As we traveled through Decatur, Indiana on business, we wanted Chinese food. My husband looked this place up (as it was as near where we were) and yahoo reviews had it as popular and good. We went there and I ordered curry chicken. I asked what vegetables came with it, she said "onions, carrots, green peppers, snow peas and mushrooms." I asked for no mushrooms. Fast forward to at the hotel room: it also had cabbage & water chestnuts. I despise cabbage. My entire dish had zero flavor except cabbage. No curry flavor at all, no spice at all. It was horrible. I ended up using about 4 packs of soy sauce to try to eat it! My husband ordered General Tso. It is his favorite, however, he couldnt even eat it, the chicken itself was rock hard and the sauce was extremely sweet. So sweet he couldnt eat much. The crab rangoon was good & he said the egg roll was very good (remember I hate cabbage!) Honestly, a huge waste of money. My husband stated it was probably the worst chinese food I have ever had. I'm so happy that this place put in the safe door for pick up orders. The solid steal door along with the sliding window and window ledge makes it very hard to spread COVID-19. The food here is amazing as well and you would be hard pressed to find something better. I have also seen the family buying groceries and produce not only for home but for the store at the local Walmart. They are great fun to be around and talk to. There is another Chinese place in Decatur, a Buffett, but I wouldn't go to it unless I had to. The food here is much much better. read more

If you like Chinese cuisine then you will hate this place. However, if you like bland food then this is your meal ticket. The chicken chow mein is simple: 4 ingredients. Blanches chicken that is white as snow, sliced onion, and celery all mixed in a sauce that would make cream of wheat seem like a flavorfest. The pork fried rice is orange. Forget the nice brown mixture with egg and pork pieces; not here. You get rice with some peas and no flavor. La Choy makes better stuff than this place. But hey, maybe you like tasteless food; if so, this is your place. read more

We had the egg foo yung & moo goo gai pan combination dinner (Inc. Fried rice n egg roll). Both dinner were scrumptious! The egg roll had a great taste but tiny. Wonton soup had a hint of the taste of chicken broth. The restaurant was very clean. I would recommend the food! read more

I love egg drop soup and wonton soup. So much so that I have tried my darnedest to find the best of those soups out there. So when I saw A1 had them on their menu in quart size I ordered up. I wasn't disappointed. In fact I will tell you imho this is by far the best soups of those kinds in all my tastings from every city I visit or the one I live in. The establishment is small but that's ok it is always super clean and they always have greeted with a smile and good service. They always tell me how long my order will take. It does take about 10' because hey make their wontons fresh as you order the soup! Fine by me because this is why I believe this soup is the best around. The soup base has amazing flavor with scallions and is served with the BEST crispy strips I've had. They melt in your mouth that good! I know it's crazy but other crispy strips are hard and dense. These are light and fluffy. Mmmm.... the egg drop soup has the perfect amount of thickness to the broth with silvery strips and chunks of egg throughout. Both always come piping hot and I'm able to keep it in the bag and eat it two hours later hot. That's some hot soup which I prefer. The price is very reasonable and the containers make great keep at home storage for when you have left overs for guests to take with them. Def try A1 out if you're curious. This is always a must stop when I travel through Decatur. read more
