My old (very old) jimmy proof lock broke. I was still able to lock the door with the button on the lower door knob but that's not adequate for a front door lock. I had bought a surface mounted deadbolt thinking I would install it myself but thought I may be getting into more than I bargained for. I decided to call a locksmith. A Tri-County had a few good reviews on the web and has the most "A" reviews on Angies List, so I called. Jay came over and agreed to try to install the deadbolt I had bought. He really had to spend time making it work with my door and cylinder. It ended up working very smoothly. No way I would have been able to do what he did. He also re-keyed the deadbolt on my patio door so then my whole house worked on one key. He also tightened 2 door knobs for me. I was house-sitting for my sister and managed to get locked out one morning. I managed to borrow a phone from a neighbor and called several locksmiths. Jay was the only one who answered the phone, and he committed to making me his next stop once he finished the job he was on right then, which was some distance away. He streamlined the process by having me send a picture of the offending lock, and kept in communication with an approximate time frame, then ETAs as he headed out and was arriving. The lock was old and improperly installed and took a bit to open, and I appreciated that Jay said "when we get it open" rather than "if". Excellent service! Fast, knowledgeable, and polite. Fred came out and quickly installed a wifi lock and handle on my front door. I'm moving in to a place that needs work and it's been a little hectic, so I appreciated how fast they fit me in to the schedule. Fred knew how to make sure the lock works super smoothly! He even took a drill to the frame to be certain it will function correctly, and explained things to me along the way. They take credit cards, which was helpful, too. These guys have always been great. Fortunately, in the past, I only needed to call them for non-emergencies, at the house and at the office. UNfortunately, recently had to call them because I was locked out of my new office space and didn't have spare keys, the landlord was out of town and the knox box didn't have any current keys in it for my unit. These guys came out quickly and not only got me into the building, they changed out my locks, made me spare keys and replaced the "guilty" handle...the one that locked me out in the first place. I called A-Tri-County Lock, LLC today to schedule an appointment to have some locks re-keyed and my old deadbolts checked. I expected to have to leave a message but was surprised when Jay answered the phone. He said he had a few jobs to do but that he would come tonight after he finished if it would not be too late for me. He was very professional & so reasonable! I called on a Monday late afternoon to see if they could change a door lock/key. They had several clients on the list but still made it out promptly that very same evening-- and called to give me notice before arriving. Totally professional, they got to work right away and also made recommendations of other ways to increase security around the house (nothing they were charging for or would benefit them in any way). They were efficient and quick, and very friendly. Costs were more than reasonable, and they didn't charge for a couple of extra things they ended up having to do to get the job done. My boyfriend and I moved into our new house over New Years weekend and I called around to see about getting our locks changed and everywhere I called told me I would have to wait till the end of the week since it was a holiday weekend. Excellent!!! key broke off into ignition on Memorial Day. This car is my boyfriends second girlfriend. We couldnt trust just Anyone to come. We needed someone who understood the value of the car and the care it needed to get the job done. A-Tri-county lock came to our rescue! On a holiday! Within TWO minutes he got the broken key out. I was locked out of my car at the airport at 2 AM. Jay was the only locksmith that answered the phone and could send someone. Fred arrived in half an hour and dealt with my overtired, panicky self with warmth and confidence. After getting into the car, we discovered that the battery had died. Tri-county changed all the locks in our home. The old locks weren't working well and half of them didnt even lock anymore. They changed them fast and at a fair price. Did a great job, double and triple checked everything before they left. The basement door never closed or locked well, we had to push on it to lock it and we had to turn the handle to even get the door closed. Everything works great now, all we do is shut the door and we feel much safer. Awesome company, recommend to all. They will make sure that your stuff is done right. read more

The lock in the doorknob of the door leading from the utility room to the garage broke and we couldn't open the door. We called Jay. He was at our house in about 20 minutes. Another 20 minutes and he had the bad lock removed and a new lock installed. He gave us instructions on how to open the door in an emergency with the lock broken as ours was.
