I contacted True Handyman because I have a bunch of little jobs that need doing - truly a handyman situation. Their estimator arrived, late. He looked things over, expressed some concerns that the work might be slightly involved, and said he would have to discuss the job with the owner. Days later I received a nice, polite email saying they would be unable to help me. Quite literally thanks for nothing. There are plenty of companies in this area with the name "Handyman" in the title. so long as you want gutter guards installed or a bathtub insert, they are good to go. Try finding a true handyman in the Richmond area and you will be very disappointed. read more

Jason is great! He came to check out a possible roof leak at my house and to repair my back storm door which had torn from the hinges. The door seemed irreparable, but somehow Jason was able to fix it and I didn't have to buy a new one! For the roof leak, Jason went up on my roof numerous times and also checked inside my attic - ultimately he confirmed that there's no longer an issue with the roof and saved me money by not charging me for unnecessary repairs! Jason of True Handyman LLC restored our dog ramp and completed a list of small projects with skill and efficiency. Most insulting contractor I have ever encountered. I had him estimate a couple small jobs in my home. After sitting in his truck in my driveway for an unusually long time, he finally came back in. Then he revealed that some assistant had nosed into the deed to my home, and he started asking intrusive questions about my personal business. Even worse he implied that since he did not understand who owns my home that somehow I was not to be trusted to pay him. Of all the flaming nerve!!! I have hired dozens of contractors for much bigger jobs and never once had one behave this way. The only reason a contractor would be so interested in something like that is because he often has clients who don't want to pay him. The usual reason for that is dissatisfaction with the work done. I would not hire this character if he was the last contractor on earth. Steer clear! His response: more errors and insults. He still does not understand, but thinks he has it all figured out. He's using some generic cookbook and lacks the experience to know what he's talking about or to ask a lawyer before insulting a customer. Arrogance, plain and simple. Hiring this guy is a sure fire recipe for trouble. BTW - I'm not a renter, and there will be a complaint to yelp for posting my personal business publicly. read more

Kind of an odd review because True Handyman hasn't done any work for me (yet), but they have already saved me money twice over! I called True Handyman based on the content of their positive Yelp reviews (IMO, the one negative review was nonsense). Jason Bond, True Handyman's owner, came himself. He listened attentively, and patiently (I tend to ramble), offered practical suggestions, told me where he felt something was an issue and where it wasn't. Jason felt that one of the jobs I wanted done was larger in scope (combo major masonry work and landscaping) and one more specialized (slate roof repair) than areas he chooses to focus on. He not only provided me recommendations for vendors, but IMMEDIATELY phoned them--and each vendor phoned me within a half-hour. I have already met the first vendor--a lovely man, with many years of experience--and am thrilled at his affordable roofing rate. Further, as Jason had predicted, he recommended a particular type of gutter guard and said he would be willing to mount them. And this type is less expensive than the others I was considering--again, saved money, thanks to Jason! Re: work True Handyman may do, Jason and I discussed addressing a beastly hot side porch with either roof venting or polycarbonate awnings. If I can locate awnings that meet my requirements, I will definitely call on True Handyman and Jason Bond. : ) read more

Jason (from True Handyman) has got to be the most honest, knowledgeable, and trustworthy person I know. I had True Handyman came to replace a drywall - had a mold problem with my bathroom drywall around the fan area. I had a few other businesses come to look at the problem but just told me it was probably due to condensation. True Handyman went out of their way to look at my attic and finally identified the root cause of my problem! For the last couple of years, no one seem to figure out what was wrong, turns out I had a small leak from the roof! I am so glad that I had Jason come out to look. The problem could have gotten much worse! I highly recommend Jason for all your handyman needs and I'll be using his services for everything that needs fixing in my home! Update. Spoke with the business owner (Jason) whom truely seemed geniunally concerned about my ordeal and explained some of the issues that caused the lack of communication problem. The original 1-star value of the review I had written was a little unfair and was given out of frustration. Jason is working on trying to get me another quote to confirm the cost matches that of the original estimators. Will update review again if/when job is accepted/completed.
