Do not take your pet for day care/kennel services. He/she might not be alive due to incompetence of the owner Jaycee. It is with heavy heart I write this. Employees Eden/Jenna have been great and my dog loves them. In my opinion, it is the owner/Jaycee that is fake, incompetent and a pathological liar. My 9 mo. old (14 pound) puppy got attacked-requiring stitches on his throat. By Jaycee's own admission- the dog was three times his size. Without prior consent - Jaycee didn't call at the time of the event and took to her own vet. Why would she not allow the pet owner the opportunity to meet at the vet and use their own vet ? She acted concerned and asked to care for him a few days. Believing it was an isolated incident and falsely believing she was sincerely sorry for her mistake, I allowed my puppy to return. On multiple occasions, I was assured the other dog was banished and my dog would never be put with larger dogs again. Then it happened again. Once again, my dog was mauled. Again, not called immediately, once again taken to her vet. She has sent pets to that Vet for years and possibly a financial arrangement. (Note, the vet seems fine. That's not the point). It's not her concern - it is to deter from expenses and to pretend care to allow time for the dog to heal to not allow the pet owner to see the severity. Three weeks later he is still limping. Before when he saw dogs on his walk he would get so excited to meet them and now he's fearful of larger dogs. He might not rebound this time. When I questioned her about the size of this dog and when asked why she allowed my small dog to be with large dogs - she refused to answer. When questioned about cameras she lied & said there weren't any. Why are dogs with weight/size disparity allowed to be together (after repeatedly being promised they would not be) and why would there not be cameras in shared/common areas? I have chosen not to return ... not at her request. She's willing to line her pockets with the hundreds of dollars I spend a month. It's important for me to have a dog well socialized and happy and the cost of day care is worth that happiness. When I told her I had to report the incident - she then lied and said my dog bit her and she didn't report it. (Basically asking me not to report it). Another lie. Wouldn't it be the facilities responsibility to report it and also tell the owner - further not allow a dog to return? Yet, it's me refusing to return. Once I pointed out that obvious - she had no choice but to back down from that lie. By hers and her staff own quotes- they have repeatedly talked about how sweet/ loving he is ..."he loves everyone and everyone loves him", "he's always sweet / a good boy", "he's never been any trouble- he's happy all the time", "he'll play with any/everyone of the dogs". I've even watched my dog be groomed (by someone else) and he didn't even squirm - let alone bite at someone. Now, when I say I have to report it she deflects and tries to blame a puppy that has now twice almost gotten his life taken from him due to her incompetence? Both times my dog was attacked while in her care - not her employees. Both dogs much larger than he. By her own admission the first dog was 3 times his size. This time she refused to tell me the size of the dog. She was the one responsible for the attacks. Her incompetence. At one time, maybe she had true concern for pets but maybe now she has lost her way and doesn't comprehend the need to keep larger/aggressive dogs away from 14 pound puppies. I'm not sure, however, I am sure that my dog has been mauled twice while in her care, twice taken to her vet without first calling in advance for permission. Readers, please use your own gut feeling and use caution when allowing her to care for your pet. Read all the negative comments and weigh out for yourself. You may be lucky and your dog will be happy - like mine was or your dog may end up mauled, broken or even worse dead. read more

No one does a better groom than AVIP. Their groomers are next level. I've always had a positive experience.

I've used this place a couple of times. They say the dogs can roam around free in their main room but at night get locked up in their cages/kennels. My dog always came back in good shape but absolutely has to be forced into their door when I get there. My biggest gripe is they will NOT allow me to look behind the wall of the front office and actually see the area they keep the dogs. Is it dirty? Is it in sad shape? I just don't know. DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT bring your animal here. The environment your dog is subjected to must be absolutely deplorable and horrifying. My dog came back with eye trama caused by her "backing off the table when the dryer kicked on". Pretty much she hung herself and got poked in the eye while swinging there... I was willing to forgive that, even though I noticed they made sure to take my money before showing me my dog and giving me that explanation... I had a vet check up planned afterward so I was in to much of a hurry to give them hell. Her eye was bloodshot and looked like it was bulging out around the rims. I got her eye stained and got her on antibiotics and that turned out fine, luckily there was no damage to the eye. After getting her home I noticed she was itching at her ears and shoulders a lot, as dogs sometimes do, but a little more than usual. Curious I rolled her over and noticed some crawling insects in her fur (thank god she's an all white dog). I ended up pull 4 blood filled fleas off of her, so I ended up giving her a flea bath and bath of my own after all. I can only guess this places brushes have flea eggs or mature fleas crawling in them at this point. All this was still forgivable, until now, it's 2 am and my dog is hacking and spitting up white froth. All signs I've looked up point to kennel cough, and even the gestation and onset of symptoms perfectly align with Chloe's visit to VIP. Fuck this place, I'm surprised they are still allowed to operate. If I could give no stars I would. read more

