I have had hair extensions from multiple different salons across the country and this has been my worst experience. Was very excited to get my hair done and have it look good. Asked that my hair was not dyed and the extensions were matched to my hair color. She continued to tone my hair and add extensions that did not match my hair color. For 1800 I would think the stylists want their clients hair to look good. Sitting down in the salon it was unnoticeable with the way my hair was styled. As soon as I got home, I could see a blunt cut of my own hair, no layering of the extensions, and overall a huge disappointment. Two weeks into having the hair extensions, they would not blend, they pulled very heavy on my scalp, and the color difference was extremely noticeable. Being young, and hair extensions a luxury, I don't think this salon is a good place to go if you are looking for satisfactory results. In the picture I provided, you can see the difference in my hair color and the extensions, as well as the very blunt cut of the extensions. If a stylist can not recognize the difference in tone, I don't think they should be color matching clients. The next appointment I had them taken out and the salon offered to put new hair extensions in my head for 2300$. I have nothing but great things to say about Monaco Salon and Damaris, my stylist. I originally started going to Monaco on S. Dale Mabry about 5 years ago (1 year after moving to Tampa from New York). I had a traumatic hair chopping experience with my 1st stylist in Tampa then decided to continue to fly back to NJ for visits with family and for hair appointments until I could find a stylist in Florida that I could trust. Damaris was a God send. She is so personable and is an expert in hair and color! She improved my super short haircut and we both just patiently waited for it to grow to a decent length again. We've plated around with colors and balayage since then until we found a color I truly loved. She's very familiar with my hair issues due to alopecia and autoimmune thyroid condition, so she pays extra attention to the how my hair is doing and is always meticulous with everything she does. She's also so friendly and personable. To start, I have extremely thin hair and it breaks the minute I comb it or pull it back in a ponytail. The saying, "you always want what you don't have," has been my reality when it comes to my hair. I have always been self conscious about my appearance especially in social settings. All of my family pics consists of me either wearing hats or my hair is up in a ponytail. I have always felt invisible for most of my adult life until I finally decided to invest in me. I have always been a huge skeptic of hair extensions especially after 20 + years of horrific salon nightmares and people just saying my hair was too thin for extensions. Do not trust this salon. They ruined my hair!! This is the salon that destroyed my hair. I moved from San Diego, CA and came in with beautiful curly surfer long hair and the stylist chopped off my hair and gave me an uneven bob. He was so jealous. I came in with beautiful long hair and the hair dresser did a bad job cutting off all my hair and doing it in a bad technique. My hair is not happy. His name is Billy and I wouldn't trust this place with anything. He was most likely jealous of me and my hair, which is crazy why would you have a jealous hair dresser working at your salon? He definitely cut my hair very bad, I can see it and feel it. It looks like a 13 year old grab some scissors and chopped off my hair. He did not add any waves, texture or style. He literally just cut off all my good hair and left with the roots. What a bad person he is. Karma is real. Good thing is. No bad hair cut will make me look bad, and I have already scheduled my appointment with a professional who is going to fix it by cutting it with style and texture in Hollywood.CA. I have lived in 3 states and having to find some that understands my unique hair is unheard of. This is something that stresses any women out. I even flew back to CO for years because I couldn't find anyone I could trust. My hair though was still not up to pair I didn't love it, until I found Kaysie and Damaris. Clients beware!! I've been getting my extensions done there for the past year and all 3 times I assumed I was getting Great Lengths hair. Unbeknownst to be it couldn't of been because Great Lengths only uses Keratin bonds. Before Monaco I was getting my extensions done at another salon and it always only took about 15 mins to remove the extensions with the keratin solution. I couldn't understand why at Monaco the removal was always horrendous. It would take 2 stylists about an 1 1/2 pulling and tugging with me losing a lot of my own hair with them saying that was only natural. That we would lose that amount normally over the course of the time that the extensions were in my hair. I wasn't happy with the last batch of extensions that was applied and honestly feel like it wasn't even ordered for me. The color was off, the texture didn't feel like it was human hair (more like synthetic hair) and the bonds Krista used were like none I've ever experienced. They were big, thick and clumpy. After forking out about $1000 for the hair and the service I kept them in for 3 months to try and get my monies worth and had my old stylist from another salon remove them yesterday. This is where the nightmare begins. It took her 4 hrs to remove the extensions because they weren't keratin bonds at all, they looked like hard plastic which was stuck to each extension that then was glued to my hair. I have patches of hair that has been cut out for who knows how long since it's been hidden all this time. The stylists who have removed the extensions from Monaco obviously had a really tough time getting them out