I did not even recognize him. He had been shaved to an inch of fur. It is still cold and now he has no fur to keep him warm. I thought that the groomer would know not to completely remove all his fur. I did say to leave the fur the same length, but not take it all off. His fur was long and shaggy but now he looks like a short hair cat. I will still take him for visits because he is will liked and taken care of but will have second thoughts about grooming. I have a 6 year old long haired dachshund who I have always groomed myself. I like to shave his hair short and then wash him well to make sure all the trimmed hair is off his body. I decided to have it done professionally for the first time and when I brought my dog home he kept rubbing against the sofa and lying on his back to rub himself almost all day for a week straight. These are things he's never done before. Thinking he was allergic to the shampoo used at the vet, I took him a bath at home and was shocked and infuriated at how much trimmed hair came off him. Did the groomer shave him and not give him a bath afterward or did she just give him a crappy bath? Once I cleaned him he no longer rubbed himself due to discomfort but he began chewing on his paw until it was raw. I had to take him to the vet who told me it was infact an allergic reaction so he gave my dog a cortisone shot and antibiotics. And this I paid for out of my own pocket without so much as a sorry from the staff. I will NEVER take my dog there again for grooming.

The vet was nowhere to be found so I immediately took him to my vet. They said not only did he have a cold, but he had the worst case of conjunctivitis they have ever seen. Total pet care's vet called me back 3 hours after leaving, to tell me they thought it was simply redness due to excitement! If you value the wellbeing of your pet, I would not recommend leaving them in this facility.

During the meet and greet, they took very detailed notes about EVERYTHING including where to find the food, where the leashes were stored, typical walking routes, etc. By the end of the visit, we felt very good about our decision to have them watch the pups. This made me feel comfortable that everyone is vetted before being allowed to participate in daycare. They also have webcams which is a major plus! We had a not so great experience at another doggy daycare and I'm so relieved this place is better. Even when my pup comes home, he doesn't reek nearly as bad as the previous doggy daycare.
