My little nugget has been going here for the past two years and they do such an amazing job at keeping her cool, calm and collected. AVOID LIKE THIS INSURANCE BILLING NIGHTMARE LIKE THE PLAGUE! The insurance billing of this place is a nightmare. When I called A Wild Smile, I specifically asked if they took Cigna dental insurance and was told "SURE!", but what I found out later this statement really meant was "we bill through a third party billing company and they'll only count as out of network" When I inquired further about being out of network and whether I would have to pay anything for a simple annual checkup and cleaning I was told "well, we usually just eat the difference between what we would have been paid for in network and what we get from the billing company" Ok fine, so we gave it a shot. I took my kiddo in for a cleaning. A few weeks later I noticed that Cigna had been billed IN-NETWORK so I was pleased that we could be getting normal coverage from our insurance carrier at Wild Smile... Well... GUESS WHAT? A few weeks after that, I got a bill for around $50. A bill for a service that is INCLUDED at no additional charge every year from my insurance provider. I called and inquired about the bill and they claim the price is correct so now I owe Wild Smile money even though they previously indicated that I wouldn't. Sigh. Time to look for a new dental office. read more

Took our daughter here for her first dental appointment today. She was reluctant, but the experience was amazing. All of the fun activities in the waiting room helped her get comfortable. Once called back, she got apprehensive again, but the dental hygienist was super friendly and helpful. We were able to have the entire exam, cleaning and X-rays done before Dr. Jenn examined her. The dentist and all of the staff were so friendly and explained everything. We got a balloon, coins for prizes and a goodie bag with all the necessities. I have braces and I was able to get my wire taken of for this and the did one of the best tooth cleanings i've ever had! My hygienist was Angelica and she was super super super friendly and nice. Wild Smile was able to get him seen for an emergency visit within the hour. He was hysterically crying when we pulled into the parking lot and laughing when we left the office. We have been going here for nearly 15 years now and while there has been a change in ownership since we started the care and attention hasn't wavered. We attempted seeing a different dentist once, because this is now an hour drive one way for our family, but it's worth it twice a year for our kids. They are honest, thoughtful and very patient. We love all of the staff here and the Dr. I have one kiddo who is VERY nervous about just about anything and has had bad luck with his teeth and they are so absolutely amazing with him. It's also not often that I'll refer friends or family places because I don't want to be responsible for bad experiences but I did refer a friend because her son needed a lot of dental work and she now sings the praises of Dr. Rebecca and staff and I'm so happy. You never want to send people places and have it be a bad experience for them. We will make the 2 hour commute no matter what. read more

If I could give this office ZERO stars I would. This office charged $315 for fluoride that should only cost $20. They overcharge and I called around to other offices to verify this. This is a 2 step treatment and when I said we would not be returning for the second part of the treatment they refused to refund half the cost! This place is incredible! I brought my 3 year old daughter in for her first visit yesterday, and every person we had an interaction with was great! I'm a dental hygienist myself, so having background knowledge in this field makes me even more confident in giving 5 stars! Danyelle is the dental assistant we saw and she is FANTASTIC! She called the day before to ask about my daughter and if there were any concerns. Even asked what her favorite color was so she could pick things out for her ahead of time. They did a really awesome job at making my daughter feel comfortable during the entire visit... showing, explaining, making it fun, and not forcing her to do things she didn't want to do. First time mom, 1 week postpartum, the term "struggling with breastfeeding" doesn't give our situation justice. So...many...tears from both baby and me. It turns out our perfect little girl had a tongue tie and an upper lip tie. When we found out about the ties we called Wild Smile and they fit us in that very afternoon. It was a Friday and we were not going to make it through the weekend. They used some amazing laser technology to cut the ties. Our daughter didn't seem to mind at all. Nursing was immediately 1000000% better. They even provided a private room for us to check out her new found nursing freedom. Everyone we encountered was kind, professional, and empathetic. The dentist should be knighted! I cannot thank them enough for their help and encouragement. The location is pretty fun too. read more

