Awesome work by A1 Roofing. Our home looks great! They are extremely professional and thorough in every detail. They replaced our roof and fixed a ceiling that was leaking and did a myriad of other troubleshooting measures. They installed all new windows (replacement windows) and when the windows trim were removed and replaced it looked as if the trim had never been removed. In fact the window trim looks better now than before. Sean Napolitano is professional and delivers everything he promises and adds advice when needed. Put on a new roof and replaced skylights on my house. Paid over $25k worth of work. They were highly rated by GAF roofing. Just wasn't thrilled with the responsiveness of the follow up with a few issues that arose after the job. I felt like I was always chasing A1 Roofing down. Then when a shingle came off, due to high winds, forget about getting A1 to come back and fix it. Disappointed. read more

Overall, A1 did the work quickly, and mostly well, on a difficult roof, yet I have an axe to grind. My house had a finished attic, with a skylight and a wood stove. A1 asked if they could remove the skylight because it was old and a pain, and I said yes. They raised no flag about the stove's chimney. However, after the A1 installation crew departed, the chimney appeared mis-aligned from the street. So I climbed into a crawlspace, to find this EXTREME FIRE HAZARD. If I hadn't investigated my home would have burned. At this point A1 asserts they don't do wood stove chimneys, and are not responsible for a safe installation. However, they agree to defer on the last $2k pending the repair, with the assurance they'll be there to do the related roof work. FYI, turns out that's an entirely rubbish offer, because, chimney installers HATE coordinating with roofers. They won't do it. I heard that repeatedly from vendors. Regardless, I messaged A1 about coordinating with one company, and received no response. I messaged A1 about removing the chimney and closing the opening, so I could sell the house, and received no reply. Finally, found a chimney installer with availability to do the job, plus I agree to replace the entire chimney, just to make the job big enough, and the work gets done for around $2,600. For the record, I did not try to contact A1 about coordinating with the final installer, at the installer's request. Several months later, I've sold the house, and A1 calls, they want their $2. I'm giving a little push-back on that, about a minute's worth. Frankly, I believe I'm entitled to a bit of discount because this whole thing was a pretty big life suck for a long time, plus it cost a lot more to fix than expected. If A1 had knocked off $500 I would have been appeased. That didn't happen. Instead, A1 jumped straight to threats of filing a lien against the new owner, saying "it didn't have to happen this way". Also, their justification of, "you made money on the house didn't you?", wasn't the least bit ok either So, I wrote them their check, and this review. Buyer beware. read more

well torrential rain last night But ceiling in house stayed dry thanks to the tarps I put on roof over A1s roof repair, which leaks and has leaked since their initial repair in 2020. A relatively complicated job with a transition from siding to roofing, flashing, replacing rotted rake boards, fascia, gutters and downspouts, plus re-shingling a shed roof with a different type of cedar shake. A-1 completed the job with a minimum of fuss, noise and debris. The workers were quiet and competent. They arrived every day (weather permitting) and carried thru until the job was done. We are totally pleased and satisfied with A1 Roofing! First, they called us back right away (unlike others). It was a fairly complex job with new roof, skylight, trim boards, gutters, shutters, etc. on a semi-historic home in Newport. Sean came out and looked over the house and explained the many options to us of how the job could be done, and then quickly came back with a detailed estimate. The job was done quickly and professionally (the roof in one day!), and they cleaned up after each stage, working with us so that there was minimum disruption for our tenant and the neighbors. All the workers were careful and expert, and they had a great attitude, which was very nice. The house looks beautiful! We've had many wonderful comments from everyone, and no leaks! Be very careful before you select this company to perform a roof repair for you. First they will tell you they need to do a $300 - $400 roof inspection to determine what the problem is. In my case they did the roof inspection and told me that my leak was caused by gutters that were installed improperly. They told me that the gutters needed to be resoldered and reattached to the house. I said ok and asked how much it would cost and was told "don't worry we will take care of you ". Well after completing the work and charging me $4800 (essentially half the cost of a new roof!!!). then two days later it rained and I still had water pouring into my house. Lesson learned - don't agree to work with this company unless they give you a written estimate and a guarantee that the work they do will fix the problem. My experience is that they talk a good game but in my case they failed to deliver. I subsequently hired another company to fix my roof (Steve at Lighthouse Remodeling out of Middletown) and one and done it was perfect and I had no leak after two days of torrential rain. Get several estimates and based on my experience I think you will find that A1's pricing is higher than most and you won't get any better job - in my case the cost was astronomical for 22 hours of work and they failed to fix my leak... read more

A-1 Roofing and Construction recently did a major flat roof installation with gutter work as well as repairing flashing and asphalt shingle replacement. From start to finish Sean (Owner) was professional and did exactly what he promised and started the job when he promised and completed it when promised. I got several bids before awarding the work to Sean and his quote was the best. The most important aspect of the work is always quality and after several large storms his workmanship has proven to be outstanding. Sean and his crew did an amazing job. The crew showed up 15 minutes early and was ready to go on time. Towards the end of the job Sean noticed that the roof on our shed needed replacement (as well as a few pieces of trim and the front portion of the shed roof) and he included that in the original price at no extra cost to us. Even though they had to remove two layers of shingles, the entire job was done within a day and the grounds were thoroughly cleaned and free of any debris. After doing some research and receiving multiple quotes we found that A1 Roofing and Construction was very competitive with their pricing. Any time we had a question, Sean was quick to respond. I recently made an appointment with this organization to come out and evaluate my roof and its need for a repair vs. replacement. The appointment was for noon and unfortunately they neither showed up nor called. When I called later to discuss the same, the owner, Sean, told me that the cost would be $500 to do so. His explanation - "my time is valuable". We had our roof replaced and some work done in the basement by A1. The roof and gutter were replaced in 1 day. The framing in masonry took about 3 days to complete. Both jobs were done professionally and at a very fair price. The finished product looks great!
