Great experience. Went in with a previously bad color job by another hair stylist. Penny really dug into the multiple colors. She was honest from the get go about the potential of results due to previous work, and best ways do approach without causing further hair damage. The results were better than we hoped for so would definitely recommend. The followup roots touch up appt went well, but I did notice color staining around my hairline that wasn't removed and a few grays that didn't get product on it, so seems like attention to detail was a bit amiss. Would still return. The establishment is undergoing a redesign so it was a bit of a mess, but that's just champagne problems. My only feedback would be of another stylist there with a very strong cigarette odor could cause anyone with sensitivities to reconsider visiting this establishment. read more

It was not straight, a mean- a bob is a straight line, not complicated, and she took a chunk out of the front right side and said, "Oops, my bad." An odd location for a salon, but the inside has a fun vibe. Front desk check in is very efficient and the staff is friendly for the two visits I've had here. The price for a cut and blow dry is pricier than what I paid in California when I lived there recently, especially if you tip generously, so I'm deducting a star for economy. My stylist, Penny, knows her craft and works bouncy, fun curls back into my hair using her knowledge of hair type and texture. This salon uses Deva hair products for curly hair, which I like. Not happy with the results. The salon was not very clean, the two ladies smelled a lot like cigarettes and she over bleached my hair and I was under the heater for a very long time. Afterwards I noticed immediately that my hair was breaking and the super bleached highlights were literally breaking off and now I had all these flyaways. I had also asked for subtle natural highlights and she put one big chunk highlight right by my face. Not my style and I won't return. read more

I was hesitant to write a review and really wish they let you give have half stars as I feel this is exactly 2.5 (right in the middle). I'm going to go for the sandwich affect ..good...bad...good. First Slice of Bread: They are on time with appointments and offer a nice welcome bag as a first time customer. The location is clean and they offer complimentary beverage. Middle: Terrible finish. When you go to a salon and you leave after over $200...that should be the one day that you are feeling on top of the world bc your hair is done perfectly and all you need to do is get dressed and fix your makeup. This was not the case. I hated the finish...it looked very frizzy and unkept. With all the Deva products that you have...I do not feel the stylist used enough of them or knows how to actually put product in curly hair. It takes ALOT of moisture...curls are thirsty and if you don't squeeze in that product while it's dripping wet...you get frizz. My stylist also dropped the scissors on her toe (hope she is okay) and after she bandaged...she went right back to cutting. All I could think about what...its there blood in my hair or perhaps a piece of toe skin as the scissors were not washed/replaced. Sigh...sometimes I'm too quiet for my own good. Curls should be defined...separate... and have a polished look if you cut and apply product correctly. Last Slice of Bread: Nice people, the cut and color turned out nice. She did exactly what I asked when it came to color and didn't cut off too much. Final Thoughts: If you want cut or color for curly and you are okay with going home to actually style it with product..then you will be fine. BUT over $200 and still having to go home to style...is not my first choice on New Years Eve. I wish them the best, but curly friends...be prepared. read more

I found Rock Your Locks via yelp by searching hair salons. I knew I wanted a pixie cut, but as I had never had one before, I was nervous to find the right place. RYL proved to be it! I have been twice now to have my hair cut (1 cut, 1 trim). The place is clean and they even offer you beverages with a RYL coozie. I only have two caveats I took away a half star for this. The woman who cuts my hair does well and has good conversational skills, however she smokes and her hands have a strong nicotine smell. It isn't my favorite and honestly if she did not do such a good job on my hair, I would go elsewhere. She washes her hands plenty but the smell still lingers. Oh and another half star lost is really not their fault, but still affects me every time I go. There is zero cell service in their place. They do offer free WiFi for customers, but I am not one to connect to open networks. While it is nice to unplug now and again, I still like to be reachable for emergencies. read more

I was so happy when I came here a year and a half ago that I gave them a 5 star review. The last time I came here Tina was so far behind schedule that someone else washed my hair and only because I was perturbed that I had an appointment and was waiting forever past my appointment time. Well it happened again today, and this is after they send you an email and a text reminding you that you have an appointment and need to be there. I showed up 10 minutes early and wasn't surprised someone was still in Tina's chair. After that person left, at 1:33, they put someone else in her chair and it was a consult on what style she wanted, etc. I went up and asked if this person was before me and the answer was yes. I am sorry, but my time is valuable too. I would have been there an additional 30-45 minutes. Why schedule appointments if you can't keep them? This is the only salon I have ever been to where this happened. I won't be back. read more