Ok.. where do I start? The very attentive owner, Jaycee? The great Front desk staff? Great prices? That they took time to tour before We dropped off our 8 month old Labradoodle. They made us feel so comfortable and we highly recommend them! We will definitely bring our Labradoodle back! We were planning a day beach trip to Treasure Island so I looked for a few places to have our pup play. Friday evening, I found VIP Pet on a Google search. I emailed Friday evening and got a reply early Saturday morning. Turns out our pup didn't have one required vaccine (also a sign of a good place because they make sure every pet is protected!). The owner set an appointment with her local vet (2 miles down) and then we were able to drop off our pup for a fun day! Jaycee was great at communicating. Our labradoodle had a great time, we had a great time, and we are thankful for A Very Important Pet!! Thank you for making our day!! read more

A very good friend of mine had been VERY pleased with the care that VIP had been giving her dog. Soooo pleased that I decided to take our "little girl" for a day at the beauty parlor. The first time I took her I was so very very VERY pleased. She looked perfect and came out VERY proud. I could tell she felt VERY good. SEVEN weeks later I took her again. They treat him like family, they always remember his specific needs and they never treat him like just a number like other services ive used. best dog center around, great grooms, pricing is competitive with anywhere else but like taking him to family, the daycare is awesome too, they do basically everything for dogs. We were customers for about 10 years and up until the previous few years this was a wonderful place for our family pets. For reasons unknown over the past few years things seem to have changed, whether it's a lack of interest in the business, unqualified or unprofessional people, or profit over customer service I don't know. It took a lot of convincing on my part to be able to leave our two dogs for boarding recently, the previous few visits the dogs came back skittish and with diarrhea so my wife had pretty much decided to go elsewhere. I should have listen to her. This last time we received both dogs back one missing its collar, food bowl and any unused food. The other came back with food left which had they fed him as instructed should not of happened. The girl at the counter was very dis-interested and uncaring about the missing collar and when questioned about the food and bowl we were told they probably got thrown away. When I reached out to JC about the issue while she sounded interested she ultimately told us that the collar was our fault because we should have not sent the dog with a special collar as they are not responsible and the food issue was an unfortunate accident. Previous incidents which had convinced my wife to no longer visit this establishment was due to our dogs coming back having diarrhea and being skittish which was later attributed to the dogs receiving food other than their own. This truly saddens me because when this business originally opened they truly were all about the animals And being a dog lover myself having to leave my dog with somebody else was hard enough but they made it easy because of their attentive nature; every ounce of that is now long gone. Whatever is going on with this business it saddens me, because at one time they were a decent place to visit. read more

I made a reservation for our dog to be boarded from 12/24 - 12/29. I asked no less than 5 times if they would be open to drop off our dog between 7:15-7:30 on 12/24 since we had a flight to catch, and the employee booking the boarding reservation told me yes. I even called the next day to double check because the website states they open at 8:00am on Sundays. On the way to the airport on 12/24 we attempted to drop our dog off at 7:20am, with no answer from AVIP. We frantically had to call and wake our neighbor and ask her to drop him off on their way out of town for the holiday. This situation should have never happened. Our dog has been boarded here twice, and both times there have been miscommunications from this business; not to mention they charged $12 more than they told me it would cost - we will not be returning. **Julie from AVIP called to apologize, and offered 4 nights of boarding due to the miscommunication** read more

