My contractor subcontracted a micro cement install and the people he hired did not do a good job. They left the job with uneven spots, micro cement all over my walls, and the sealer had already yellowed and was showing through. The situation was disappointing and frustrating to say the least, so I took matters into my own hands and called LA Concrete Works to see if they can fix the job for me. After reviewing the job and settling on a final start date, I could already see that this team was exceptional at what they do. Joe was communicative, ready to answer any question, and very lovely to work with - he is very detailed and came to visit the site often despite their busy schedule. We hired LA Concrete Works to refinish our existing concrete slab that was hidden under some truly god-awful burgundy carpet. They did our project in two stages which allowed us to live in the house while the work was being done and shift all the furniture from one side to the other, with one week in between the jobs to get all the moving/prep work done. Phase One was our master bedroom, hallway and two small bedrooms, Phase Two was our living room, family room, hallway and an office. I can't sing the praises of this company enough, the entire team did an amazing job from beginning to end and was great about communicating with me on every step. I'm a designer so I'm quite picky about how things are done, but you know what...these guys are just as picky about doing a good job so I always felt like I was in good hands! Once the many stages of prep work were done and the floor felt smooth as heck they spent a lot of time with me getting the colour just right and checking in with me after each coat (I work from home so luckily I was able to be very available...it's a team effort after all!) The end result has totally transformed our house! It was an '80s time capsule when we bought it, but with the help of this great team it's on the way to showing it's true modern bones! Although a big investment due to the sheer square footage involved (about 2400sqft total) the cost was more affordable than many other flooring options and if you're going for a modern look it's an incredible, durable surface with a timeless look. So concrete jobs are usually big jobs and I am in the property business so we usually give our concrete portion to our normal contractors. After going on yelp and finding LA concrete works I contacted them back in August in regards to 3 projects 2 house flips and my parents driveway remodeling. I did not receive a call back so I messaged them on yelp. A person got back to me and responded with they would love to help me and I should tell them more about my projects , I mean I repeatedly asked if I could make an appointment for someone to see my exterior because it need a whole remodel from scratch as I was applying for my permits with the city for interior so I could do my exterior as well , and she asked for me to write down what we want to do with pictures ( which is a bit ridiculous ) but I did it anyways, This was back in August, no real response, called again , nothing I kept getting questions on yelp, so I finally messaged them after our interior was done with other contractors and no response from them ( keep in mind I liked their work so much I actually held off all my exterior work to get in touch with them ) I got back on yelp and contacted them and said we are signing a contract with other contractors for our exterior and I still have not gotten a quote from you guys but the most important one is my parents house and mine because the house flips are being sold and I cannot wait on their work , can they please come and check it out immediately , so they were nice enough to say yes we are extremely busy but the owner came out and I was told I was going to get a quote immediately. This was last week, then I was told I'd get a quote and hear from them latest Thursday. It's Monday and still no word. I would have really liked to work with them seeing their reviews and yelps but I'm shocked as how they prolong and make customers wait for a quick meeting, quote or even ideas ! So this review is not a reflection of their work as we never got to that point, but of their customer service and cost estimating practice - see executive summary below: - Original quote was for 183 sf of wall and 120 sf of floor of microtopping = $8,950 - Scope was reduced due to budgetary constraints to 172 sf of wall and 56 sf of floor = $10,500 (scope reduced by 25% overall sf, but somehow cost increased by 17%???). We did remove other concrete scope throughout the project and that needs to be considered as a factor, but still.... -I then requested that due to increased cost with reduced sf, scope for only 12 additional sf at fireplace/hearth be included. Not only did they reject this reasonable request, they came back with yet another increase to $12,500. Sydney was also not great at being responsive during our correspondence either by phone or email - at the end of the day, it seems their priorities are with larger, and what they deem as more important projects. read more

After having it remodeled 2 years ago with another contractor, my floors started crumbling and bubbling and I was told it was due to my foundation and codes not up to inspection back in 1967. LA Concrete Works saved my sanity! I chose Larry based on the pictures on yelp, his customer service and guidance / reassurance it's not my foundation. I received a call within 24 hours and he dropped by my house to inspect on his way to another project. He provided me with a quote and voila! I have my family room, bedroom, hallway and bathroom back. Casey who worked on the floors is an amazing craftsman and he really knows and understands how concrete floors work. There's a lot of options and technique that goes into concrete floors. Larry was very honest and provided us with options and explained to me why he thought going the more expensive route didn't make sense! I had concrete pool coping completed by a different company and the finish was terrible and to make matters worse when they saw cut the concrete they chipped it everywhere leaving a complete mess on this new construction project in Venice. I reached out to several vendors and was told it would be cheaper to remove the current coping and replace with new coping. LA Concrete works took a look at the coping and presented a