Great green beans and shrimp fried rice! Fast service. Very friendly staff. My orders were always to go, but their dining area is clean and neat. I once had delivery and they were spot on time-wise and (again) super friendly. At first I thought the price was a little steep, but thinking about it, the green beans were fresh and perfectly wok cooked, there was a tender plump whole shrimp in nearly every bite. The garlic chicken was good, hot and sour was as if it needed to be tossed out and replaced with a fresher soup.

I came here for dinner and I was quickly ordering food. I was impressed by the number of customers that arrived while I was here to pick up food ordered online (yes, you can do this!) I ordered the fried rice with shrimp and it was a generous portion, with a generous amount of shrimps. It was very tasty...I asked for hot sauce and OMG, it was hot! So be careful if you try to do the same. Ambience was nice and quiet. Service was quick, even though they had many online orders, and price was decent. I'll make this place one of my favorites here in VW and I'll try to have as many different dishes as I can to provide more feedback on them. read more

Peking was the second restaurant I ate from while at Van Wert, way back in December when I first came here to look for homes and plan to move from Miami. My mother and I were both tired from viewing houses in Van Wert, New Haven and Fort Wayne. We got back to the hotel and wanted some delivery. The front desk recommended Peking and we ordered some food. We ordered the special fried rice and some imperial chicken. The food was bland and the rice was just yellow rice... yeah... we didn't like the food. The service was quick though and the food was cheap... but then again I didn't like it. Made me instantaneously miss Sake Thai back in Homestead and yes I know Thai food is different... but it still crossed my mind. It was funny, I was told by someone I met recently at a chocolate walk about my experiences in the area and asking her (a local) about what places she recommends. She found out I was from Miami and gave me some ideas to try and laughed at my experience with Peking. First try, and I will keep looking for better options in Van Wert, OH. They use a much thicker wrapper than what I care for on the egg roll and crab rangoon. Both were too doughy for me and the minimal filling on the crab rangoon was almost entirely cream cheese - very little "crab," no green onions and devoid of seasonings. For an entree I ordered the General Tso chicken. It was a VIBRANT red which I found odd. It also had a slight buffalo flavor to it. It wasn't bad, just not quite what I was going for. And the fried rice was the oddest part of the meal. It is a bright yellow. It contained not a speck of what I am used to seeing in fried rice: bits of eggs and veggies like peas, carrots, onions and/or cabbage. I got the meal to go, and it contained no napkins or utensils. I had a lot of leftovers from the large portions, but I didn't care to save them. read more

I love this place. Best almond boneless chicken in the world. The owners work in the restaurant and they are friendly and helpful. All of the food is tasty and they offer a buffet. Hands down my favorite Oriental food. read more

Got a meal and crab rangoon for $6.95 on a Saturday night. General Tso's chicken is ok but soggy, the fried rice isn't great-not a lot of flavor. Crab rangoon mostly just tastes like cream cheese. Over all ok-ish.... Not likely to go back. read more

Was in Van Wert for a conference and lunch was on our own. I was definitely feeling Chinese, so Peking was the place to go. Very nice service from the staff accommodating our large group, and even more amazing prices! Where else is there an all you can eat buffet anymore that is only $5.50 at lunchtime? Pretty amazing stuff! The egg drop soup was good, nice honey chicken, great crab rangoon, and some solid other entree options. The desserts were a little lacking and overall it is a small buffet, but worth it for the price and service. read more

Staff was very kind and attentive. Food was bland at best. Fried rice was just yellow rice. No veggies. Beef was rubbery and chicken chewy.

A safe bet in a small town. We didn't have the buffet but the dinner specials were a good deal. The 4 stars is relative to the location and fare. Don't expect P. F. Changs, be prepared for a dated dining room and you won't be disappointed. The staff is very friendly and the food quite good. One tip if you like spice ask for it VERY spicy.