Back when *I* was a kid, we had to trudge 5 miles through the snow-- snow even in Summer!-- to go to the dentist. We were barefoot, and it was uphill, both ways! When we got there, they didn't have fancy-schmancy tools or painkillers, no... they had a rusty set of pliers and a shot of whiskey. Think the whiskey was for us? To dull the pain? Hell no, you young namby-pamby... that was for the DENTIST! To keep away the shakes. Yeah, that's right... you kids have it way too good these days. Gonna make ya soft. **resume normal speaking voice** Even growing up as a kid in the 70s and 80s, a trip to the dentist was nothing to smile about. I remember my pediatric dentist's office as being blah, gray, uninviting, and the only things telling it apart from a grownup's dentist were the copies of "Highlights" on the waiting-room table. Well things sure have changed, and A Wild Smile is about as far from MY pediatric dentist's office as can be. Yesterday afternoon, my 14-month-old son pulled a TV tray down onto his face and knocked out one of his tiny little teeth! Clean out. Poor little guy! There was blood, but he took it like a trooper. Trouble was, being as how the little man only had 8 teeth to begin with, we didn't didn't have a dentist yet. I called his pediatrician for a recommendation.... and they sent us to A Wild Smile. They were able to get us right in and we didn't even have to wait! People, the place is GORGEOUS. Kids are put right at ease with the jungle-room atmosphere complete with XBox games in the waiting room, a tree-cave, and all sorts of other stuff to make an apprehensive kid grin. And yes, they've even got "Highlights." Kids who are there for a basic cleaning will be taken care of underneath the branches of a huge tree from which stuffed monkeys dangle and swing. There are several exam chairs lined up right next to each other... isn't that the coolest? No longer are you closed off in a room alone with The Man In The White Coat... you've got another kid right next to you having the same scraping, buzzing, cleaning, swishing, and spitting session. And all the while you're gazing up into the branches of some jungle foliage. Way awesome. Of course there ARE individual exam rooms for the serious stuff. That's where our son went, and he was seen by Dr. Jesse. He went miles to set our little one at ease ("see my gloves? they're crinkly! want to touch them?") and it's obvious he's both excellent at and enjoys what he does. Even though it's way across town from our place, we decided then and there that we'd found our permanent dentist. For the record, the little mister will be fine! He'll be a gap-toothed toughie until his grownup teeth come in, but no worries. It's his hockey face. :) read more

Let me say this first; this is a perfectly acceptable dentist's office. I did not experience any real problems here. But, in the interest of balance, let me tell you how our visit went. Everyone in the office is really nice. I mean, REALLY nice. The whole place is done up like a jungle, with trees and animals and the whole bit. My problem is, everyone is REALLY NICE. It's not normal. My kid does not need to be lured into your castle made of shiny things with a bizarre, high-pitched, overly enthusiastic voice. It freaks him out. He KNOWS instinctively that something is up. So, he's in the chair, a little wary of all the niceness, and the hygenist (sorry if that is not the correct term) is talking, really nicely, really fast, about all this stuff they are going to do. She asks him if he eats toothpaste. She tells him NOT to eat toothpaste, as it will make him sick. Then she tells him she's going to put toothpaste on a little cleaner and put it in his mouth and that he should SWALLOW the toothpaste. At this point he is bewildered and freaked out.....(but you just SAID....) And she keeps talking, talking, talking, in a weird chipmunky voice. I wanted to put my hand over her mouth and say, "SHHHHHH. You are giving him WAY too much information, and scaring him. Just clean his teeth." So, at that first visit, he refused to let her near his mouth. The dentist came over, was REALLY NICE, looked at his teeth for about 30 seconds, and then got up to move on. I had to stop him and ask , "How do they look, Doc? Any problems?" At which he directed me to buy a $20 tube of some kind of fluoride paste from their front desk; a paste that my son puts on his teeth after brushing, and SWALLOWS. (My son has never had a cavity.) On our second visit, when my son finally let his teeth be cleaned, I asked the dentist about the special toothpaste, and if he thought it was working. He didn't seem to remember prescribing it. So, that's a NICE little racket they've got going, to make a bit of extra cash off of their new patients. The friend who recommended this practice to me did say that they can be "condescending" to the kids. And, they are. The baby talk and the weird niceness and all the touchy feeley stuff is over the top. I guess it works, for some. But one can go too far with it, and cause more fear, than if one just said, in a normal authoritative way, "This is what we are going to do. It looks like this. If you are uncomfortable, let us know and we'll stop. Ok, let's go." Because as much as we all want our little precious snowflakes to never feel anything "bad", going to the dentist SUCKS. We all know it does. It is NOT fun, it will NEVER be fun, and sometimes life is just like that. That's why there is Dairy Queen and big chocolate covered ice cream cones; to make up for the crappy crap we endure sometimes. read more

