The good: the salon was nice and the stylist (Ms. Brenda) is super sweet; she even had good reviews for doing natural hair (blowout and silk press). The awful: I was horribly mislead by these reviews because the experience was devastating. What knowledgeable stylist combs through dry, curly natural hair? Why no conditioning treatment? Why the multiple passes with a hot comb and flat iron after blow drying? It was just awful. I lost so much hair during this visit that I cried in the car on the way home. The breakage and heat damage is still to be determined but inevitable. It's my fault for not speaking up and now it's on me get my hair back to being healthy. read more

There was confusion on the booking, and she just came out and said, why don't you just go find another beautician... I got my hair done by Mrs. Brenda about three weeks ago. I wanted to wait until I washed my hair to give a full and honest review. I found this salon on yelp and decided to give it a try after reading all the great reviews. I had a great experience! I am fully natural with mid back length hair and that wasn't an issue for Brenda. She washed, deep conditioned, blew dry, straightened, and cut my hair. She did a great job!! She took her time and was gentle throughout the whole process. I was amazed how straight and healthy my hair looked when she was done. I was able to keep my hair straight for almost 3 weeks. I received so many compliments on my hair. I was a little nervous that I had heat damage, not because she used a lot of heat, but because she was able to get my hair bone straight. I've never had a stylist get my natural hair to get that straight and last for 3 weeks! That's why I wanted to wait to give a review to see if my curls would come back. They are back and are looking better than ever!!! No heat damage and my hair didn't shed as much as it usually does on wash days. I am completely satisfied with my experience. I will be returning! Not the place to have a sew in taken down or put in. I expected that combing out my hair would be touch but not that much. Tonya was combing out my hair from the roots out instead of from the ends and then going towards the roots. Doing so can and probably broke off the ends of my hair. Although the end product may have looked nice the hair is not securely attached as there are spacing between where she sowed and how the hair is attached. When you lift the hair up from the bottom is looks horrible, the netting is completely exposed and she placed the hair an inch higher than the bottom of the netted area. Overall, probably the worst experience in getting a sew in. My recommendation do not get your sew in done here! If you want a short hair cut, maybe this is the place to go. I have a very long and unfortunate Black American hair salon history. I get really nervous about setting an appointment with a new stylist because of this. Many concerns come to mind: 1-Will I be one of several customers being served at once, doubling or tripling my time at the shop? 2-Will the salon be professional? Ie, will the stylist actually be there when I arrive, and will they disappear without a trace with relaxer still processing on my head? 3-Will I be forced to endure ignorant trash talk my entire time there? 4-OH! Will they actually listen to what I want done, and will my hair be done well? 5-Will they accept credit cards? 6-Will I have to be hounded by various random people circling in the shop selling home cooked food, bootlegged, and / or stolen goods? 7-Will I be wheeled out on a stretcher by emergency services due to chemical burns on my head? (Now, this one--I saw someone else go through, but did not experience myself. Needless to say, it left an impression). 8-Will they pour sea breeze or some other unknown substance on my head after a relaxer, causing me to develop scabs on my scalp? (I mean like half the scalp is covered in protective crust, literally) I kid you not, this is just a vague and very incomplete list. . . Fortunately, concerns 1-8 were all unfounded at this salon. I received an email confirmation of my appointment, the stylist was ready for me when I arrived, and I did not have to share her with any other customers. I was happy with the way my hair turned out in the end. I'm just not too thrilled with the process itself. I felt the stylist was too rough with my hair, and just wanted to get it done, instead of being more gentle with it. To be fair, I was getting extensions removed and waited too long for an appointment which makes the process more difficult. However, I've waited longer before and have had much gentler take downs, which preserves more of the natural hair. I did not really say anything at the time because well. . . it's like with food. . . you don't want to upset someone whose working on your food for fear of what they might do to it. . . and given my unfortunate salon history explained above, having something terrible happening to my head in retaliation was not unreasonable in my mind. It worked out in the end, however. I decided not to return after that visit-- Sitting in that chair for hours just reinforced how much I don't want to do this anymore. I decided to go natural for the first time in life. Watch some YouTube, read some books, join a naturalista group. . . Save a TON of money, travel anywhere, move anywhere, without that dreaded question in my mind, "What will I do with my hair?" And so for this epiphany, I thank you. Thank you very much! read more