Unfortunately I had to travel 30 minutes to this place. I was given a certain amount for the grooming for my one-year-old great Dane puppy. This is his second time at the groomers he is a sweet boy. When I arrived everyone seemed very friendly I did ask if he would be alone by himself or placed with other dogs to roam freely. He is not aggressive whatsoever. After leaving him I was given a call and the young lady told me that his visit was going to be $60 I informed the young lady that I was definitely told a different price and would not have traveled over 30 minutes if it was the same price it would be in my area. I was not trying to be disrespectful or rude but the communication was definitely not consistent nor correct. She ended up calling the owner and they did agree to honor the price that I was told. Which I definitely appreciate. I think the huge problem for me is when my boy got in the car I turned around to look at him because when I put my hand in the backseat there was blood all over my hand. I pulled over and looked at his face and on top of his nose was a cut and now his whole nose is swollen greatly. This really worries me and concerns me I feel horrible for him because I was just trying to do something nice for him as well as trying to save money due to me being a college student. It honestly was a nightmare and when he got home all he did was sleep his nose was bleeding for over an hour and it's still swollen. Although I do appreciate them honoring the price I would honestly take everything back because nothing is worth putting him in pain or discomfort. If you have a pet please think before going here. I'm not posting to be nasty or rude or stop anybody from making money I just don't want anyone else to have to experience what I am experiencing with my baby. I feel horrible. read more

WORST PET SERVICE ON THE PLANET! If you love your pet, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't even consider taking your pet here. They have coupon for their service, but it's NOT even worth it. TRUST ME. IT'S NOT WORTH IT. YOU WILL REGRET IT LATER. I took my dog here for a haircut cause I saw they have a coupon for $35. It turns out to be a NIGHTMARE. I made the appointment for 10am, they took 6 hours just have a bath done and they charged me $30 for a bath, which I did not ask for. Then I asked how long it takes for them to finish the haircut and they said "It may be a few more hours.." I took my dog in for a haircut, NOT boarding. When I complained, the owner didn't even want to speak with me, and was being VERY RUDE about the whole process. She would NOT let your dog leave if you didn't pay the service fee, and she will make sure she gets the money, even if she doesn't provide the service that you asked for. The staff was very unprofessional and one staff member actually cussed at me, which is pretty crazy. My dog left the place with a bad ear infection, probably from the bath or ear wash which I didn't ask for. I ended up having to take my dog to the vet for the ear infection and pay $75 for a yeast infection in his ear. The vet said that happens when the tech doesn't clean the ear properly and when they use the same wipes for multiple pets. I wish I could grade this place 0 STAR if yelp let me, but too bad, that's not one of the choices. TRY SOMEWHERE ELSE FOR YOUR PET SERVICE CAUSE THIS PLACE IS FULL OF SHIT!!!!!! read more

I've been taking my baby there for over a year. Plus I took one of my neighbor's dogs there as well. I can't believe anyone would have anything bad to say about this place at all. Simply wrong. For starters they have cameras in the dog area where the dogs roam free that you can watch from up front yourself when you go in the door. I've been taking my Precious there since she was about 6 months old. She's over a year old and has gone back repeatedly every 2-3 months for her ultimate grooming treatment day. She ALWAYS comes back looking beautiful! ALWAYS. I have non-stop pictures of her afterwards. Beautiful! She's ALWAYS so happy to see me when I come to pick her up, too! Overjoyed in fact because she KNOWS she looks beautiful! If I could post pictures of her immediately after her treatment there? I would! Yes she puts the brakes on at the door, but, I've seen a lot of other pets do the same thing when I'm there, too. It's natural. My girl was a shelter puppy at the age of 5 months. So, it is scary when you hear all the other dogs barking. Especially, when they are with you 24/7 and all of a sudden you're taking them inside the place. Again. I've thought absolutely nothing of it. Because she's so close to me. Dogs tend to go into sensory overload when they go to the vet, the pet stores or even the groomer! It's not the place that scares them. It's ALL the new smells they pick up prior to going in. Once she's inside though she knows I'll be back for her. She gets to play with and see the other dogs around her. The staff has always treated her very well! So whatever you read about them that says other than good things? Don't believe. I wouldn't keep taking my girl back in if from the very get go I didn't trust them with her. :) And, I've got the pictures to prove it! My Precious loves them! read more

My dog has been going to AVIP for daycare pretty much every Friday for about 6 years. She is happy when she goes in and tired when I pick her up. The staff is always friendly and they clearly love animals. I have recommended AVIP to friends and would not hesitate to do so again. read more