This office took a horrible downturn after my first visit. The dentist had diagnosed my son as being tongue and lip tied, so I scheduled an appointment to go in and have those ties cut, thinking it might hinder his speech development. Seems like not a big deal right? I thought so too. First time I scheduled, they called less than 24 hours before and told me the dentist had an emergency and had to cancel. Considering I had taken time off of work and been prepping my son, this was pretty upsetting. They had absolutely no back up dentist to fill in. To top it off, they called and left a message saying this (I was in a meeting at work) and when I got out and tried to call them back, nobody answered. I was later told that since the dentist wasn't there, they didn't feel like they needed to be there. The time was 4pm. Personally I think if you just cancelled a bunch of appointments, it might be a good idea to stick around so you can answer calls from the people you canceled on. So I rescheduled the procedure for a couple weeks later. When we went in (this was another day off), the assistant seemed to have no idea what procedure we were doing when we were called back. Bad sign right? Then when we got back to the treatment room the doctor came in and didn't know either, so he had to re-examine my son to decide what should be done. Then proceeded to ask me if I we went to the pediatrician next door, and told us that he now wasn't comfortable doing the procedure until we had approval from our pediatrician! He said we could do the lip tie, but not the tongue tie. Cause I totally want to put my son through this twice!! I was livid.....and when we questioned this, he just came going "Well, ummmm......they've expressed some problems with us" and his assistant said they were "conservative in their treatment plans". I was astounded thinking....what does this have to do with anything?! So at that point I told them I wasn't comfortable with proceeding. They said okay, and then said *nothing* else. On our way out nobody spoke to us, no goodbye, no take care, no nothing. I immediately went to the pediatrician's office and asked what was going on. Our doctor said he had no idea, that he left decisions like that up to the specialist. However I did find out that one of the other doctors in the pediatricians office had spoken with the dentist because several parents had complained to him about how they were treated at the dentist. Moral of this story......a good first impression doesn't mean everything. Fun waiting room, terrible customer service and overall horrible experience. I'd also like to note that I found a new dentist to take my son to who said that there was nothing that needed to be done, and nothing would affect his speech. read more

Outstanding experience! Jesse Witkoff was extremely helpful with a special concern, lip tie and tongue tie issue. He listened to our concern and fixed the problem with specialized tooling and great care. This is something you must see a specialized doctor for and jesse is it. Lip ties can cause breast feeding issues and incoming teeth issues and tongue ties can cause breast feeding and speech issues among other things. The procedure was quick and easy and Jesse was great with the kids along with a cool office. Great office, very competent, quick resolve! The doctor personally called that night after some work was performed on my little girl to check on her, outstanding! read more

