The next day, the clamp slipped and the door slammed down just after my daughter entered the garage. If the two car garage door did manage to fall on her, she would be severely injured and pinned by the door, until at least two people could lift the door up. I mentioned this to the receptionist and she responded with "it's a temporary fix", dismissing my concern. After looking at the receipt, it mentions "A clamped spring is a temporary repair. Due to safety guidelines, IDC Automatic will not RE-CLAMP a broken spring under any circumstance." If you state that you won't re-clamp a broken spring, then why would you even initially clamp a broke spring to begin with? By your own admission, the temporary clamp will slip. Why set this scenario up; and have the temporary clamp slip causing an approximately 600 lb door to fall on a child? The logic escapes me.

I called to have my pad replaced. Todd arrived and fiddled with it for a few minutes and then told me he doesn't have any pads but would need to order me one. My garage door and springs did not squeak but he wanted to oil them anyway. I had no other problems other than needing my pad replaced. My belt was fine but he said he wanted to tighten it. Todd found work to try to justify his time of coming out without a pad for replacement. He was here 20 minutes and charged me $125. He said he'd call me when a pad comes in and he would have to come back out for another service appointment. North Country Garage Door has lost a customer. Please use ANY other company for your garage service needs.

When they arrived, they told me they couldn't provide a quote until they took it apart. Once a part, they told me that the springs would be $900 each. I told him I was not willing to pay that much, so he lowered the price and warranty. He told me it was the cheapest spring that they carry. He was here for 35 minutes and charged me $475 for labor, plus $65 for the service call, and the springs, on top of that, for a $2,000 plus bill. The installer was very good, but I would get the estimate in writing before letting them start on your door. It's absurd to pay that much for 35 minutes of work.

Estimate was…read morerequested for a broken spring and an appointment for that was scheduled, they called and stated the driver had a flat and requested a later appointment time. technician didn't arrive until after that appointment window had passed. Technician gave an estimate on labor cost before starting but said he couldn't give an estimate for the parts until he took it apart to see what all needed to be replaced. Once it was dismantled he then gave my husband a quote to replace both springs and both drums (noting you HAVE to replace both springs) and showing damage to the drums that was not noticed or noticeable before he took them down (door still opened smoothly so unsure how they were so damaged). Price quoted PER spring was $900 (more than we had expected the entire repair to cost), husband asked what other options there were and the only other option was the same spring with a shorter warranty for $600 per spring. As the door was dismantled and we had no other options he told him to make the repair. I approached the tech to inquire about the price as it was far higher than expected and I was met with some attitude and was told that the springs are high quality and American made and the other springs that I was probably looking at would need annual maintenance and these don't. It was a bit aggressive and I didn't get much more of an explanation than that. the receipt was hand written with no details regarding parts and part numbers. I asked for this information and was told they would register all of the warranty information and was quickly shown the spring on a website. I attempted to look up the part but you need to register and be approved to get into the website. Repairs are done and garage door works, hopefully it stays that way, but cost nearly $2,000. Using scare tactics, dishonesty and price gouging and now that I have dug deeper it looks like it's common practice for them.

I went with this company due to all the great reviews. The technician was knowledgeable but entire process was a bit sketchy. I would not use again due to this.

I am a civilian construction contractor/civil engineer. I also served for 26 years as an Engineer in the Airforce and Navy and retired as a Navy SEABEE-"You think I built some stuff?" 1st Garage Repair Needed 18-June-2025 1. 16 foot Masonite core filled garage door needed to be lifted-1 man could not lift it. 2. Replace lifting cable. 3. Replace pully. 4. Replace pully clamp to cable. 5. Adjust lifting springs. 6. Test door. 1st Garage repair work not completed. 1. Adjusting lifting springs. 2. Re-Aligning door for non-working lock that worked previously before repair. Result of incomplete work. 1. Door could not be lifted without extreme strain-I am 70 years old. 2. Door slammed like a guillotine. 3. Gap on west side of door kept rail lock from locking-lifting door with come along creating unsquared door. 2nd Garage Repair- Complaint 25-June-2025 The same technician came out and was very adversarial and aggressive. Customer informed technician that the lifting springs tension did not match the original by 6 inches and that is lot of spring tension. He adjusted lifting springs by only 1 inch, resulting in increased tension on spring but still needed more to lift door without strain. Technician was extremely angry and aggressive. The customer then asked technician to repair west side lock. The Technician removed and replaced lock so door did lock but door was still unsquared and light could be seen under door. Because tension was not adjusted properly, door is still extremely heavy and drops like a guillotine. Technician started to become belligerent and increasingly aggressive and Customer told him "Its time for you to go." Had the supervisor and/or technician worked for me in the civilian world, they would have been fired. Had the supervisor and/or technician worked for me in the military environment, they would have both been written up and lost stripes.