I can't say my experience was particularly good. I picked up two dogs for someone who paid cash prior to dropping them off. Not only did the staff forget all about me up at the register; when they did remember me, they tried to make me pay again, and then they left me waiting -forever- while they tracked down the payment (i saw a computer at the register... ever heard of electronic records?). In the meantime, everyone and their mother were allowed to cut me in line and check out their mutts ahead of me! They also almost lost one of the dogs' leashes (insisted he arrived without a leash), which only leads me to further believe that this place needs to get its stuff together. When all was said and done, they'd wasted almost 20 minutes of my day on something that had already been finished (the dogs were supposedly groomed at this point and waiting in cages) and fully paid. Really, I'm not sure if the dogs were actually ready -- they didn't call either myself or the owner to notify us (we had to call them), and it took so long that I almost suspect they were buying time to groom the dogs. And although ultimately, both dogs both looked relatively nicely groomed, "A Very Important Pet" simply doesn't live up to its moniker. At least, not when it comes to how the staff treats the pets' humans. read more

We absolutely LOVE A VIP!! Layla was our first doggy to try it out... we had taken her to three other places and she just wasn't happy. She was a deaf white boxer and she spent her entire life going there M - F until the very end. She absolutely loved being there and she loved everyone that worked there - especially the owner, Jaycee. While Layla was still alive we got an Australian Labradoodle - Conan O'Brian. He loves it there too!! After Layla passed we got a puppy - a golden doodle we named Tory Burch. She is just over a year now and she too loves going to A VIP. Lulu - my maltese came with me to work every day her entire life. But at 11 it became too much for her. She just was too stressed out (she thought it was her job to patrol the place and give tours) to continue the daily regimen. So I started bringing her too. Now Lulu was never the sweet loving dog the others are - her reputation was more like - what's that five letter word they refer to female dogs as?? You get my point. But at A VIP she has a rep of being sweet and well behaved!! Go figure!! She even has a younger boyfriend there! So we've been customers for over 12 years and its so great to have a place to bring your fur babies when you go on vacation. They're so very accommodating and you can just tell hoe much Jaycee cares!! read more

Our new boston terrier stayed for 5 days at A VIP. he boarded in the cage free area recommended by the owner jacee roth, we were a little hesitant but the socialization and caring interaction between staff and dogs was wonderful. he came home safe,healthy & clean. my husband and I would highly recommend this doggie HOTEL! We have been bringing our dogs here for boarding since we moved to the area from NY. They are always excited when we get there...wagging tails, pulling on me to go in. My two puppies have been going to daycare for awhile and I am very happy with A Very Important Pet. The staff is friendly in the morning, many times greeting us before we get in the door. I have had the pups bathed prior to pick-up and they have been happy, fresh and clean. When I had to board them for a weekend, the staff was very caring and cooperative with their feeding habits. I had them both groomed during their stay. The groomer took notes on how I wanted them trimmed and they both looked great when I picked them up. We have used this facility many times to get our standard schnauzer groomed. We have also left him here for an afternoon of doggie day care. I do NOT understand the negative reviews. He always looks fabulous when we pick him up & he is NEVER reluctant to go in the shop. We are in clearwater for the winter only so I do have experience with other groomers, daycare. First and foremost just how can we actually rate a business that provides such detailed loving care to our beloved pets when we ask them to care for them when we are unable to proved the NEEDED care ourselves WE SHOULD ALL BE SO THANKFULL TO HAVE SUCH A BUSINESS AVALIBLE TO US WHEN WE ARE IN NEED. I have used ALL of VIP's services for the past 8 years. My girl Ricki actually loves going for her grooming there. This is a SUPER place to bring your loved pet for grooming, boarding and daycare. The staff is always SUPER NICE and willing to do whatever is needed. Their hours are extended for those like me who may have to work late occasionally. Horrible! I took my 9 lb, 8 year old shitzu here today for her first time. A few hours later they called to tell me they had cut her foot with a Dremal tool. The owner took her to the vet of her choice without calling me first. She ended up having surgery today on the foot to close the wound which was almost entirely through her foot. She's a tough little girl. Dolly survived a roll over crash a year ago which killed both of my parents. She was the only survivor and has been with me ever since. She was my moms baby. Needless to say, she's very special to me and I had informed them of this and that she is very nervous since the accident. She sees the dr again tomorrow and is on antibiotics since she was cut by a dirty not sanitized Dremal tool. Along with pain meds..I feel they were careless and incompetent. In her 8 years, she's been going to the groomer every 6 weeks and never been hurt. I am a hairstylist and if I cut some little child while cutting their hair you can bet I'd be in big trouble! In 24 years that's never happened thank GOD. Even with those under 2 years old. The worst part is..They never apologized. Just kept saying it was an accident. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Let's just hope she has a fast recovery! Poor baby. I gave a one star rating because I had to to post this. I don't want anyone else's animals hurt there. read more
