I've had Michael mount a total of 5 TVs over 3 different occasions but unfortunately I won't be using him again. I reached out to him last week to schedule mounting for 2 TVs and 2 soundbars since I was moving to a new place. He got back to me pretty quick to confirm the booking but didn't mention pricing. Day of the appointment I reached out to confirm pricing but it took a couple follow ups and 4 hours before he gave me a number. His price was almost $150 higher than the quote I had from our moving company so I asked Michael if there was any wiggle room, and mentioned that we'd also like to have him do a few other items in hopes that we could compromise while still making it worth his while. Several texts and a phone call later and he wouldn't budge whatsoever which was disappointing considering that I've been a loyal customer for years now. In any case, it's his business and his prerogative to be as firm as he wants on pricing. I weighed my options and went with his services anyway since I assumed I could trust the quality of his work--unfortunately I was wrong. For the first TV/soundbar (LG G3 77", Sonos Arc Ultra) we discussed placement/height in advance, and I specifically gave him some decor that needed to fit on our TV console below the soundbar. He took measurements and got to work, but when he finished it quickly became evident that the soundbar was mounted lower than we discussed. As a result the decor was tall enough to partially block the soundbar, meaning I'd either need to live with that or tell my wife that she'd need to find a new place for her decor. Luckily she didn't care to make a fuss about it but it was frustrating all the same. Aside from that, I realized too late that the space between the TV and soundbar was only around 1", which is way smaller than Sonos' recommendation of 4". So now I have around $6,000 of home theater equipment with suboptimal placement and partially blocked upward firing speakers. In the same vein, I realized a couple days after the installation that the HDMI cables I was using were outdated. That issue was at least fixable, but it took a lot of time and effort on my part to do so. These things are obviously on me, but at the same time it's more than a little frustrating that when paying top dollar to a professional installer, these details aren't put on radar. Hopefully this is a learning experience for both of us. I was ready to let all these things slide, but today I discovered yet another issue. The second TV is on an articulating mount, meaning it has hinges to allow it to be pulled out/turned. While plugging in some cables today, I realized that of the many, many places where the bolts could have been placed, they were placed pretty much as close to the center as possible. This placement blocks the hinges from completely flattening out, forcing the TV to stick out further than it needs to. Michael's a nice guy, but given his lack of attention to detail, lack of guidance, in some cases outright carelessness, slow communication, and lack of value for loyal customers, I sadly can't say I'd recommend him anymore. read more