solution which would involve corrective action to repair the chipped cuts by filling them in and following that with a multi-step concrete coating and sealer. They sent several workers out over a four day period and the end result I am extremely happy with. The owner of the company worked with me the entire time, keeping me well informed of the process and progress and followed up after to make sure that I was happy with the outcome. These guys, like any other trades people that are good at what they do, are very busy right now. It did take a while to get them out there however Larry and I stayed in touch over a two week period until they were able to come out and get the work done. 100% worth the wait! I wouldn't even think twice next time about trying to save money on my concrete work and would go straight to LA Concrete works. While this company did a fabulous job on their actual work that they did in my house, unfortunately they did not hold to their end of their extensive contract. My original contract with them was for 1800ish square feet, and stated that "this bid is based on a single move-in with continuous work. Additional move-ins will cost $1500 per remobilization, unless other agreements are reached". When they arrived on site to do their work, they let my designer and my contractor know that the master bathroom floor was not prepped to their liking. That due to the fact that we had radiant heat on the floor, my contractor was supposed to prep the floor in a certain way, while the rest of the floor in the house did not have the radiant heat and they could simply pour onto the foundation. The man on the job site let me know that there would be a fee to return if the contractor did not redo the prep work before they were finished with the rest of the house. I obviously thought that the fee would be $1500 as stated in their contract. My contractor demoed his original prep work, and had to buy new radiant heat (which was back ordered) and re pour the prep for LA concrete works to do their mictrotop on. This was not done in time. LA concrete works finished their work in the rest of the house and left. I assumed they would come back, charge me an extra $1500 and return to finish the 167 sf bathroom at the original per sf price of $20.75 plus any semi rigid they would need at an additional $3 per sf. After about a month, I received an email letting me know that it would be $15,000 to return to do my 167sf bathroom. But they would deduct the approx $4000 for the bathroom from my original bid. So basically they would give me a credit of $4000 to do the job for $15000. The same job. Making the price per sf to do the bathroom $90 per sf. I spoke to both the owner Larry and the office manager Sydney and explained how ridiculous this was. And how had they told me it would be $15,000 to return I would have sent them away until the bathroom was properly prepped to do the job all at one time. Or I would have not made my contractor rip out his work and waste the radiant heating, and I could have chosen tile. Larry explained that the contract sentence that I read to him (quoted above) was for certain design things, not like this case. (still don't understand the difference). I explained to them that I felt tricked, and that their lack of communication and transparency caused a ripple effect costing my contractor and myself money and time. They waited a week to get back to me and then offered me a $1000 discount. Larry explained that they charge per day to work, not per sf. Although it doesnt say this anywhere in their 7 page contract. And that my bathroom would take 5 days to work on. While I love their work, I would never have this company come back to my house. I paid them for the job they did do, as I am a woman of my word, but I would definitely not recommend working with them. read more

I love this company and highly recommend them! Before I go into details, I just want say, they are professional, trustworthy, reliable and true craftsman. Most importantly, they are great people. I had a big crack going through my concrete garage floor that I needed to get fixed. I got a few quotes before them, but didn't care for or trust the people that came. Casey came out to check out my floor and I instantly liked him. He was professional, yet easy going. He felt I only needed to grind down and sand the floor to even it out, and then they would fill the crack, sand it again, wax, stain and seal it. This was significantly less expensive then the previous quotes. Joe and Louis came to do the work, and again, good energy, nice people, and hard working craftsman. And, the floor looks great!!!! I got the quote on Tuesday, they started on Thursday, and were done Saturday morning. The icing one the cake, was Larry. He is the owner and came with Joe on the last day while he did the finishing touches. Again, I felt like I could chit chat with him over a cup of coffee. He is very cool and down to earth. This whole group of people are great people, and a gem in the world contracting. I wish they did more types of work because I would hire them for everything! We highly recommend the company. They are highly professional and stand behind their work. We had our patio surface redone. This entailed, among other things, removing the existing paint using a high pressure water hoses. The high pressure seeped into our slider causing the threshold to become warped. LA Concrete works promptly sent Joe out to assess the situation. He returned a few days later with a trained technician to replace the threshold. They really stand behind their work. The work was done timely and the cleanup was excellent. The staff was friendly and competent. I'm very pleased with their work and how the floors turned out. They can make rough looking concrete look amazing! I highly recommend this company. Everyone at the company was professional. They were on time and prompt with returning phone calls. The job took the exact number of days they said it would, and I appreciate how quickly the job was finished. They were respectful of my home and my property. They covered areas (including vents, doorways, cabinets, and countertops) for dust control purposes. I personally wanted the stain to be a charcoal blackish color. They achieved this color and showed me the stain in stages as they were darkening it to make sure I was happy with the level of darkness in the stain.
