I was a long time customer of A1; a move on my part made it difficult to get there, but I recently discovered the shop had also moved, much closer to my current residence. Wednesday I went there to tell them about a suspected brake issue; Lance, the owner, remembered me and we made an appointment for yesterday to have him look at the brakes. Yes, brakes and rotors needed immediate replacement and he and his staff did it right away. Wow. I was absolutely blown away by their quick, professional action, and the price was on target; but to me, knowing from many past experiences with Lance that I could trust him was even more important. Great communicators I had a tiny house on wheels and needed to get it all checked out before a major thousand-mile move. While searching for trailer repair places, A1 popped up and they were super helpful on my initial call. I dropped my trailer off and Jeremy was assigned to the task. He advised as to what was right and what was wrong, and gave me an honest estimate of the (cost) damage. We got the wheels swapped and everything greased up with proper lighting in quick order and I was able to get it moved without issue to it's new resting place. It's the only place I will ever go for any and all repairs. I started with them when they were on Lincoln in West Allis and was so sad to see them move,but understood they needed more room.Even though it's a drive, I wouldn't go anywhere else!!! Lance is a really nice guy who knows his way around a car. He has repaired both mine and my boyfriends SUVs multiple times and is always fast, efficient, affordable and honest. He's the guy I trusted to quickly help us when we had a laundry list of necessary repairs (new radiator, new hoses, new tires, alignment, struts and sway bars) pop up just four days before a week long 500 mile road trip! When my boyfriend got into a costly accident with a boat load of front end & tire damage, Lance did everything he could to help us save as much money as possible and was honest with us on what repairs were necessary and what could wait. This was the best experience I've ever had at a car repair place. I booked an appointment thinking I had a bad tie rod end and was given a really reasonable quote to have it replaced. When I brought the car in it turns out the tie rod was still within spec but the front rotors were warped. He could've done the tie rod end and then said I needed brakes as well and I'd never have been the wiser, but he was very honest and straightforward about what had to be done. We initially thought the brakes may have been part of the problem and we were planning to replace them when we found time, so I had the parts in the trunk from an earlier trip to O'Reilly. When he called to say I didn't need the tie rod ends and did need new rotors I told him about the parts and he was kind enough to install them for just over $80. My husband and I are what I'd call advanced amateurs in car repair - we'll do our own oil and brake changes when we have time, and we used to do a lot of work on 2000's GM powertrains at the street-legal performance level. We replaced/upgraded a lot of engines and transmissions back in the day. With kids and jobs and a house, and with cars requiring more particular tools and techniques, and the fact that we aren't all that great at diagnosing the day-to-day problems of an aging daily driver, we've been on the lookout for a repair shop we can rely on when we need help. Based on this first experience and the other reviews I've read, I'm pretty sure we've found our place. read more

I was quoted almost $500 for rear brakes from a dealership, which I thought was a little unreasonable. I checked around few places like some of the major repair chains, and was not satisfied with some of the reviews posted. So I searched for independent repair shops and came across A 1. There are a lot of positive reviews so I took a chance. Lance was very helpful and accommodating with great customer service. I dropped my vehicle off on the 4th even though A1 was closed so I could get a second opinion. I followed up with the next morning (5th) and Lance explained everything to me that would be needed. I did not feel pressured or like he was trying to get over on me. The work was completed later that day, and I will be back for future services. First off, I love that you can schedule an appt online. My AC died on Saturday, and of course no one was open. I was able to schedule an appointment for first thing Monday morning thru their website. Lance, the owner, was thorough and was able to check my AC within a couple hours of me dropping it off. He explained to me in layman's terms what was wrong, and what he needed to do to fix it. Unfortunately my compressor was shot, but he apologized he couldn't fix it same day! I was thinking a week or more - he had it done the next afternoon. His entire staff was friendly and the price was super reasonable. I had another car with a similar problem a few years ago and paid double what Lance quoted me. Lance did a PHENOMENAL job keeping our auto repairs under budget. We needed a lot of work done and he's a good man and a thorough mechanic. He has had many opportunities to hose me with over-priced work, but instead has gone out of his way to get us more than we asked for. I give them the highest of recommendations. I needed to have a muffler and tail pipe replace. No offers under $300 dollars.Lance replaced it for $150 and also found i had a bad battery. Gave me the option to pick up my own. As a female, it's difficult to find a good mechanic who's willing to be fair and honest. I saw the stellar online reviews that A-1 has though and decided I would take my chances. I wasn't disappointed. The employees were not only very friendly, but also very honest. I took my car in to A-1 for an oil change, radiator flush, and transmission flush. Lance took me in to the garage, walked me through certain functions of my vehicle's engine, and explained to me all of the reasons as to why he didn't feel my vehicle needed the transmission or radiator flush and recommended that I not spend the extra money if it wasn't necessary. I was impressed, and I would recommend this place to anyone who's looking for an honest, reliable, and friendly mechanic. The shop does get busy though, so I suggest calling ahead for availability. I love this place, and the next time I need any maintenance done on my vehicle, A-1 will be the first place I call. read more

My father sent me to A1. The owner quoted me about $325. When my car was done it was only $285. I asked him why it was less, he said "it didn't take as long as I expected".
