My technician arrived right on time and his name was Ethan Chenault. Ethan was first class all the way. He performed a 29-point inspection of my entire garage door system and shared with me in great detail all the components and their function. Ethan then worked up a quote and I agreed on the spot to have the work performed that same day. I ended up getting an all-new motor, brackets, springs, keypads, rollers, etc. When I tell you I could not be happier it's the God's honest truth. In a post COVID world having a TRUE PROFESSIONAL in 2024 is like a breath of fresh air. A1 Door charges a high premium and in my opinion it's worth every penny. The icing on the cake was when my wife came home and was more fascinated by the new door than I was. She found it remarkable that the same door and rail system could magically become so QUIET. We both kept saying to one another "Can you believe this is the same door?" My old LiftMaster was from 1999 and had a great life. My new garage door is the quintessential leap into the 21st century. My new LiftMaster has a camera, an app for my phone, and external keypad entry. I get notifications when the door is open and closed and I can view activity in the garage in real time. We attended the Richmond Home and Garden show and set up an estimate with this company we told them where we lived asked if they serviced the area and that we traveled just a little over an hr to get to show. Brandon came out today for the estimate this is also the gentleman we spoke to at the show. Brandon gave his estimate which was higher then what he quoted us at the show, I asked why his response was because of where you live we would have to charge the extra for travel to your home, I told him we discussed this before we set up the appointment for the estimate so I feel it was a bait and switch, why would I pay their company to travel to me for me to spend my money with their company. had they told us this at the show we could have saved their time and ours, so they wasted money traveling to us.....just be aware read more

I called to schedule an appointment to change my current garage opener (chain) to a new garage opener (belt) after a previous company fell through. They were available to install the next day. The day of the appointment, they called to let me know they had an earlier opening if that would work for me. While it did not, I appreciated how they reached out to ask. The installation itself was quick and painless. Our tech was very knowledgeable and personable. He did a fantastic job. He even reprogrammed our old remotes to work with the new opener. My garage door broke, would not go up so I called several vendors when A1 Door was refered on Next Door. I called them after noon and spoke to Megan. She was able to arrange for a tech to come by today. Jason showed up inspected the issue and went straight to work. Incredible technical ability and made quick work for a coversion for my door to traditional spring setup. The work was fairly priced and done quickly. Update I was very impressed that the owner contacted me to apologize for what happened and I got the impression that he will take steps to prevent something like this from happening in the future. I got a full refund in the mail. Perhaps this was an isolated incident. Incompetent and dishonest The service people that arrived didn't bother to check the garage door before they started working on it and the door stopped working again a few days later. We were told that it was "probably" the spring which is the one obscure thing that our home warranty doesn't cover and if they were to come out again that they would charge us again. We called Garage Door Geeks who fixed it the first time, the same day, for cheaper. The problem was actually faulty wire not the spring. read more

Wouldn't recommend them...I have a $600k home and the work they performed was that of a trailer park. I had (2) 16 x 7 doors installed and the first crew acted like it was their first time installing doors..the trim on the outside was crooked, tap screws were left all over the garage floor after they left, doors were damaged, and trash was left on site. Luckily I was able to monitor them as they worked to call out all of the errors on the damaged doors and poor trim execution. If I was present they put would have installed without any compassion. read more

I called other services before A-1 around my area and they didn't service my area although they were located 4-6 miles away from my house. Updated: Ryan Grant (CEO) reached out to me and made this right. That's all I can ask for. I chose this company based on the good reviews. (Good service, fair, etc) I do not agree with them however. Turns out someone had simply kicked the sensor and caused my door's electronic eye to be out of alignment. This means there was absolutely nothing to fix other than to kick the sensor back into place. I understand that I still have to pay the visit charge for my own stupidity, but then the technicians said they were going to "do a quick check up" on my door before they left. Well, somehow that checkup added $10 to my visit charge without informing me. Then the technicians talked to me like I was a child on how to avoid these charges in the future if I simply had kicked the sensor into place on my own, because he doesn't like to rip people off! Too bad it doesn't stop him from doing exactly that! I know it's only $10, but 1) their $99/hour rate is higher than most and 2) The $10 to "lube" the door that was working fine WITHOUT DISCLOSURE ahead of time is unacceptable. The office backed him up and didn't care that I was upset either. They can take my money this time and I'll do my homework better when I need someone in the future. Buyer beware. They are a business that will get the job done just fine, but don't expect good customer service to be part of the experience. They just lost a customer over $10. read more
