execute what we wanted after just giving him a few Pinterest pictures. He was amazing to work with, checking in with us every day and offering up suggestions along the way without being pushy. Renovation inevitably comes with unexpected turns, but his team was able to help us reasonably navigate rerouting water and gas line, working around sprinklers and adding electrical. We tore out our crumbling concrete driveway, expanded over parts of the lawn, and added pavers from the driveway to the backyard. Luxury Pavers built us a custom bench, seating area, privacy wall, added posts for shades and brought in new turf. We could not be happier with the final product and are excited to spend our Summer in the yard.

And he truly did. As a perfectionist and handyman myself, I can tell when something is done well and according to plan, and Alfredo consistently met my expectations in a friendly manner. Not to mention, my wife approved of and liked the job he did. He is highly skilled in his work. His crew is equally friendly and dedicated, always taking pride in the quality of their work. From the very beginning, working with him was a breeze, and his quote was more competitive than those from other contractors. I developed a good rapport with him and often reached out for technical questions and referrals. It's worth noting that both my wife and I appreciate the work he did, which is even more important than what I have already mentioned. Alfredo's project involved installing pavers in my front yard, and he expertly followed the blueprints I provided. Now, I am focused on completing the fountain and landscaping in the planters as outlined in the plan. I highly recommend his services and commend his leadership. Although I haven't had the chance to meet his wife, who is also a vital part of the company, I appreciate her contributions as well. Thank you Alfredo, sorry Mr. don't worry

Do you not go by the contract and charge the customer regardless? 2) The additional area of 5 sq ft was not complimentary as I asked to include it when you came out for a quote and I PAID for the material and labor. 3) You replied my text 8hrs later saying not sure if it was you guys who cut the wire. What I expected was a simple apology. But, I received none. At least I tried to prevent you from making another trip due to an error on your part. 4) I figured you were intentionally charging me double for the sods (100sq ft vs. 50 sq) without any explanation. Was that for two sprinklers that you fixed?? Btw they are leaking again. And those were my sprinkler parts, too. 5)I was gonna let all this go.