My hairdresser is Megan and she is 10/10 i came to her with half black half gray hair that I hadn't kept up with and she got me back on track. She is also the only person in the area I trust to cut my hair. She always does my layers perfect. Most recently we did a super bright pink w/ rainbow and half black. I came here because of the rave reviews. What a mistake. They want you to sign a contract as soon as you get there. Then they try to rack up a bill while you're there and add it to said contract. She offered to remove my cloth mask and sell me a paper mask for $2.00 if I didn't want dye on it. (The new salon I went to after, the stylist offered one for free.) The stylist never had me pick out a hair color; she just guessed... and I received a lot of comments from friends and family members about how bad it made me look, saying I could have box dyed it for the same effect. Only I wouldn't have paid almost $300 for it. We discussed my having a bunch of Redken shampoo and conditioner already, and she agreed those products are good and she approved because I bought them from a salon. But at the end, she was pushy about her brand of products and insisted they were what I really needed. Other things were she smelled heavily of cigarettes, and seemed like she was more a salesperson than a stylist. It was one dig into my wallet after another. Tiring and stressful for just wanting my hair dyed. I would never recommend this place, unless maybe seen by the owner. She seemed nice. I was told it would be $57 which I was willing to pay for a good cute cut and style. First of all she kept calling me ma'am instead of calling me by my name. When she got done I knew right away she cut my bangs way to short and when I got home noticed my hair was shorter on one side than the others. I am very picky when it comes to who handles my hair. I have had too many bad experiences to not be wary. I decided to trust the reviews online and call about getting a wash, trim & bangs, and blowout. The person that answered the phone was so helpful, asking me when an appointment would be convenient for ME instead of just spouting out the first available date. She was very courteous and helpful about explaining the prices. I was set up with Rebekah and she was amazing! She talked, asking me questions about what I wanted and about my hairs history (which I have never had a stylist do). I was very nervous as I wanted something that seemed simple but I have surprisingly had messed up a few times by stylists. Rebekah did an amazing job!!! I have found HOME! You know how when you move to a new state, and you can't find your beauty person because all of the reviews are fake news and they are really just meh? So you end up spending $140 on someone that you'll never see again, just to start your search again in six weeks when your pixie becomes yet another mullet? Yeah, me too. (Heart eye emoji) She has cotton candy pink hair, a thick Alabama accent, and is super engaging during the whole process. I've been to her twice. Once for a trim, once for some highlights. Always a little skeptical of hair salons. I have long, curly hair and a lot of it! I always spend a good chunk of time in the chair explaining my hair history and the struggles/concerns I have in addition to the style I'm aiming for. Linda knocked it out of the park! She took one look at my inspiration picture, adjusted things for my hair specifically, and did everything with quick confidence. I struggle with damaged hair ends when it gets so long, and hair stylists are quick to tell me what products I should use or they try to tell me it's not damaged at all. Linda knew exactly what I was talking about and agreed I was due for a trim. She made it healthy and beautiful again. She did recommend some products but when I voiced concerns about use of plastic and expensive products she listened and gave more recommendations. She also listened to hair styles I love to do frequently and showed me a few ways I could style my new hair! This place isn't flashy on the outside but everybody inside was friendly. Everything was neat and everybody wore masks and kept their distance the best they could. It was comfortable and new customers got a small welcome bag. Plenty of parking, easy to find. I recently moved and have been postponing to do my hair because well let's face it, it's hair and you need to find the right place to have it done right. I yelped multiple places and I saw a lot of great reviews about this place so I figured let's give it a try. I read wonderful reviews about Penny and so I had a consultation with her last week. When I first walked in, I already a good feeling about this place. The way the salon is decorated and it's environment went with my personality and style. I'm the type of person that gets bored easily and I tend to make changes frequently, particularly with my hair. Those that know me, have seen my hair in many colors. I recently change jobs hence the move here and so I have to be a bit more practical with my hair just to be safe. I also wanted to try and avoid dying my hair so frequently since I've been doing so for the past 8 years and so I decided to go back to natural color with highlights. I showed Penny a picture of what my hair originally looked like prior to years of dying and she said it can be done. I went today for my scheduled appointment and boy did she deliver. I can officially say that I found my hairstylist. Penny not only did a great job but she made me feel comfortable. I highly recommend her and Rock your locks hair salon. Well apparently Rock your locks owners has decided to ignore my request for a refund on this mess they've created with my hair. Im not even sure it can be corrected at this point. My hair is supposed to be reversed ombre gray on top blended with black on the bottom! My hair has consistently been copperish and blondish with brown! My hairdresser did try a correction on it at no charge about 2 weeks ago but it still looks like garbage and my hair is breaking off! Im surprised to be treated this way, especially being that I've spent over $800 since May! Also I want to note the laura, the owner attempted to "fix" my hair and actually turned it blue, they had to wash it 4 times to get it out, and it still had a blue tint. Love this place. I needed to find a new salon as I was extremely frustrated by the overturn at the salon I went to previously. I could never get the same hairdresser twice! I'd had a hairdresser for quite some time, but she moved out of state. I really hesitated to change salons, but I am so glad I did. I went to see Patti. My hair is very straight and fine. Patti carefully listened to what I wanted and made suggestions of her own. I had a partial foil and haircut. They turned out really great. I had a few issues leftover from a past stylist, and Patti suggested ways to correct them. Then she did her thing and my hair turned out great. The salon itself is adorable. It is upscale without being stuffy. The staff is very nice and all of the hairdressers seem happy to be there. So nice to find another salon without the "salon drama"! Thanks Patti!