the 3 times I'd been there so they just decided to cut patches of my own hair out which is why the removals were always so painful. The worse part however is Krista always put the extensions in so she had to of seen this and just didn't care to tell me as well as load my head with glue. So much for being the best extension salon in Tampa. It'll take years for that hair to grow out and the money I spent there obviously didn't mean a thing for the owner to do what she did to me and could of cared less. I expressed this to them, mind you I'm not due for a maintenance until May 31st HOWEVER, my hair is knotted so badly and the hair is falling out and this is prior to maintenance!!! I have to say I'm extremely disappointed as I have spent thousands of dollars here . Demaris is extremely talented and credit will not be taken from her. Aside from that, after removing the Monaco hair hand tied from my welting, irritated scalp on the side Krista tied it to after two weeks, she "did me a favor " by replacing my $750 hand tied hair extensions that were on my head for 2 weeks before I couldn't wait to have them taken out with $400 hot head tape in extensions . Thank you ? I guess. There was no accommodation although she thought she'd make me feel that way. I came into the salon less than a year ago and spent $2500 on bonds that ripped out my hair after three months. After the bonds, I thought the hand tie would be a good option . Well it would have been but who charges over $600 to tie hair into a head after the initial quote was $350. They are definitely a south Tampa rip off . Just because they are pricey doesn't mean they are good . I have no problem spending the money I just expect what I pay for. The final straw for me was last week after my push-up I was extremely unhappy with because it was put back in my head crooked and looks like I cut it myself . After a text to Krista when I left with tears in my eyes over the way I looked I would assume she would have been more accommodating . She had a manager I have never met before call me to say they would refund $135 and we can "part ways". I texted Krista to tell her I didn't even think that was an option as I have been loyal to that salon and even bring my fiancé to the other Monaco for cuts and color . Needless to say, Don't go here unless you want to be overcharged and under appreciated as a customer. They pass you around and take the whole day up if you slightly show signs of kindness because the other yuppy clients come first. So my second visit I was so excited to go back to get my locks back to fantastic again!DIDN'T HAPPEN!! Consistency is everything when it comes to my hair!! To start, my partial highlights were over processed so it was not the same as the first visit; bangs were trimmed with just a straight cut across the forehead at a length much shorter than I prefer instead of the "fancy" fringe cut I got the first time. That is a true testimate to how highly they value customer service. This not only remains true at the new location, but it is decorated so nicely and is in a great location! I have received numerous different types of services from Monaco, ranging from three different types of extensions, hair cuts, color, waxing, and hairstyling. Krista and Marissa and the rest of the staff have been very patient with me especially since I am very self conscious about the thickness of my hair. The first appointment I made had to be rescheduled because they somehow overbooked. Ok fine. I was rescheduled and went in the next day with someone else. Parking was horrendous, but nothing they can really control. Let me just start out by saying that I have lived all over this country and I have NEVER been charged so much for my hair. I'm used to paying 250-400 max for my hair. That includes color ( highlights ) and a cut. I walked out of here paying close to $600 and that was without the haircut. That would of been an extra $97. I was in shock! But I agreed because I was already there and needed my hair done. I showed the stylist a picture and to pay 600 dollars you would think she would come close to the picture but she didn't. I left in tears because I paid so much money for my hair to look no different than when I walked in! Other than that the stylist was super nice and sweet. I didn't say anything to her because I'm non confrontational and didn't want to hurt her feelings but I won't be going back. She was also overbooked and left me to go start on someone else. For YEARS I've been flying from Los Angeles to Tampa to see Krista. Clearly there's a plethora of amazing salons & stylists in LA so that should speak volumes about how exceptional this salon is. I've broken down & tried other extension stylists in LA to reduce my travel but truly noone compares and Krista is ALWAYS my first choice and who I go back to. I've worked with many different exceptional makeup artists and hairstylists for work and can't tell you how many times they have commented that my extensions are the best they've ever seen. When returning to the phone, she said her office manager was out of town, not knowing when she would be back. If I wanted to call back at a later date...I was welcome to do so. No consultation option or offer of meeting. Just straight rude. I want to review the Monaco Salon specifically for their highly rated KERATIN TREATMENT. Last year I had it done there and was satisfied so I checked the web site and made an appointment. The treatment NOT WORK and left my hair in worse condition. It cost met time, money and I was not ready for the vacation I was preparing for. After 2 weeks, we did some problem solving on the phone and it finally came out that they no longer use Marcia Treixeria products. This despite Marcia Treixeria being prominently displayed on their website and elsewhere. They still have it up.