We love Dr. Jesse Witkoff and the entire team at "A Wild Smile". We loved our experience and wanted to share our story. With my first daughter, I breast fed for six months with painful bleeding, cracked, and blistered nipples. Even though I had the experience of being a Labor & Delivery nurse for six years, helping other women breastfeed their babies, I struggled. I assumed this was normal and that pain was part of nursing. I was discouraged and upset, but just assumed this was normal and that pain was part of nursing. Not wanting to give up, I sought the help of a wonderful lactation consultant, Amanda Ogden, during my second pregnancy. After listening to the difficulties I experienced with my first daughter, Amanda looked inside my daughter's mouth and noticed she had a severe labial tie and was not surprised by our struggles nursing. When my second daughter was born, I experienced all the same pain and discomfort while nursing her. It turned out she also had the labial tie, as well as a mild tongue tie. Off Amanda's recommendation, I called Dr. Jesse and made an appointment the day I arrived home from the hospital. His staff went out of their way to accommodate both girls and we had appointments for the next day. The procedure was unbelievably quick and easy. There were NO signs of pain or discomfort from either child (3 years old and 1 week old) post frenectomy procedure. I was shocked at how much of a difference it made. The blistering and bleeding stopped, and I could breast feed my newborn with out pain almost instantly! Words cannot express how grateful we are to have been referred to Dr. Jesse. Had I known of this possibility with my fist born, I could have saved myself a lot of struggle, disappointment, pain and perhaps avoided the need for formula supplementation. Brought my daughter in as my lactation consultant Amanda (who is amazing) from the Motherhood recommended them. The girls at the front were more than helpful and added me to a wait list as my apt was a week out. Melanie tried twice to get me in earlier. She is the kindest!! Finally when we came in to have the procedure it was quick. Kayana assisted me to begin with and we talked over a few things to ensure my baby girl does have the symptoms as I was questioning it. She listened to all my questions and was very friendly and patience throughout!! Dr. Jesse was kind and professional! Never felt rushed which is a huge factor with me especially with how busy this place is! I had the option to stay in the room or leave while they did the lip and tongue tie procedure. I stayed as I didn't want my little girl to be alone and wanted her to hear my voice throughout. It was comforting that they let you be with your little even though your heart is breaking when theyre crying. After 3/4 minutes the procedure was over I stayed in the room to nurse her. It felt so much better and I wasn't sure if it was due to numbness they put on her or the actual procedure that did it, however, once home and settled back into our lifestyle I now look forward to breastfeeding where as before I would be nervous and tense because of the discomfort on my breast/nipples. I'm very thankful and grateful! Dr. Jesse even called me that evening after the procedure to check in on little Dixie. What an awesome experience to have someone who cares and takes time out of there evening with there family to check in on yours! I highly recommend! read more

Wow!!!! That is what I feel about Dr. Rebecca and her staff. I have taken two children here over the past two years and it is hands down the best dental care I have ever been given and her team is amazing. Especially Kumara and Jessica, who have gone above and beyond in helping us with insurance issues, scheduling and even recommendations for dentists in the city we are moving to. I am a busy and scattered mom and really appreciate their reminder program. I have a 4 year old and a 14 year old and they both love the environment and treatment. I am really sad to leave their practice. Dr. Rebecca has a great manner with the kids, is thorough, and isn't out to gouge you for every penny she can get. She is a stellar example of her profession and runs a great practice. You couldn't find a better pediatric dentist! read more

For some reason, my six stars button does not seem to be working properly today. Took my seven-year-old here for his first dentist visit, and have never even considered going elsewhere since. Whether it is for routine cleanings, or a cavity filling, my son has always been well-cared (painlessly) for by Dr. Jesse and the staff. Dr. Jesse is very attuned to all of the latest research, and when I ask him about something that I had just read, he is never troubled by my bringing something new up. He is very understanding of my desires to limit exposure to X-rays and chemicals. I have never felt judged by him or his staff. Dentistry has evidently change A LOT for kids these days. Dr. Jesse has kept up with all of these changes. Why make your kids afraid of the dentist, when you can make them friends with their dentist? Why take your kids to a dentist that doesn't specialize in making the experience totally kid-friendly? For me, it is Dr. Jesse and the staff of A Wild Smile all the way! read more

