Amazing service!! Fixed the valves and put in an emergency shut off when we thought the whole system needed to be replaced.

Lou Gano came out a few days ago and charged me $175 to do an estimate on my irrigation system. He wasn't there for more than 15 minutes. He turned off one main valve to stop my immediate leak and left. I called him the next day and told him that now all of my front yard plants werent getting watered. I am 100% sure they were getting watered before he came. When I called him he said he can't come out for a week. When I originally ordered the service they got me in in 2 days. I told him if I wait a week all the plants will have dried up. He didn't care. Basically he charged me $175 for 15 minutes of his time, he only turned off a main valve a created a problem that I cant seem to fix! Terrible service!!!! read more

Lou Gano promised to replace our valves with better than we had. He installed faulty valves in our irrigation system. A week later, the system failed, a valve was stuck, the water wouldn't turn off necessitating having to shut down the system, and the regular gardener noticed a crack in one of the valves. Called Lou, after excuses and blame he promised to come within two days to fix. Didn't show. Called him back and he lied, saying my mailbox was full, and gave arguments and excuses. Now we are faced with fixing the system that we paid close to $500 for just a couple weeks ago. Goodbye, money, and GOODBYE LOU. I found Louie when I was looking to get my irrigation replaced. He gave me great ideas for the benefit of my yard and my needs. He was competitive yet, Affordable. Called A1 which I found on the internet Big MISTAKE. Arrived at my home the time he said and looked at the system. He said the service charge was $65.00 and he would get back to me that afternoon with a estimate to repair my system. Two days later I called him and had to remind him who I was and had no idea of the issue with my system. I tried to stop the check but he had cashed it the same afternoon. I spent thousand dollars for them to install new irrigation system. Found out that the system was not placed properly and killed some of my plants. I had guys come out to install it properly. 7 months later, my entire system does not work. Tried calling but the answer machine is full. Tried emailing. I am at loss. This totally sucks because I really don't have the money to get the system to work if I hired someone else. read more

Lou Gano showed up at my home, made a few adjustments to my Irritrol control panel, checked a few drips and charged me $95. The next day, when I observed that my irrigation was still not operating properly, I tried calling Lou Gano. I left several voice mail messages for him to please contact me because my problem had not been resolved. He never called me back. Also, he told me that there were only 2 irrigation stations on my system and set station number 2 at zero minutes. It turns out that station number 2 is an active station and most of my plants watered by station number 2 died, thanks to Lou Gano's ineptitude and incompetence. Avoid this guy like the plague. He'll rip you off then disappear, after he damages your landscaping with his unprofessional approach to irrigation and landscape maintenance. read more

I called A1 because I had an emergency irrigation repair. They said they would be at my house the next day between 9am and noon. They arrived at 9am, diagnosed the problem, and made the repair successfully. In fact, they ran a new irrigation line under my driveway in under an hour. Lou and his crew were very courteous and efficient, they showed up on time and completed the job in one day. Both my yards looked like nothing had happened after they finished. Received a referral on the Sprinkler World to try out A1. Not really sure how or why they could recommend this guy to anyone. Seems to be on his own time. Took 2 voicemails to get a call back. Came out b/c he was in the area to give estimate. Send quote via email and never heard from him again. I was ready to pull the trigger as well. Spoke with Lou a couple of times, and he did a small repair job for us. He explained some issues we had in our yard, and so we had him replace our hose drip system with PVC. He and his crew moved our landscaping rock by hand, trenched by hand (no trencher noise/smoke), their prices seemed very reasonable, and the work seemed to be done very well. Lou and his guys were extremely respectful and helpful, showing us the work and where the drippers were located. He took it upon himself to make sure the water pressure was right given the maturity of our yard, and put in an extra part that wasn't in the estimate for no additional charge. He did some extra hose bib work for us too at no charge. I'd recommend Lou and his crew to family, friends, coworkers- everyone. Thanks for the great work, Lou!! read more

I'll leave the entire story below, but here is the two sentence summary: Lou is the most trustworthy man I've ever had work on my house. A job that initially looked quick, easy and inexpensive turned out to be a multi-day, complicated job and Lou refused to accept anything more than his initial quote. Here we go... I was recently lucky enough to move into my big dream house which has a huge yard and lots of plants/foliage. Unfortunately, this included three sprinkler timers with a total of 24 zones and about 100 heads, many of which were leaking from the first day. After trying to replace the heads one-by-one only to find the brand new heads leaking immediately, a neighbor told me the problem might be with the valves. I replaced a couple of valve diaphragms, which also didn't solve the problems, so I decided to consult a professional. I called Lou at 10AM and he was at my house before 2PM the same day. He immediately diagnosed the problem of a specific broken valve that needed replacement. The valve was in the middle of a 5 valve manifold squeezed into a tight junction. Looking at the rest of the system, he noted that most of the valves would probably need replacing in the next year or so, but I explained that dealing with all of the mounting moving/house expenses I was under a tight budget. He completely understood and discounted the work. He replaced the valve within an hour, but upon final inspection he noted that there was still a pinhole leak. He repeated his work and came back the next morning to ensure that it wasn't leaking. Because there was so little space between the valve and the 20+ year old manifold, there was still a leak so Lou rebuilt a portion of the manifold. Again, he came back the next morning to find another tiny leak, so he ended up rebuilding the entire manifold. Please remember, even though he had to make multiple trips to my property and easily spend more than 10 hours on this job, he refused to accept any payment over his initial, already discounted, rate. Also, during his time on my property I was hanging around him asking all kinds of questions, which he was happily answering and giving me maintenance and cost-saving tips. Yesterday, after having a number of power outages and electrical issues with my new dream money pit, I noticed that one of the sprinkler timers wouldn't turn on. Also, the sprinklers around the property seemed to be coming on at random times and staying on longer than their programmed times. Without hesitating a heartbeat, I called Lou. He came out first thing this morning, fixed the timer without having to replace it, replaced two more valves at his discounted rate and walked my property with me, zone by zone, to develop a watering schedule for the next year. He then showed me the best way to replace the handful of busted sprinkler heads we found around the property and gave me tips on replacing diaphragms on a couple of valves that weren't currently working but didn't quite need replacing - all to save me money that I would be paying to him! His final cost for spending all morning on my property was simply the discounted cost of the two replaced valves. Sorry, I don't want to post his rate here but after reading rates from similar posts for other companies, I know that the discount was real. Needless to say, Lou will be doing all of my sprinkler work forever. read more