I can proudly say that I have been going to A Woman's Worth for over a year now, and I definitely cannot find myself going anywhere else. Tonya has been the best person to treat my hair. Since she has touched my hair, it has grown and is no longer in a state of havoc. She is a genuine and intelligent person. Unlike many hair stylists, she knows the true science behind hair. Worst service I could imagine. Very rude and non concerning for their clients. The Respect was very little too none honestly the stylist didn't even greet me. I was her first client and she did 2 heads ahead of me then charge me double the price because her boss didn't know she was giving out deals and she still f*****d my hair up, Glue all on my forehead and she didn't want to fix it. I called the day before and spoke to Tanya, the owner, about my hair and how I wanted to look fly when I was done. Well, Tanya did not disappoint. Until now, I was missing my hair stylist, Neeko (he's known for giving Halle Berry the pixie cut), from Cali. Not anymore!! Tanya is fierce and she has magic hands -- cut, coloring and fabulous style. On top of that she keeps it real with what you can expect. A week and a few days after getting my natural hair blown out and flat ironed, I am still getting compliments. I found this Salon after arriving in Tampa from NYC for my grandmother's funeral. From booking the appointment, to the entire process and finished product, Eureka was absolutely wonderful. She knows exactly what she is doing and is gifted at her craft. My hair is insanely thick; yet she she did not complain. She took her time washing it perfectly, blow drying it in sections and flat ironing to perfection. What may have normally take other stylists all day, took her less than 2 hours. For a challenging week emotionally, this wonderful salon blessed me incredibly. Everything you'd want in a salon! They started on my hair as soon as I arrived. They didn't over schedule so I wasn't sitting under the dryer longer than necessary. Very professional. Reasonable prices. I knew I wanted a hair cut but I wasn't sure of the style. The stylist was really helpful and patient while helping me figure it out. I switched styles twice. I have been coming here for 2 years and I will never utilize another salon while I reside in Florida. My hair is healthier, stronger, & I couldn't be more pleased! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE & NEGATIVE ATTITUDE I rarely ever write reviews but I feel compelled to share my experience. A Woman's Worth Hair Studio is a well maintained salon located in a good area. Salon Owner and Stylist Tonya is a solid, versatile stylist. I have traveled extensively while in the military, and as a military spouse. Therefore, comparatively speaking, this is an average African American Beauty Salon. I have had my hair styled at this salon by Tonya on at least three occasions and I have no issues with Tonya's work as a hair stylist. Tonya has stated that she wants to cater to "bourgeois black people." I guess this means she wants to target/develop a client base of upper middle class to rich black people. This is her prerogative as a business owner but her statement was a little off putting for various reasons that shall go unnamed in this particular review. Nevertheless, I do take issue with the level of professionalism and the way I was treated during my last visit this past week. A day prior to my appointment, I called Tonya to consult with her about a particular style/color with weave highlights in my short hair cut. I was preparing for an out of town special event that I would be attending. Tonya stated the day prior it would be o.k. When I arrived for my appointment Tonya had a very dry attitude, and acted as if she didn't want to even style my hair. Further, Tonya made negative comments about me, and not wanting to do weave which were masked in jokes for the whole salon to hear. In addition,Tonya talked negatively about other clients, (with another stylist in the salon) while she was styling my hair. It appeared that Tonya was having a bad day. I get it. We all have bad days. However, I should be able to get my hair styled without being made to feel embarrassed or like I have to "beg and pay you too" as a client. Further, for the money I am paying, and the amount that is being charged, customer service should be paramount. I should not be belittled or made to feel like a burden to the stylist, especially after I consulted with the stylist prior to this appointment. I am sure Tonya has many satisfied clients in the area. However, due to the lack of professionalism, and the way I was treated as a client patronizing this business, I will NEVER spend my hard earned money with Tonya or in this salon again. read more

This has been quite possibly the WORST experience I've ever had in my LIFE. First of all, the advertisement on their website doesn't match their actual skills in the salon which are minimal at best!! I just paid Brenda $70 for a shampoo, trim ends, & flat iron. She initially tried to charge me $80 until I showed her on my confirmation that the original price was $70. I paid for a basic style and didn't get it. Since when is using a flat iron considered a basic style?! My biggest issue is I left the salon have received FAR LESS than what I paid for. I just moved from Atlanta where when women do hair so well they can almost do it with their feet. To come here and get a $70 shampoo job that I sweated out less than 10 minutes after leaving the salon. Not to mention, MY HAIR IS STILL DIRTY!!! Now I have to make another appointment at a different salon to rewash my hair. It isn't about price for me at all. I don't appreciate receiving a less quality service than what I paid for.