My 11 yr old has been going here for over a year and my 1 yr old recently had his first check up. We have always been impressed with both Dr. Jesse and his staff. Everyone is so friendly and warm, it really makes a difference when you are getting your child used to the dentist. I so wish it was like this when I was a kid! The make going to the dentist an educational and fun experience and there is nothing scary about their place! It's all colorful and kid friendly. They have a big tree house type thing in the waiting room and games for the older kids. My son likes going just so he can hang out. He has never once complained about going to the dentist. Their staff is straightforward with treatment plans and billing and there are no surprises. You know what you are getting and you don't have to worry about the care your child is getting. Dr. Jesse and his team ROCKS. I took my 2.5 year old son for his first dentist appointment. I really wasn't expecting too much, I just wanted to get him familiar with the process and was hoping for a little professional back up for my "you'll rot your teeth" argument. The entire experience was wonderful from the start. They took his picture and gave him a passport. He went to the brushing station, check out the x-ray station and then to the cleaning chair. After a brief introduction to the tickle brush. He sat in the chair and let them clean his teeth. The process was made really fun and my son wanted more. Dr. Jesse did the exam and the fun continued. We'll be back in six months. Until then, he will continue brushing his teeth at least twice a day and flossing (he is now a bit obsessed). read more

This place has amazing staff who clearly know how to work with young and (potentially) terrified children! I took my 2-year old there today for a regular check-up, and was very anxious about it because he'd literally spent his pediatrician check-in the prior week just SCREAMING the whole time, and I was worried the same thing would happen at the dentist. Not at Wild Smile! Ms. Jahaira was just the best nurse - she showed my toddler all of the things that would happen, one at a time, in an entertaining but not over-the-top way, and didn't push when he was hesitant. There were many times when we did "Mommy's turn first, and now your turn!" and that was effective. She was able to get him to sit still with his mouth open while she brushed and flossed his teeth, and he sat much more calmly and for longer than I've been able to get him to do at home! Dr. Rebecca was also great, and she made some recommendations but was generally low-intervention in my opinion, which I appreciated. I highly recommend A Wild Smile! read more

I took my 8 week old son here after we discovered he had a tongue and lip tie, which were causing problems with his latch during breast and bottle feeding. When I first called, I was told they were booked out a few weeks but when I told the receptionist how old my son was, she asked if she could call me back in a few minutes. When she did, she said they rearranged their schedule for the following day so that we could get my son's ties revised ASAP! I couldn't have asked for any better care from the dentist and his staff. The assistant was wonderful with my son and the Dr did an excellent job with the procedure, he even called us the day after to check up and make sure everything was healing ok. Should be renamed "A Wicked Smile". Our family was flat out lied to when we were told our oldest had "the start of a cavity". I couldn't believe it, had my doubts knowing our family lifestyle & food/drink choices (no juice except bday parties,etc.), so we got the 2nd opinion & sure enough confirmed our oldest did not have the start of a cavity. We switched to a new pediatric dentist who ended up being our 3rd opinion & 2nd confirmation that Wild Smile lied to us (all to promote their $20 special paste that can "correct the start of a cavity" & to push us to get xrays since we were lied to & told she needs since she is "cavity prone"). Wild all right. In the worst sense. As a teacher, I have no tolerance for those who lie to gain from a child. Avoid this place. Great "atmosphere" to distract your kids & you about their monkey business. read more

DO NOT GO!!!! Everyone is very nice and I thought it was an ok dentist practice, at least for the first 3 visits but then everything went down hill. My child went in and they told us that he would have to have a very major filling, which would cost us $250 out of pocket. I got a second opinion at Southmoor Pediatric Dentistry and they did some scaling on my 5 year old. The "cavity" was actually a stain and tarter, which he scraped away, and there was no cavity present. I have defiantly moved dentists and we will not go back! read more

We pulled our 2 kids out of Wild Smile's dental care because Wild Smile was recommending unnecessary procedures and recommended unnecessary medications at the incorrect dosage. My child was afraid and in deep pain during various appointments. We also heard from other friends that were going to Wild Smile, of similar experiences. Our friends have pulled their kids out of this Dentists care as well. The Dentist also recommends MI Paste (a $20 tube of some kind of fluoride paste from their front desk). This seems to be a standard sell to all patients no matter their situation and we did not see any benefits after going through a lot of this paste and spending a lot of $. So, this is a little racket they've got going, to make a bit of extra cash off of their patients. So beware and don't buy it. I would never send anyone to this dentist read more
